Just so many thoughts when watching this video. First of all, thank you, thank you Clayton for allowing to tape all this for people like us to experience a part of what Olympic build is like. You staying with Connor on what looks to be an uphill 20 miler is just awesome and makes me incredibly happy. Just look at the guy on bike trying to take bottle from your hand towards the end, ‘that’s how fast’ you are both are moving, blows my mind. Good luck to both of you, you are our heroes and national treasure forever.
I'm that kid who yelled 'You're the man Clayton!' right before you started the hobbler. What you guys do is such an inspiration for high school runners like myself. Keep it up, you're awesome.
The music in this series is just insane. I haven't seen a more emotional clip of running than the up tempo miles at the end of their long run. Not to mention the backdrop of Provo. So pretty.
Clayton, I love these videos. Thank you so much for making them. Very inspiring. If I may make one suggestion: Instead of driving, take the train from Zurich to St. Moritz. The trains in Switzerland are super efficient, reliable and very scenic. I've visited both Zurich and St. Moritz, and I've had an amazing time at both places. I hope you all have an enjoyable trip. Best of luck at the Olympics.
Yep, as a Swiss I can confirm. 3+ hours of relaxed travelling directly from the airport. As a foreigner you can benefit from bargain tickets, if budget is a factor. And the public transport system at your destination is as good as anywhere in the country. Most of the infrastructure is in walking distance anyway...
Every week I look forward to these drops! It helps keep me inspired and motivated as I continue to train for my first full marathon at the CIM this year. Excited to see you guys crush it at the olympics!
Also someone who lives in Switzerland here. The train is incredibly convenient with bags/groups/kids and there's a station at the airport. I was just in St Moritz and it seemed relatively quiet though there are definitely groups altitude training there ahead of the Olympics (definitely quieter than Livigno). There are great spots to run (especially hills), hope you have a great trip! I'm sure you have a network, but happy to answer questions or provide tips for where to run.
Another great video! Loved the meeting and discussion in Ed's office which is better than the old 40SFH windowless office! I wish we had that grass loop field you have now. We ran on the grass field between the SFH and the tennis courts. Keep building for Paris, you're going to do great! Glad to see Ed wearing a bike helmet too.
Agreed, it's awesome. They only come as a result of a brand sponsoring the series as they're somewhat expensive to produce and YT ad revenue doesn't nearly cover the costs of something like this, with 30-40k views you're looking at $200-250/video and often times with travel costs, hotel expenses for media team, bike rental, equipment etc costs total 10-20 times this income. Kudos to Asics for investing in content like this, let's hope more brands follow suit.
Super impressive team effort, coach is locked in. Can't wait to see the specificity training coming up. I've been studying the Paris course profile and it looks amazing. At mile 18, that small downhill followed by the steep downhill to mile 20 is insane! I would love to see you guys get on that middle portion, or replicate it somehow in training.
In some episodes, you look as if you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders! You don't need to do so. Remember you serve an audience of One. Run like Eric Liddell and feel His pleasure. Soak up this experience. You are fit and will do well on race day. Medals are nice, but being secure in the knowledge that you have given your all regardless of final position is the true victory. Thank you for the 24 hour rule on dealing with race disappointment. Isaiah 40:31.
The last run, the long one starting out with a big group, that was on a very cool trail. I think we've seen it several times before. Where is that? I live for those kind of routes with no cars.
Regardless of how great Manz is, Clayton I wish you do not make Conner your standard. I want both of you to represent our country well and both to medal regardless of placement. Clayton this is your legacy, if Conner does not have a good race on that day (hopefully that does not happen), then you have to bring it in the marathon. YOU GOT THIS‼️
Expat living in zurich...are you nuts? No one sane flies from Paris to zurich. Hop on a the. 4 hours. No security or stress. Change zurich hb. I do it in 3 minutes when necessary. Faster No stress. I do my mobility and stretching on the train. Great public transport in st Moritz but you can rent a car there if you must.
Good point. There is a tie to Clayton here. I was planning to get Coach Eyestone’s reaction to Kenneth’s win because of how he reacted to Clayton’s NCAA 10K win in 2019. It just started earlier than I thought and on a different athlete. See link for context: ua-cam.com/video/SdDazuidSzM/v-deo.htmlsi=tWOikffelDdoggkB
There was another group using part of the field. So instead of being a typical 800 meter loop, we had to measure a new loop and cut it down to about 620 meters.
Could not help smiling at LOOK AT JAMES!!!!
Connor looks like that guy that invites you on a run and never runs next to you hahaha
So basically my brother.
How much Coach Eyestone cares about his athletes and celebrates their success is incredibly heartening and inspiring.
Definitly the secret star of these videos - thought the athletes are fantastic as well
The video of coach is so good
Mantz is faster but Clayton's form looks just so relaxed I always feel like he is at a lower effort. Love to see these videos.
Best running series on youtube hands down! Kudos to the people behind the scenes filming and editing this. Really enjoying it
I was just gonna say that! Exceptional channel that I hope stays alive long after the Olympics

