James, will you do garage update any time soon? Not gonna lie, I've lost track of all the cars you have haha.
I agree!
same
@@bluesky4733 It sounded like he traded it in on the new one.
I have no idea what cars he has as well. The green range tover, the tdf, the 911. What else ?
Nikola L. 720s?
Definitely a forever car. It will never date or go out of fashion 👌
If you had to pick a Forever Car, you really cannot go wrong with a Manual GT3
Absolutely. I would never buy this and get an automatic
@@kevintemido manual lovers have driven this car with pdk and still loved it so I'm sure pdk is great. However i agree with you. If i married a rich girl and she bought me this car I'd be upset if it wasn't a manual lol
Congrats James! I felt a bit down today and went to watch this to cheer me up! I want it too!!!
Dream car & spec for me, congrats James, I drive an old manual 987 boxster with a remus back box - I love it it's not fast but the noise and feeling it gives me is priceless
Congrats on the new Porsche. You are totally right in the Crayon. Gorgeous colour, particularly with the satin black wheels. I wish you continued success with your channel and NVM.
...and this is why James differs greatly and honestly with say... Shmee. The contrast between the pure petrolhead and the middle-aged spread, is personified beautifully here. Congratulations James, a pure-bred icon.
This is a shock for a gearbox snob but can’t beat a manual kudos James 👌🏻
Gearbox snobs know that the best gearboxes are manuals :P, specifically, the one in the CarreraGT
Rick W Well, you can beat it with a PDK any day, but if you want to have fun by working more (which is a real thing), manual is a good option
I agree chaps, I own both DCT and a manual and truth be told would take the manual for enjoyment everyday of the week
Zoya Spencer which is irrelevant. Quicker isn’t better, except for the ones only reading spec sheets.
Jochem He said you can’t beat a manual gearbox, when in fact, you can. The PDK beats it in all facets except being in complete control and the subjective “fun” factor. I personally would have opted for the manual too.
Very informative video James - I learn so much with your videos unlike most larger (relatively) car youtubers. It was interesting to know that you can improve the comfort/position with the 918-style bucket seats + useful to know about the benefits of speccing this car with aluminium pedals particularly in wet conditions. I really liked how you described the joys of a manual gearbox in which the driver's engagement with the car is retained even in very pedestrians speeds particularly in the UK. Speaking of great manual cars, you should have a go in a Honda NSX-R and S2000 in your next 'modern classics' episode. I don't work for nor get paid by Torque GT at all but that UK specialist dealership has a plethora of Japanese sportscars in pristine condition and have some quality videos on their youtube channel you can check out, if you are interested. Keep up the great work and it would be lovely to see a POV video on your manual GT3!
as a car designer this is my fav current car, not an RS but a normal GT3. the clean body without the side scoops and just aggressive enough to balance a timeless design. most importantly its a manual , its not about 0-100 , its about how you get there. congrats and looking forward to future videos and drives mr JWW.
I could not agree more. I owned the RS 991.2 and traded it for another cool car. Im in the market for another 991.2 and considered the RS... but hearkened back to the cartoonish nature of it.. and am opting for the GT3... a much more beautiful and well composed aesthetic.
Wow, James. That closing to this video has got me all nostalgic n' misty eyed (18:40)! Didn't expect that at all. Thank you so much for, as you so often do, striking at the heart of why we love these machines - it's not so much about the speed; but it's about the emotion, the people (like the times in the near future with your son) and the memories.
Being a father myself and the fact my son who is 5 now loves cars... The fact you're excited about sharing memories with your son is so lovely 👌🏻
That is gonna be so amazing mate, cant wait for the epic content to come!
I liked just after reading the title. Congrats on the new car james
Congratulations Mr JWW, can’t wait to see more videos of the new car
Cheers James! Good on ya. What a pleasure its been to watch this re-evaluation of your own personal GT3. I am some 20-30 yrs from owning my own but I loved watching and hearing how you negotiated the pros/cons between the PDK and the Manual. So special to think about you and your son carrying this car into his own chapter. Thank you Porsche... and cheers from L.A.
