Thanks a lot for this video, I was searching on the web to find a replacement part but that I couldn’t find easily. With your simple yet very clear explanation I could fix it in less than 10 mins. Thanks much
😂 So sorry to hear that... 🤣 I don't know where you can get them. Unfortunately, that is the main reason I just did this sort of repair rather than just replace it. If you find a source, let me know!
In my Rav4 one of the vent assemblies has an annoying rattle which is most unpleasant to have to listen to on a car that has had just one careful owner. Yet the dealership says they cannot identify the problem because it is somewhat intermittent. In my experience there are quite a few problems with vehicles that supposedly experienced (and pricey!) repair places seem unable to fix. My conclusion is that often the owner must search for information and try to fix it himself. Mechanics and shops want a lot of money, but they don't necessarily know what they are doing. I will try to remove the vent and hope to somehow fix what is rattling. Shall I say: poor design!?
Thanks man you helped me avoid taking apart the surrounding dash parts!

Awesome! Glad it worked out!
@@PracticalMechanicwhat’s the part number for that one?
Not sure. I didn't end up purchasing a new one, just repaired the existing one.
This is exactly what I needed for my 2009 Venza. Thank you!
Excellent, I'm so glad!
Thank you. Ugh, thank you. Such a relief to find genuinely helpful reference material like this. Lol.
You're welcome, glad it was helpful! 👍
Really helpful!!!
Great vid, thank you.
You're welcome, glad to help!
You're my hero
Yes!!! 😊
Cheers
Where can I buy that entire air vent assembly that you removed? Can't find it anywhere. My wife broke it using it as a phone/cup holder...

so what do you do when the plastic tab on some of the fins at the bottom are broken ? buy a whole assembly?
Yes. But these can be a bit hard to find. Another alternative is to just remove the broken fins altogether.
This happened in my 2000 Avalon. Those pieces that fell off are somewhere down in the wires. Long gone.
Bummer!
@@PracticalMechanic is the vent assembly the same for a 2000 Avalon?
@bobbie8549, unfortunately I don't know. Hoping someone with an Avalon will chime in!
@@bobbie8549 not the same but it’s similar.

How about the air vent on the driver's side? Can I do the same to repair it? Thank you!
I don't see why not, but I haven't needed to take apart the driver's side one myself. Good luck!
What about the vent on the 3rd row on top the air comes out real slow how u fix that
my louvers go left to right and the knobs on the vent are broken and cant find any

Oh man, unidentifiable rattling sounds are the worst!!! Good luck in the search! 👍
