That's not true. I fly AC for past 28 years internationally and it's as good as any other international airline. I know people who are working for AC as flight attendants with seniority and trust me, they have no reason to hate their job. I wonder where you get that 'they hate their job'??? In fact, they're financially rewarded better that Emirats on beginning level. So, just because this guy had ine negative experience and this is his own personal opinion, that doesn't mean that AC in not good airline.
Unfortunately, Air Canada cabin crew have a history of passive aggressive behaviour. Their union is so powerful and makes it nearly impossible to fire these drags.
My guess is since the airline is so subsidized that the cabin staff is aiming to reduce the number of passengers per flight. Even the cabin manager, if one thinks about it. The plane flies whether there's 30 or 250 people on it. They get paid the same. Now tell me what's easier, serving 250 passengers, screaming babies, and cranky elderly people, or a nice quiet empty.. Airline operates no matter what the livery manifest says, and an airport will most likely give gate priority to half full plane, in turn easier on the cabin crew. Air Canada's cabin crew seem to average over 45, so physical labor is not on the top of their list. Best thing is the airlines powerless, as a strike shuts down everything and is bad press for True Dough !!!!! 1. Airline is heavily subsidized, operates no matter what 2. Tail wags the dog, so the crews shape the Airline as they wish 3. An empty plane is easier to service than an full one 4. Paychecks and Raises are gurranteed, no incentive to improve 5. Airline innovates by cutting passenger comforts, and charging for irrelevant things.

