Congrats on another stellar review. S&S is one of the best examples of why I love VR. There is not one flat zombie game, and I have played a shit ton, that can compare to the immersion of killing a zombie as you do in S&S. So for me, hearing we get a game that is comparable with to S&S 1, in retribution, with the added benefit that psvr2 gives, I couldn’t be happier.

The graphics are so good on this, you weren't kidding. It's the best-looking game I've seen on PSVR2 so far in terms of sheer crispness/fidelity ratio (Horizon was higher fidelity but nowhere near this crispness). It's all the more impressive considering it runs at native 90 FPS. I played Chapter 1 on a PC with 2080 Super, and it looked okay, but I'm pretty sure this is even better. I find myself just ogling at the visuals and the sheer detail on display.
Looks awesome! Man I loved the first one but all I could ever think of when playing it was how bad we needed a proper controller to play it. The joysticks must feel so much better than the original move controls! Nice review as always Bryan! Hope you’re doing well bro!
Thanks for another great review, Bryan! I’m looking forward to picking this one up in the future, but I never finished Chapter 1 on PSVR1 so I’m going to play through it on VR2 before grabbing the sequel.
Dang, exactly what I was hoping, thank you Brian. Still waiting for the 1st one to allow a download. Wanna play through it again with these new controls and sharpness and HDR, oh man. The first S&S game was the best new gaming tech 'wow' experience for me since like playing Mario 64 back in the day seeing properly done 3d the first time but in this case the only missing pieces were hardware dependent. Those awesome controls always felt like "what if in some utopian, distant future we could have this game but not send the controller design to the Sony chimpanzee division. It'll never happen but I can dream!" (on psvr anyway)
I've played the intro and am already in shock. I absolutely loved chapter one despite the move controllers. Chapter two has the potential to be another must-play VR experience
Just got done getting Platinum on S&S1, on a second playthrough, so continued that new save into Ch2. In fact I had started Ch2 with my first save, then dropped it to go back and get the Plat in Ch1. WOW, did they turn up the dangerous factor on this game! Love it so far. Again, another great Review, Bryan!
I just started the first S&S on PCVR for the first time now, and wow.... what a game! Honestly I feel like these sort of VR mechanics and combat would make any 1st person game ever made 10x better if they were implemented! I finally understand why this is so many people's favorite VR game. The biggest minus of the game, I feel, is the relatively small size of the areas you visit. I think this is a limitation of having to make the game playable for the Quest 2 version. Not a huge deal, but probably something that will affect many VR games going forward - the Quest userbase is too big to ignore for most third party VR devs, after all.
yeah the levels felt really videogame levely, like something you'd find in a game from the 90's. these maps look a lot better though, a lot more natural.
Dark/Night time environments on PSVR2 look almost exactly like real life to me. I used my QuestPro to play the new Walkabout mini golf course the other day and omg, the reduced FOV made it feel like my IPD was several inches too narrow and just didn’t feel right. 110+ degrees should be the minimum going forward, and all future VR headsets should do OLED or micro OLED panels. I’m never buying another LCD paneled headset again.

I need to revisit the first S&S game. I have always struggled with the difficulty with my character frequently dying. So much so I may have to restart the game as I think I must have made some bad choices earlier in the game whereby I am now paying the price for this.
Don't know what's going on in the UK. First, the bundle wasn't available, and now the 2nd game still isn't available to buy and has been removed from the PSVR2 page in the store 🤷♂
Does Retribution have too this night bell that rings and call a fukn horde? I'm just a casual player and like to explore with calm... on the first game time just pass too fast and always got eaten after night bells, before i can return to the bus :')
Felt the same during the first game you just have to keep moving and not take everything, but the game is actually quite small in terms of areas you can go
Sometimes a game sequel doesn’t need to push the envelope. Sometimes, more of the same is exactly what you want. One question, how long does a chainsaw last in terms of durability? Does the blade break or does it just need to be refuelled? That’s the part I’m most curious about.
Maybe an obvious question but can you play the ps4 version on ps5 with vr1? Can't find an answer anywhere and wanted to make sure before investing in it. Your reviews are always so helpful
The answer is: You should be able to. But I can't 100% confirm that, I'm sorry. Unfortunately I don't even own the PS4 version and have never even played it. Once PSVR2 came out I was immediately buried in games to play/review and haven't had the chance to go back to last gen yet.
he's a cheap trick i hope they haven't fixed for Chapter 2. use a frying pan as a handheld weapon. Never breaks and it easy to bash zombies heads in plus you can sometimes block bullets fired from human enemies as well!
Can anyone attest to this game’s difficulty? One of my issues with the old one is that it felt too easy during the day. Once I got used to the gameplay loop, I was hardly ever out long enough to get swarmed. The game was the most fun for me when I was frantically trying to escape or fight for my life.
One thing i always hated about S&S part one playing on my quest 2 was the constantly respawning walkers. Not the ones that reappear each day, I'm talking about the ones you kill, turn your back briefly and another has just spawned in to replace it, forcing you to stop what you were doing to kill it or run if you couldnt. I wouldnt have minded so much, but the respawned ones would NEVER have loot on them :( Walkers shouldnt just appear like magic, really spoilt the immersion for me. Did they ever fix it?
On Quest? No. That was a memory issue, which is why you didn't see that on PSVR1 or PCVR. So it's still an issue on Quest but still not an issue anywhere else
Also wonder why I didn't have any issues with draw distances and Mura with this title I really feel like psvr2 is going to be game changing developers just haven't taken full advantage of the ps5 yet
how is the implementation of the haptic feedback? next time maybe also hightlight that aspect of VR for a game you are reviewing. IMO it adds a lot to the experience of VR
The achievements aren't showing up on my PS5 😐 I got one in game, so I know they are there. But they aren't under the game itself, or within the achievement lists. Kinda bugging me lol
Had they called this anything but chapter 2 there would be an uprising of rabbid angry fans complaining it's a copy of the first game. I am glad they named it appropriately so that it gets a great reception.
Great review Bryan! Very well rounded and great details! Can't wait to play this title tomorrow.

