i would like to point out that “toothpaste, 1.69” is the ONLY cornley production that has gone from beginning to end without ANYTHING going wrong. this, by extension, proves that dennis is the best director and should henceforth lead the society.
Absolutely. You make a very good point love that
The special effect explosion went off at the wrong time
@@that_one_guy_you_walk_past ?
@@whatlenalikes1674 not really didn't remember the title of the play
Wrong paper confused with shopping receipt and also special effect too late
@@romainsavioz5466 I actually think the special effect went off when it was supposed to. They didn't seem surprised when it went off, plus it didn't seem to fit anywhere else. So I get the feeling that was the right time
That being said, the rest of what you say is true
“Medically fascinating” is such a great line
I always liked the fact he seems to know everyone else’s lines better than his own.
Especially in the court episode when everyone gets mixed and he starts saying his wife's lines
That's realistic though
I have a friend like this, knows everyone else’s lines but their own
it kind of makes sense though, because after rehearsals you've heard everyone else say their lines over and over but you have to think of your lines yourself
its happened to me in theater at least lol
@@AnimeLover930 That was annoyingly the case for me in school as well. I was 3-4 background characters. Barely managed to learn my own lines. When I was a waiter, I held a menu... with my lines. However, because I was a good friend with most of the cast. I would sometimes read dialogues with them and those got more stuck in my head. By the time we would have our shows, I knew almost every line in that damn script. We were doing RENT.
It turned out more or less good in the end. Because someone seemed to have picked up my lines so I was a understudy for most of the characters while my roles could be picked up by other ensemble people.
Moral of the stoy. Learn everyone's lines. You might become a great understudy lol.
He can't remember his lines but he can improvise a filthy medieval ballad.
Yup. The filthy mediaeval ballad is trouser-wettingly hilarious, but I think it's far beyond Dennis's mental capacity to come up with something like that.
"Medically fascinating."
- Robert
Fun fact! Dennis's improvised court ballad was actually more accurate to actual medieval jester songs than Bonny Peggy Ramsey
"INCOMMPETENTENTENTE" BROKE ME
THE WAY HE SAID IT LMAO
Then he spells it as the spelling bee!
Best line of the series
When he starts spelling Vanessa looks proud then gets increasingly more concerned the longer he spells
I just now noticed thank you !
"Medically fascinating." is one of the funniest roasts I've ever heard, it's the deadpan delivery that does it for me
I love how they try to put Dennis in roles where he can do the least damage, but he ends up causing twice as much damage, lol! Dennis blunders, but is still lovable, sympathetic and relatable.
Even as an inaimate object like a telegraph machine or a hunting trophy. They cast him in a wheelchair in both "90 degrees" and "Summer Once Again" so that he doesn't have to worry about stage directions (since all his entrances and exits are controlled by whoever is pushing the wheelchair), but he still manages to mess it up
The “GET OUUUUUT” call back always cracks me up
That “bird sweeps in! Rmmmm rimimrimrim!” moment is a fantastic example of how the mistakes gradually pile up more and more until the end of the episode where things fall apart completely.
I originally thought he was gonna say 'sweeps the floor with them' and brings a second broom
I love how this mistake doesnt stop the scene he just do the aprt and keeps going to me this are the best jokes
Can't believe there isn't his delivery of "Yes" when they ask the first innkeeper/wise man if there is room at the Inn
"Yes." "..........Okay."
0:52 "You're an innkeeper now, Switch Onnn!" Doesn't get as much love as it should. You can totally see Chris Down that hand gesture behind the scenes.
The jester song is honestly fantastic with him making it up on the spot in light of all the other ridiculous things he does
Also i love that despite his incompetence (or incompententententenence if you asked him probably), they keep him in the company and give him important roles
It's a character he doesn't actually do that it's quite clever how it works :) so they are characters playing characters in the story.
@@Midsussexrailway No, I know that! I meant in the context of the story lol
@@solidcoffee1643 After all they are short of budget if even brookshaw corporal finance decides to stay out of this lol
His Aunt(?) finances some of the productions. That's why he gets the lead in the courtroom drama
He actually said 2 Ms
In moments of silence, I'll make the same gesture as Dennis as I yell "You're an innkeeper now, switch on!!"
There’s no room in the INN!

“Though I’m gone I’m always hard!”

