Cut the choices and consequences of the game and you already have a better game. Linear stories are not bad, its simple and straight to the point. You could probably still have multiple endings with hakon, lawan or solo but it doesn't matter anyway. The game is rigged from the very beginning, they started with a broken game that is still broken to this day, even tho they did some good changes but the player count can talk for itself, people don't care about this game anymore and barely no one is streaming, doing videos about it or whatever. Techland is not a bad company, but they F up pretty hard and should have not promised 5 years of content. I think it would be better if they just started to work on dl3 right after the game was released and maybe do some fixes for the game here and there, release a dlc and done, this game can't really be fixed and they proved it with the announcement of The Beast.
They've recently started doing %60 off instead of %50 off. Also Oct 30th might be when Tower Raid releases and the game goes off sale during big updates so get ready.
Nothing like being OP throughout the game only to have a cutscene take over your character and show what a chump you are. All Aiden's gasping, grunting, panting, and screaming makes it even more apparent. Also get weird looks from my wife while going into a dark area and Aiden suddenly starts making all those goofy sounds like he's about to... Well... You know... 😂
had a rocky start but techland has been improving it ever since. and i praise them for not abandoning their games like other companys and ppl still give them sht
I stopped playing because there wasn't a likable character in the whole game (well, Hakon was OK). I was supposed to go on a faction mission but my "team mates" were so unlikable, I just couldn't do it. I backed off and tried to snipe them but the game wouldn't let me take them out. I turned the game off and haven't been back. It didn't help that combat just doesn't feel visceral like DL1. Everything seems floaty and your strikes just don't seem to do much.
the prefer dying light 2 since for me the over all gameplay is much better like the combat feeling funner and the parkour is smoother even tho the story sort of poopy atleast we got a final boss that isnt a qte. i like the stealth part since it does work not always very well. some people do complain that alot of the buildings are copy and pasted with i can agree with but most towns cities are close enough the same and the layout inside are also close enough like the ones in real life and its the same as the first game have the same problem but not as much yeah the first game is fun and the story is better the combat feels alittle less fun since once u get a gun ur more likely going to use that. in the second game i only use the guns on big boys or the nighttime boys i prefer using the bows one normal enemies. dont want to add more to this since dont want to make it too long
For me the story in DL1 was just as meh as DL2. It was the environment, parlour, combat, etc, that made me love the 1st.the DLC was a beautiful cherry on the somewhat flawed cake. So when the second was released but, imo, it was a step backwards with no vechile, I was kind of expecting the map to have a big city that could only mostly be traversed by foot and surrounded by country side that was best traversed by a vehicle.
I dont hate it, i had 200+ hours of fun, but it still give me felling i will never play the game techland showed us in 2018 on e3, i would love to try it as well. Before anyone says, no "DL the Beast" isn't even close to what was on e3 2018
The choices ruined many games, including mine, I accidentally sided with Juan, which for some reason locks you into him ruling the city for this one decision in the middle of the game, and you also get Locked out of the Hakon church fight which means Lawan dies during the blast, you are also forced to go against jack matt, and frank dies no matter what, all from giving Juan the radio tower, the problem is it makes the game very confusing from this one choice that 33% of the players made, they should have made it more clear that this would be the evil/kill everyone route but they don’t…
Even though I prefer the first DL by quite a bit, I did very much enjoy DL2. An important factor, though, is that even from launch I rarely experienced any bugs in the game (and none of them significant) (it should probably be noted that I only play solo, not multi-player). Now, if I had experienced the issues others were reporting, I would have been extremely disappointed with the game. Re: the story--it's not good (nor was the story in the first game); that said, my expectations for story in the zombie genre (regardless of medium--game, film, etc.) are not high. I think my biggest complaint about DL2 remains the copy-and-paste feel of the map. There have been some minor improvements with recent updates, but it's still painfully obvious. I found myself using the map in DL2 much more than in DL1 simply because I couldn't tell where I was much of the time in DL2 (many of the streets and building interiors looked the same).
