BTW Toyota replaced our dashboard in 2019 pre-emptively reaching out to us through a recall. We are the original owners on record of our vehicle, I'm not sure how that works with secondary ownership.
Great video but his dash is way beyond repair which is why there was never a follow up video. I found a dash on my 04 in a "pull your part" salvage yard on a vehicle that must have benefited from the Toyota dash recall as it was in perfect condition. Cost me $58.00 plus being able to remove the donor vehicle dash myself was a $3.00 trial run as I could have backed out at any point during removal if I felt like I was getting in over my head, took me about 3 hours to get it out and I am now confident about the reinstall.
the lower drawer I would keep since the piece fell behind I would remove the piece that has the cigar lighter just unbolt the gear handle counter clockwise and the just pull the whole plastic piece you should have access to what fell behind.

There is a ton of wiring, connectors, passenger airbag, air/heat ducts etc. on the underside of this dash. This is a very difficult project much more in depth than this video shows....don't do it, save yourself a ton of issues.
Odd... I just bought a 2009 Sienna LE with 140,000 miles and there are multiple thin cracks on the passenger side of the dash, but the 2006 LE with 200K on it which the 2009 is replacing has a pristine dashboard.
@@fixitjames3388 it happened twice I had a lexus is 350 2008 and they denied and then again with the sienna that's why I say they are liars because they should have replaced it.
@@kowe5827 that’s almost the worth of these used Siennas. Unbelievable the price of parts won’t go down as these vehicles age. Especially when it was a their fault in the beginning. Ridiculous
I can tell you replacing the dash is not easy. This video gives you an idea but he skipped over a bunch of wiring harness details. The hardest one is the one behind the stereo. It is the white housing with numerous plugs on it. This big wiring loom is held on by numerous plugs underside of dash. It's held on by 2 10mm bolts that can only be accessed with the dash removed.
So I have an issue my small diamond necklace fell through the middle part where those two open doors are for you to put stuff in in the middle console next to the shifter I can’t see where it might have fell but I don’t know where to start
The cracked dashboard is under recall from Toyota. Just go to the Toyota dealer and asked them to replace it. My Sienna 2006 dashboard was also cracked and I had no warranty. I got replaced free. May be this will help someone.
249$ and you buy a Coverlay kit molded to perfectly fit and just cover the dash and will be just like brand new in less than 5 min... By the way, the way you throw all the parts you take apart makes me wonder if that's really your car... I never treat my car the way you do...and that's not something to show on youtube if you like to get subscribers and grow online. And please, when messing with hvac, radio, airbags and instrument cluster is always basic rule to disconnect the battery and pull out the key.
I remember when I had that sienna (somebody hit me and got totalled) I went to toyota dealer and they laughed at me when I asked the dashboard replacement, I live in Florida maybe here they do some kind of tricks to sell the dashboard under the table for their friends I don't know

Usually is better if you get the dash on a junk yard if you buy it will be way more expensive

You know theres a factory recall on those dashes and Toyota will replace it for free in about one day! I had mine done for free
Thanks for the advice but here in florida they are kind of liars they tell you the 10 years old rule do not cover the warranty anymore

Do you have to or recommend disabling air bags? My dash needs repair too and I’m trying to research customizing it.
Just remove the battery terminals and remember not to hit the airbag or make any force tl them.
