I flew Premium Economy in 2015 when I checked off my last bucket list item, to visit my ancestors' graves in Christchurch. ANZ cabin crew were so wonderful and kind, and as a disabled traveller my experience was beyond my expectations. Kia Ora to everyone who works for the airline, in the air and on the ground. You guys ROCK!
Thanks Josh, travelling from the UK tomorrow with Air New Zealand in premium economy seat 27A outbound and 26A on the return. Best ANZ PE review, so really looking forward to it now! 😀✈
I just love Air New Zealand, which I flew on numerous occasions (all classes). Crossed the dateline several times on their flights, which was good for “traveling-to-the-past” and “skip-a-day-off-your-life” experiences! The crew are perhaps the friendliest in the industry, and the safety videos they produce are the most innovative and entertaining!
Always nice to see another traveler who appreciates AirNZ's Premium Economy! My only experience with Premium Economy was my trip to New Zealand in 2005, and the overall experience blew my mind! Every step of the way my experience was outstanding, from the equipment to the in-flight service to the cabin crew - all outshone my expectations.
Try the long haul flight, the movie options are a lot and they even provide quite up to date movies...did you notice the seat chat and order snacks feature? That's just another level of Air New Zealand...💕 #airnz
The thing that differentiates Singapore is the “ Book the cook “ feature which allows you to choose from a selection of meals prior to boarding. I’ve personally haven’t flown PE on Singapore Air , but I’ve known someone who has & they had no complaints.
I commute between NZ and the UK every 6 months for work and have found the air NZ premium economy to be amazing, I always manage a good nights sleep in the seats. Their business class still has a long way to go compared to Singapore Airlines though mainly because of the seat layout
Yes it’s an excellent way to fly. We flew Air New Zealand Premium Economy Perth to Auckland return and it was simply the best. Certainly a top notch airline and a great way to fly. Hope you enjoy NZ, my birthplace, it’s a fantastic country to explore.
They had the best Economy Class period. Hot towel service, comfy seats along with blankets pillows. Two hot meals, breakfast mimosas. Free beer/wine and inflight entertainment. Footrest. This year's ago but such a good experience. Reminded me of my annual trips on Pan Am 747 Clippers between Pago Pago American Samoa, and, San Diego California. I rode every one of them.
I flew Air New Zealand back in 2019 (HOU-AKL-DUD) and was able to fly the return leg (AKL-HOU) in Premium Economy. I had bid for an upgrade as well. I didn't get it outbound, but I luckily got it on the return flight. I was happy with their Premium Economy product. I had no complaints.
Yay been waiting this for a long time! Flew their PE Auckland to Hong Kong and it was incredible, really exceeded my expectations. For daytime flights I wouldn't bother with business when there's a premium economy this good.
Hey Josh, Thanks for sharing your experience with Air Nz. I am glad to hear that you like the services. I live in NZ and welcome to NZ i hope you got a chance to explore wonderful mesmerising attractions of Aotearoa...🙂
Hey Josh, another great review! I recently flew Air New Zealand in premium economy class one way and was upgraded on the return flight by bidding on the ANZ website. We upgraded to business class for less than $300 USD. Business class on ANZ is amazing so you should definitely give it a try if possible. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the review! I absolutely swear by their premium economy and in my opinion, definitely better than SQ's. Flew on their 787-9 several times from SIN-AKL-SIN. Love their food and service always! Safe travels!
'Yes'our coutries national carrier has done us proud. So glad you enjoyed your introduction into Kiwi hospitality. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay in New Zealand and I hope you get to visit Rotorua the centre of Maori culture and beyond. Kia kaha which means in maori "stay safe" Fantastic review Josh. Note:this is a review on Air New Zealand not Indian airlines so lay off on other airlines its not warrented.
Hi Josh, I’m a kiwi living in Japan. I flew home for a holiday nearly two years ago. Flew ANZ, Tokyo/AKL return. I can’t sleep while in or on a moving vehicle so I would go and visit the crew for a chat as I walk around for exercise. Good flight both ways. BTW, I always buy snacks for the hard working crews. Better service. I have experience with dealing with people in my past so I feel for the crews.
We flew premium economy London to Los Angeles. Absolutely brilliant... paid a bit more for extra legroom, well worth it. Impressive service from the crew, excellent cuisine & comfort.... definitely my first choice when flying long haul trips!
Josh, I think ANZ and Qantas have the best PE cabins and service overall. I've flown on both: LAX and AKL, roundtrip, and LAX and MEL, roundtrip. However, I will give a slight edge to Qantas as they have a better seat, in my opinion, but their meal/beverage service is on par with each other. Finally, I think ANZ cabin staff are slightly a cut above Qantas' which makes the difference when deciding the better product.
