When I looked in the mirror, I never once said, "I love the fat, I accept the fat." Instead, I loved the person UNDER the fat. The fat wasn't me. The real me was the person trapped inside there. Because I loved that person, me, I did what I had to do to free myself. I didn't change my body because I hated myself, I changed my body because I loved myself.

I think taking her advice and staying away from the scale will help a lot. I used to weigh myself everyday and even though I looked better and my clothes fit better my scale was not telling me positive things, I was gaining weight!!! I decided after watching her video to stop weighing myself.

Also, be aware of portion control. I actually have started cooking some of my own creations but, I am always tempted to eat fast food. It is hard, but you can do it!!!

I'm young. I'm going into highschool this year, but I've been feeling excruciatingly insecure all summer. All of my friends are losing middle school baby weight, getting racks, and just looking amazing, and it's just normal to them. I've been obese all my life, and now I wanna change that. I've started dieting, but apart of me is still just begging and hoping that I'll just wake up skinny, but I know that's now how it works. I've started doing simple easy workouts that I can handle, watching what I eat, making healthier decisions, and, a month later I've lost about fifteen pounds and I can definitely see a difference. My hard work is definitely showing, and I'm feeling much more confident. I'm ready for highschool and I'm ready to continue becoming healthier.

Many people have unrealistic expectations about weight loss. They look the before and after pics of people and only see that between the two there was x years but they still expect to just one day wake up skinny. It doesn't work like that. Some days you will feel like shit and want to eat cake all day, other days you feel lean and thin, some days you are heavier and some days you are lighter. Weight loss is not a linear progress, that's why it takes sometimes years. And the hardest part I think is getting used to your new self. That you can move faster sleep better, be happier, wear smaller clothes, change your perception about yourself

I can relate to this video so much! I’m currently in the process of still reaching my physical goals. November 2017, I was the heaviest I have ever been. I was so insecure about my body, and hid behind coats and clothing. I was stuck in a vicious cycle, of hating my body and working out because I hated it. And this never gave me any kind of results. I would get discouraged and end up eating my feelings. But the moment I accepted my body the way it was, just like you had mentioned, my relationship with my body and the gym completely turned around. This summer I’ve made the biggest progress that I have in years. I’m down 20 lbs and am putting on lean muscle!! I’m mentally and physically in such a better place, and I can not wait to see where my fitness journey takes me! Thanks for sharing your story, because it’s so comforting to know we are not alone!

When I was 12, I was obese at 185 pounds. I got sick, and couldn't eat. I soon started starving myself, and I had lost 40 pounds. I was very unhappy, and I still felt huge even though I was a few pounds overweight. I eventually gained back most of the weight. I'm 16 now, and I weigh 171 pounds. I've lost 5 pounds within two days by working out, and eating healthy, which isn't much, but it makes me happy to know I can do this. Videos like these motivate me to not starve myself, and to lose weight in a healthy matter. So, I'd like to thank you for that, and I wish you the best.

I started this summer with 185 pounds of weight, due to a growth spurt and then me cleaning up my diet, I am down to 169. My goal is 150 by Christmas. So you are not alone! Also, look up pictures of what 5 pounds of fat looks like, it's a huge difference.

    • @ilikepizza2020
      @ilikepizza2020 6 років тому +5

Geezee Gamez congrats on the weight loss. I'm down to 167 now, but I'm struggling with restricting again. I've been trying to eat 1,000-1,200 calories and I use my elliptical for at least 40 mins a few times a week. However, I feel extremely hungry and I binge at least one to two times a week. It does help with the cravings, but it's an awful cycle. My goal is to be down to 120. Anyways, good luck with your weight loss.

