    Instead of messing around with wrapping bacon around it do this.. take some rendered bacon grease and work that into your burger mix. The extra fat keeps the burgers juicy and the smokey bacon flavor is throughout the burger.

    I seriously thought I was the only person to make burgers like this. People don't understand that this combo with the egg makes the burger ridiculously juicy.

    Made these the other night, and they were an absolute hit! Perfectly cooked (I ALWAYS overcook hamburger when I try to grill it 😑), incredibly juicy, and very flavorful, especially considering the lack of salt seasoning. Made the meat more savory than salty.
    Oh, and microwaved leftovers the next day were every bit as juicy 😋 I think I'll experiment with some basting/glazing with various flavors (love pineapple on my burgers, so a very light habanero pineapple glaze woukd probably be amazing), but hot damn, this is some solid bedrock to build from!

    These came out fantastic. I doubled up on the bacon ( don't tell my cardiologist) so that it looked like spokes going around the burger. Topped with sharp cheddar and honey barbecue sauce
    P.S. I never knew you could stretch bacon

    I just did a riff on this tonight on our XT24 (Camp Chef). 225, hickory pellets (I admit that they're old and kind of sucky, and will get them out tomorrow), 75 minutes, and with 1lb 80/20 ground beef + cheddar squares. The result was fabulous, but again, but non-janky pellets could've been even better. Thanks for doing this, and it was a perfect to get me started with our new Camp Chef (last night we smoked Italian sausages). Oh yeah, and since I rarely make burgers, I used the Weber patty press for the sake of uniformity.

    Noob to smoking and grilling. I just bought a Pit Boss series 5 pellet smoker. I've noticed that most of the recipes and how to videos don't mention the pellet type. Does it not matter? Or should you always just use hickory (seems to be the most popular when pellets are mentioned) unless specified otherwise?

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  2 роки тому

      I personally like hickory the most, but I toy with apple and cherry as well… just depends what I’m smoking. If I’m going for the sweeter notes I’ll use a fruitwood over hickory

      @@AndersonsSmokeShow thank you! It was light out at the beginning and dark and the end so was wondering the length of time. There’s a Pit Boss 700FB1 at my work for about 50 percent off with my employee discount and I’m planning to get it. I only tried a pellet grill at my step sisters house and they made the best stuffed shells ive ever had so love that more than just meats can be cooked on these. My biggest concerns about getting one were cleaning and cost of cooking on it but I was talking with someone who said the pellets are actually about the same or better than propane As far as how much cooking you get out of a bag. Also was told cleaning wasn’t too bad and you only have to fully clean after 2 to 3 cooks other than your grates

      Pellets are relatively cheap. At low temperatures I get about 1 hour from 1.5lbs. Yeah I found that if you aren’t cooking really greasy things or you’re not going to be searing you can go a little bit more than 2 to 3 cooks but anytime you’re going to be hitting high temperatures on a greasy grill you need to think about that make sure it’s clean.

    No ready to bastardize the beef - a very healthy cow gave its life so you can savor every ounce of flavor without breadcrumbs and eggs.

    Made the burgers for the first time last night…they were amazing! Did you use extra thick bacon to allow you to give it that much stretch….mine kept tearing?

    Did I miss the time it takes to get the burger to 140 degrees?

      It was just a little over an hour. As you can see I make them thick, so the time will vary quite a bit depending on your preference.

      @anderson I like the sear you did from your first video. I like this low and slow too. Is that bacon fully cooked or do you think more time is needed for it to be done?

      Salt on the outside can help with a nice finish on the outside of the burgers
