Great vidio I just picked one of these silverstreak mowers up for 5 dollars will see if I can get it going tomorrow. Thanks for a great vidio cheers steve
Great fix Drew...Beautiful Alloy deck...The tread on the wheels looks good..maybe this Victa hasnt been thrashed...Will outlast all the Bunnings China junk.
Hey Drew, in your experience have you ever noticed much difference in the older power torques compared to the newer ones power wise? I've always been curious if the bigger snorkel, exhaust and straight intake manifold on the later models actually make that much difference.
Hi Mate, to be honest the newer ones with the bigger snorkel in my opinion appear to have been set at a lower RPM from the factory. People suggest that the bigger snorkel was for efficiency purposes, I think what was happening is that VICTA was trying to meet emissions standards being enforced from the EPA in the later years and they did a combination of things to try and meet EPA standards. I like to increase the RPM of these later models by swapping out the main governor spring as per this video: ua-cam.com/video/-xARDzg8kLw/v-deo.html Cheers Drew
Picked up one of these recently. It's the Limited Edition with red top plastic panel. Any idea on the year/s they were made? Thanks to your clear videos I've learned a lot of basic 2 stroke maintenance in a short time
Nice! It’s great how you fix the old victa 2 strokes I love them my self I’ve got to be my self I’m going to restore. I’ve got the Victa Bronco 2 Stroke not much on them haven’t seen many around.
Hi Drew I’ve got my Victa Bronco, I did a cold start, turned fuel tap on primed 3 times, throttle to run, stop and then to start position and it ran fine, but I turned it off then tried to start it again and it won’t start. What could be the issue. Thanks
Hey mate, love your videos. Im fixing up one of these mowers, and ive got a quick question. Do they have a dry sump? Or am i supposed to be putting oil in the engine. I cant see anywhere to put oil in. I have fixed heaps of mowers, but only usually work with the 4 strokes.
Hi Rhys, you need to add oil to the petrol at a 25:1 ratio. With the Victa 2 stroke there is no crankcase oil to fill as such, what happens is the air/fuel mix first enters the crankcase and the oil in the fuel leaves a oily residue behind which lubricates the engine components! Cheers Drew
@@DrewFixIt thanks. I figured as much. But wasn't sure if I was supposed to also put something somewhere to lubricate the crank. I fix up street mowers from council collection and put them back into service. Your videos were helpful with this one. I was unsure about 2 strokes, but will now start picking them up too.
good job mate , one of your earlier videos you did on compression testing and someone commented the tester you were using was going to give you a low reading , you did a follow up video on compression testing and used a different tester that worked , what was the brand of the tester ? I have been told they need to have a shrader valve in them Cheers Matt
Hi Matty, thanks for the feedback! I have just purchased this compression tester for myself: amzn.to/46RsyRL I believe this unit to be a quality unit that will not have the issues that I identified with the other unit. I have not even opened the packaging yet, so will do an unboxing and comparison test in a few weeks time (basically when I get over the silly season rush) and post it to UA-cam! Cheers Drew
@@DrewFixIt I’m located in Victoria happy to pay for shipping. Just to confirm I have a victa utility 460 professional side discharge which came with 6” front wheels and 7” rear wheels will these go on it ? As they look same as what on mine. Cheers
Hi Gary, I reckon you've pulled me up on the air filters before? The funny thing is for the Victa 2 stroke mowers it's always the last thing that I worry about checking ... it's probably coz the cap is a bit painful to get off ... I do agree it's probably my bad but once I get them running I just stop fiddling and send'em! Cheers Drew
Yes Drew,,,The 2 strokes can take a lot of punishment.I came across a street Victa and the air filter was just paste but now is my main mower.Keep your videos coming mate.Long live Victa 2 stroke. @@DrewFixIt

That was great! Would have been nice to see the rest of the rusty stuff tidied up but good job and it sounded sweet 👍
Hi Dylan, don’t worry there is plenty more rusty stuff lying around for me to clean up on the channel …. stay tuned 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers Drew

Great work Drew, it's amazing how many mowers get discarded simply because the owners are unable to perform some simple maintenance. Cheers.
Hi Mate, agreed and it's really not that hard to get most of them running again!! Cheers Drew

Good job. Blade fins are worn off so won’t catch grass as well. Maybe replace blades
Thanks mate, I should do. Probably bad of me but I generally just focus on getting them running with as little effort as possible! Cheers Drew

@@sebastianleone3660 hi mate, it’s most likely flooded. Pull the primer cap off and if it’s full of fuel it’s almost certainly flooded! Cheers Drew