Sorry you had such an uncomfortable experience. As a Canadian, I have to tell you that AC is not very respected here. They used to be one of the foremost airlines in the world. Their service and reputation has deteriorated badly over time. I do not fly anymore, but if I did, I would only fly AC if I had no other choice. However, that being said, I'm glad they "made it up to you". BTW, this is the first report of yours I have seen. I appreciate your honesty.
Sorry, haven't flown AC in a long while, so cannot answer your question. However, last I heard I believe they do. I think there are a few airlines that do charge for headsets, but not 100% sure.
People shouldn’t be saying things that are not true. I have been flying air canada now for 20 years and every year qualified as Gold Elite member. Air canada service is exceptional good. I flown all the three classes of Air Canada, both short and long haul. Looking forward to many flights with my beloved airline.
You must be in a minority. Every time I hear comments about AC people are complaining about the lack of service and uncaring crew members. Any comments I have heard like yours, are very few and far between. If you have never had a problem, consider yourself very fortunate.
This guy gives authentic experiences and reviews. Sam Chui videos are out of perspective, he gets the friendliness and service because he’s Sam Chui. This guy gets the experience we would get if we wanted to vlog on a plane.
I write about filming on board above. It really does have to be with permission from the airline. If a guy walks into your workplace and just starts filming you... how would you feel? An aircraft is not really a public space but EVEN IF IT WERE, anyone should be able to go about their work WITHOUT being recorded on video, if they don't want to be. How would you feel?
@@djlondon7956 A person shouldn't work in hospitality businesses if the person don't want to be filmed and most important don't know how to politely decline being filmed when the higher authority already given permission to be flimed. Hi Josh! There will always be people working in the air who are totally ignorant to other peoples wishes. I spent 20 years as cabin crew and I always tried to have this attitude that my passengers are paying my salary and they come onboard with a hope of a great experience and this is something I wanna provide. If I were this cabin manager on this AirCanadaflight I would have briefed my crew like this; "Today we have a guy with us doing review on us as carrier and as crew. Treat him like you treat everyone else and this means; givne them all the best service. He will be filming onboard and this is a grand opportunity for us to show that our passengers has picked the best airline. So, crewmembers; get out there and shine, like we always do".
I stopped flying air Canada after being treated badly from speaking to the staff on the phone to the staff on the plane. They were so rude to me that I was shaking and full of anxiety. It took me a few days to get over the stress they put me under. West jet is the way to fly when flying a Canadian airline.
The thing is, you have no idea how bad the experience was and maybe the person is dealing with heavy anxiety already. Traumatic things are not easy to get over.
I believe it. I used to work in a hotel where we hosted Air Canada staff every day so I used to meet over 100 Air Canada employees at least 5 days a week. I must say they were the rudest bunch of people I have ever encountered. Not all but most of them.
Josh, my name is Michel and am also a Service Director (Cabin Manager) for Air Canada for 15 years. I am so sorry to see what you’ve gone through on this LHR-YYZ flight. It seem my colleague over-reacted or miss-understood your intention since the Captain and AC had pre-approved your filming. I do the LHR-YVR regularly and your presence would have been welcome on my flight and my crew briefed appropriately. Glad to see colleagues of other department made it up to you! Best to you! ✈️🎥
Wow Air Canada! Possibly a good lesson in public relations that one bad customer experience garners 8,200 reactions and 330,000 views, and I'm watching it 2 years after it happened. So it sticks. It does not make me ashamed to be Canadian, but it makes me ashamed of you. It was 13 minutes into this video before Josh referred to David, the Cabin Manager, apologising for his behaviour, and frankly, 13 minutes is a long time in UA-cam time, and it's time you deserve. It's not so much just the Cabin Manager's behaviour, it's the fact that the cabin crew TURNED THEIR BACK on a paying customer. Not flying with you, ever.
Same here. I'm Australian and I travel. I'm also a retired third-level airline pilot. And it seems Qantas is going this way too and has been for some time - although I have not flown Qantas for some time for that very reason.
I'm personally ashamed you are a Canadian! I'm ashamed of Air Canada as well. So both of you can be low class together. Go apply for them it sound like you will fit in great.
I flew Air Canada last year, Zurich-Toronto. I was genuinely surprised how rude and disinterested the cabin crew was. It felt more like we were ‘burden’ to them. It’s not a nice experience especially when you pay so much money.. Another shock was their food. Absolutely sub-par, but that’s another story.
Us Canadians really got the short end of the stick with airlines. Air Canada and WestJet are both just terrible airlines with terrible service. I'm always relieved when I get the chance to fly other airlines outside of Canada, there is such a clear difference.
@@roses.9181WestJet got bad too? I flew WestJet YYZ to LAX and I remember it was a much more pleasant experience than AC. Sad to hear that deteriorated too
@@ljupcokocarev6623 they used to be better! they were focused on having employees be owners of the company as well, and treated them better than AC did. And then in Feb 2022, they got a new CEO, Alexis von Hoensbroech, and they've been deteriorating ever since.
That's a bad experience indeed! I did not have any problem filming onboard Air Canada recently (and I did not inform them upfront). Love your videos. Keep them coming!
I cannot understand the cabin manager's attitude towards somebody being escorted by ground staff to the plane like a VIP. It is like arriving at a famous international hotel and get a slap from the recepcionist.
All_Roads the flight crew were cool with his filming, they even told him that if he wanted footage of the flight deck it was fine. It was the cabin crew that was the problem. Cabin crew bad attitude is not unusual and happens more often than many realise.
Chatta290 that’s common these days. Had a similar incident on a Qantas flight years ago after which I chose alternate airlines for years. In my experience, when you get bad service from the cabin crew, ask for their names and positions. They will be reluctant if they realise that they are in the wrong and will generally change their attitude. If they still have an attitude and ask why, tell them that you need it for your report. If they offer you a complaint form, tell them that will not be necessary as you will be sending your report directly to management. If possible, film them behaving badly and send the footage to management with the report/complaint. If you get no response, post it on social media, you’ll get a response then 😊👍.
It doesn’t matter if he was being escorted into the plane, no one should be treated like that. If he was treating Josh like this just imagine how he was treating other passengers in economy. It’s all about respect FOR EVERYONE.
A guy sitting at an airport bar noticed a beautiful woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, "Wow, she's so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant; but which airline does she work for?" Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and said, "Love to fly and it shows?" She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself, she doesn't work for Delta. A few seconds later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, "Something special in the air?" She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself and scratched American Airlines off of the list. Next he tried "I would really love to fly your friendly skies?" This time the woman barked back at him "Man, what the fu*k do you want?" The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, "Ahhh, Air Canada".
Yeah but by boarding the plane he can make good content out of the situation (he began tweeting about the experience as soon as the aircraft took off). A little bit of discomfort for a bunch of good content. Nothing at all wrong about him doing this - gotta be strategic.
Can be rather "contemptuous," you mean disdainful, disrespectful? I think l can come up with adjectives far better suited for their service: Obnoxious, horrifying, ignorance, unqualified, not worth the paper they're printed on. I could be more explicit, but I'd be lowering myself to their standards, so l will refrain from doing so.
Being from Canada, I feel so much empathy for you that someone in this position pulled a power trip and then you were treated that way by the crew! It is completely unacceptable and so isolating! I know very little about flying, but I do know about professional, appropriate behaviour. It begs the question whether the manager felt he had something to hide. I'm glad to hear he apologized. All this pre-flight preamble makes me wonder why they are so nervous about being reviewed.
Josh ! As a former Flight Attendant I would have removed that FA or walked off the plane if I was not the A position.. but I suspect this idiot was A) jealousy. B) His boyfriend left him. C) He thinks he has power but he is just a hotel manager in the sky..... so in the end, you got this idiot because I am sure AC will take a ton of heat for it. Keep doing what you are good at...cheers!
I have encountered incredibly rude staff every time I have flown Air Canada. I live 25 minutes from our airport where our only option is Air Canada. The staff that work the flights from this terminal are beyond rude so I drive 2 hours to another airport where I have other options.
The guy who complained should just sit and get a tomato in his mouth. Cabin crew are there not to satisfy your silly curiosity...THEY WORK THERE. And you...pitful influencer...( What is it???) are just a useless parasite
The use of those words by them is not good for me. As a uk person, I thought Full Legal Package meant, yes you can film, we will give you the legal packages (paperwork to sign for model releases) I wish officials in USA and Canada would say thinks literally and clearly. Reminds me of immigration in Cali where there was a guy by the rope line to immigration desks, i never realised he stamped my passport to exit (there was a 6 inch gap in rope as it meandered back towards the desks) all he said was "you made your choice" what the hell does that mean. I only knew when he shouted over to the desks, the last guys been done. Well thanks for telling me.
I respectfully disagree. I fly regularly with AC internationally, to Europe, long hauls and they're as good as any other national European airline. To compare AC to any American airline is ridiculous.
@@luciasaunders9736 American Airlines have good international service, especially compared to air Canada. To say otherwise is to be in denial, or a sense of Canadian insecurity and inferiority complex to the us.

