One day! I'm sure they're working on it. After my original GFN video on Steam Deck I feel like they came out with this script just for Steam Deck not too long after.
My friend and I are trying to play Ark survival ascended together but he has a steam deck and has done everything listed in this video to no avail. He states that whenever he executes the GeforceNOW _setup file it deviates and doesn't add it to his steam deck or proceed with what's displayed around 1:41 in this video. he extracts the file exactly and whenever he clicks on it and it just opens a paragraph of red text we both cant tell what's happening. any assistance would be much appreciated
Interesting.. In the interim, you can use Geforce Now in the browser on desktop mode. As to why it’s not working I’m not sure. Not sure if your friends deck is modified in any way. When you execute the script you do have to wait. It isn’t instant.
Yeah down fall is you need a good internet connection to play these games as to steam deck games are downloaded and need no connection to play them unless you’re playing online .
Thanks for the video! Everything works as it should, except HDR support. Thus is sadly one of the reasons why I upgraded to the Ultimate level. The steam deck and my television both support HDR. But I can’t select it in the options for the games… It says “you need a display that supports HDR….” Is there a way to make this work?
I’ve also had some issues with this. You have to ensure that the title you’re trying to launch with GFN supports HDR through GFN. This is the same for RTX. You’ll see a little icon when you launch the game from GFN and it’ll tell you what Nvidia supports for that title. In other words, just because a title supports it natively doesnt mean it’s supported when streamed through GFN. Hope that helps ya!
@@catgarcia2238 It may close and open as needed. Keep an eye on the terminal (looks like command prompt) to check to see its status. It should say when it has completely the script. Once it says it has, you should be good to move on.
Every game I open up I can’t even play. I press play. Then it opens steam. I minimize steam and then I see a shit ton of those grey triangles. Can’t even play a game
Not sure. If you install Windows, yes. If you try to play it on Steam OS, probably not due to the Rockstar online launcher. As far as whether it works on GeForce Now, I'm not sure but I would guess not again because of the online launcher however, other online games DO work like Fortnite etc. so maybe.
@@AHSA18 Not sure but that sounds about right for the free service. Not great, but should be enough for you to determine if it’s something worth paying for. Or you can bet on it and just pay for a month to see if you like it.
@@martinhernandez5814 It should be fine. You’re executing a script. You have to sit and wait a little for it to do what it needs to. The terminal or command prompt should also tell you what’s happening when you execute it (the black window with the white text).
Amazing, still can't stream 4k :| It's insane that they don't support Linux in any shape or form. It's not just a small niche of a few random enthusiasts... it's a whole market with Steam Deck AND Android - billions of devices and potential customers. How can they ignore it for so long?
If there are games you want to play in your library that aren’t supported on deck, for games you want to play at higher settings with rat tracing but can’t due to hardware limitations, to save battery when playing demanding games while at home or connect to the internet. It’s a great service for those who don’t have access to high end hardware but wanna play their games as if they did for what I think is a reasonable price.
To each their own. Some folks want a more console-like experience. Steam OS offers a more approachable setup that in my experience and many others, is more stable and predictable than windows. However, if you you know what you're doing and don't mind adjusting windows to work for you, windows handhelds are awesome! I've personally been using the ROG Ally X as my daily driver since it launched. Actually, the Ally X was my handheld of the year this year. But that's me, a PC builder at heart. For a lot of other people coming from consoles, the Steam Deck makes more sense and is simpler to use.
@@technodrone313 Console-like as in, less of a computer and more of a standalone gaming device. Xbox, Playstation-like. It's more familiar feeling to people who are used to gaming on a console, not a PC.
Absolutely fantastic overview for installing GeForce Now - thank you! I followed it step by step; no issues.
It would be nice if NVIDIA could just release a dedicated Linux app, but one can dream.

Very high quality video and instructions all around
Excellent tutorial! I'll be sure to give it another watch after the holidays and set this up myself.
@@timeforgamesYT Please do! I’m sure it won’t be the last time I make that video haha.

Question: when I play with a controller or my deck, I like to set up Gyro aiming through Steam Input. Would this be possible with GFN as well?
@@CenterSargE That i’m not sure of. I don’t use gyro control often. Might have to investigate that one!

Steam os is janky. Just install windows and you can play all of your games from any store. Or use any software