Thank you so much for your video of the GT3 manual, Just the push I needed to place a deposit on a Cayman 981 GTS with manual box
I honestly never realized how “in-tune” J was with his cars, until this video. Mad respect for your vision and passion!
Amazing choice this is what driving is all about , you and the machine nothing else. With every sense enhanced to the fullest!
I purchased my 2018 991.2 Gt3 manual approx 3 months ago and it is THE BEST car i have ever driven full stop. So engaging, fun & breathtaking all in one, Im also looking at the Techart carbon kit as well.
Great buy MrJWW welcome to the club 😎
Excellent video James!! Whilst I can relate but on somewhat a different level, I recently transitioned from a manual golf gti to a dsg golf r and you've just given me the confidence to admit publicly that the dsg golf r is a disappointment. I was trying to figure out why I didn't fall head over heels in love with the r but the reality is that a good manual box trumps paddle shift all day long for pure driver satisfaction! Looking forward to more content on this beauty!
Just bought a GT3 Touring myself too. I am going to keep it forever. Loving it.
Simon, I've got the same winged car as JWW here, just interested if your touring s' only difference is the wing, or are there other differences?
@@alexpheasants hi Alex. the main different is of course the wing, and Touring has no alcantara but only normal leather. Only manual is available, no PDK. In short, I consider it is a lifestyle expression. Same thing mechanically.
Get the Rennline pedal kit, especially the adjustable throttle pedal. You can adjust it in and out, top and bottom pads separately, and you can add width extensions. Makes it easy to set up perfectly for heel / toe. Honestly, I don’t even use the throttle blipper with these pedals. They are awesome.
James - I'm seriously impressed. Such a great car, right brand, right spec and a great fun sportscar! Look forward to more content with her!
Custom shims have been added... James, I think that is sales talk for a couple of 5p washers from B&Q ;)
Mr Jww amazed by his new gearbox.
Me looking at my manual 1.4 Peugeot in the middle of the traffic.
Even watching this after a year. This has helped me make a decision in buying a manual GT3. And that tips with the seat is a lifesaver. Hope to see this in your garage in the near future aling with the turbo S
I have never liked a video faster. Even though I am crazy AMG fan i think this car is so gorgeous especially in this color.
Wow, I wasn’t expecting that, what an amazing spec, the car looks fantastic but the as you say more importantly the seating position now looks bang on and the 918 seats themselves are so beautiful, these are things only true enthusiasts would worry about 👍
No. True enthusiasts worry about the sound, the feel, the speed. Thats what porsche stands for. Sure the looks are insane and if you have money you go for better options... But still.... Not what porsche is about.
jan lala you seemed to have missed my point, every car enthusiast knows Porsche has speed, feel and a unique sound in bucket loads, it the detail of having the seats shimmed to give the perfect driving position I was talking about!
BTW, the cliche of „man and machine“ works spot on to illustrate the love for manuals....! I never get full satisfaction from a car with whatever automatic transmission, even from the best double clutches I don’t get it....
Technically better does not always equate to actually better, this is something some people will never understand.
EugeneF15 ...I’d say it’s not important how fast a car drives but how it drives fast.... it’s not about 10th of seconds as we car connaisseurs know but about the engagement between car and driver - and this engagement undoubtedly grows with a manual as it means the driver can make more of a difference in how the car drives fast......
Fantastic, loving my manual 991 GTS for the same reasons
I appreciated what you had said originally when you acquired the PDK on the gearbox of the first GT3 BUT, now you're TALKIN !! Your comment about the lower speed stuff is what I had thought. Bravo.
Awesome stuff James 🙂👍🏻
Stunning car 🙂
But the intention to keep it, use it together, and pass it onto your Son.... PRICELESS! 💖👍🏻🙂
That right there is what cars are for,
Making Memories,
And making them Together, all the better 🙂
Thank you for allowing us all to tag along for the journey,
I look forward to some More Epic content 💖👍🏻
Keep up the fantastic work 🙂
All the best,
Mark 👍🏻
Love the new car James 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻great colour. Go the manual gearbox 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁
Awesome choice on the manual gearbox. I opted for the manual gearbox on my 992.2 miami blue gt3 myself and love it. The gearbox is amazing and I have so much fun driving it every time I get in it. Glad you made the decision to swap the PDK for the six speed.
