The Cost Of 20,000 Miles In The Porsche 991 GT3!

  • This is my Porsche 911 991 GT3 manual! A car I bought with a very long term view to the ownership - to enjoy across track days, road trips and daily driving. I'm just over 20,000 miles in now and it's about to have its next major service - so what have the costs been so far?

Supercar ownership as it should be: driving the wheels off it at every occasion AND on track, without constantly fretting over values and finance

Zishan Syed gt3 not a supercar? This thing is a mammoth on a track.....

@@simon8089 No 911 is really a supercar and that's precisely why I love them so much! I mean maybe the RSes, but as far as I'm concerned 911s are sportscars, not supercars. The Carrera GT is a supercar, the 918 is a hypercar, but the 911 is a sportscar to me. I've never fancied a supercar for myself, I admire them and drool over their looks and stats and sounds, but I would probably not own one, I'll definitely own and drive a 911! In fact, I'm kind of half seriously looking for a a GT3 Touring atm. Let me know if u know someone that wants to sell...

@@zishansyed8905why CGT and 918 are not in the same league? I thought 918 replaced the CGT. And never understood hyper/super car difference.
But agree with you about the 911.

    Awesome update James!
Still a bit curious on fuel efficiency as you only briefly touched on this. Here in the US it's poor rated(like 15/19) by the EPA so gets a hefty "gas guzzler tax". 🙄 But as all my cars unless driven hard typically exceed these ratings 3-4 mpg I'm real curious if the GT3 does same? That is when you can resist temptation to drop your right foot into that glorious engine! 😂😂😂
Can you say what is best Hwy mpg you've seen indicated at say a steady 75 mph(more applicable here in the US) & even the 120 headed to the Ring? And an avg City mpg?
Also, any oil consumption worth noting?
Anxious for your update on what the "big service" is - thank goodness no timing belt & supposedly valves never need adjustment! Love that crayon GT3, enjoy!

Great vid as per.... as for the solenoids and butterfly valves in the exhausts of all Porsches, known issue. If you have control over it, don't just whack it into 'Sports / Chrono' mode and drive with it on/open all the time. I did this, then one TD where I had to drive without SC on (due to noise restrictions) and one of the solenoids failed on track. Porsche wanted to sell me a new exhaust and Indys didn't want to know either. Luckily I have a handy mate and his workshop. Moral of the story, use your exhaust in both modes if you can determine the setting, this will keep up the ranges. I used to regularly spray a bit of WD40 over the parts (solenoid/arms/ball joints/pivots) to try and keep things clean. They go through a lot what with heat and their position on the car.

Couple of questions: 1) how’s it to drive in stop and go traffic? 2) if you had touring instead of wing, wouldn’t you have less downforce for track use? I know gt3T has underbody spoiler but I’m not sure if that’s best for track use due to lack of downforce?

Make a video showing the current garage. With all the cars together, if possible. Would be very interested in that. Keep up the awesome contet.
