The fact is that this is not the first war between Ukraine and Russia, this is already the 4th war in the last 100 years and Russia has always attacked Ukraine, all neighbors attack Ukraine in history, but Ukraine itself has always responded to aggression and has not attacked first.
The last two rows aren't actually sung in the official anthem (the previous paragraph is repeated instead - you can hear it if you pay attention). But the original (full) version of the song the anthem is based on does contain those rows.

Ukraine has been going through this scenario over and over for almost 1000 years. Amazing culture has survived. It takes a strong determined people to make it happen with all the attempts of eliminating it.
