Omg it really really worked my bulb in my microwave broke away from the base and low and behold I watched your video tried it come out with no issues and I had only used the cap because of the angle. So thank you much. Where I’m from we call that hillybilly ingenuity 😆

I did all this, the bulb keeps burning out as soon as I turn it on. Any clue as to why?

Whirlpool engines are idiots--sealing in a bulb with silicone. Not knowing this, I unscrewed the glass bulb from its base.

@@avioncutter884 Here is a thought....try using needle nose pliers on the metal bulb housing/base---just make sure the unit is unplugged!! I've used this technique before with success.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I couldn’t figure out why the light bulb wouldn’t unscrew. WHY Whirlpool would silicon caulk in an appliance light bulb is baffling to me. Plus you’re doing in from underneath and would never know. Horrible design.

@@avioncutter884 You can undo the bottem panel which is secured with 8 screws and then it drops down the light bulb holder... easier to remove it that way.

maybe they used the silicone as a vibration damper. i gotta change mine once i go get the bulb.

The angle of this bulb and its recepticle is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to access or see without removing the entire unit unless you are a contortionist. I am a 71-yr-old woman who chose not to remove the unit from the wall and turn it upside down. The bulb is so awkwardly located that you need a mirror against the rear wall to see what you are doing. The factory-installed bulb separated from it's base while I attempted to unscrew it and it remains stuck inside the housing. I invested an hour trying to remove the broken base of the bulb using needle nose pliers, reguar pliers, clamps, knives, and a potato before GIVINGE UP! This is the most poorly designed light I have ever seen in a kitchen appliance and I will never again buy a Whirlpool microwave.
