Yes, saw that working 2 weeks of 12 hour days. He would be waiting by the door for me, and rubbing up. However he had lots of entertainment, watching cat TV in the window. Still does not like people, but getting more comfortable with them. As a rescue he rarely makes a noise other than a chirp or a purr.

My cat was super clingy and would wait at the window when I leave the house. It broke my heart. Being a nurse, I'll he gone for 12 to 14 hours a shift. Couldn't bare doing that to her. Got another cat. And they are bonded. Best decision I made

My first cat, Kabocha, had separation anxiety, we could hear her howling at the top of her lungs whenever I left the house, it didn't matter if my sister were with her or not.
We decided to adopt a cat, Nasu, and after they started to be friendly, Kabocha's separation anxiety stopped. We were lucky to adopt such a friendly cat, Nasu has been in love with Kabocha from week 1, I dare say she loves Kabocha more then me lol

I got my kitty January 11 and omg she's stuck to me CONSTANTLY I'm with her 24 7.....I hope she ALWAYS stays this close....I never been so in love ....... ohhhhh she's just the best...I wasn't a cat person.....I wouldn't give my kitty away for a million dollars.....it's the cuddling and kisses I get......and I'm a depressed man.....but not now.....my kitty made my life soooooo much better already

My cats were all abandoned kittens on my property that I'd rescued from 2019 to 2020.When I was in the hospital for 10 days in 2021 a friend came to feed my 6 kitties. When I finally got home they all rushed at me, meowing loudly. I never felt so loved and I realized how much they valued my presence.
There's a song I made up the first day I got my cat, Karen. It's silly and stupid but there are a few verses. I start to sing it at the front door when i come home. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a complete crazy cat lady but i don't even care. Karen is always waiting at the door as soon as I open it. I like to think it's because I'm serenading her. 😆 ❤
whenever my dad or mom leaves the house to take the dog for a walk, to go to the store, or any other reason that removes them from her sight, my cat will go to the front door (usually open, showing the storm door) and will start meowing and pawing at the door. she will not move unless she's interrupted, and will go back to the front door in minutes lol. i love her dearly
We have three cats. One of them, Coco, must hear me returning. She waits patiently behind the door. I have to open it carefully so I won’t hit her.😊I peek around the door and there she is. It makes me feel as good seeing her as she seeing me.

Yeah mine too, but 1. also cats don't like closed doors especially when they don't know what happens with you inside there. 2. Also some cats might ssociate water with something scary, so they might also be worried about you or 3. just curious
I have two cats that just kind of tolerate each other. When I come home from work, they both are sitting by the door and the orange boy tends to just whine and follow me around for the rest of the night. The tabby girl will just kind of see that I came inside and they she will leave me alone until bedtime, when she decides she needs all of the attention.
Neither of them are usually around when I leave to go to work, though. He usually steals my spot on the bed the second I get up to get ready, though.
Ozzie meows, then fetches his toy mice and places them behind the entrance door. Sometimes he thinks I left, but I'm just in another room.
When we come home from work one of our cats sit on her perch in the window waving to us like come in

My big white cat, Karen, waits for me at the corner of the apartment complex we live in. When I walk to the store and come back, she's always waiting for me, sitting on the corner. Sometimes she's waiting in the bushes and will jump out and scare me. She's hilarious! ❤
It sounds as though she wants to play 'Tigers' They are real characters and their faces say everything. There is a saying 'You don't own a cat, they own you
I know she does! I'm a travel nurse, we travel in a traveltrailer, plus I work 12 hour shifts, when I get home she is on top of the couch scratching her scratcher. It's almost like she is saying daddy's home daddy's home! She has food out, but she won't eat most days until I get home, and I eat. On nights I'm off, she plays, we watch TV (she sleeps on my lap), when I wash dishes, she gets the vroom, I play chase her, then we watch TV and go to sleep.
We may have changes coming up, we will see how it goes.