I can see your discomfort and anxiety on the aircraft. It is sad how one person's rotten, haughty attitude can spoil what otherwise had the potential to be a great experience and review for Air Canada. Well done to Air Canada's ground crew and Pilots for acting professionally. Sadly, all their good work gets tainted by the cabin attendants' unprofessional attitude. I am sorry you had to experience that bad hospitality. One thing that cabin crews often forget is that passengers rarely remember what the aircraft looked like, what amenities they were given, how the food was. Most of it is really average and not very memorable, even on Air Canada. One thing they DO remember, however, is how the crew made them FEEL.
I agree. I refuse to fly Qatar due to a pursers horrendous attitude to my almost deaf 80 year old father trying to go to the toilet. I was disgusted and wish i had filmed this horrible man, i was mystified this guy was a purser with QR and therefore concluded the staff way below standard
Purser is definetly gonna get a little talk about what happened. He stepped way out of line, and outside of his salary class, with the amount of negative PR he managed on one single flight.
Hi Josh Good job. I was a Flight Attendant for TWA for almost 20 years and part of that was as a Flight Service Manager (same as Cabin Manager). Our policy, as far as cabin lighting, We wanted to match the light as the outside in case of an evacuation. Cabin lights on for daytime departure and off for night departures.
It’s hard to find someone who is actually impartial when it comes to reviewing airlines. Your content is amazing and in my opinion, the most thorough when it comes to air travel.
It's 2019 and Air Canada of all airlines doesn't need to act like Air Koryo. Air Canada should brief their crews that aviation videographers are huge now, and competing airlines recognize the immense benefit UA-camrs are for their brand. Look at the Canadian airline Westjet. They rolled out the red carpet for UA-camrs (even the one's that refuse free flights) for their inaugural LGW to YYC 787 service. Lastly, the United issue should encourage Air Canada to welcome documentation of their superior service. It should be a source of confidence and pride. Air Canada seemed to try to make it right, but what happened... happened. Hopefully Josh's experience can have a positive impact on company culture.

