As a true car enthusiast, the 9” screen that Volvo still offers is plenty for me. To be honest any manufacturer that seamlessly, tastefully and, with class, integrates the infotainment system into an attractive dash wins my vote. I could not care less about the size of the screen, I am more about the aesthetics .
I live in London, England and am about to recieve my new XC60 next week, after a 6-month-wait! Your video has let me know what I am in for. Thank you so much for a full, comprehensive breakdown of the car, even though I am in the UK, I imagine the specs will be more or less the same.
a combination of 20" wheels AND air suspension gives an extremely smooth ride - that's my recommendation (and what I bought because I have a very bad back that doesn't like bumps when driving!)
Looks good, and Volvo has the best seats going, but they're still stuck with just a 4-cylinder and it simply doesn't compare to a good V6 or I6 for refinement.
Why did I die laughing when Drew was presenting the back seat capacity and said the “middle passenger will have to spread their legs apart,” and he giggled a bit! Omg I feel so guilty bc I wouldn’t have laughed my ass off if he didn’t giggle a bit.
Sound dB readings are SO dependent on the type of surface. In my Ioniq-5 I can go from 55dB to 72dB at the same speed when the surface changes. I'd be interested in readings over rough vs smooth asphalt and also to see if the air suspension cuts road noise of rough asphalt.
As a V60 PE owner in Canada, getting an $76K CDN car and rolling the extra $5k into the finance for a 10 year warranty, is no brainer IMO. A fantastic car with the knowledge that all major repairs will be covered!. Not sure I’d still want be in a hybrid in 10 years anyway.
Less expensive sounds so much better than saying cheap. But that’s just how I trained to talk when describing an expensive luxury item. Cheap sounds like a box of generic cereal versus a name brand lol
I have a 2023 XC60. It has beautiful leather upholstery, which was standard even in the base model. The cloth upholstery and oversize, weird looking headrests in this test model are a big step down. Luxury vehicles do not have cheap looking cloth upholstery.
@CarConfections Guys, I just got this car a couple of days ago. Ultimate with 20" wheels. I've been doing noise measurements and at ~90 km/h (~55 mi/h) the noise level is 62-63 dB(A). Weighting is A. I'd really appreciate if you could help me understand where the difference comes from. It's 10 dB off from your 53 that you measured, which is a massive difference. The tires that came on the car are Michelin Primacy 4. I can clearly hear that the main source of noise is road noise. I disabled air cond. for the test. The car has double glass windows, there was no perceptible wind noise at 90km/h, so it has to be the tires. Your test car even has larger wheels and somehow you get 10 dB less. I don't get this. Maybe you dB meter has a high pass filter in it? Because my measurement shows that 63 dB is really in the 100Hz and lower zone, then it gradually decreases and somewhere from 250Hz and up the noise level is around 50dB(A) or less.
@pavlo2692 different road surfaces generate wildly different amounts of road noise - try driving on an old British concrete motorway - for an extreme example something like the concrete part of the m25 heading eastwards towards Kent (too noisy to have a hands-free mobile phone conversation in many cars). . . [
@pavlo2692 pleased to learn that the new double glass windows are making a difference, in my 2023 xc60 t8 recharge ultimate the wind noise is extremely noticeable at 70mph.
@@alexshapley8331 I did 4 hour drive today, mostly with speed 110-140km/h and wind noise wasn't a problem at all! Some whistling here and there sometimes, yes, but not intrusive. Road noise still dominates. But as you said, depends on the road surface. Some surfaces are really good and the car feels serene inside. I wish that was always the case, haha.
@pavlo2692 I'm wondering if I don't hear so much road noise because I hear much more wind noise (old fashioned single pane windows) which drowns out the road noise.... I'm getting a courtesy car soon (these are almost always the latest models) so I'll try and do a comparison.
@@alexshapley8331 Maybe this, or maybe tires are different? Tires can make a massive difference (I know firsthand). Maybe the roads you drive on are smoother. Or maybe it's about tolerance to different sound frequencies. :D I'll be curious to know your test results with another XC60.
i was just going to buy one but it feels old. apple carplay by cable, wireless charging that doesnt work with a super thing case. went with MB glc insted
I see that you have message "Cleaning needed - Park Asssist System sensors blocked", and you are testing new model? Anyway, I get that on my '22, any info from Volvo how to sort it out?
I really like the vehicle and the brand. However, that entertainment screen/interface is way overdue for a substantial upgrade. I hear 2025 models will have the revamped screen, so see you then Volvo.
I’ll be honest with you. I’m a huge Mercedes fan. And I am coming out of owning a brand new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E class and recently purchased a 2024 Volvo XC 60 Ultimate Dark mild hybrid with 21” wheels and massage seats. There is no, and I repeat again no “low-key” luxury with the Volvo XC 60. All that I have experienced is high end, quality luxury with Volvo. The Nappa leather massaging seats, the Swedish Driftwood trim, the Orrefors crystal shifter knob, and all the other accessories that comes with the Ultimate Dark package are very luxurious. I would say more so than my top tier trim in the Benz. And I will once again say that I am a huge Mercedes-Benz fan, but I am now also a huge Volvo fan.
It has Android (Google) Automotive, not the same as Android Auto. It has direct access to the car although as standard it only show things like the Oil level and tyre pressures. Other things you gain are e.g. Google maps knows how much charge is left in the hybrid battery and will control usage on a journey when you set a destination. Only apps written for Android Automotive are compatible.
Almost bought the GV70 a month ago. Then I read all the forums about horrendous service experiences with Genesis. Opted for the XC60 Ultimate and happy so far.
While showing the back seat space you pulled driver car seat little ahead if I compare front both seats they are not parallel.. please give proper review
Volvo - getting rid of wireless charging and/or wireless Carplay is ridiculous in a car at this price point. That alone removes this from all consideration for me. Otherwise I love the car.
A company that puts safety first should have physical HVAC controls. The on-screen climate controls work okay, but you have to take your eyes off the road.
Big Air Ball Award for the ridiculous back seat center "block"... given that, this is only a 4-passenger car (really, a wagon). The acceleration of 4.5 seconds 0-60 is something no one really needs; the tech and features in this car seem like 5 to 10 years old. Kudos for a PHEV in this class, but $75-$80K for this?!?! Not a good value. Wait 10 years when it's only $8-$10,000, & get friendly with your Volvo mechanic.
As nice as this is, theres just nothing new here, the designs have become stale, they have looked the same for years, inside and out. There’s almost no reason to review this tbh, you can just watch any of the ones from the last few years.
I think they look great. I prefer automakers refine the details of great looking models. Also, Volvo cannot afford the budget of Benz or Toyota. This remains an excellent platform.
400HP was the previous version of the powertrain, which had a 87HP electric motor. They upgraded the rear electric motor to 145HP a couple years ago, so it now has 455HP.

Actually reliability is not what it was prior to pandemic and Volvo has stated this issue themselves. I study these things.
