Last month, I visited the LAX Air Traffic Control Tower. After some amazing plane spotting from the tower, I flew with Air New Zealand All Blacks on their B777-300/ER from Los Angeles to London. Air NZ have been proudly serving this route for 40 years but will be discontinuing their London service in October, citing that it cannot compete effectively. This flight is currently the longest one stop flight in the world, originating in Auckland, New Zealand and travelling to London via LA.
During my flight, I checked out the Air New Zealand current Business Class product including the seat, food and beverages, amenity kits and the bedding. I also checked out the Air New Zealand Skycouch product in Economy, which is a first in the airline industry. The 3 seats can be converted into a flatbed, for yourself or to share with children. The UK based Air NZ crew were very friendly and took pleasure in showing me their finest food and beverages onboard. I even made some friends on the flight, due to the outward herringbone seating in Business Class.
After landing, I was allowed in the cockpit to have a quick briefing from the captain. We flew for 9 hours and 40 minutes from LA to London.
This trip and vlog were made in February. I strongly advise against all non-essential travel for the time being.

I hope this upbeat video can serve as good memory for all the Air NZ UK based cabin crew I’ve met onboard. Unfortunately, they’ve been the casualties of COVID-19 as the airline have just closed their base. 😢
Sam Chui 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sam Chui I hope good airlines like this can survive these dark times
Sam Chui thats ok i love it
Thanks for reviewing Air NZ :), surprisingly we (air nz) haven’t been hit too hard but the Current COVID-19 situation

Air New Zealand’s flight attendants are really so friendly. They’re equally friendly to the economy passengers as they are to first class. The food is also amazing. Definitely one of my favourite airlines.
Yes!! I've noticed this also. I always tell people that flying in Economy with ANZ feels as good as First Class in many other airlines...
Maksudnya Apa Ya Ini??
Great plane also, the businnes class looks very comfortable 😎👍
Kimberly Uys Your family name caught my attention. My family name is Huys, yes with an "H", we have Dutch/Belgian ancestors.
I. M indian but i like new Zealand, always realy.
And that is why AIR NZ has been voted no. 1 airline in the world many times in recent years. Proud of my little country 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
I’m from New Zealand as well. KIA ORA🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
Always proud🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿

The crew seems super friendly and nice. Just like New Zealanders usually.
The interior of the plane is stylish. The food looks great, the service is 1.st class.
It makes me feel like travelling with them to New Zealand and enjoy a 24 hours in the plane.
I've traveled quite a few airlines over the years and Air New Zealand still stands as my favourite.
Nice, clean aircraft, great service, very efficient and really nice food. Can't beat them.
The secret for excellent service: wear a Sam Chui disguise!
I do have to say Air New Zealands service is pretty great, I must say. And you can just go up and talk to the crew
Not really, that’s typical if you’re in business class.
Not a bad idea
@@mattzxo Can vouch normal customers get the same great service. Not just Sam being onboard
No just bring a camera lmao
I'm am a New Zealander and a HUGE fan of aircraft and airliners. (Particularly Air New Zealand). Thank you so much for doing this!
u should collect model planes in the air new zealand livery
I’m from Palmerston North and I actually collect the air New Zealand plane models, u can get it on the Air New Zealand website.

