Cant wait to see your put the motor together i did my first little build a while back was a 5.3 off of a tahoe it got bored 0.40 over and went with some 4032 flattop valve relief style pistos and i would say it went well i ran the stock cam for about 3k to 4k miles then did a cam swap with upgraded valve springs and was suprised that the boring hatch marks where still visible (not sure how long it takes for a motor to break in) what i found online was to change my oil 3 times at 300 500 miles and after that i could go to regular engine oil changes..... not sure tho long story short i would say it went well for my first timei hope it goes well for you as well cant wait till you get to putting your engine together!!!!
The heads have been ported that is good if it was done professionally and the block is only a 2 bolt main block so it is not as strong as 4 bolt block so I wouldn't build it too radically. Always enjoy your videos you are so upbeat its great.
Doris, the cam drive gears in your engine are fairly common in race engines and are mostly make by a company called Pete Jackson Gear Drive. They are noisy, though. The crankshaft will need to be checked for diameter, to see if it's been turned already. If it's OK, maybe a polish will make it serviceable. The studs in the block are upgraded from bolts and are made by ARP. They're made out of much stronger material, to hold the rotating assembly in place. It looks as though the engine has lots of good parts in it.
That engine was rebuilt for racing, but the oil pump was no upgraded to keep up with high rpms, hence the wearon the crankshaft. Turn it to a 383 stroker cause I know you are gonna race it, and high volume oil pump.
Your learning a lot. Here's some tips. Hot tank the block. Get the crank polished and balanced. If the cam has too much scoring, replace it. Thats a gear drive instead of a timing chain. More efficient but tricky to install. Replace the rings and hot tank the rod/piston assemblies. The main thing when building an engine: Clean, Clean and Clean. That rod bearing sent pieces everywhere so look for scoring on any metal surface. Also, if the cylinder walls are measuring good, just hone it. Otherwise you may have to bore them out.
Chevy made 2 performance heads back in the day they were called Camel hump heads because the casting had 2 humps in front that looks like camel humps. The more desired one has the 2.02 intake valves also know as fuely heads. Thay also mad 1 with a 1.94 intake valve. Block is a 2 bolt mane a 4 bolt main is more desirable. You have a gear drive cam gear that makes the winning sound. The crank should be checked and polished for new bearings. Check cam bearings inside engine for scoring and replace if needed. Block needs honed and pistons look ok. Make sure everything is well lubed on assembly and use a break in oil .
The gears in place of the timing chain is aftermarket. It's called a gear drive. They are loud, kind of sound like a blower whine, and the send awful harmonics through the valve train. Which is very hard on valve springs especially. Some people like them I, for one, do not.
That crank is likely going to need to be turned. That camshaft will have identification info on one or both ends. ie: part number manufacturer name etc. A machine shop will need to be involved before you reassemble this engine.
Doris i think you are doing awesome on these rebuilds. Its a learning curve, but once you get it right you will do more of them. BTW i could never where white anymore for any job especially engine work. 🤣🤣❤️❤️
Those rides are sexy!!! The blue stripes sets that Mustang off. It's great to see women get into wrenching. I am doing a Ls3 swap. It's a project with my grandkids. Even my 12 year old granddaughter wants to learn. The gear drive is aftermarket and has a tendency to strip the smaller gears with higher horse applications. And they are really noisy. Mujer muy bonita!!!
It's called a gear drive, the extra gears you found. Takes the place of a timing set, also the gear drive gives it like a whining sound.
That's only if it's machined into it. Otherwise it's quite.

You’re beautiful and have some really nice cars!!!! Keep it up
That's irrelevant, she has an onlyfans...
Doris thanks for the update. Looking forward seeing you assemble an engine
Straight cut timing gears nice seems quite serviceable my old 302 Windsor needed 8 sleeves
The gold anodized bar is the rocker arm stud girdle to minimize valve train flex😁.

ARP studs are common- especially on a small block Chevy.
Great video Doris. We all know you'll go Big Block in the Camaro 😁
Would recommend taking all the parts to a mechanic shop for a full check and clean. Just to be safe.
Hi Doris I'm Vaughan from Australia nice to see you again my friend
Get rid of that gear drive and go back to timing chain
That shiny copper on the rod bearing s is from revving the hell outta it
Wait till you pick up a BB crank (BBC😅) Junk the cast crank and get a stroker.....
Looks like you been putting in a lot of time at the gym Doris. Great shape you look!

You will do just fine on the first time and good luck to you ❤
Yeah you need to rebuild them yourself 👍👌 That way you will know what you got and if you mess up you will learn what happened ,, Cool 😎 👍👌
Yet another video with a Beautiful Woman.. Have a Wonderful day
Thank you sweetheart ❤
I would polish the crank and check for size differences