I need to revisit the first S&S game. I have always struggled with the difficulty with my character frequently dying. So much so I may have to restart the game as I think I must have made some bad choices earlier in the game whereby I am now paying the price for this.
If they remake the og telltale TWD in VR I would lose my mind
Can't even buy it says not out yet 7am 21st March
Cannot find nothing online or youtube by this issue
So I've never played this series at all. Am I correct in thinking that this is essentially both games in one then?
Another great review Bryan. Can't wait to dive into this and have some fun killing zombies
THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST GAME ON THE PSVR2 YET! wow Just mind blown by how crisp it looks! ❤❤❤❤
Ah yes because graphics are the only thing that matters, forget that the story is bad and the gameplay while sometimes fun, very repetitive.
My main question is, Can I still get on the cars and beat them to death with a frying pan? Best part of the entire game by far for me as I'm a wuss.
Don't know what's going on in the UK. First, the bundle wasn't available, and now the 2nd game still isn't available to buy and has been removed from the PSVR2 page in the store 🤷♂
I will admit I feel overwhelmed with resident evil , then twd
Can't wait for behemoth.
The difference in this compared to the quest version is mind boggling , great review as always nothing but honest facts there
Maybe an obvious question but can you play the ps4 version on ps5 with vr1? Can't find an answer anywhere and wanted to make sure before investing in it. Your reviews are always so helpful
The answer is: You should be able to. But I can't 100% confirm that, I'm sorry. Unfortunately I don't even own the PS4 version and have never even played it. Once PSVR2 came out I was immediately buried in games to play/review and haven't had the chance to go back to last gen yet.
"we bike" - Anderson Silva
he's a cheap trick i hope they haven't fixed for Chapter 2. use a frying pan as a handheld weapon. Never breaks and it easy to bash zombies heads in plus you can sometimes block bullets fired from human enemies as well!
Remember to grab the heads then hit with the op gloves, only takes one hit and gloves last at least 20 or so zombies.
i have 2 copies of saints and sinners but cant seem to get the free upgrade or £10 upgrade, not sure what to do cos dont wanna spend another £32 on it
Can anyone attest to this game’s difficulty? One of my issues with the old one is that it felt too easy during the day. Once I got used to the gameplay loop, I was hardly ever out long enough to get swarmed. The game was the most fun for me when I was frantically trying to escape or fight for my life.
Currently 60% off on thr store. Not finished the first one yet but might pick this up now while its on sale
I wouldnt have minded so much, but the respawned ones would NEVER have loot on them :(
Walkers shouldnt just appear like magic, really spoilt the immersion for me. Did they ever fix it?
On Quest? No. That was a memory issue, which is why you didn't see that on PSVR1 or PCVR. So it's still an issue on Quest but still not an issue anywhere else
Nice. Sadly it isn´t available anymore on the store.
Sitting waiting for the upgrade to 1 so i can finish that then I'll pre order the physical of chapter 2
Combine the amazing physics and mechanics of this game with the story and terror of re 8 and you would ha e the perfect vr horror game
Also wonder why I didn't have any issues with draw distances and Mura with this title I really feel like psvr2 is going to be game changing developers just haven't taken full advantage of the ps5 yet
Out of all the games available, this one is more my speed. Gt7 isn't my thing and re8 is too scary. I'm gonna need a charging station lol
how is the implementation of the haptic feedback? next time maybe also hightlight that aspect of VR for a game you are reviewing. IMO it adds a lot to the experience of VR
It doesn’t add much here. There are haptics and adaptive triggers but both are mild at best.
God this looks so good
The achievements aren't showing up on my PS5 😐
I got one in game, so I know they are there. But they aren't under the game itself, or within the achievement lists. Kinda bugging me lol
Had they called this anything but chapter 2 there would be an uprising of rabbid angry fans complaining it's a copy of the first game. I am glad they named it appropriately so that it gets a great reception.
Maybe submissive game could go for work experience with these devs and learn how to get the most out of a system.