Your country's leadership is the first thing you should feel proud of. The woman is awesome.
Sadly we in America dont have leadership.
Lol yea that's what's wrong with the country.
Trump is quite comfortable in the bubble he lives in. Seems like his followers are afflicted with the same problem.
I am from CZE & NEW ZELAND xdd
@Liam um . . . your joking right? Democrats are literally about the safety and protection of our people, while maintaining the freedom of the people. By no offense, the Republicans are about money and bringing Christianity as a justification of the impediment of rights to minorities, the LGBTQ community, and immigrants.
The accent of this flight attendant is so amazing....seeing again for him:)!!
Amazing trip! Love that black plane!
Air New Zealand have a base at LHR especially for this flight. Good to hear some British accents and the cracking Northern Ireland one off the chap closing the door! I hope they will be okay with the closure of the route and the downturn in aviation.
For me it actually wasn't good to hear the British accents. I would've much rather prefered to hear kiwi crew. But I am bias since I'm kiwi myself lol
Not any more, this flight was scheduled to end today, regardless of the coronavirus outbreak, Air NZ are not carrying on with this service.
On British airways yes 100% but not for Air New Zealand
Wingin’ It! Paul yeah
Jake Young I actually agree and I’m from England ! When flying you should get a full package including flight crew from the airlines country
Air New Zealand is rated the worlds safest airline,I love it especially since I live in new Zealand,The safety videos are absolutely amazing! The flight attendants and staff are so friendly and even let kids hand out lollies to everyone!!! I love it so much!!!
Sam, I love how kind and appreciative you are to everyone! Fantastic video. I've flown Air New Zealand about 8 times, and I learned new things from watching this! Namely - how that frickin' Sky Couch actually works ;)
Sam I loved this video. Air New Zealand is by far my favourite airline. Being born in NZ myself, I’m always proud of our airline.
I have been to LAX so many times, I have flown to 21 countries. USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Israel, Germany, UK, Hungary, Slovakia, Norway, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, France, Iceland, New Zealand, and Austria. All those trips started at LAX. That airport is connected to me. The first plane I ever flew was an ELAL Israel airlines, on a 777-200ER when I was 4 weeks old. It’s true. The only 747s I flew were and British airways and I got to sit in the cockpit. I’ve sat in the cockpit of so many planes you can’t even imagine. I really like your channel and I love airplanes with all my heart thanks for making this video about LAX! 😀 I flew the BA jumbo from Cape town, South Africa to London, Heathrow! 🛫✈️🛬
how can people dislike this channel, its the best!!
That flight attendant is so beautiful and too friendly as well ♥️♥️
WOW, love the interior. The food looks delicious 😋, and the cabin crew are dressed smart, and very professional. Highly impressed with Air New Zealand.
Next time, you should fly to New Zealand! (Auckland International). When the border re-opens.
Yea it's a really nice airport
Correction: fly to New Zealand full stop. :)
Definitely and to Hawke’s bay to have some delicious wine and a bit of a holiday
@@DailyDoseofAviation - You have to be kidding, The so call 'upgrading' of Auckland Airport is New Zealand's long ongoing construction site, There a better newer terminal buildings in NZ like Christchurch, Wellington, even Kerikeri than Auckland Airport.

Been waiting for this for a while 👍
Really loved this video, it’s kinda like friendliness being chic as well. Even the pilots were like "hey no big deal to be classy, it’s cool," and then landing in London. Awesome!
G'Day Sam, I recently flew same 777 seat setup , and being a pilot and aviation enthusiast, I have to agree, I kinda felt odd not having the usual window seat view. I won't do it short haul again, but long haul its great. Air NZ are crew are usually friendly to all pax, and the food outstanding. I'm glad you did the Mount Cook ski planes last time you were in NZ, fly safe, cheers Rodger
i am so excited today because im from New Zealand!! So cool to see you flying my personal favourite plane!
Nice video too! love it! keep up the Great work!!
I’ve operated this exact aircraft from AKL to LAX 😂
Sam chui I laik you video
My favorite flight AIR NEW ZEALAND...ALL BLACK.. LOVE IT ALOT ..KIA ORA..😍😍😍😍
Good review Sam. Thanks. Like you, it had been many, many years since I had flown Air NZ. The last time was also a B747-400 from LA to Auckland. My most recent flight with Air NZ was from Sydney to Houston via Auckland on their B787 and B777-300ER. It was a very nice flight. The seat config is a bit odd as you noted lacking some expected privacy. The seats should be angled toward the window and inward in the middle. I have heard these lack of privacy complaints before. Having lived in Singapore for 20+ years, I have been a loyal Singapore Airlines customer. However, after my flight with Air NZ, I would rate them higher than SIA from check in to arrival. The lounges, cabin crews, service, food and quality tops SIA in my opinion. I will fly Air NZ more often - when I can after this COVID situation.
The NZ planes looking so good, I love them.

