This version I have been looking for for years, I think it was recorded by a some French-Canadian brothers, but one day the video was gone. Thanks for sharing it again. As an American with Metis ancestry on my mother's side, from Wisconsin, and Canada, I'm glad to hear this.
Same! I used to listen to the video with the painting images of fur trappers rowing titled something like "French Canadian Chanson- A La Claire Fotaine" since 2014. I'm so glad to have found this version again! :)
Quite true. Difficult to find - even for a French - a proper recorded version of this song. This one is indeed remarkable. Congrats. I also love the one of Genevoise : ua-cam.com/video/3J3iOj5iKpQ/v-deo.html In any case : Bravo et merci for this valuable contribution.
there is no real anthem at the time, but it was a very popular song for the canadians and this song became one icon of canadians (the originals canadians)
Best version of this song ever, and my husband agrees who is from Reims....I’m from Seattle so as a norwesterner I love folk music. This fiddle playing and just the whole composition and singing is just superb ❤️
My dad(Manuel Dauvin who played and sung this version with his brother) will be putting it up on Spotify again. I don't know why it disappeared in the first place!
@@aviladauvin Glad to hear it. I heard this beautiful rendition last year and was sad to see it gone from much of the internet. I feared I'd never be able to hear it again, but finding this video was a relief. Knowing that your dad is putting it back on Spotify is another relief. Your dad and uncle are both very talented men, and should be very proud of their work.
@@aviladauvin is there a way we can buy an album or get their band name? I’m a Seattleite who relocated to France to be with my husband and we both just adore this version. In France it’s always a kids song and this version is just so beautiful, real art and we both just love folk music. They seriously should go on a tour or play festivals here, the French would love it, find it charmant. We have the Django Reinhardt festival every year in Fontainebleau where we live and there are many bands from around that perform.
perfect example of what half-cadence (demi cadence) brings to music: it s the main difference with all the other versions, and I agree with you all: best on youtube!
I have a playlist of tunes that Luc Dauvin and his brother Manual Dauvin performed in Oregon 2014 ua-cam.com/play/PL4mHurdjsemlsApnvGncDBAdPcTQ9Ce5I.html

Se moquer? Non. Les Canadiens Français déploraient grandement l'abandon par la mère patrie. Ils eurent préféré que la rose reste au rosier, si tu saisis l'allégorie.

THE BEST version of this incredibly beautiful song on the internet. Took me forever to find it again after years ago listening

Ce sont des Canadiens qui chantent, on dirait...bon c'est.une chanson canadienne...
Merci pour cette délicieuse version, l'une des plus belles que je connaisse. Elle a malheureusement disparu de Spotify.

@@aviladauvin I hope they will put it on youtube also or sell the cds again! The album is so good and I have sorely missed it.
@@niqaliaevans5004 Still hoping to get an answer to that... :(
Heard a beautiful arrangement of this song for the first time playing civilisation IV. Now find myself here and listening to it with lyrics is lovely.
Absolutely stunning rendition of this song - by far my favourite that I’ve ever come across. Bravo!
After so much time, I can finally listed to it again. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this. I listen to this while I write my novel and I was afraid I lost it forever

Beautiful version
perfect ending of the painted veil
Will never forgive Spotify for taking out this album.
HAs anyone found if this has been uploaded to spotify again? Would love to see it there!

boonnn !!!

Call 988 if you need help. I love whoever is reading this. Although, we can't always see the good, we can try to find it. Stay strong family.