LOVE these videos. That coach is seriously passionate about what he does!!
It would be great to get this on Peacock. I bet NBC would love content like this ready to go. Increase visibility for you guys.

That’s awesome that one collegiate team has so many athletes in the Olympics, kudos BYU
Yeah, amazing. I couldn't keep them all straight. They have 3 in men's marathon. We're there 2 in the men's steeple?
@@brianway4240yes, and Courtney Wayment in the steeple and Whittni Morgan in the 5K
I loved seeing the planning meeting with coach & wives. The shirts look so good!
This series is inspiring and beautiful!
Incredible series! Thanks so much for your work showing us this level of work and commitment. Go USA!
I love yours and mantz friendship. Its the best
Wow! This is making me flash back to Ed Eyestone, Henry Marsh and Doug Padilla!
Something about running on the shoulders of giants . . . Is that how that phrase goes?
@@_Clayton_Young_you guys are so fortunate to be surrounded by greatness
We’re getting down to the wire man. Let’s finish this build strong. Proud of how you’ve trained, you should be too
The overture is fire. "You got this! Work! It's work today!".

These are fantastic. Thanks Clayton and the entire production film. Inspiring.

I'm excited about Paris, but also kind of sad about this series' inevitable end. We need more of this, please!
love the soundtrack for this docu-series: dark smart vibes... ooo...
Kenneth Rooks truly felt something
We need more series like this

so excited to watch you race! would be interested to see a full day of eating in marathon prep?
You can follow Ashley on IG, she shares what I eat. @feedyourrunner
Clayton Young is a vampire, I’m convinced of it.
Haha, why?
Pale. Always tired. Super speed. "Young".
I think long, sharp teeth is a giveaway. But it seems like he's out in the sun a lot, so maybe not!
Not to mention constantly wearing sunglasses and having a soothing voice
Clayton, I continue to be inspired by you and Conner! Looking forward to watching you compete in Paris!
Wha my a great behind the scenes episode!! 🎉
LOOK AT JAMES!!!
How cool would it be to have a "casual flyby" by our Olympic marathoners when you were out on your long run?!?!?!?!? So cool!!!!

I would highly recommend doing it all by train (especially Zurich-Paris).

I'm having a hard time finding other sources saying that Parker Valby scratched.
Can you tell coach I think his FJ is fire?
Those shirts at end? Are they for sale? Because if they aren’t they should be.
I keep getting distracted by all the good looking gear 🤣

Wonder why Clayton is wearing two HRMs, one on the chest, one on the arm.
How do I get one of these shirts?
Amazing series could you make one about your shoe rotation
Why does that one-thousand-time-workout-field have to be measured Again?
There was another group using part of the field. So instead of being a typical 800 meter loop, we had to measure a new loop and cut it down to about 620 meters.

Someone needs to tell coach to ditch the red shirt!!!!