I know my boy misses me when I'm gone. He comes to the door when I get home and it's the only time he rolls over for belly rubs. This is of course only when I've been at work and gone 8 hrs.
If I'm only gone a little while , like shopping he still comes to the door but it's really just nose around inside the bags. 😝
I used to work 3rd shift and he did not like it, would mowl around 2am. I know cause I set up an old cell phone as a camera so I could keep an eye on him.
Now, I have an actual indoor camera and since I don't work 3rd shift, he is content to just sleep the day away. With that said he does wake up about half an hour before I'm due home and just sits there staring toward the door.
I makes me sad to see him lonely but warms my heart at the same time. He loves me 💖 and I love him 💝

I have 3 kitties, Salem misses me while I'm at home....when I go to take a shower he wanders around crying like I've deserted him. He also cries when I actually leave the house too.
I leave the tv or radio on, and I have 2 way cameras and I can talk to her or I use my Alexa to chat with her .I also leave my pjs in her cat bed so she has my scent
I go to conventions a few times a year. The first time I went to one after bringing my oldest cat home, she was on top of the fridge when I got home and launched herself off, knocking over multiple cereal boxes, in he lr rush to get to me. She hates physical attention but wanted me to hold her for a good 2 minutes. She puts up a tough front, but she misses me when I'm gone. Both cats immediately run over to greet me when I get home from work and both complain when I'm in the bathroom without them. I have heard from roommates that my oldest will sometimes cry for me when I go to work, but mostly they both just use the time I'm at work to lazily nap throughout the day. Or, for one cat, to lightly terrorize my roommates.
I miss my kitty when I have to leave the house for groceries.
I think he looks forward to looking in the bags and see what I got . It's not until I get my suitcase out and put it in the car that he starts to watch closely. He seems to handle a couple of days ok. But he does sit in the window and watch for me. Then I have to feed him when I get home and rub his belly then he's seems good.
My cat drags her favorite wand toy either to the front door or up on the bed when I go out. Not sure what she’s trying to say… it’s cute though I’ve broken one before by opening the door 😆

One of my cats was homeless and i rescued her from the street I think she misses me she is with me a lot
Our ginger girl seemed to be really bored at the age of three. She was part of a feral community and luckily we saved her life at five weeks but she never got a chance to play with other cats in her developmental stage so when we decided to introduce her to a mackerel tabby boy into our home it was a slight adjustment for her. From time to time they do play together but thankfully they coexist together when we are away from the house.
My Skittle most definitely misses me when I'm not home... or even every morning (I have to keep her outside the bedroom or I would never get sleep, as she bounces around all night long). In addition to meows and purrs, she will compulsively "groom me" intensely for 5-10 minutes when she sees me "for the first time" that day. Licks me to death... no sign of destructive behavior, urinary issues, etc., so I think she just misses me; she bonded strongly when I adopted her from the shelter.
My cat loves me. Every night, he sleeps right next to me underneath my arm against my side.
I need my cat as much as he needs me.