I like both games but I think DL1 is overrated. After playing too much DL2 I came back to the first game for the Halloween event, and comparing it to DL2, DL1 feels very clunky and enemies are very tedious to kill with melee weapons, even if you have top tier ones, so you have to rely on instakill abilities and becomes boring after a while. The story of both games are bad and have a lot of moments we're it feels something is missing, but people say DL1 story is good (somehow). What they're both good at is side missions, they have better writing than the main plot. But it annoys me that they say DL1's nights are scary and makes them want to play during daytime until they're strong enough, when they're not scary and aren't difficult at all; the first time I played DL1 I completed the whole story during nighttime because I wanted to level up faster, and the only big difference to daytime is that you have volatiles roaming around, and are very easy to avoid because you rarely find them on rooftops; at release, DL2 didn't have volatiles roaming, and I understand that in this stage of the game nights are just a joke and that's something no one liked, but after the "Good Night, Good Luck" update they brought back volatiles and nights are way more difficult than DL1, even more after they added nightmare difficulty, now there are more differences than just roaming volatiles. And no, DL1 nights aren't darker, they're bright as hell like in DL2, you can see very well without the flashlight.
Just got back into Dying Light 2 after around 2 years and I'm having a blast with it. Bought it on release and was so hyped but wasn't enjoying it and was pretty disappointed For some reason couldn't put my finger on it exactly. On paper it should have been a better game than DL1 but just wasn't. Now with all the updates I would say its a pretty solid game but with only 28 hours in I would say I'm still early on in the game. Since I played 15 hours 2 years ago, I can't really remember the story so I'm talking about everything else except story.
@@mitchh5596 Well im going to try and get all the achievements. I'm just doing a bunch of sidequests atm and haven't touched the main story in ages. After I get the achievements I will probably just uninstall but that will take probably around 100 hours of game time which is good value i think.
I am missing the most that the choices are irrelevant and that claim that every gameplay will be unique was a lie. At least they bring back the roaming Volatiles. The gameplay is ok, but the story is really meh.
Pawal forced the DL2 release early after they fired Avellone so that he could get his 200m $ bonus for hitting the sales number and releasing on time. I still wonder what this game could have been if it wasnt for greedy suits as always...
Jay i may not know you but dying light 2 has more good reviews then bad ones i will say dying light 2 release was terrible but its ways better now thats why its got more good reviews then bad ones an i quote “A monster of a sequel.” A monster of a sequel.” 9.5/10 - Game Informer “A massive, exciting sandbox.” 8.4/10 - PC Gamer “The most intelligent zombie game.” 4/5 - TechRadar
The dying light 1 story sucks. -Burned the antinzin knowing he could have kept it and used it for himself -Non-existence build-up of relationships between Crane and the main supporting characters that made their death weightless. -How the F did Rahim become Crane's best friend😂. -Crane having delusions of Jade giving him directions was pointless -Breken "victim of being white in the story"
I don't. I love this game even more than the first one. DL 1 was more realistic (except grapling hook) but DL 2 have faster and enjoyable parkour and fighting system.
I can't comment on story in its entirety yet, I just started the game cause it's 60% off on steam, but yeah it's bad. Terrible really but..... I didn't get the game for its story anyway. I got it to slaughter zombies, have some "OH F#&K" moments as a volatile jumps me, and explore a different take on a post apocalyptic world. So far it's well worth the $33 it costed me to pick up lol. There are still a ton of updates to come which is nice as well, seems they are sticking to the 5 years of support promise they made. Lots of community input is either being worked on, or in the queue. It's not a completely terrible game, but it's not a hidden gem either.
Watched this just to hear some discourse that i didnt think id agree with and i dont. Thought the parkour is bad for multiple reasons, combat was also bad for multiple reasons (trying not to write a wall), thought the progression was hollow, the story was awful, the choices are less than meaningful i cant really thibk of anything positive to say other than realistic grappling hook physics. Unfortunately i bought the 100$ package to top it off
After all the updates the games a solid 8/10 in terms of gameplay (needs better ragdoll physics) but every time I play a story mission it drags the game down to a 3/10, there are some solid ones here and there but nowhere near enough to save it, also almost every character in this game makes me want to rip my own ears off every time they talk with their corny ass dialogue.