Wow such a lovely friendly crew. I've never flown with Air New Zealand. I really need to try them now after seeing this video. Well done Sam.
When I was moving back home from England I took the LAX to AKL flight with Air New Zealand and as soon as I boarded the plane I felt I was already home...nothing beats kiwi hospitality no matter where your sitting.
I just realized after years of watching Sam's videos, it's like he's the main character of a video game because the plot is really involving him a lot and there's so many personal dialogue with him.
Thank you Sam for this post. I work on the Dash 8 Q300 regional fleet for our national airline and all I can say is that I am so lucky to still be flying around our country right at this moment. All our hearts are breaking for our and other airlines especially our London based crew who have just had the worst news.. Arohatinonui Kia koutou katoa I te whanau. And that would have been one of the last times Air NZ flew that route. It was due to end in November, but they pulled the pin early in March when COVID struck. Glad you enjoyed it! I also really like the Star Alliance lounge at LAX.

Took this same flight last year. Excellent service, great experience, it's a shame that Air New Zealand will no longer be flying LAX to LHR after October 2020, they were so enjoyable to fly with.
If you're looking for something different, may I recommend LAX to AKL?
Wow beautiful flight I ever seen in my life wow wow 💕❤️

It was great to spot the Concorde upon your landing at Heathrow. I would have thought it would have been in a more prominent location - as it is, it looks like an old used car put at the back behind all the nice newer vehicles. At least people landing or taking off can see it. As always Sam, another wonderful video. Stay safe and be healthy!

We did this flight (all the way from AKL though!) in Aug 2019. I LOVE Air NZ and am so sad that they stopped flying from LHR. I’ve been in economy and premium economy and think the service is top notch. Entertainment is excellent- free wifi is worth its weight in gold.

Wow, Kiwis really have it with their wines! 😂
south islander tread carefully. You are talking to an Italian... 😆
We have the best in the world 😂
@@matteopiccini8937 Stick to pasta pal, your wines taste like cheap vinegar.
Our wine industry is very young compared to other countries. Probably about 50 years and in a lot of cases, much younger than that. Some of our wine makers have trained overseas. Wineries often have restaurants attached so the food and wine combinations can be had on the ground in New Zealand. Some people forget how fortunate we are to live here.
Excellent cabin crew, goodness, they were ALL impressive!
Great airline,always so friendly.
To feel the the real Air New Zealand experience you need to be in economy one of the best in the world in my opinion! Don't really like the layout of the business class though.

This is the weirdest type of seats I’ve ever seen in business class. How could you design a window seat facing the aisle instead of the window?
Exactly!
Same as virgin atlantic
Because thats NZ for ya, we're wierd like that. lool
Herringbone design, not many airlines use it anymore. Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is another example of Herringbone Business Class, and Cathay Pacific once used the layout in Business Class before switching to their current Reverse Herringbone, which many airlines use now in First and Business Class.
@-- Stems from the airline wanting to engage its customers rather than leave them to watch their movies. They are Redesigning and should appear on their new 787-10 Aircraft in a few years time
Sam, you are "the" luckiest SOB I can think of. You're living your life man. I believe you might end up in space one day. All the very best. With love from Sri Lanka

2:09 Be careful the corona virus, Mr, Sam. nice video to review Air New zealand B77W all black edition.
Lovely staff & pilots on board Air New Zealand!
Excellent video! I really like their black livery. The crew on this flight were very friendly.
I can’t imagine what the airline industry will look like after coronavirus.
For most countries, their main Airline will most likely be bailed out by their respective Government’s which is a good thing
It's like a wildfire at the moment. The "seed" is grounded but soon after the virus is gone all will come back and florish even bigger and better than before. Until the next bug emerges from a chinese wet market... If you want to hear what a real pilot thinks about the current mess then go to the "mentour aviation" - channel. He'll tell you!
The Dolphinator agree and the others tht survive are gonna b lucky and made the r JV hr decisions
I booked a ticket for next year to Italy for 500 dollars.
I think it will go back to "normal". The virus, not the airlines are the problem.