I went from working from home full time to having to be in the office 3x a week. Mine definitely miss me. Thankfully, they're at an age where they sleep a good part of the day, and they have each other. I also have various toys and window beds, etc to keep them occupied.
A huge blessing I also have is that my retired parents live right next door to me. On office days, they will come over for 20 or 30 minutes to refill the food bowl, play with them, and just be there with them. That's a suggestion that maybe others can use as well. I know not everyone lives next door to their parents, but maybe there's a retired man or woman next door who would welcome and love the opportunity to spend a little time with your pets while you're away.
That's a great idea-more community and connection can help to ensure that your cats are never lonely.
My Moosha misses me when I leave the couch to go to the kitchen. She's 18 and super clingy.
So, my girl is no longer with me and I am still heartbroken and know I will be for as long as I remain without her here; however, we both suffered separation anxiety and I was able to do a few helpful things for her. For one, I left plenty of things that I wore around the house. Cats have a sensitive sense of smell, so I'm sure my scent was somewhat of a comfort for her. I also made a tape recording of all the things I would say to dote over her, and I'd play the tape while I was out so she could now, not only smell my scent, but hear my voice. I also made our home as comfortable as possible for her. I'd make sure her litter box was always clean, water always fresh, and food was always available. I made sure she had spaces just for herself so she had a cave to escape to, two window perches, a scratching post, toys, and catnip that she could stumble upon for a nice surprise. She was always at the door waiting for me when I returned, more like the way a dog would greet you. She also waited outside the shower for me while I showered. My lap was her favorite space so while I was home she had plenty of lap brushing, massages, and snuggles. I miss her painfully every day and it has been about twelve years. It doesn't really ever get better. I think about getting another companion sometimes and a lot of feelings come up. I'd feel disloyal, I think, and possibly disappointed. I know she is one of a kind and cannot be replaced. Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it.
My (current) cat "Molleke" can handle being alone, he just sleeps and keeps on sleeping throughout the day.
...But when i'm home, he can't handle being left alone for one minute. I can't even go to the toilet without him waking up and following me.
This last summer, we added cameras around the house when on vacation. One of our kitties (Sawyer) sat and watched the door looking for us to return nearly the entire time. So hard to see! This last vacation he is so much better! I think he likes our new pet sitter better. They bonded quickly (for Sawyer). I really like having the cameras when we are gone. Peace of mind. I love watching my cats on the cameras when I'm away. Sometimes I watch them when I'm in bed at night.
My cats all 3 miss me then. If they're not already by the door when I walk in, when I open the door they come running to it 😅
My new Persian kitten has a SEVERE allergy to anything with smells! Cleaners, candles, wipes, etc. he gets watery eyes, vomits, and has diarrhea…even if I just spray a little bit of Lysol in a room! It’s insane! Can you do a video on the best cleaning products for cats?! Or any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Edit* we went to vet and did blood tests, fecal, food trials, body checkup, etc. finding out that it was smells… he’s perfectly healthy except for his sensitivity!
What should I use to clean my floors? Wash his stuff? Clean his litter box?! His fur if he gets messy? Under his eyes? Our home? So many things either come with a scent, or are made with PLANT material, which cats are allergic to…I am so lost!

Whenever I leave home for a few days, my cat starts to inspect my things to see if there is anything missing. She starts to get super anxious and clingy especially a day before my trip. My brother would say my cat would wait at our door until I come home. But when I do come back, she would be snobbish and doesn’t want to be around me.😂
My cat's an adult rescue. Got her at 4 yo and have had her almost 2 years. Though it took a while, she is now deeply attached as if I've had her since kittenhood. Though she'll somtime nap in another room, mostly she follows me room to room. I'm a little worried if I have have to be away for a long time or return to office.
I’m sure my kitty misses me when I head off to work, but being I’m a graveyarder, I try to put him down for bed before I leave. It seems to work for when I return he’s well rested, stretches, and jumps onto my bed😊before I get ready for bed.

Mine will cry if I'm gone for a day but if I talk to him through the camera microphone it calms him. Poor guy will have a raspy throat if I'm gone for too long.

The Bengal I had was utterly inconsolable if I left him for a few days. He would range feed, which was great, but if I went away for a long weekend, he'd yell at me for about half an hour when I got home. As he was yelling, he would walk away from me, keeping just out of reach so I couldn't pick him up or pet him. Eventually he would calm down and become social again. That night, like every night, he would jump up on the bed when I would call it a night and turn around three times in a circle before settling in between my legs. RIP Genghis Khat.

While we advocate for adoption vs. purchasing from a breeder, there's nothing wrong with appreciating and specifying the breed of your cat. I don't think anyone should be harsh towards this loving cat parent who's lost a companion.@@starkravingralph

I think my cats miss me, but, really, they miss the food I give them.
When I'm gone, and I have a helper to feed them, they are happy - but, that said, they do seem to be happier when when I get home. :D

My girl cat will handout at the door for hour's so I have to be careful opening the door. She did pickup a urinary tract infection that could be related to separation, I'm a truck driver and I'm gone for weeks.
If your gone for long times you should get another cat or two so they wont be lonely

When I leave for work my calico stands in front of the door screaming at me and attacks my legs, then when I get home she is at the door meowing and wanting to be picked up right away. (When I'm not there she just sleeps)
I need some hints to help my cat. I going to be gone for month. I have housemates and there are other cats in the house.
Make sure your housemates really bond with your kitty. And leave some of your clothing arranged on your bed so he can continue to have your scent nearby.
I can now definitively say that my cats definitely do not miss me. Not that I'm not gone. I've left them alone for 3 days before they just don't miss me.
They do. They are not humans, take everything these "influencers" say with a grain of salt. Speak to a cat psychologist.