Congrats! I love the idea of having this be the car you share with your boy. It cannot be understated how much of an impact such memories can have on a kid growing up, I speak from experience.
As for the car itself, amazing choice. As good as modern autos and twin clutches are, they tend not to age that well. I remember people arguing that the old Porsche tiptronic was superior to the manual as well. Same with BMW's SMG gearboxes, and many others. I think they are amazing in their time, but possibly not so much as better stuff hits the market. But a fantastic manual gear box, will ALWAYS be a fantastic manual gearbox. It's like bread, it's hard to improve upon the recipe.
that is my dream car 😭😭 good choice mate
You got me with the profile pic...
@@colinryan9188 lmao sorry the thing is i couldnt bothered to change it😆😆 need to change it tho the trend is already long dead
Red Beard made me think I got a hair on my screen
Me too! I am really in trouble with this and 488 pista
Remember when James went on about why a manual gearbox wouldn't fit this car?
Congrats on the new GT3. It' lit. Can't wait for more awesome content. You are awesome!!!
Love the passion you put in all of your videos! Keep it up mate :)
Oh yes yes yes. Mini JWW will have good taste in cars
Awesome car congrats James. Personally I would get a Cayman GT4 with the full Sharkwerks engine and gearbox kit, I just prefer it because it's smaller and mid engined.
But it's a Cayman 👎🏽
Fabulous commentary on the joys of a manual and the emotional connection we have with cars. One of your best!
You are honestly one of the greatest automotive UA-camrs to ever grace this scene! You cover all the content a petrol head neads. I’m so glad I subbed 3 years ago, some of the best content on the site. If your doing more future classics soon I’ve got something I’d love to see featured. I have for you a first gen Toyota gt86 TRD edition id love for you to drive, and a car I feel is a true future classic. It embodies everything about a true drivers car on a platform which is affordable to the masses. Come to Scotland and try it out on some truly epic roads! Love you mr jww and huge respect!!
Loving the idea, and manual + porsche = perfection. hope you put 100k+ on it
Just realised that i always watch your videos, but have never subscribed. You deserve more than 1M subs man. Just Subscribed. Love from South Africa
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I totally get it James. I love your Modern Classics series and what makes it better is to see the genuine joy those cars give you because of the more direct, analog feel. I had a 1980 RX-7 and that was by far the most engaging car I ever owned, especially after I installed a 5.0 engine and 5 speed from a '90 Ford Mustang. Cheers mate!
Simply perfection! Huge congratulations James!! May you experience many many happy manual shifts
Thanks very much Jorn!
Exactly how i would spec one!
Can you please do a small overview on what is actually in and out of your garage these days? Keeping track is pretty damn tough.. Stellar spec my man..
Wirenfeldt1990 why
James, you just shifted my perspective on the perfect spec for the 991 GT3. Glad you chose the manual. Like always, very fun video, great delivery, incredible attention to detail. I also love the sunglasses. Cheers
Thanks Ivan!
Thanks for this review. It's great to see a car that tic's all the boxes for practical use. Best, Allan
Congrats on the new purchase, manual GT3 and that colour 👌🏻
Keep up the great content 👍🏻
1 year ago video... Why I didn't buy a manual GT3 🤷🏻♂️
Tom W time changes
I feel the same. Oh wait, I can only afford the headlights. I will work hard and one day own this car.
Let me tell you a little secret, it’s ok to change mind.
@@joelefraimsson3939 me too bro, bought my first BMW. We'll get there
Congratulations! Great car and the right decision to go for the manual gearbox 👌🏼👌🏼
My favourite car of all time. It has it all. Nice addition to the fleet! I would have gone with a roll cage for that additional bling though. Thanks for the video!
Amazing im totally shocked. Mr JWW should be with Chris Harris on Top Gear.
What's Top Gear
Nice idea to keep it for a long long time and make memories with it, I’m the same.