I always fly AC to Asia because I love the 787. It’s a mixed bag. While no one is rude, they are sometimes indifferent. They always service me which is fine but it’s inconsistent. Unlike Asian airlines there are a lot of older flight crew who seem like they are a little tired of the job. I would say when flying out of an airport from Canada the food is generally terrible but flying back from Asia, the food from Asian airline catering companies is far superior especially Taiwan or Japan.I fly them for safety, the 787 but service is hit or miss. That’s my honest review.
I fly to asia twice a year from yyz and AC is my last choice , I have many choices from yyz , eva is easily my first choice , if you want 787 go Korean there great also
AC only has a couple of Asian destinations. You'd be far better off flying an Asian carrier. Unless your destination is Hong Kong or Shanghai that is, because Air Canada doesn't fly to these major Asian cities: Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Denpasar-Bali, Phuket and many more.
@@ritchie2634 Also, it's almost always a lot more expensive to change airlines - so many airlines are offering a one-stop service between the USA/Canada and just about every major city in Asia. If you change airlines you may need to pick up and recheck your luggage too.

Yikes.!! Sounds horrible..would never fly with them.
1. Airline is heavily subsidized, operates no matter what
2. Tail wags the dog, so the crews shape the Airline as they wish
3. An empty plane is easier to service than an full one
4. Paychecks and Raises are gurranteed, no incentive to improve
5. Airline innovates by cutting passenger comforts, and charging for irrelevant things.
Blame the unions. Red scare taught you well.
@@jacintofernandes2907 Not all unions are bad, but you have to admit, firing a bad employee is made much more difficult if they are in one. What is red scare?

Sorry you had such an uncomfortable experience. As a Canadian, I have to tell you that AC is not very respected here. They used to be one of the foremost airlines in the world. Their service and reputation has deteriorated badly over time. I do not fly anymore, but if I did, I would only fly AC if I had no other choice. However, that being said, I'm glad they "made it up to you". BTW, this is the first report of yours I have seen. I appreciate your honesty.
Brian does air canada charge for head sets ? I read that once, a few yrs ago. Still happening ?
Sorry, haven't flown AC in a long while, so cannot answer your question. However, last I heard I believe they do. I think there are a few airlines that do charge for headsets, but not 100% sure.
People shouldn’t be saying things that are not true. I have been flying air canada now for 20 years and every year qualified as Gold Elite member. Air canada service is exceptional good.
They don’t really care. Time to move on

Alan Piper the power has clearly gone to their heads.
Yeah exactly
It doesn’t matter if he was being escorted into the plane, no one should be treated like that. If he was treating Josh like this just imagine how he was treating other passengers in economy. It’s all about respect FOR EVERYONE.
This is why I'm a big fan of your channel. You give us your experience exactly how it is- without any sugar coating. Love your work.
A guy sitting at an airport bar noticed a beautiful woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, "Wow, she's so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant; but which airline does she work for?"
Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and said, "Love to fly and it shows?"
She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself, she doesn't work for Delta.
A few seconds later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, "Something special in the air?"
She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself and scratched American Airlines off of the list.
Next he tried "I would really love to fly your friendly skies?"
This time the woman barked back at him "Man, what the fu*k do you want?"
The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, "Ahhh, Air Canada".

You should havent boarded the plane. That treatment would be enough for them. File a complaint against cabin manager and crew to Air Canada's CEO
@mariha asif Absolutely right! I think the Cabin Manager was doing this for long time. That person is a bully. No doubt about it.
Yeah but by boarding the plane he can make good content out of the situation (he began tweeting about the experience as soon as the aircraft took off). A little bit of discomfort for a bunch of good content. Nothing at all wrong about him doing this - gotta be strategic.
In my experience, Air Canada can be rather contemptuous. One of the very few airlines I actively avoid.

One thing that cabin crews often forget is that passengers rarely remember what the aircraft looked like, what amenities they were given, how the food was. Most of it is really average and not very memorable, even on Air Canada. One thing they DO remember, however, is how the crew made them FEEL.

Good job.