I’ve flown 3 long haul premium economy flights this year, Air New Zealand, EVA Airlines and WestJet. They were all excellent. Strangely, my favorite was WestJet on an old 767. The service and food were amazing and the seat recline was the most generous. I believe they’re phasing our the 767s so I’ll have to try the 787 version. Air New Zealand’s WiFi really stood out.
It would be great if you could make a video of the menus too (just briefly, we can pause), it sometimes makes a difference whether I would upgrade and also sometimes I'm just curious about the local cuisine if it's somewhere new to me. :) Thanks again for a great channel!
Glad you liked the National Airline, Josh. A320s decked out in black upholstery, 162 seats international, 168 seats domestic. Try finding nicer A320 types than these! Cathay Pacific are the only airline I've flown that is as good.
6:31 I believe that SQ does not have dedicated toilets for PE, whereas Air NZ does (or shared with J class). That's one of the reasons I prefer Air NZ's product. All my experiences of Air NZ's PE have been more that good. On one flight, all passengers were addressed by name throughout the flight (between Australia and NZ) . 12:01 I always understood that it's the same food as served in J, but with a reduced choice of dishes and everything is served together on the tray, rather than course by course. .
Lucky you came for a visit when you did, only returning kiwis can get into NZ since May 2020. So missing being able to travel in these strange times that lm watching all the travel vlogs. Great channel mate.
I'm 41. Rarely strayed from USA. I guess I went to Mexico as a toddler. Been to Canada for a day 20 years ago. Granted I've traveled US extensively camping and fishing. But watching these videos makes me yearn for more. I wish I wasn't so scared.
Having flown all over Europe and Asia, Air NZ is my favourite airline. They have a great product, and the crew are awesome. I like that NZ has an attitude of friendly respect without being sterile. Other carriers may offer a better product but their crew tend to either be too careless or too cold.
I'm not surprised re Air New Zealand, it's been my favourite for a long time. I would agree with those who say their Premium Economy, the food, yes! Air New Zealand has some very interesting new services coming up in 2024. You'll be able to buy a four-hour slot in a sleep pod, in, get this, economy class. New, slimmer, ergonomic seats coming as well, which will in turn allow for larger entertainment screens in the back of all the seats. More legroom, it's really impressive engineering. They've listened to customers, and have taken on-board various recommendations they have made. In my view, innovation, and a continual striving for excellence has always been a hallmark of the Air New Zealand experience. They've always had good, friendly, service orientated cabin crew. And the food, it's one of the top reasons I've chosen the Airline for my travels, you were right Josh, they don't skimp on quality to save a buck! I haven't experienced the Fiji trip with them yet, thanks to your VLOG, and opinion, I might just have to give it a go!
I was booked on a sale fare for Scoot booked around 4 months in advance between Perth and Manila. Got sent an email for bid to upgrade. Did the same thing, selected the absolute minimum at $175, the upgrade was really only for the Per to Sin portion as the aircraft was the 787. My minimum bid was accepted and the cabin 8/21. Flight was partial red eye so got a good rest, meal and wifi included. Checked the full fare prior to departure online and the airline wanted $950.
The food is the same as Business Premier. Out of Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Air NZ, Air NZ has the best overall Premium Economy product, follow closely by Qantas and in distance last, Singapore Airlines especially their Premium Economy of their A350's
I flew Air New Zealand Premium Economy from AKL-LAX-LHR route about five years ago, it's the best Premium Economy that I've flown on. The flight from AKL - LAX was with a NZ Crew and the flight from LAX - LHR was a British Crew, both sets of crews were amazing. The only let down of this flight is that you have to disembark at LAX and go around the system and clear U.S immigration and then get back on the flight, this was a real pain.
Use the towel for your face if you want to. That's ridiculous! You're traveling. Nothing nicer than a nice warm towel when you've been traveling all day. People are crazy.
I am not surprised Air New Zealand is so good. They have been consistently good for a very long time, and now in 2022, I believe they would be as good or even better as a few years ago. I flew them in regular economy from Auckland to Vancouver many years ago, and even then their service was excellent.
I recently did premium on QF2 from London - Sydney. I have to say it is the first time I have tried it on Qantas and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of personalised service offered on the flight. There were no hot towels handed out, no big deal though as im not usually a big fan of those anyway, however what I do find odd is that Qantas still dont have Wifi on their international flights. I think they are falling way behind in this regard, especially since they are meant to be a premium carrier. Have you reviewed the Qantas premium product? I would be interested to get your take on it.