The updates were good, but the story is still garbage. I hate all the characters except for Spike, who was in the first game and only appeared in the beginning for 2 seconds
my conclusion as of yet, both games are equally good but i like dl2 more ok, so i haven't finished the game yet, but i love the game, funny thing because the ai is different from dl1 it's way scarrier for me, i can set it from, no pain no gain lighting to aaaaaaa wtf the darkness is touching me cheecks! essentially i haven't played the game for like 6 months (some friendship issues) i played it and i was like, ah so volatiles spawn on roofs now, that's pretty cool, so i went inside a building and had an volatile jump and climb trough a hole in the wall and then clap my cheecks in a corner. peak gameplay honestly, altho we need a difficulty mode called ''realism'' essentially, get caugh in the dark? you get ur cheecks clapped, you can bleed out, actually you know what, just make project zomboid but dying light, imagine! you miss your jump and breake your leg now you have to limp to a safe zone, perhaps splint will speed up the healing? no clue, anyways words of wisdom, there are fun and good bugs, like dl1 borderlands 2,3 and just cause 2,3 but there are bad bugs like ur save being lost or getting stuck in a wall forever) also i like how colourful the game is, also there still is the setting to make the game more bleak, not sure how long it took you to make the video but fair enough
DL2 has the same problem most modern AAA games have: it's to big and open. Dying light was a linear game, with a basic z straightforward story and "short". DL2 went the open-world route, with "500 hours of gameplay". I've never saying a single game be better with this jump in scale than it was as a linear experience.
Best sequel ever? Not even close buddy. Mass Effect 2, KOTOR 2, The Original Battlefront 2 would like to have a word. The hate was deserved. At launch. Now its a fantastic game.
Well they did say some things and made some decisions that turned a lot a people away from the game. Now don’t get me wrong I pre ordered the game and ended up playing for 60 hours straight and enjoyed it.
the biggest problem i have with this game is the parkour I dont know how you can fuck up such an important mechanic but they did, its floaty it doesnt feel natural at all and it was basically perfect in the first one so that makes it even worse. Changing the physic option doesnt help its still to floaty and mods that correct the physics fuck up the collision with enemies and other objects
Dying Light 1's parkour was floaty too. When you literally get on a car while jumping, you literally float over it which is annoying and doesn't let you jump again, it felt like flying. And the parkour system wasn't deep in the first game.
@@ramtinyadegar9509 sure from a specific angle but jumping from ledge to ledge and the overall feeling was very good. They just dumped it down in the second one, its like a magnet is following you around
I dont care about story DL2 cuz this still be cancer, aaaaaand Techland begin sucking at making games, i will not be shocked if they will forget about DL2 to make DL the beast, the same way as they stop working on DL Bad blood in 2019 for working on DL2 and we got this dumb version of DL2, if they would wait more time and not do mistake of cyberpunk developers
The only people who hate this game from what i see are the people who haven't played since launch or be the zombie players from one (which is valid cus that gamemode rocks)
Im a certified dl2 hater, I recently replayed dl1 & dl2 with my girlfriend, and after coming back to dl2 2 years post-release I literally was begging for the game to end mid-way through the story at some point the best thing about it was me, and my gf roasting it for being bad. Since release the game feels infinitely more arcady and every 2 minutes a notification I got broke my immersion. They really haven't done anything with the combat the hand-to-hand combat is fun no doubt but melee weapons imo are dog water. If your game only uses melee weapons add variety. Blunt and blade weapons are the same besides some knocking around and others slice things you could add shields for bashing and cc, and spears for poking. Dual-wielding like do something they make these cool-looking weapons but they might as well be skins. The story is Mega Dog Water that's not even contested. I was excited for night to be scary as it was a problem in my original playthrough, but its hard to avoid volatiles cus there's so many so night stealth feels unreasonable but you don't even need to stealth tbh cus its so easy to run from super human mega zombies ironically had there are so many safe spots as well. Just felt so let down by this game it didn't need to be better then dl1 but it should of been comparable at the least.
I wish content creators stop doing things like this. You make a video with 3000 memes and jokes its hard to pay attention to what your saying like that. None of them are funny whatsoever. Sheesh, stop doing that !
I thought it was just me lol. It is dumb when they do it, and really does takes the focus off of the video. Usually when creators do this Ill just not watch any more of their content if it shows up in recommendations.
Pea brain haters, the video was funny and added character compared to half the other yappers that make criticism videos, buddy can’t read and listen at the same time lol
3 of the 5 years of post launch content and all we got are remakes and reworks of broken in game mechanics that dont even manage to live up to the original. Oh and a beta tower mission? Let me repeat that, a beta for the third year of game support…
This games was criticized for being different and for not changing. DL was better but not different enough for one to be a masterpiece and the other trash. DL2 was a good game considered bad for not meeting unrealistic expectations from immature fanboys, that despite being 30, still act like 14.
