Rocket Rod is a pleasure to listen to unlike a lot of the other YT commentators. Fast, clear, concise, to the point but at the same time comprehensive. Could be a TV personality.
Great build, tasteful practical mods that aren't over the top. Very purposefully put together. Rod knows every nut and bolt, nice to hear him talk about it.
Rocket rod u r a machine that drives a beastly weapon. I love the antics u get upto in that machine and love u being part of this awesome show. Keep up the great driving and thrills 👍🏼😎
Mabuhay from the Philippines! Learning so much things about Overlanding from your show! Love the cooking segment, the Gear segment! Seano, Graham & the Rocket man! You guys are awesome! Thank you and more power!
I absolutely love Rocket Rods rig, it got me into the 79 series. I'm getting my new one just before Christmas, cannot wait! Can't wait to see you in more episodes soon Rod!
Just found this channel and cant stop watching. Makes me want to get a Landcruiser and get out there! I have been cracking beers like no tomorrow and watching these videos.
For those of us who don't live down that way, please take a little time to define your terms. The continual talk of "XX Series" this and "YY Series" that is used, means nothing to many of us. Love the rig too Rod, your passion of trail running is contagious.
Rockets rocket is an awsome bit of gear, The only 79 ive seen that i like bar none. And Rocket of course is a one of a kind legend. Great no bull run down, keep em coming👍👍👍
Of all of them in 4WDA, I actually like how well maintained Rockets 79 is. It absolutely shines through. And i have never seen Rocket talk as much. He absolutely loves the ride. Amazing passionate walkthrough. Loved the bit about Swags.
I think we can all agree that if you have seen all episodes with Rocket Rod and he tells you something on his car is good or works fine.......ITS GOOD AND WORKS FINE! If Rocket can't break it.......you wont! Top bloke,
The guys a legend and that 79 is awesome! I’ve watched so many of your videos and Rockets truck always blows me away! If such a thing could be done in the U.K., and I had the $$$ I’d be in!
Love all videos by 4WD Action!!! Graham and Shaun are awesome...Took all tips for my first Fraser Island trip from Graham...Great Rigs out there guys!!!
That really is a Beast of a truck, and Rocket sure ain't afraid to wheel the snot out of it! Still looks funny y'all getting in on the wrong side🤔 🤟🤠👍 awsome stuff guys, cant wait to see more!
Man I love that front bumper! I agree with him that is a beautiful piece of work with the clear coat! I wish I could something like that here in America for my 4 runner.
that transmission controller looks super nice! being able to have all that manual controll while keeping the benefits of the auto, or just throw it in full auto. very cool
Meanwhile back in Japan, the designers and engineers of the 79 have just discovered 4wd Action and Rocket Rod. They thought they had tested to the limits but now they're finding out what you can really do in a 79. Eyes like dinner plates and some even flatlining; with what breath they have left they're asking "Who is this Wocket Wod?? Top rig. Genuine all round good bloke. Wheels in the air more times than I've had hot diners. Keep having fun out there.
Hi guys would love to see more camping and 4WD action on Morton Island if is possible It’s my absolute favourite place to camp. Keep up the great work.
Rocket I loved your customisation 79 talk. I missed the engine cc size. Due to health no more soft 4 wheel driving for me - bar pulling my caravan across a field & helping friends who are stuck in the mud even new landrover, Hyundai & Volvos with my Subaru. Sadly had to swop it in (Due to worsening health) for a Rav4 which is still, very good. Especially sport mode - which works best for off-roading. I can't thank you enough for the 4WD Action trip UA-cams. Keep up the adventures & Vehicle spec talks.
Good morning from Arizona USA. I love the channel. Wish we could get these amazing rigs in the states. Or st the very least get the same diesel engine in the Toyota that are offered here. Too many environmental hippies that are afraid of soot and good mileage I guess? Any way love the truck and love watching the channel. If you ever get to the states come to AZ and look me up. We are one of the last states with tons of open public land to wheel on. I would be happy to dust off the old ford bronco and show you some amazing trails and hidden oasis.
What an awesome rig. I really like it. Though I can't help but see dollar signs as I was watching this. But it's one sweeeeet 70 series. If my lotto numbers come through, I'll be calling you Rod.
The main advantage of leaf springs is they are naturally progressive in rate, compact vertically and width wise, and you can use overload leafs that bottom out on different parts of the frame to take additional loads more easily than with coil springs. Leaf springs distribute the compression load to four parts of the frame(not including overload leafs), however the issue is that those two points are also responsible for controlling the axle, and those two parts of the frame have to resist the torsional load applied by the leaf springs during articulation. With a coil setup, the coils only take the compression load of the springs, granted only in the spot where coil bucket is located. With a coilover system you can effectively make a dual spring rate similar to overload leafs, however they take up more space. The control arms on a coil sprung axle spread loads across 7 points on the frame, via the links and sway bars, and in general the load is just compression or tension, no appreciable torsion is applied. I've seen leaf sprung frames bend at the front leaf mount many times due to this difference, because a lot of force is concentrated at one spot, especially when towing. with a link system, the load is spread more evenly mitigating this issue to an extant.
Couldn't agree more regarding the Yokahama tyres. I run G003 MT's and they're an amazing tyre offroad and on tarmac. Just did a 10,000 km rotation and cannot fault them. Best MT on the market today!
Holycrackamoley! Does Rod have any spare time? That is one heck of a comprehensively thought out vehicle. A lot of time, hard work, brain testing and, well, love by the looks of his enthusiasm for it.
Have a question to ask Rocket Rod about his 79 Series Landcruiser mods or auto upgrades? Ask him in the comments below!
4WD Action amazing car good stuff glad there fellas like you that put the hard yards in to make our 4x4 experience better thanks man
Has he considered replacing the canopy setup with something lighter?
How many kilometres has it racked up?

Fantastic run down of your truck, really enjoyed it. 👍
Great setup, thanks for the detailed walk through, good job rocket.
Would love to know if rocket has ever gone over his gvm or whether he's been able to keep under it even when fully loaded? Love this rig ❤️💪
Not sure as I don't weight each trip. I would have thought that I may have been over at some point but not 100% sure.
Rocket, what a legend👍 beast of a rig is dead right!
Beautiful rig he's got there.
Great vid rocket rod mate. One tough 79 for sure!
Absolute beast of a machine
Beast of a ride
It's the rig i would have from them all. Superb.
Rocket, we missed you bro!! Where have you been hiding. . . . LOL. Great to see you back in action!
Good to see the Rocket 🚀 back on track....
Rod clearly knows his stuff!
Awesome stuff I love seeing rocket on your trips
If I had've won the Nulon 79, you would've been doing an auto conversion on it, so my wife could drive it......love your work!!
Hey Rod,
Great video any future plans on a aluminium canopy looks like you have alot of weight at the rear.
Would prefer lighter but this is one strong unit. I think with a lighter unit I would be changing doors out all the time when damaged.
You're a legend Rocket!
Wow that car is so SICK! That must be your house huh? Your all packed up and complete just like a house.I wish have this kind of car too.
That was awesome upload, great 4x4 cheers guys.