@@aurorat7633 Nah, they get used to routine but if you get in habit of saying bye b4 you leave but not when you're actually leaving. Do you have all kinds of toys or wall stairs, cat trees, stuff like that? If so, kitty should settle or play pretty quick cuz they're smart, they trust you're coming back. Don't coddle when acting anxious, it's like rewarding a bad behavior although this is not exactly the same, try to walk around with keys and things you do leave with, then put them down, carry around again...rinse, repeat lol It basically desensitizes them and by leaving quietly after saying bye earlier, they usually just chillax and get used to that. Mix it up, do on days off...just don't worry. Cats are very resilient and forgiving. ❤ Oops, meant to respond to OC, sorry!!!

If I have to run errands or leave the house and I'm only gone for a little while I leave the window open so he can have fresh air but if I go somewhere for more than 2 days I have a Amazon tablet that I set next to his crate and I have it set so I can video chat with him once or twice a day but I've only used that setup twice plus if your cat misses you get a old t shirt or buy a cheap shirt and wear it for a day and when you leave place it in there safe space

I had a chance to see my youngest son who lives in it different state so I was gone 3 days. I had a babysitter. Their godcat and they're comfortable with him but the youngest cat for almost a week would not get near me. He was so mad
My cat hates playing and the texture of scratching posts. I think he's defective but I love him anyway.
I got a 2nd cat just so they are never alone :) Mine seem to loooove me but are also fine when I'm gone for half a day or so.

Confirmed ... my cats don't give a flip when I'm gone. I've been able to be gone for up to four days and return to an attitude of indifference, at least until bedtime. Fortunately, I've become good friends with my neighbors across the street, so they can now stop by every three days or so to top off food and water. This has allowed me to be gone up to a week last year. And once I returned, it was as if I'd never left.

This is such an interesting quirk! From what I understand, this tends to be associated with some sort of food insecurity early in life and deep attachment to the human. It's a sign that the cat feels safest when you're around.

My cat has passed but he definitely missed me when I was either at work or just out 😂 He was definitely a Mama's boy, chatty from the time I got home til he ate 😂 I never minded it, him cause I rescued him & he changed my life for the best & it was a very sad day for me when he passed ❤

Hi Mallory, My female cat has sleep seizures, she never sleeps it seems, anxiety kinda cat, been like it since she was a kitten 1.5 years old. I feed her rawz , feline natural and tiki cat all canned. I read a cat’s diet should have 50% protein source and 30% fat, but these foods always seem to be low in fat. Am I reading it wrong…if you have any advice , it would be greatly appreciated. I want her to eat the perfect food….please help Brian.

They can be, but it's generally a good idea to pair up cats who are around the same age as one another.
Woah, let me stop you right at the start. They can become 'super bonded' to you at any age, even older and mature rescues. All of my cat companions over the last 25 years have been rescues, and mostly mature rescues.
The myth that cats will only really bond from a really young age is false. If you give a rescue what s/he needs, they will bond. No question.
This myth is why kittens get adopted first, and older cats languish at the rescue centre. Let me tell you, kittens are a lot of work, and most people do not realise it. An older cat that has been through a lot will cling to you just as much.
Thank you for pointing that out. You're right; I spoke too generally about it, using "bonding" to refer to what is, more formally, "imprinting"-while cats can, as your experience demonstrates, bond to a human at any age, true imprinting only occurs during that socialization window.

Cat enrichment devices:
I drilled a bird size hole, about two and a half inches in diameter in the upper wall of the mudroom. Then I placed half of a bird house on the outside and a one way flap on the inside. So the birds can come into the mudroom but almost none can find their way out. Then I place some bird seed in a bowl on the shelf my cat likes to sun bathe in the mudroom.
So now, instead of coming home to a stressed out lonely cat,
I return to a very happy cat and a headless bird or two on the mudroom floor...
I COULD PLAY WITH YOURS TO MAKE IT EXTRA FUN AND HAPPY