Dude it was clearly unfinished, rigged with bugs and issues at launch, wtf are you talking about¿? And they promised things that they didn't deliver, like a good story 🤣Also it was even downgraded in certain things compared to DL1, like the ragdoll physics among other stuff. And those expectations were set by Techland, it is their own fault if on top of setting such high expectations they released an unfinished game. PD: Immature fanboys, is funny coming from you who is defending so blindly this game's state at launch (which is undefendable but whatever), you clearly are the fanboy here dude 😂
"Immature fanboys" So explaining why a game is bad is being immature? The game is rigged from the very beginning, they started with a broken game that is still broken to this day, even tho they did some good changes but the player count can talk for itself, people don't care about this game anymore and barely no one is streaming, doing videos about it or whatever.
Techland is not a bad company, but they F up pretty hard and should have not promised 5 years of content. I think it would be better if they just started to work on dl3 right after the game was released and maybe do some fixes for the game here and there, release a dlc and done, this game can't really be fixed and they proved it with the announcement of The Beast.
I hated it at launch, but I've replayed it about 6 months ago, and it's in my top 15 games
Crazy timing. I've been thinking about this game a lot lately just waiting for a big sale
They've recently started doing %60 off instead of %50 off. Also Oct 30th might be when Tower Raid releases and the game goes off sale during big updates so get ready.
I really do enjoy playing this game. i just wasn't a fan of the story
I am doing a replay now, I am really liking the game. I can't put my finger on it, but it just feels different than DL1 but its still pretty good.
I hate this game, I’ve spent 100 hours on it
Just got back into Dying Light 2 after around 2 years and I'm having a blast with it.
Take it slow, enjoy every moment, it's not very replayable sadly. I had an absolute blast with it, subsequent playthroughs don't feel as good.
@@mitchh5596 Well im going to try and get all the achievements. I'm just doing a bunch of sidequests atm and haven't touched the main story in ages. After I get the achievements I will probably just uninstall but that will take probably around 100 hours of game time which is good value i think.
It's a good game now if story doesn't affect your enjoyment, which isn't the case for me so no DL2 in my lib.
It was a bad game on release
But a lot changed since then. Playing it now, I see that it's still pure trash, but a bit reworked
Dying light 1 is 4 bucks on steam atm AUD. or $22 definite edition... or.. DL1 DE and D2 for $52 . Which should I get?
Get definitive edition of one first and if you enjoy it play 2 afterwards 💪
Jay i may not know you but dying light 2 has more good reviews then bad ones i will say dying light 2 release was terrible but its ways better now thats why its got more good reviews then bad ones an i quote “A monster of a sequel.”
A monster of a sequel.”
9.5/10 - Game Informer
“A massive, exciting sandbox.”
8.4/10 - PC Gamer
“The most intelligent zombie game.”
4/5 - TechRadar
The dying light 1 story sucks.
-Burned the antinzin knowing he could have kept it and used it for himself
-Non-existence build-up of relationships between Crane and the main supporting characters that made their death weightless.
-How the F did Rahim become Crane's best friend😂.
-Crane having delusions of Jade giving him directions was pointless
-Breken "victim of being white in the story"
Unfortunately i bought the 100$ package to top it off
Waltz is Aiden's father tho, he says "son" in one of the lines during the boss fight
After all the updates the games a solid 8/10 in terms of gameplay (needs better ragdoll physics) but every time I play a story mission it drags the game down to a 3/10, there are some solid ones here and there but nowhere near enough to save it, also almost every character in this game makes me want to rip my own ears off every time they talk with their corny ass dialogue.
calling dying light 2 the best sequel is like calling hunt down the freeman half life 3.
The updates were good, but the story is still garbage.
I hate all the characters except for Spike, who was in the first game and only appeared in the beginning for 2 seconds
be a zombie not being in the game is a lost opportunity
Shoutout to TheJayMan for chasing the bag fr
(The add was peak)
my conclusion as of yet, both games are equally good but i like dl2 more
ok, so i haven't finished the game yet, but i love the game, funny thing because the ai is different from dl1 it's way scarrier for me, i can set it from,
no pain no gain lighting
to aaaaaaa wtf the darkness is touching me cheecks!
essentially i haven't played the game for like 6 months (some friendship issues) i played it and i was like, ah so volatiles spawn on roofs now, that's pretty cool, so i went inside a building and had an volatile jump and climb trough a hole in the wall and then clap my cheecks in a corner. peak gameplay honestly, altho we need a difficulty mode called ''realism'' essentially, get caugh in the dark? you get ur cheecks clapped, you can bleed out, actually you know what, just make project zomboid but dying light, imagine! you miss your jump and breake your leg now you have to limp to a safe zone, perhaps splint will speed up the healing? no clue, anyways words of wisdom, there are fun and good bugs, like dl1 borderlands 2,3 and just cause 2,3 but there are bad bugs like ur save being lost or getting stuck in a wall forever) also i like how colourful the game is, also there still is the setting to make the game more bleak, not sure how long it took you to make the video but fair enough
It's a good game but we deserved the 2019 version
That is because they botched it, from the ground up the game is lackluster compared to the first in just about everything single way
I liked it. But I can see why fans of the 1st didn't like the sequel
Loved this game no hud made it 10x better
DL2 has the same problem most modern AAA games have: it's to big and open.
