Air New Zealand’s flight attendants are really so friendly. They’re equally friendly to the economy passengers as they are to first class. The food is also amazing. Definitely one of my favourite airlines.
The crew seems super friendly and nice. Just like New Zealanders usually. The interior of the plane is stylish. The food looks great, the service is 1.st class. It makes me feel like travelling with them to New Zealand and enjoy a 24 hours in the plane.
I've traveled quite a few airlines over the years and Air New Zealand still stands as my favourite. Nice, clean aircraft, great service, very efficient and really nice food. Can't beat them.

I have been to LAX so many times, I have flown to 21 countries. USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Israel, Germany, UK, Hungary, Slovakia, Norway, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, France, Iceland, New Zealand, and Austria. All those trips started at LAX. That airport is connected to me. The first plane I ever flew was an ELAL Israel airlines, on a 777-200ER when I was 4 weeks old. It’s true. The only 747s I flew were and British airways and I got to sit in the cockpit. I’ve sat in the cockpit of so many planes you can’t even imagine. I really like your channel and I love airplanes with all my heart thanks for making this video about LAX! 😀 I flew the BA jumbo from Cape town, South Africa to London, Heathrow! 🛫✈️🛬 how can people dislike this channel, its the best!!

Air New Zealand have a base at LHR especially for this flight. Good to hear some British accents and the cracking Northern Ireland one off the chap closing the door! I hope they will be okay with the closure of the route and the downturn in aviation.
I just realized after years of watching Sam's videos, it's like he's the main character of a video game because the plot is really involving him a lot and there's so many personal dialogue with him.
When I was moving back home from England I took the LAX to AKL flight with Air New Zealand and as soon as I boarded the plane I felt I was already home...nothing beats kiwi hospitality no matter where your sitting.
Really loved this video, it’s kinda like friendliness being chic as well. Even the pilots were like "hey no big deal to be classy, it’s cool," and then landing in London. Awesome!

Good review Sam. Thanks. Like you, it had been many, many years since I had flown Air NZ. The last time was also a B747-400 from LA to Auckland. My most recent flight with Air NZ was from Sydney to Houston via Auckland on their B787 and B777-300ER. It was a very nice flight. The seat config is a bit odd as you noted lacking some expected privacy. The seats should be angled toward the window and inward in the middle. I have heard these lack of privacy complaints before. Having lived in Singapore for 20+ years, I have been a loyal Singapore Airlines customer. However, after my flight with Air NZ, I would rate them higher than SIA from check in to arrival. The lounges, cabin crews, service, food and quality tops SIA in my opinion. I will fly Air NZ more often - when I can after this COVID situation.
I love Air New Zealand! Flew them many times to and from LA to Nadi Fiji, Auckland NZ and Sydney Aus. With all the flying I've done in my lifetime I never had the luck running into Sam. Someday, someday, I hope. Great video as usual, Sam! Too bad we remain in quarantine!
G'Day Sam, I recently flew same 777 seat setup , and being a pilot and aviation enthusiast, I have to agree, I kinda felt odd not having the usual window seat view. I won't do it short haul again, but long haul its great. Air NZ are crew are usually friendly to all pax, and the food outstanding. It was great to spot the Concorde upon your landing at Heathrow. I would have thought it would have been in a more prominent location - as it is, it looks like an old used car put at the back behind all the nice newer vehicles. We did this flight (all the way from AKL though!) in Aug 2019. I LOVE Air NZ and am so sad that they stopped flying from LHR. I’ve been in economy and premium economy and think the service is top notch. Entertainment is excellent- free wifi is worth its weight in gold.
And that would have been one of the last times Air NZ flew that route. It was due to end in November, but they pulled the pin early in March when COVID struck. Glad you enjoyed it! I also really like the Star Alliance lounge at LAX.

To feel the the real Air New Zealand experience you need to be in economy one of the best in the world in my opinion! Don't really like the layout of the business class though.
They're changing the New planes configuration as well as adding Sky Beds for hire on Long Haul also the Uniforms are being revamped as well as the interior lighting and Internet speeds end of 2020.
Respect to the amazing cabin crew! Even before the Coronavirus reared its ugly head, the Los Angeles to London portion of this flight from Auckland had been announced by Air NZ that were cutting this route to London later this year. The London based cabin crew on this portion of the NZ1/2 flights would have known they were loosing their jobs when this flight was taken and recorded. They all acted so professionally and proud to promote the airline regardless.
Our wine industry is very young compared to other countries. Probably about 50 years and in a lot of cases, much younger than that. Some of our wine makers have trained overseas. Wineries often have restaurants attached so the food and wine combinations can be had on the ground in New Zealand. Some people forget how fortunate we are to live here.
I know this was a year ago and sorry if someone has said this already! However the "hongi" ( breath of life) is exchanged in a symbolic show of unity the visitor and the people of the land are connected and are one because they have shared the same breath of life which then means you are welcome on our lands

Herringbone design, not many airlines use it anymore. Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is another example of Herringbone Business Class, and Cathay Pacific once used the layout in Business Class before switching to their current Reverse Herringbone, which many airlines use now in First and Business Class.

