Yep we thought we'd escaped it too. That said rural farm burglaries aren't uncommon as it's, so quiet and often farmers, are rarely on they're land...
Unfortunately, in this day and age, it is necessary to install deterrents to burglars.
I have been burgled twice. So glad my young son and I were not home at the time.

You have done a lovely job building the gate. Glad that you have secured the entrance to your property and put in cameras. I am so sorry that burglaries are occurring in your area. It is probably the same gang going from property to property, and I hope they are caught soon.

What a shame that thieves have decided to chance their arm with off grid properties. It just goes to show that they want to take from folk that just get by, with hard work and ingenuity and see anything with a value. Cost time and effort on your part to try stopping them, so if more off grid folk do this, then they may see that it's too much hassle and go back to the towns for their pickings. Great video and here's hoping that this will be successful.
Yep I think it's common for them to prey on farm buildings especially as its, so rural... But certainly a pain and does, detract from some of the joy of being off grid but sadly part of life often these days
There's a reason why people tend to form villages. Though neighbours can be annoying, they can also give you additional protection.

Clear a large area in front of the gate as a designated killzone with manned watchtowers. A few 'Achtung - Minen' signs will help. Tripwires too, rigged with (blank!) 12 guage shotgun shells. Sunken pits with sharpened stakes might be touch too far. Seriously though, good luck with it you've built up a lot of value in the Wildlands. Defend at all costs!

Gate diagonals should be from top outer to bottom hinge. This puts the weight of the gate onto the bottom hinge point rather than pulling away from the top hinge.

Thanks for the early access. You could in addition to this add an extra deterrent level by installing a hinged raised and locked when raised bollard, either in front of or behind the gates to further delay the scumbags. It would need a slit trench to make it level with the ground when down, and a concreted hole for it to drop into when vertical. I am sure the design would be straightforward for you resourceful types!
Morning John, that is, a good idea, we like it and one for the pot of future jobs! We plan to finish the gate ironwork and we've now, also got housewrap and Cladding for the cabin, so that's our next job 🤘

Who is doing the thieving ? Locals? I doubt it.
No probably professionals or regular crooks traveling around the rural areas.
You mention a year long data sim,can you tell me which provider and how expensive that was please. Really need similar on parts of my land wifi doesnt get to.❤❤❤
Hi it's for the camera so it's eiot rather than data for WiFi. However think they have data, sims to. Or Vodafone Portugal do a, dim in a router with unlimited data
On the first security film you showed us, one could not see the liscense plates because of the cars head lights, Does that mean you need to turn down the intensity of the camera? and if so, will you stil be able to see the people? On another note, I think you wil find that your cross bar is too low. There are many caravans that will not be able to pass under it.
Yep you're right, we've adjusted it now. Caravans cant get down our track but if friends are coming in a camper van we can remove the height barrier

Usually outsiders, that travel around rural areas. Hit loads of places then move on.... 🙄
Thanks, stay safe. It may be worth setting up a neighbourhood watch scheme with others in the area and putting up a notice to that effect. I also notice that properties for sale never have exact locations, is this a reason?
We all have cameras now and speak via watsap if and when there may be undesirables in the area!