Nicholas Mackenzie-Rowe I agree and I'm sure their business class is lovely. However the regular herringbone configuration seems very awkward to me. Facing in towards the person across and unable to look out the window? If I'm going to shell out big bucks for business class that could be a potential deal breaker, if there was a comparable airline on the same route,
Personal preference. Sure the seat design has been eclipsed but it is still very comfortable, I think. The soft product is where they really shine - crew, service and food/bev. Other airlines may have more 'bling'...gold taps in bathroom, sepia toned imagery etc. Keep yr eyes open for their relaunched J product. Under developnent and not far away from the grand reveal.
alan m I’m from NZ and I agree. Air NZ business class SEATS are rubbish compared to other airline products. But with that said, the service and food is absolutely quality.
Hi Josh! Premium Economy on Air NZ is the best! Service and crew experience also the best and I have flown many airlines. Definitely better than Singapore Airlines. Great coverage! Well done!!
Once again, loved the Lav review........You have the best content and reviews on the web, keep up the good work. Also glad you have sorted the audio issues out. :-)
Welcome to my home Josh. Glad you enjoyed PE. Surprised itvwas yr first trip to NZ.Come back and roadtest the new NZ J class which is being developed in their Hangar 22 facility (where they developed the Skynest bunk bed in econimy concept). Can't wait to see what they unveil. Its a shame they hung on too long to the now outdated Virgin Atlantic herringbone design. Think they had some sort of licencing agt with Virgin tying them. Did you enjoy our summer weather? Zero rain for almost two months.
Very nice review again! I’m not sure you’re correct about the GE-90. The new 777X will actually use a lower-thrust engine than the 777-300ER because it is much more aerodynamically clean, thus requiring less thrust. Mit freundlichen Grüßen!
Looked amazing!! How did you get your access to take all these flights, and be able to review them? You have to be my favorite Airline vlogger! That accent and eyes don’t hurt!!
Welcome to New Zealand, have a great time! The Boeing triple 7 is the best and top airliner in all of New Zealand. I been on multiple of them and yes I'm a New Zealander. Nau mai ki Aotearoa, he wa pai! (Try and translate that in Google Translate in Maori)
I really like that New Zealanders conserve the Maori culture. Unlike USA and Australia. Where the native population has been reduced to pathetic levels!
i live in canada quebec and was going to NZ in march 2020 but SADLY because of Corona we couldn't go and it was just safer anyway ): so sad it was such a unique experience!
Dear Josh, I would like to tell you one suggestion for you. your describe in every class in the flight is perfect. Also, show us all the category of class seats too. It will be great for all who watched these videos. All the best, stay safe in Bali.
This looked very close to the business class offering of some airlines. The only thing it lacked was being able to recline the seat into a bed, and for a 3-hour flight that would be unnecessary. I'd say it was a great deal!
Josh, if you loved Air New Zealand Premium Economy you simply must go back to review also Business Premier and the Economy Skycouch! By the way: did you see the newly announced SkyNest concept?? Air New Zealand is the best!!
Please do a review of Philippine Airlines' Manila-Auckland/Auckland-Manila Economy class! Its the next flight I'm planning on taking and that would be very helpful.
Ive never clicked so fast on this anticipated review after seeing you post a pic of the loo on Instagram!! Stunning absolutely from the warm welcome you recieved on boarding right through to the meal service and beyond. The seat intro vid is a fantastic initiative. Its the little touches that make it over all a special experience and for the price. Congratulations Air New Zealand, other carriers can learn alot from you guys. Thanks for the heads up on Cheesecake in Fiji👍.
Josh I love your video's but a word of advice. You need to devote MORE time to the food ! This is what most people want to see. The pioneer of this type of UA-cam channel was another German named "Homer" (anyone know what happened to Homer?) Homer was probably the originator of this type of content and he always focused on the food and drink offerings and was famous for his "trademarked" turning of the dinner plate so the viewer could get a good look at the food. Again does anyone know what happened to Homer? I really enjoyed his videos.
Have used Air NZ for LHR to AKL via LAX on at least 10 trips to NZ, last time in 2019. Only ever travelled economy before, sadly now that we can afford Premium Economy Air NZ no longer operate into LHR so we'd have to use one of their code shares via LAX or SFO, United or Virgin, would prefer Virgin. LAX can be a bit of a nightmare with only about 2.5 to 3 hours connection and if changing airlines you have to go landside and then check in an clear security making it a bit of a rush. SFO is a more relaxed airport and the connection with Air NZ is about 5 hours so not so rushed. As we couldn't get the preferred seat assignments on Virgin or United for our next trip we've booked Premium Economy with Singapore AL.
Fabulous review. Glad to see you spent quality time in the bathroom. Question -- is there a seat belt to strap yourself on the toilet? Keep up the good work. Looking forward to a dedicated review on bathrooms. Maybe you could call it "Flying toilets" or "Washrooms in the Sky".
Have flow with ANZ to Lax,SFO,Figi ,Akl and Lhr on Premium Economy fantastic, but unfortunately are stopping flying from UK in October 2020 a real shame.