Dear Sam, True story... 1984 I was working for the Japan Group/Shimano when the 84 Olympics came to town. Being an ex professional racer I was given the task to take care of the New Zealand bike team as they had poor bicycles and shoddy equipment. Five months before the games the president of Shimano Japan gave me carte-blanche to get the whole team anything they needed, ie from hand built custom built bikes, tools and tons of equipment, even four full size rental vans. I died and went to heaven designing all these road and time trial bikes with the latest and some prototype Shimano equipment. Time trial being my fav, I poured my soul into every detail. Then a few days before the games the bike team started to arrive at LAX, and quickly took them to their secured living quarters. Knowing that I love time trial they were quick to show me their New Zealand racing skinsuits. I was shocked to see they were nearly 100% black and it was July as LA was melting in heat. I advised them to make white NZ skin suits and asked if they brought them The didn't. When it came time to run their TT race it was on the new #2 freeway, the surface was almost 125 degrees. Needless to say thanks to the black skin suites they almost didn't finish as heat exhaustion ate them alive. !!!BUT HEY WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME!!! As a thank you the team gave me a Time Trial Helmet and other beautiful gifts which to this day I still display their TT race helmet in my pro bike shop in Seattle. FUN. PS, I live just across the lake where Boeing makes their 737s and get to see them take off brand new for testing every day. Keep up the great work, Dan ( :
the wonderful NZ007 crew from SFO-AKL took turns to hold my 2 year old twin boys so my wife and i can nap a little bit. they were so cautious and gentle with my boys as if they were their own. i love air new zealand.
I’ve seen and heard so many poor reviews of Sam Chui, how he treats staff etc. He’s basically a spokesperson for each different air line. I’ve flown a lot of the routes he has but from my experience and what I see here is that Mr Sam gets quite a different experience to anyone else, no matter what class you fly
I agree. I feel the airline staff are pre warned of his arrival on to the plane to give a good impression because he has a huge following on this platform. Although I feel us kiwi’s are genuinely friendly people in general. Just don’t want people to think we are putting on an act so we don’t get receive bad reviews.
Sam should do a few videos about the longest, best, and worst flight he ever had. I find this very interesting. My buddy works for Lockheed and lives in Texas. He just flew to Hawaii and the entire flight (night flight) he had severe turbulence over the ocean. Pretty rare, but he said the plane was dropping hundreds of feet at a time. Wild ride.

For me it actually wasn't good to hear the British accents. I would've much rather prefered to hear kiwi crew. But I am bias since I'm kiwi myself lol

I’ve been lucky enough to fly Air NZ business class once, LHR to LAX. Was seated in 11J. Was a fantastic flight, great food and drink and I had a good sleep waking up fresh in Los Angeles.

To feel the the real Air New Zealand experience you need to be in economy one of the best in the world in my opinion! Don't really like the layout of the business class though.
They're changing the New planes configuration as well as adding Sky Beds for hire on Long Haul also the Uniforms are being revamped as well as the interior lighting and Internet speeds end of 2020.

Even before the Coronavirus reared its ugly head, the Los Angeles to London portion of this flight from Auckland had been announced by Air NZ that were cutting this route to London later this year.
The London based cabin crew on this portion of the NZ1/2 flights would have known they were loosing their jobs when this flight was taken and recorded. They all acted so professionally and proud to promote the airline regardless.

Our wine industry is very young compared to other countries. Probably about 50 years and in a lot of cases, much younger than that. Some of our wine makers have trained overseas. Wineries often have restaurants attached so the food and wine combinations can be had on the ground in New Zealand. Some people forget how fortunate we are to live here.
I know this was a year ago and sorry if someone has said this already! However the "hongi" ( breath of life) is exchanged in a symbolic show of unity the visitor and the people of the land are connected and are one because they have shared the same breath of life which then means you are welcome on our lands

Herringbone design, not many airlines use it anymore. Virgin Atlantic Upper Class is another example of Herringbone Business Class, and Cathay Pacific once used the layout in Business Class before switching to their current Reverse Herringbone, which many airlines use now in First and Business Class.

Dear Sam, True story... 1984 I was working for the Japan Group/Shimano when the 84 Olympics came to town. Being an ex professional racer I was given the task to take care of the New Zealand bike team as they had poor bicycles and shoddy equipment. Five months before the games the president of Shimano Japan gave me carte-blanche to get the whole team anything they needed, ie from hand built custom built bikes, tools and tons of equipment, even four full size rental vans. I died and went to heaven designing all these road and time trial bikes with the latest and some prototype Shimano equipment. Time trial being my fav, I poured my soul into every detail. Then a few days before the games the bike team started to arrive at LAX, and quickly took them to their secured living quarters. Knowing that I love time trial they were quick to show me their New Zealand racing skinsuits. I was shocked to see they were nearly 100% black and it was July as LA was melting in heat. I advised them to make white NZ skin suits and asked if they brought them The didn't. When it came time to run their TT race it was on the new #2 freeway, the surface was almost 125 degrees. Needless to say thanks to the black skin suites they almost didn't finish as heat exhaustion ate them alive. !!!BUT HEY WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME!!! As a thank you the team gave me a Time Trial Helmet and other beautiful gifts which to this day I still display their TT race helmet in my pro bike shop in Seattle. FUN. PS, I live just across the lake where Boeing makes their 737s and get to see them take off brand new for testing every day. Keep up the great work, Dan ( :
the wonderful NZ007 crew from SFO-AKL took turns to hold my 2 year old twin boys so my wife and i can nap a little bit. they were so cautious and gentle with my boys as if they were their own. i love air new zealand.

I’ve seen and heard so many poor reviews of Sam Chui, how he treats staff etc.
He’s basically a spokesperson for each different air line. I’ve flown a lot of the routes he has but from my experience and what I see here is that Mr Sam gets quite a different experience to anyone else, no matter what class you fly
I agree. I feel the airline staff are pre warned of his arrival on to the plane to give a good impression because he has a huge following on this platform. Although I feel us kiwi’s are genuinely friendly people in general. Just don’t want people to think we are putting on an act so we don’t get receive bad reviews.

My buddy works for Lockheed and lives in Texas. He just flew to Hawaii and the entire flight (night flight) he had severe turbulence over the ocean. Pretty rare, but he said the plane was dropping hundreds of feet at a time. Wild ride.