Maybe the cabin manager is so used to bullying his juniors that he thought he could intimate you. He was definitely wrong for threatening you and he wanted to show you he's the boss. He should be hauled up for his uncalled for behavior. Good that you did not leave the flt and he would have "won"! Keep doing your honest good work cos it is such a fantastic job you are doing. Keep it up Josh 👍👍👍
Earlier posting.... typo..... I mean intimidate you and not intimate you
I follow your youtube channel since a while ... I love that your reviewS ARE NATURAL and could easily help, someone, to decide what to choose according to their budget.
WHAT?!
How could Air Canada do this?!
I mean, I've never flown Air Canada, but I knew they were reasonably good. But this...the manager who said and did these horrific things...he should fined and fired.
Somebody didn't like being filmed, the service manager didn't handle it in an appropriate way. Honestly this just shows that policies haven't caught up with technology.
Three years later - and this is sticking!
gosh, I fell your pain Josh. You feel so pure, idk there is sum i see in you that just makes me happy about you, hope i bump into you one day.
I think it's an isolated incident.. I took air canada from Toronto to Vancouver and it was fine .. business class.. but yeah .. after this I'm not taking them again .. no excuses for that kind of behaviour
Westjet: Thank you for recording us Josh we hope you had an amazing flight ! Air canada : WHY ARE YOU RECORDING US DELETE THIS NOW.
Westjet is way better than Air Canada, I Do not fly Air Canada, terrible airline!!

Turkish Airlines Fan Yes that’s exactly what will happen
@@rhylerember well yeah, but at least it's better
@@NotBray Agreeeeeeeeeeeeed!!!
Some companies badly treat you even without a camera, let alone filming.I do not dare doing that! Congrats!
First time watching your video.
Thank you for a honest review.
As a Canadian, I have flown AC on many occasions and I also find the cabin crew very arrogant and rude.
Especially if you are a visible minority and the crew member is also a visible minority, they seem to NOT notice you!
I hope they address this in their training.
If the pilot gives His Permission, Surely the Cabin Manager is Overruled
I honestly hope the employee was fired, it’s people like him that make travel less fun.
I totally agree... People like that should not have jobs like this
Thank you Josh for your honesty. May I make one simple remark regards your reviews. The negative ones are clearly worthwhile and we hope that the airlines take notice. They should. I think that you could successfully convey your experiences in an about half the time. Having said that, I can feel your passion, and your need to express that adequately. I’ve travelled extensively, and cannot recall a bad experience like any of yours. Then again, I don’t film or post reviews while flying. Keep up the great work.
Flying Air Canada is like having a baby. They are so unprofessional,it`s amazing!
My wife flew in Sept./2019 and they managed to rip her off for 160$.
And this comes from a Canadian!
Fly Lufthansa, best people in the World
Yes! Another honest opinion.
I’m a Canadian and I don’t fly AC unless I don’t have another choice. WestJet is much better. Thanks for your true disclosure!
Classical air Canada!!! If you weren't famous they wouldn't bother to apologize
classic
My daughter was sworn at in French by a Montreal based cabin crew on Air Canada because she didn’t understand their poor heavily-accented English.
I have witnessed an Air Canada gate agent threaten to call police on a passenger who’s flight was cancelled when he politely asked where he could collect his baggage.
Gosh, you looked so frazzled! I'm so sorry, you looked terrified. I also work for a narcissistic bully so I know EXACTLY how you (and the cabin crew) felt. Again, I am sorry for this horrible experience.
What a burn for the territorial, insecure purser when the pilots welcomed Josh! He should learn his place. He's essentially a waiter. I wish we had a better national airline in Canada.
Realy sad story. If i was there on the plane as a cabincrew i would support you Josh and say i am so sorry for this situation that you cant film any of us working on the plane. And that the cabin manager was against you. I realy hope you will have a nice flight still in this situation that has happend. Im so happy that you decided to take this flight. And reach out to shake your hand. I realy feel for you as i love airplanes and flying so much my self.❤️
Anyone who takes their time to watch your vlogs Josh would instantly learn that you abide by the rules and then some. I also watch Razgriz Flight & Spotting channel. I enjoy both channels but where they don't talk at all or very little you give great active feedback. Please don't stop
Honestly I’ve always had a really good experience with Air Canada
Maybe , they pay you to say that. Shit airline compare to any Asian airlines .
@@ivanbobanwar1320 What are you on about them paying me
I had a similar experience when I flew with them Business Class last March from Seoul to Frisco......the first thing one of the flight attendants said to me as soon as I stepped onboard and was filming was "you are not allowed to film the crew as stated when you bought your ticket". Very unwelcoming and unprofessional. Will definitely NOT fly with them again!!!!!
Well one thing the cabin manager did well, very strong first impression!
I've only flown with AC once from tokyo to vancouver. Never again. Smallest seats and pitch and rude flight attendants. And there was a 2 hour delay which caused me yo miss my connection. No compensation or food vouchers. Ended up with a 9 hour transfer instead of the original 2 hours because of delay
