Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
There are at least 10 comments that have been posted asking where this spot is. There is a reason fisherman don’t “spot burn”, or give up there locations. Just imagine if they said where they were and everyone asking where it was showed up? It’d get fished out and ruin it for everyone. I’ve actually fished this exact spot and it’s tiny, especially dependent on the tide. Do your own research as to where fish are and reap the benefits, just as these guys have done.
Jason Jones no but like what general region is this spot located in
@@halfasgrey7380 US west coast.
dude this spot is beyond burned. its not a secret especially since matts made a video here a few years ago.
true but leopard sharks are everywhere
Research literally means asking other fishermen where good spots are. Some of us live too far away to go saltwater fishing every weekend. We ask for information to make those rare trips worth the time and expense.
One of the few catch and cookers with some real chef skills! Keep it up!!
because he is an actual professional cook lmao. he makes a living as a cook first and foremost and he does this on the side as a hobby/passion!!
@@henlolneh noooo shit...................
A stick of butter and some garlic is more than enough.
That is straight facts
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo 😂 this dude cooking 🗑
I used to eat those when i went pking in runescape
Only chads ate tiger sharks.
f2p can only eat up to swordfish : (
Wait until this guy gets the monkfish
The fact that I'm afk slayer training and decided to watch videos and scrolled down to see this comment is amazing.
Lmao
nothing like a great day getting hammered on the river!!
Ah, this was one of the most exciting and fun fishing days I've had lately! First time eating shark and it was D-lish-ush.
Thank you God for putting this UA-camr on my recommended
Mad Monkey agreeeeedsds
God is fake lmao
Miso Horny damn that’s crazy but who asked
AstralDugong _YT god
Agreed
I kinda wish that they'd show the dispatching and cleaning process for this one, but still awesome!
Andre Hooper 69 unfortunately knowing UA-cam it would get demonetized
They nerfed UA-cam
Also nice Andre
Leopard shark... yummy ! We harvested about a 5/6 pounder an cubed the meat in small pieces, wrapped up in tinfoil with butter, lemon garlic and let the cubes simmer while we ate our Calico Bass fish tacos. None of had ever eaten a Leopard shark so we were tentative (early 90's), but we knew at that point we had been ignoring some great eating shark during our dives ! Angel shark also very tasty.
Been following the firebox channel for a couple years now. Such a great cooking tool. Love the radiant heat and direct flame it delivers. Shoutout to Firebox Stove and the family!
Damn, you should have kept that 60-70 pound sting ray you first caught. Grilled sting ray is crazy delicious. The meat is stringy, juicy and slightly more dense than fish. Hope you will return to the same spot and catch one to try on video.
To all the people that are saying poor shark and disliking the video it's not his fault it's your, you shouldn't have clicked this if you don't like watching animals catch and cook it's part of life by the way I'm a new subscriber! ❤
Oh my gosh I love these videos I have been waiting for a catch and cook shark video for ever thank you your the best chef ever
Good to hear Craig Evans given a shout out. Glad, also, that the leopard shark isn't endangered....
instead of grabbing your pliers and opening your beer, find a flat surface with a edge, then place the side of the cap on the edge and smack the cap down. it’s fun and works
I'm literally going leopard shark fishing tomorrow morning. This video came in clutch
Beautiful creatures.
@@TySoVm and tasty!
How comes your allowed to catch them
S Sav not endangered and abundant in that area
Good eating fish.
You've got some of the greatest videos ever, I've never tried sushi but I'm considering on trying it because of your videos and how you prepare the food.
Really cool! I think it’s really neat that you know the law when it comes to your catch as well!
HELLL YEA a brand new catch and cook video with my favourite fishing youtuber
Almost 100K subscribers! Congrats Taku!! Food is lookin good as always.
I saw that firebox and i was like "hell yeah!"
The firebox guy can cook too.