Same here! My goal is 120 by summer, but my partway goal is 150 by Christmas. I use a HIIT training so I only exercise about 15 minutes daily, and I do 100 jumping jacks right before going to bed. Those are just some ideas. I do still eat some junk food, just maybe only one cookie instead of three or 3 chips instead of a whole bowl full. If I order a drink at a coffee shop, I order a small and get half sweet or something like that. No cold turkey. Also, if you go from cold turkey to some fat in your diet (fat is still needed in your diet to be healthy) you will feel sick. So that is my advice, and good luck to you too!

im 13 and i started at 164 pounds. i recently realized how big i had gotten. after my family had opened a restaurant over the summer, i thought it was all fun and games to eat whatever i wanted and to eat 4,000 calories a day. when the school year started and i looked in the mirror, i finally realized that the “other girls” were 50 pounds less than me... i had gained 30 pounds in just one summer. i had no clue why i wasnt losing weight the first month because i was eating what i thought was ‘healthy’. i watched videos and videos every night about weight loss stories and said why cant that be me, just like you mentioned in this video. my main motivation was to be able to look good and fit in my clothes. but now as ive been working for three weeks and my jeans feel bigger by the week, i work for my health and my mental state. i have become more happy with my body, though i have to be honest. i still look in the mirror and know im fat. 156 pounds and 13.. only 5”4. im overweight by 20 pounds. it doesnt seem like a lot. but to me all i see is extra fat that my friends dont have. so i want to be able to make it to 135 pounds and maintain that weight for when i start high school next year. i started excersizing 4-5 times a week. i only burn 100-200 calories in a workout, but it still makes me feel good. i eat 1200 calories and usually less in a day. DISCLAIMER i do NOT starve myself. on mondays i do fasting and i eat healthy fruits and vegetables as snacks. during the week i eat a wheat bread sandwich and fruits at lunch. i eat my moms healthy dinners. i cut out all soda. i occasionally have 40 calorie fudge pops or a scoop of ice cream that i prepaid for at school as my weekly treat. anyway, i watched this video and im happy to see myself getting better. thank you for all you do to inspire so many people. especially when girls think their fat.. yet i was at my heaviest at 164 at only 13 years old.

good job, you did that! i know how it feels to always compare yourself to your skinny friends, but look at it this way: you discovered a part of you that was strong enough and driven enough to transform yourself. it's definitely easier to see weight gain when you're shorter so ify, i'm 5'2 so if i gain even just five pounds I and everyone that i'm close to can see it clearly in my face, my stomach etc :( but you're doing really good, don't forget to nourish yourself and go easy, good job!

in february 2022 I saw a picture of me standing and that's when I knew I had to do something about my body. I am 5'2 and I weighed 126 lbs. I ate junk food every day and binged so much after getting home from school. After 4 months of working out and changing my lifestyle choices, I now weigh 118 in june 2022. It may not seem like a huge difference, but I feel so much better and am already starting to love my body even more.

I am a dietitian and I appreciate what you are sharing. Speaking about myself, I have a toddler so an hour's workout is not really happening for me like it used to. So I introduced 15-20min workouts to my daily schedule, my husband was laughing at the duration, tonight he said I really am fitter. It's the consistency you are explaining at 13:15. Small changes happening daily can make a big difference.

Totally agree. Consistency matters, even if it's just 15-20 minutes. I usually work out for at least an hour. But today it was only 25 min and I'm good with that!!!

Ever since I wrote the above comment, I started joining 5k runs and group hikes more or less every weekend, while my little one is with daddy. Last time I had done a 5k was before pregnancy, that is 4+ years ago, but it turns out I am now in a better physical condition due to consistency: Every single day I have been keeping up with the baby / now running after the toddler, every single day I have been doing little workouts. 5k took me 35min.