Great video James, I started watch you channel when you’ve your first GT3 now you back with this great video, Cheers Mate
Beautiful example of James's ability to convey technical details in layman's terms yet big picture Brand philosophy. Thank you for all you do for the autosport community.
Good man! I'd knew you'd see sense eventually.
Lol 😂
Fun fact about the manual GT3 compared to the PDK version.
Manual one has a stronger mechanical limited slip differential.
GlassBomb It also puts more hp down at the wheels.
And a manual is slower on track
@@allensaunders449 How often do you go to a track? Such a useless excuse for having an automatic and being lazy. Autos are for GT and limos
@@odin5188 such a cliche answer by you i bet James goes on track often. In heavy traffic or stop and go freeway traffic or going really sliw i would take an auto.. I don't have to defend autos. Why bother. Nobody buys manuals even when they have a choice thats why they are a tiny segment. According to people like yourself everyone loves manuals bull shit. Ride a bike engines are for lazy people
@@allensaunders449 i agree autos are better for stop start. However I'm talking about when you want to really drive. I can only speak for myself. With a manual, you're in full control and immersed in the experience.
The only thing DCT do better is faster on a drag strip and if you do a lot of track racing. Most ppl whether they admit or not but DCT for ease of driving. Anyways as cars are going soon all will be self-driven. I like to be part of the process so I'll enjoy my manuals
This is one of the best videos i've ever seen and ticks at all the emotional boxes for me regarding the manual transmission
Yo welcome to the club! Just got mine a few weeks ago and dropping a review later today! Cheers bro
The way you talk about your car makes me run to the dealer to order a Porsche myself! 😊 I love it!!! So did you sell the Miami Blue one?
Guessing he traded it for the manual as the number plate on the blue one now sits on this one
Ferrari F12 TDF, 2x Porsche GT3, Porsche Macan Turbo... Not a bad lineup... Not at all... 👍
old gt3 carplate is on the new one so idk if it is sold or new car plate is on the old car
Best video on this channel for a long time!!! Can't wait to see more vids with this one
Now this is an awesome video! Awesome choice mate, and the potential stories with it with you and the nipper really pulled on the heart strings. Enjoy it lads.
I think I’ve lost a chapter, when did you sell your miami blue gt3?
He part exchanged it for this one.
Wasn't it a Porsche-supplied press car?
@@TheCarGuysTV No, it was his
You should talk to the guys in the US who built that manual 430 scud and try to get a drive.
Maxtrixire
Frankenstein car though. James likes proper factory spec’d or optioned stuff.
Not a Frankenstein, factory parts. Frankly it’s better due to the fact it’s the same transmission the manual 430 would’ve used. Just beefed up
A perfect perfect perfect....car!!! Wow....such an amazing simple specc👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 no wonder you went for it!!! Watched the video twice, because i loved every bit of the car. Kudos to the previous owner who specced the car❤️
Congrats james, beautiful color!!!!
I was very sad when you bought a PDK instead of manual
PDK is godlike tho.
pdk is godlike.
Pdk is actually godlike
Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe
I agree PDK is godlike but does it give you the involvement and feel of a manual?
i am m4 owner,I wish I can get own a gt3 one day but the price for me is so expensive I just started to tune my m4
Love the tech details on this James. Nicely done 👍🏻
Great car james congrats on the new edition great colour choice BTW.
As always a top vlog.
No doubt I'll catch up with you at FOS. 👍
A real man should always have a MANUAL :)
Nice car but why drive it with welding goggles on :) Look forward to seeing it on the track, dont dare crash it!
Great spec James, I'm so happy you got manual box. Look forward to watching future road trips and carbon mods, exhaust maybe?
James - I know exactly where you're coming from. The enjoyment is in driving - especially in a 911. My best car was a RS America - took a while to really learn how to drive it, but you knew everytime you got it right - even at 30mph. So satisfying. Fast cars are...fast. Great cars have ability and feedback.
Great idea with your son. My boy loved playing with cars - when he was 8 I took him for a quick drive in a F430 and Gallarda. He's 21 this year and still doesn't drive....