Epic chef skills
I almost cried it looks sooooooo good
those fillets on the firebox reminded me of that catch and cook scene in WaterWorld. always wondered what kevin costner was eating, thx for helping me imagine it lol
Ish With Fish I have to look that up and watch again now
Fresh food. No supermarket needed. Cant be fresher
Wow these leopard sharks are beautiful creatures! 😍
Nice group of individuals. Well done
I've had black tip shark and it's delicious! I'll have to put leopard shark on my bucket list.
Makes me want to go catch some rays and sharks now
yeah l don't know why they didn't keep the rays
@@RenaldMusic cause the meat is terrible and rays arent really used as food
First foraging video I’ve watched was on Craig’s channel, then yours! Since then, I’m hooked 🥰 Learned a lot! Now, I’m eating wilds 😅 I even bought the “BAY AREA FORAGER” book ‘cos you’ve mentioned it in one of your vids! Sending you some love from Japan! Keep uploading 🥰
Your coolers 4 in one keeps fish fresh beer cold holds your pole and it’s a chair
Best Catch and Cooks on youtube man and i love your humble approach to fishing, thanks for sharing. Cheers!
awesome idea for a rod holder. I'll have to try that.
Those tacos look stupid good. What a great show.
"It's not fighting much" he says
Proceeds on a 1/4 mile hike being walked by a fish.
I remember catching these at SF with my pops, they were good, RIP dad, cancer sucks, 2019.
RIP your dad bro, nice to have those memories, cheers m8
itsGRYME thanks man
That was scrumptious. 👍 thanks for sharing.
The best fish vid ever
That Ray looked kinda adorable. I want to cuddle it.
Always look forward for your catch and cook videos! Much love, from Indonesia 💕🇮🇩
This is how war starts
NO MUCH LOVE FROM ENGLAND🇬🇪
Already seen this video but I'll watch it again.
Aaron Xiong other youtuber did it but here's great too. Taco sharks lol
i love my firebox too. i bet steve would be excited to see this
And we do apologize for eating in front of ya', But this is what we call fishermen's privilege ... :)
The Seven-Ups.....
Shark is such an amazing tasting fish. We eat heaps of them here in Australia. We eat mostly 'gummy' and 'school' sharks... bottom dwelling and docile but mighty tasty!
Damn, didn't know Paranthropus ate fish.
Would be cool to have a drone up in the air. Imagine seeing the shark fight with the line from a birds eye view as he glides through the water from side to side!
Check out PhilosophyD’s video of the same catch and cook. He has a drone up and good video of the catches.
@@jasonjones6428 This is basically the same fishing trip as one of Philosophy D's just "as told by Taku"
You rock brotha! Bless u for the videos, your knowledge, and your transparency in great food adventures.
Can we all have a moment of silence for that fishing pole at 1:52?
Yo next time do a spiny dogfish shark fish and chips catch and cook. Dogfish are such an underrated fish here in North America
Damn, the arms on this guy :') easy reeling in!
Greetings from Thornton Colorado! I used to fish there in the 70’s and lived in Monterey Bay. You could clam there too. Yeah Firebox is badass. He has awesome equipment and channel.
Nice catch and great presentation !
Nobody sponsors you but you advertise something every video. I love it.
Though I love catching Leopard Sharks (45" yesterday morning along w/ four 28-30") the Bat Rays are the REAL beasts. Got one w/ wingspan of 38" yesterday afternoon.........took a solid 20 minutes to bring it in...........on the point, to the left and just downstream from where you're standing.
This should be on the Food Network. Your living my dream!!
At 0:15 you can see a little squirt from the ground on the right. Could be a clam but I have never clammed before so idk
My professor showed us pickle weed when i was back in college its pretty darn salty but definitely has a good texture like a little green bean!
Any chance you could do a catch and cook with the bat ray
Here’s a video that got over 250k views about just that...

Bro! Keep that extra samurai sharp knife on you at all times! You never know when you’ll have to get rad. Especially you!
So stoked you’re keeping on the videos.
Keep them wild.
Keep them Japanese.
Keep them about that beautiful ocean life.
You will get exponentially public!
Stay up.
0:15 bottom corner. Anyone notice that water squirting up out of the ground? What is that? Clam?