“That’s not the line.”
I love the way Dennis gives an exasperated look in the background after Robert says that
The callback to The Lodge literally killed me
2:13
The one time they did a show in which nothing went wrong, and it was written by Dennis
My favorite Dennis moment in Series 2 is him running full force into the window in Annie’s farce while yelling “Incompetent”
0:33 is my favorite scene out of the entire series. The fact that it was written in front of Dennis plus Robert saying "Medically Fascinating" absolutely had me in stitches. I keep replaying it cuz it's truly peak humor
My headcanon is that he's either the son or nephew of someone funding the theatre group or the studio owner. The frustration from everyone else is compounded by the fact that they have to give him a part.
That's Max's backstory
@@MegaKnight2012 Just checked the wiki. His aunt runs the BBC? That explains a lot.
My headcanon is he can remember everyone links except his own and he helps a lot to make the production and is a loveable guy in general
We actually learn in 90 Degrees that Dennis’s dad builds cheap sets for the show, that’s probably why they keep him around
@@EmmaTheTheatreKidThe promo materials for “A Trial to Watch” claimed that Dennis got the lead role after Chris had a conversation with Dennis’ grandmother that “turned out to be legally binding,” so apparently Dennis has an influential family. (That, or they’re just really underhanded lawyers. 😜)
“No. get out!”
“GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT”
well… at least he finally got it right
With _exactly_ the right instruction, I feel that Dennis could do wonders. HIs ability to perfectly fudge his lines is unmatched by near anyone.
The real question is this....will Dennis marry Vanessa? Possibly a double wedding with Max and Sondra?
The double wedding rehearsal that goes wrong
The wedding that goes wrong sounds good 😆
Sondra?? Haha
Aren't Max and Sandra already married? Or thier actors are anyway?
@@disneylover6408 SPOILER ALERT
They got engaged at the end of Christmas Carol.
Don't know if they ever married but the way Sandra handles Max's horseplay in "The Trial" (when he tries to "help" her carry out a postmortem on him) do suggest they are still very close.
The whole halo scene has had me cracking up at work so much.
When he said it's the first time he ever felt happy, I would've married him right then and there.
Well, that would rescue Vanessa from her predicament
In Nativity Dennis acted like if he never heard of the whole Nativity story when he was a kid.
That can be how modern Anglican Sunday school works
"Medically fascinating."
Well...he's not wrong.
"Is it me you're looking for?" LMAO 🤣
"Incommpetententente"
- Henry Lewis (2021)
Really hoping they continue on with the potential fallout from the wedding!
5:04 I don't think I could possibly deliver this line without corpsing.
the main lesson here: never ever let dennis improvise
"Halo! Halo!"
"Is it me you're looking for?"
I must have been laughing too hard the first time I watched this season because that was one of my favorite songs as a kid in the 80s and I just now got that.
5:11
We only need a clip of Dennis crashing at the window yelling "Incompetent!"
0:40 "Medically fascinating"
get inn get out has gotta be one of the greatest callbacks ive ever seen. genuinely started cackling
I would love to watch an episode of "The Goes Wrong Show" where they conduct a "medically fascinating" study with Dennis as the subject.
I love the call back to the get out joke because it fits so well in the context

Eric the Jester had to be the funniest thing about Series 2 😆
1:19 I know this is a Dennis compilation but that's my favorite delivery in the whole video 😂
I am an Idiot who is also wise... and a Shepard.
Honestly the first half of that quote is almost profound. Then there's the other bit.

0:57, I just enjoy seeing this as you can see Vanessa going: WTF
His whole brain is the “who’s on first” bit
The whole Inn scene had me in tears with laughter 😂
"Medically fascinating" me too Dennis me too ✋️
I always though Chris is the director of" The Goes Wrong Show Series "until I learn that the actor who playey Dennis is really the writer , diractor and producer all along.
The actor for Dennis, Jonathan Sayer, writes the plays with two other ppl who are the actors for Robert and Chris (Henry Lewis and Henry Shields). They’re cowriters.
I have a problem with Mischief Comedy. A scene that should last 10 minutes takes me at least half an hour to watch. I have to pause it times and times again, regain some kind of composure, wipe my eyes, get my breath back and start again. It's very undignified and time consuming 🤣😉
To anyone wanting to watch it for the first time, take a tip: don't, whatever you do, drink or eat while watching this show! Very, very dangerous.
agreed! i made the mistake of taking a sip of water during "though i'm gone, i'm always hard" and it almost made me choke 😂

Just choked watching this... at the Jesters song

He really got hit by a bad case of Flanderization this season. He started at Cornley only slightly dumb and now he barely functions. Hopefully Vanessa can help him regain some intelligence once they marry 😂
He needed a headset to remember all his lines in Peter Pan.
@@Circuitssmith and The Lodge was season 1! Plus you need some chops to improvise that song. I think Dennis just paradoxically gets more confused the simpler his task is and the more times he has to repeat it.
@@andsailedcalmlyon Honestly sometimes that’s how brains are. Simple tasks are baffling but a bit more complexity and it makes perfect sense
He can remember Chris's lines as Hook but he has trouble remembering his own.
I’m not so sure about that. He’s clearly incapable of remembering any of his lines and prone to shouting ridiculous nonsense in A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, too.
5:30 i love how chris cries in that moment
Je was sprayed with tear gas by Robert
i just want to give dennis a hug every time he's on screen
Medically Fascinating
“…Medically fascinating”
In The Cornley Drama Festival Part 1 was Vanessa really serious about accepting Dennis's proposal to marry him even though they were supposed to be acting during performance because he though they were planning to get married soon😄😆😂.
You've got it wrong way round. Vanessa, in her improvisation session, acted out a proposal to Dennis. Dennis didn't understand she was acting, and went off and booked a venue, (paying the deposit with Vanessa's credit card!). Dennis's last line is "I think this is the first time I've ever been happy". He will be heartbroken when he realises "Join-me-in-fiction" Vanessa didn't mean it.
5:22 - 5:30 For ever and ever, *Amen*

I think I like Venessa so much for how much she hates Dennis

I would've loved a side plot with Dennis being in love with Vanessa, who is constantly patient with him.
Similar to Max and Sandra.

Mischief Movie Night In after The Goes Wrong Show is too weird. Jonathan Sayer/Oscar has Dennis' face, but Harry Kershaw has his hilarity. "12 years training that man!"