When was there every premium economy on domestic flights
I'm so glad you reviewed Air New Zealand. Proud New Zealander watching this loved it
You really are everywhere
Yep , we have given up on their business class ,smelling other peoples stinky feet got to us over many trips so premium economy is great .😊
Thanks Josh, travelling from the UK tomorrow with Air New Zealand in premium economy seat 27A outbound and 26A on the return. Best ANZ PE review, so really looking forward to it now! 😀✈

Living in Australia, my favourite way to get to the US is with Air NZ because Auckland Airport is wonderful, the airline is wonderful even in economy!
Being a New Zealander myself it's always great to hear good comments about our airline. I hope you enjoyed your stay in our lovely country :)
Love this product flew from Adelaide-Auckland-Vancouver and return. The crew were as attentive even when PE was full. The food was awesome.

I had to rewind and make sure.
haha
as far as reviews go its pretty to the point :P
Thanks !
Josh, I've just realised that the thumbnail has the AUSTRALIAN flag instead of the New Zealand flag. The cardinal sin...
Good some one saw that!
Already noticed that before I watched this, I’m Kiwi, bro
Must have changed it because it's not now. But yes a big sin!
yeah, he changed that.. I don’t get how he could have messed that up.
That's why we Kiwis wanted to change ours..
Try the long haul flight, the movie options are a lot and they even provide quite up to date movies...did you notice the seat chat and order snacks feature? That's just another level of Air New Zealand...💕 #airnz
Hey Josh as a Filipino living in New Zealand I am happy to see that you enjoyed your Premium Economy Experience with Air New Zealand!
The thing that differentiates Singapore is the “ Book the cook “ feature which allows you to choose from a selection of meals prior to boarding. I’ve personally haven’t flown PE on Singapore Air , but I’ve known someone who has & they had no complaints.
So proud of my airline.. And I’m glad you enjoyed every second.. Proud Air New Zealander here

The premium economy looks great but I wouldn’t fly them in business class.
Nice vid 👍🏻
Of course you would fly them in business class. Don't make such a silly statement.
Nicholas Mackenzie-Rowe their business class is garbage what justifies paying $2000-4000 extra?
Nicholas Mackenzie-Rowe I agree and I'm sure their business class is lovely.

Air NZ and Qantas are recognised by most as having the best PE offering in the world.
Can agree Flown AirNZ many times in Premium much better than economy
I find all of air nz products to be pretty good especially their premium economy product especially on long haul sectors
Looks a very roomy, comfortable seat. Food looked yummy. The only time we booked Premium Economy we were upgraded to Business. Yet to try it.

Welcome to NZ Josh.Hope you enjoy it.Thanks for the great review.🙂
Welcome to NZ
The review I’ve been waiting for
Ty for this review
SCAMTRAXX lolol I love it.
Lol @Scamtrax! It took me a few moments to realise who you were referring to!
Would love to come to NZ one day! Amazing place
Yay finally reviewing my favourite airline! Air nz is one of the best in the world hands down!
Thanks for a great video, Josh! Have fun in NZ!
Definitely will try Premium Economy on Air New Zealand!
Economy on air New Zealand, on a 747-400 in 1995, from Los Angeles to Auckland, still the best and longest flight I've ever taken.
This has confirmed me to travel air New Zealand premium economy in June from Sydney instead of Qantas
LOL ScamTrax - you're not wrong!
I really enjoyed his videos.
that was some good legroom and a nice screen
Welcome to my hometown Auckland. Hope you enjoy your time here.
“Scamtraxx” LOL 😂😂😂 love it you are the best! Cheers 🥂
Nice video
It's funny that you keep holding the mic haha
Fabulous review. Glad to see you spent quality time in the bathroom. Question -- is there a seat belt to strap yourself on the toilet? Keep up the good work. Looking forward to a dedicated review on bathrooms. Maybe you could call it "Flying toilets" or "Washrooms in the Sky".
Great review! Thank you for sharing this with us! All the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
Have flow with ANZ to Lax,SFO,Figi ,Akl and Lhr on Premium Economy fantastic, but unfortunately are stopping flying from UK in October 2020 a real shame.
Josh how was the recline on your seat compared to other seats on that plane? Have read its not as good in the rear seat
Agree re. ANZ Premium Economy. The best. For me an honorary mention goes to Cathay Pacific.
Yesss was waiting for this awesome review Josh!
Given how high the taxes are ex Fiji I think that’s an awesome deal! Pleased you enjoyed Air NZ Josh
The customary turbulence didn't come though while you were eating josh😂😂😂
Hey Josh! I love your videos! Next time you're in Canada or North America, could you do a review of Westjet?
Flair, the Budget airline,is awesome!!!! i flew with them a few times across canada, and they really looked after the passengers every time.