I've barely restarted my weight loss journey after failing many times about two months ago and am already down 7 pounds!! Haven't lost that much in a long time but I still have family making comments about my weight, telling me I should stop eating that, and take this pill, and drink this tea, so I can look nice, and I HATE that because I finally, after ten years have actually accepted who I am. I truly believe that's the only reason why I've lost those seven pounds. And it's not about accepting that I'm "fat" and giving up. It's about realizing that I am a person not my weight, that this is my body, the only body I have, and that I don't hate it. I just want to change it to make myself feel 100%

GREAT video! You're lucky that you discovered this right after University, and young. I'll be 52 next month, and I'm still trying to figure it out, after about four decades of binging, then crazily dieting (including Jenny Craig, and being a Jenny Craig consultant for those two years!), then overeating processed crap, and thinking I'd be caught in the spiral forever. I, too, topped out at 168 at University. During my twenties and thirties, I levelled out at 140. In my forties, 140 became 150. Now, I'm postmenopausal, and started seeing a dietitian just over a month ago, starting at about 153. It's super-slow progress (I sit now at about 147), but there IS a win, aside from the weight loss: For the first time in my life, I now feel I can have a "cheat meal", and get right back on the horse with the next meal! I had lived my black-and-white, restrictive thinking for years.I feel that there's light at the end of the tunnel now, and that I'm making sustainable, good-health decisions, daily, just like you are. Good for you, girl!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! Please make a video on the inner work you talked about. I have no idea where to start, but I know I need to start somewhere and I know enough to know that if I don't work on my inner self the change won't happen, because the physical pain I'm feeling has not been enough to stop me from eating unhealthy. Hi Katie! I am in my senior year at high school and since the last year, I have consistently moved on to a healthier lifestyle. I have Polycystic Ovarian Disease (which is, irregular periods that causes pregnancy problems in the future) because of my excessive weight. I weighed 75 kgs at my heaviest. And when I was told by my doctor that my only medicine was losing weight. So at that moment, it seemed like an impossible thing to do because I'm like attracted to anything sugary. I love eating sweets and chocolates and all kinds of desserts and still do. I used to binge eat a lot, putting unhealthy stuff in my body, and then feeling guilty and crappy. I always used the excuse of having too much pressure of studies to take time out of my routine to work out. But then I took some time to realise that unless I'm healthy, there's no point in working so hard for the grades to go up because I won't be happy. I took some time to love my body, to realise that I am beautiful and sexy with an awesome personality, and that's what mattered the most. This was when I started to work out, jumping rope initially, starting with 500 jumps, then started doing target exercises. I remember, I was searching through youtube for how to lose back fat when I came across your channel and that's how I was introduced to LSF and this wonderful community. You played a big part in my transformation towards a healthy form of myself. And after a month or so, I started to feel good after every workout, concentrate better on my studies, my grades went up. After 8 months, here I am, at 63 kgs and feel amazing about my body. I hope to lose about 4 kgs more to get to a healthy weight, and my Polycystic Ovarian Disease has been going away slowly, as now I have regular periods. So, all I want to say is, Thank you Katie. You played a major inspiration for me to feel better about myself, to love myself. And I owe so much to you.

I'm in high school and I've always been super active but still on the heavier side, strangling with extra weight that my friends didn't have. Every year I tried to lose it before summer because all my friends loved to take bikini pictures to post of social media when we we went to the beach. I was always a semi healthy eater but I struggled a lot with overeating and not knowing when to stop. Although I still struggle with this now I have recently been trying to look at my habitats day to day and make some changes. Of all the many weight loss journey videos and health videos that I've watched this has probably been the most realistic and relatable ones that I've come across. I been having a lot of self hate lately that probably effects others around me, so I started trying to change habits without knowing what I was doing. I'm still only a little over a week in and clueless but I'm going to try and keep it up this time :) Your story was very inspiring!

Thank You for your story. March I finally started Plant Based and cut sugar...I lost 26 lbs so far in 6 months. I weighed 205 at my heaviest. I got cancer and 4 other illnesses, after 5 operations I started thinking I needed to learn more about healthy eating. I didn’t focus for 20 yrs and get serious. It’s hard but I had a light come on with two dreams about people eating dead animals...then I started using UA-cam to investigate eating healthy. I weighed 195 in March, ow at 168.