You have finally seen the light. Manual 991 gt3 is the best drivers car in the world.
you dont know about youtalk
So the elephant in the room..you've opted for a manual GT3, I agree fab spec, with no roll cage (they're ugly as hell) that you want to drive 'to maximum attack & to the edge on many tracks'.. surely the roll cage is protection you absolutely need in those scenarios or Porsche wouldn't even bother to option them! Is there any research on rolled GT3s (maybe from Porsche themselves) where the roll cages makes the difference, or are they (as I very much doubt) purely a racer's cosmetic option that also give a bit more stiffness to the body shell?
The cage is bolt in - not part of the chassis, doesn’t provide any more structural rigidity and adds 20kg weight. Essential for a track car for safety but this will be tracked on occasion - not all the time.
@@MrJWW OK so no rigidity lost and weight reduction a positive, but can, as one potential scenario, the roof take the weight of the car in the event of a roll over? Something that can quite easily happen if one is driving 'on the limit' at a track....just got your welfare in mind! I'm find it interesting to better understand why Porsche has so readily spec'd the roll over cage, when its so ugly and impractical..I've always assumed that it was for normal road and 'occasional' track day (what most cars would be used for) safety ..
Great ideas (the stickers from the journeys is something I may have to steal), the touching sentiment of sharing this with your son in the future and going on rides with him, eventually handing him the keys, really touched me. Beautiful ideas, wonderful car, amazing content as always. Thank you Sir
Yes yes yes....nice colour... nice spec...
looking forward to your next roadtrips....
Please share with us asap.
Good to see you back to the Porsche world
Again.
I think you are on the road to Carrera gt 😎👍
I thought the blue car was perfect, bar the PDK. I don't care for lap times, I want fun! Glad to see you went for a more fun spec :)
Amazing car but I think its time for the CGT ;)
Congratulations, sublime spec! One of my favourite recent JWW videos, only surpassed by TDF first drive.
This is such a lovely spec, Love this thing! Congratulations on an amazing GT3! With the mods you intend to do, it will be perfect 👌
Have everyone forgotten about the Carrera GT? I havent.
What does this mean for the fate of your Miami blue GT3?
Traded it in for this
i really like the idea of showing your son this car with all the stickers of great adventures. i love this video and have to say that you are the best car UA-camr ever. just the best for you and your family James.
Your quite right. I will always have a manual in the household for a bit of fun on the Twisties especially the NC500 roads 😁🤘
Congrats @mrjww James, enjoy making those memories with your boy!
Brilliant! Your plan for that extremely nice 911 sounds awesome! I look forward to seeing some of your adventures with the car.
Every man has a dream car.. This is it for me. 4.0 liter N/A flat 6 pushing out 500 horses and a manual gearbox.. Not to mention the SOUND and the absolute beauty of this car.
Proper car guy video. Love it and love the idea of stickers under the hood shared with my boys. Thank you
Beautiful Country, Beautiful Roads and Beautiful Car. I live in LOS ANGELES. Traffic is terrible here. That's why when I bought my 2016 GTS I decided to go PDK.
Congrats on your new Porsche. :)
Gorgeous piece of machine enjoy bro!!actually the sunglasses youre wearing on are very nice too jajaj wich ones are those? 🤟🏼
James,
Been a big fan of your content for years now. Love your passion and thoughtful articulation not only about these amazing machines but also from the perspective as an owner.
I am lucky enough to have a PTS manual 991.2 GT3 and it is definitely a “forever” car for me. Dual clutch supercars will come and go, but this one is a keeper.
You really ought to try the flat foot upshifts in Sport mode. Leave the throttle pedal in, clutch in, and upshift. It’s seamless and I swear the gives you a tiny spark of torque when the gear slams home. It’s unlike any other manual gearbox I’ve experienced!
Congrats on your success, NVM, and keep the amazing content rolling!
-Will
When you were talking about what you where going to do with the car and the places you want to go, I thought "Hey thats cool" but as soon as you mentioned your little boy, that got me right in the feels. It will be so incredible that you guys get to share those memories.
Congrats James.