Yep clam probably horse neck
Great Stuff! Can't wait for the next one man!
New favorite channel.
Yes!!! Get Jocelyn to do more catch and cook. And it was good when she stood up to the grizzly bear
Love the firebox channel. Really want one
catch and cook with a shark?
That is incredible!!
Thank you for the video :)
Damn that looked great. thanks for the video!
@ 10:38 puffy daddy, "take 1, take dat, take dat!" Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
very cool!
I liek et
I just ate. Am stuffed. And my mouth is still watering, watching this!
Local fisherman here; Leopard sharks DO NOT pee through their skin. They are vertebrates, they have kidneys and a urinary track. This misconception, however, stems from the fact that they have a high Urea content in their blood plasma. Lots guys soak the meat in milk overnight to hep leech it out but I've had them fresh like this and never had an issue with the quality.Great vid, thanks for sharing.
Good to know, thanks!
Good to know as we have an abundance of leopard shark in my area. Looks the thing is to prep it in the spot!
*Overall **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I feel the Shadowfire 360 offers excellent value for those who are new to tenkara and don't want to break the bank on their first rod purchase.*
''It's not fighting much''.. takes him on a 20 min run. Awesome.
Just wanted to say you're the reason why I bought myself foraging books lol too bad I don't live my the coast would be fun. But Lake Michigan has a lot to offer too :)
Great vid! I like that firebox!
Gotta have those beers when fishing!
Shark stir fried with chinese rice wine + fermented brown bean paste + ginger and scallions 10/10 try it
Great catch and it looks very Yummy!!!
Love your videos Taku!! Keep it up!
Shark is amazing and so is alligator and so is sword fish ... I really like white meat fish the most
Awesome video. Can't wait to try it myself!
Making me jealous with these awesome dishes... 😂😂
Knife is life!!!
Another quality video dude. As always
We've caught halibut at this location before. Definitely one of my favorite spots to fish thanks to my lovely husband. Lol
LiTTLE xFOOT where is this spot? I’d love to take my gf fishing there

Sweet video. It looks like a very pleasant moment to share with your friends !
man, incredible stuff
Knife is life ❤
Love that you let the big papa ray go.
i watch every craig evens! he is the best. so wise!
i always chuckle when he puts the rocks back and crushes a dozen craps and seacreatures. or his dog snacks them. absolute legend
That bat ray was massive, grats on that catch.
To the other anglers out there, please be responsible when harvesting leopard shark. They’re one of the slowest growing and reproducing species in our fisheries.
I have some friends that catch and released those kind of sharks! Thanks for sharing, might have to try it.
hey dude , just a suggestion , you can boil the shark pieces after cutting and then cook it or fry it or do what every. there will be no bones /cartilage is edible too
Great video! Being from Petaluma now living in the desert(AZ) Makes me miss shark fishing and a icy cold Little Sumpin from Lauganitas!
Really sad to see that someone cut its stinger and tail off. These rays can dissolve the hook in their mouths so if it really comes down to it you may as well cut the line and leave the hook. Don't maim the fish
Why not, people do it with sharks all the time with their fins and no one really seems to really care enough to actually do anything... At least the flapflap gets to live, even if disabled.
draggy76 it’s actually illegal in many countries to just take the shark fin so clearly people care. Idk why you’d even argue this, the Ray needs the tail and stinger for defense and to get bigger food so you’re essentially consigning it to die by cutting off the stinger and tail. It’s so easy to unhook these guys without hurting them, I’ve done it literally hundreds of times since I was about 10. I know you’re just trying to get a rise out of me but really, that’s your argument
Its a bat ray, not a sting ray so there isn't a so called stinger.
Christopher Noe it would be called a barb, and it essentially performs the same function
draggy76 twat.
Samphire is like the best costal vegetable ever! We do many on our coast in the UK
I’ve been seeing loads of farmers markets selling specifically strawberries! Maybe you can do a catch and cook and implement them. It would be cool interesting and unique
This video is very Long ago . I can’t wait for your newest video. Keep it up brother.
What?