Health starts always with eating right (meaning plant base vegan, no processed oil and sugar).
Also important not to poison ones body with vaccines, radiation, ultrasound, non-organic food and drugs of any sort.
But doctors are not yet there nowadays regarding this knowledge and wisdom, so they won't be able to help their patients to get rid of so many diseases (including cancer).

I lost 11 pounds so far in 2 months time, i know it's not a lot but this is a sustainable rate for me. I am doing regular workouts, eating homemade food, taking care of my portions and including yoghurt in every meal. Literally that has been life changing. Yoghurt after a meal really helps to fill you up and you don't have any cravings. I've also begun eating plant protein powder after my workouts to increase my protein intake (You can only eat so many eggs in a day). I encourage everyone to try this, don't do anything that you won't be able to continue doing in the next month and the next and so on. Cause doing cardio every day for a month might be very rewarding but if you can't sustain that throughout your journey, you won't be able to stay consistent. Aim for the long term

Of all the "story time" videos I've listened to and watched on YT this is by far my favorite. Thank you for your honesty- I related to different points. I dont have a habit of stepping on the scale, but when I want to "get fit" i do and like you said - I fail, because my why isn't strong enough. I just picked up journaling again, how I'm feeling what im going through to see patterns and how it makes me feel. Again, thank you. New sub!

What you said about accepting your self struck a chord and made me cry a little. Since I was a kid I have always hated how I look, from skin to body size although people would compliment me as "fit," I never saw it the same way, thinking skinnier is always the goal. And now that I'm a mother who have gone through extreme body changes, all the pain and embarrassment just got worse. I feel so depressed esp. over the past year after having gained weight during the lockdown. I've been trying to lose weight but the slow progress is just disheartening. But now, with everything you just said -- taking things one step at a time, discarding out of your lifestyle eating habits you know are not healthy for you, feeling good inside and out -- just gave me renewed hopes in my self-love/self-acceptance journey. Thank you

My biggest struggle is finding a balance with food and exercise, been fighting my eating disorder for 10 years now and it feels like this will affect me for the rest of my life.
I want to be a runner. Just being able to go for a run because it feels good, not because I burn calories. I want to be able to eat things I love in reasonable portions without ending up overeating and purging, and without feeling bad and hate myself. Thank you for focusing on your well being and not just calorie/weightloss.

I started by loving myself too! It wasn’t easy looking in the mirror and rejecting the story of my body that I told for years (butt, hips, tummy etc). But, I looked myself directly in my eyes every morning before brushing my teeth saying “I support you, I love you and I know that you love me too” as well as listening to a “I AM” UA-cam meditation on repeat while I was at work. It really retrained my subconscious to BELIEVE I am beautiful, worthy, whole and complete right NOW and it took consistently doing this for a couple of months. When you learn to really love who is staring back at you it’s a liberating feeling of meeting yourself where you are and not resisting it. At that point, every salad or gym session you have you can say “It only gets better from here” keep with it ladies!

I love how you talk about the body, the fact it needs to be "loved and cherished" and that it is the "most amazing piece of equipment we could ever own". In Islam, our bodies are an "amana" (trust) from Allah (God) and it is part of our faith to treat it with care and love.
I think once we understand this and look at our bodies as gifts from God, then our mindset and willpower change. Much love to all the people on their weight loss journey - may we all stay healthy ❤️

Oh my god!! We have the exact same story. Same height, same depression, same binge eating style and same ups and downs. I also have hypothyroidism. I am currently one year after I first got that I had to make a change bc of my future and have lost about 27lb. It was a really slow road and I have about 30
More to go but that’s ok. I was starting to get in my head again and weighted myself and it made me paranoid as before when I was yo-yo dieting. I am slowly feeling changes in my body and your video has inspired me again to stop that path and go back to the pseudo numberless one, where what counts is the effort and not the exact numbers.
Thank you!! I honestly cannot believe how similar our stories are..! Although I have still a long way to go :)
