The Elantra N is so impressive. My brother in law has a stock 2025 Mustang GT and he lost to a slightly modified Elantra N on a track last weekend. In fact, the Elantra N beat just about everyone on the track that day. It’s such an impressive performance sedan.

Okay, come on guys, this ain't fair at all. Driver experience nothwithstanding, the Type R has way wider tires (275 vs 245)-- that's a huge advantage even before the power mods, suspension mods, etc.. Don't sell yourself or the Elantra N short Sungzilla! Fantastic performance. See the Savage Geese video comparing a stock FL5 type R to a stock Elantra N (both manual) on the same tires, same driver, same track, same day and the lap times are within 1/10 of second of each other.

EN driver with less track experience and less time on that track vs CTR driver with more track experience and more time on that track, I love both cars but it would've gotten real close had both had similar mods and driver experience, also just the tune alone 325HP can make a difference, on the EN just adding 5PSI makes a difference with 300-320WHP as opposed to stock.
Nonetheless it was a good race, you can see the performance of these cars, the EN definitely best bang for your buck at $35K~ MSRP, even with the GRC coming to MSRP its $40-45K (not counting core edition) and CTR if you can find them at MSRP starting $45K.

@@jpizel1070 oh you made another good point, technically the EN DCT driver is at a disadvantage then because if you watch the video he uses paddle shifters (extended shifters on the mods list), DCT is quick but if you use the paddles it has a slight response delay, its good but not porsche lightning speed, the advantage the EN driver does have is he can keep two hands on the wheel for more stability rather than rowing the gears.. but again the DCT in manual mode is not as responsive as people would think, in this case if the Elantra driver had MT, tune, and larger tires he wouldve won

Yesterday I finally had the chance to catch a Civic Type-R on the freeway and after I smashed it looked like a Type-Awwwww :( I have never lost to a GTI and I don't think a FBO GTI can keep up with my tuned Elantra N. The car is amazing for the price. The Type R is a great car, but the history and ethos of the car means nothing today. Hyundai really stepped it up and I chose it over the R bc of the car-scalping stealership mark-ups. After they are done marking the price up, even the Civic SI was 35k! I got my Elantra N for 34k so they made the choice easy for me. The car is halfway paid off after a year of ownership and if I financed the R I would still be paying primarily on interest and modifying the bank's car.

The Elantra N has also won a ton of awards. It won performance car of the year top 10 finalist, same award as the type r.
Obviously the type r gets more coverage, it's a more popular car with more heritage. But your statement that it's beaten the N brand in every single review is hilarious. It's objectively untrue, literally lost to it in road and tracks performance car of the year.
This is a classic example of an actual tard with insane confirmation bias. Yes the type r has won a bunch of awards, so has the EN. Just because you don't go around watching EN reviews doesnt mean that it doesn't win awards lmao. Road and track and car and driver had both the EN and type r as top 10 finalists for pcoty. Litterally won the same award lmfao.
Also, never been a fan of the "can't compare dct to manual" argument. The dct is extremely track capable, yes it's faster than a manual. But Honda literally couldn't afford to spend any development budget on an automatic,
People are really complaining the dct is unfair to compare against when the Elantra N is half the price of the type r and Honda couldn't even develop a performance automatic lmao.
Complaining about auto is hilarious. It's like complaining that the WRX has AWD. The dct Elantra N is still half the price of a type r after markup. Not Hyundai's fault Honda put 100% of their development budget into a manual type r.
Everyone gets to choose which transmission they want. If you pick the slower car with the slower transmission, live with it being slower lmao. You choose a manual for drivers engagement, if the car ends up slower for it, it's a slower car.
Also please educate yourself before trying to speak on things you know nothing about. You're leaking out of your ass. TCR is super related to production cars. Stock engines are used, stock internals. The chassis and engine need to come from a production car. There's a reason TCR has been such a big point for Honda in the past, theyre production road cars turned into race cars lmao. Nothing like using a Honda engine in a red bull car lmfao.
It's actually hilarious. Honda fan boys say the type r is the best because of TCR. Then when they lose TCR, TCR no longer matters lmfao.

Guys we heard it here, the definitive metric of a good car is that it's sold in south africa. LMAO.
The TCR car is an extremely good reflection of a production car. Stop talking about shit you have no clue about, you look like an idiot. It's a class where you need to use a stock production motor, bigger turbos are fine but stock internals and the engine cannot be opened up. It uses a stock production chassis, it's litterally just motorsports bolt ons and a sequential gear box.
There's a reason TCR is brought up. Honda dominated it for years. It's a very valid achievement. Honda fans claim TCR is so important and as soon as they lose it's no longer valid? It's litterally the most prestigious FWD race class, and it's a very good reflection of a car's capability with motorsports mods made equal.
What do you know about TCR to say it doesn't count? You don't know anything. You probably haven't ever even tracked your car lmao.
No one said you shouldn't enjoy your type r. You're literally out here tweaking that people don't like your $60k civic lmao. All I said was that it was funny that the owner brought up TCR when they've literally never been able to beat the TCR elantra N.
The elantra N also won a ton of awards. It won the same awards as the type R. Top 10 PCOTY from both road and track and car and driver, same award that the type r won lmao. Just because you don't watch elantra N reviews doesn't mean that it doesn't win awards, it just means that you're dumb enough to go around speaking on things that you know nothing about.
I love the type r. I just think it's overpriced as shit and a terrible value. Not debating that in stock form it isn't faster than a manual elantra N, it definitely is across most tracks. But it accomplishes it by being unpractical stiff (unlike the fk8 that was a good balance) and wide ass tires. The car hasn't even actually seen much improvement since the fk8, and an fk8 on the same tire and coilovers is just as fast.
It's hilarious though, people that actually track their cars have a ton of respect for both cars, meanwhile people like you that can barely read throw all seasons on and go grocery shopping and use car and driver reviews as their benchmarks.
All I did was point out it was funny to use TCR to say the type r is better when it's lost every year to the elantra N in tcr.

Might as well argue that any modern manual that has synchros, Rev matching, and electronics doesn't count either. Which is literally every manual car now. They're not purely mechanical and easier to clutch than older cars.

The shear arrogance on you lot, thinking you can gatekeep cars just because you like pushing on a clutch and playing with a stick all day. A DCT removes one of the most important and skillful driver inputs and electronic aids take over the driver input and numb the feedback. The nurburgring lap record is impressive to NPCs like you that have never tracked their cars. It was a full blown race car, on proper track tires, stripped and caged. Yes it's a good time, but tires alone will make a huge difference when you're comparing those times to other STOCK production cars.
A tire like a ps4s will overheat to failure on a single hot lap on heavy high power cars like these. Considering nurburgring laptimes are near 8 minutes, changing tires alone makes an absolute world of a difference. For context, most tracks are 1-2minute laps, and a normal street tire overheats and chunks with a fast driver behind the wheel.