Dying light was a linear game, with a basic z straightforward story and "short".
DL2 went the open-world route, with "500 hours of gameplay". I've never saying a single game be better with this jump in scale than it was as a linear experience.
The problem is to many people want these super long 500+ hour games and complain when they don't get it because the devs wanted to give actual quality
Anyone here play on PS5?

Best sequel ever? Not even close buddy. Mass Effect 2, KOTOR 2, The Original Battlefront 2 would like to have a word. The hate was deserved. At launch. Now its a fantastic game.
That is why the beast is back
Bad game at launch, pretty good now
Fr it ain’t that bad now
Hakon, I will never love you 😑 Frank zthe Best! ✨
I can feel my chest slamming to the edge of a rusty roof every time I fell just enough for a grab 🤣
@@Daxer2009turn off edge grab assist. Dl1 parkour was barebones and they knew it, that's why they added that grappling hook
Oil up at 20k subs
I dont care about story DL2 cuz this still be cancer, aaaaaand Techland begin sucking at making games, i will not be shocked if they will forget about DL2 to make DL the beast, the same way as they stop working on DL Bad blood in 2019 for working on DL2 and we got this dumb version of DL2, if they would wait more time and not do mistake of cyberpunk developers
I don't hate it.
I see funger
why do u guys hate the game, the only entertaining part is messing around with a demolisher
The only people who hate this game from what i see are the people who haven't played since launch or be the zombie players from one (which is valid cus that gamemode rocks)
@@TheCoolJayMan wait, is it cuz u can't repair ur weapon like in dying light 1?
@@jaylovesUA-cam-t6jthat too. alot of small things that led to big things which led to the good things about the second being overshadowed.
Hakon the best!!!
Humans are boring want more zombros
I wish content creators stop doing things like this. You make a video with 3000 memes and jokes its hard to pay attention to what your saying like that. None of them are funny whatsoever. Sheesh, stop doing that !
I thought it was just me lol. It is dumb when they do it, and really does takes the focus off of the video. Usually when creators do this Ill just not watch any more of their content if it shows up in recommendations.
@@cyrellarrington1587 same, this will be the first and last video ill watch from this channel.
Pea brain haters, the video was funny and added character compared to half the other yappers that make criticism videos, buddy can’t read and listen at the same time lol
this guy is actually funny and not annoying
Cope, this game will always remain trash at its core
are u rekarced
3 of the 5 years of post launch content and all we got are remakes and reworks of broken in game mechanics that dont even manage to live up to the original.
Oh and a beta tower mission?
Let me repeat that, a beta for the third year of game support…
A “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam suggests that it is not universally hated like your title suggests. Stop with the clickbait bullshit.
look in the comment and youtube videos, there are still plenty of hate
This games was criticized for being different and for not changing.
DL was better but not different enough for one to be a masterpiece and the other trash.
DL2 was a good game considered bad for not meeting unrealistic expectations from immature fanboys, that despite being 30, still act like 14.
The expectations were set by techlands own trailers, it's on them for not delivering anything even close to that
Dude it was clearly unfinished, rigged with bugs and issues at launch, wtf are you talking about¿? And they promised things that they didn't deliver, like a good story 🤣Also it was even downgraded in certain things compared to DL1, like the ragdoll physics among other stuff.
And those expectations were set by Techland, it is their own fault if on top of setting such high expectations they released an unfinished game.
PD: Immature fanboys, is funny coming from you who is defending so blindly this game's state at launch (which is undefendable but whatever), you clearly are the fanboy here dude 😂
@@ryangosling3331 Right on the nail.
"Immature fanboys" So explaining why a game is bad is being immature? Brother you are commenting everywhere meat riding techland because people are actually pointing out real issues with the game from the start to now and you are going after them, idk who's more immature but im gonna bet on you.
Probably ragebaiting but yea, sucks to be you bro.
Still a shit game
