Yeah and make you pay out he nose to get it. $350 for a rebuild? Leather and manhours are expensive but not THAT expensive. I could buy multiple full hides for $300. I'm sure they could sell these boots for two thirds of what they do and still be in the green.
@@benningsniper9516 That's what they are charging you for, I can't request "hey could you just charge me for the materials and not the inflated man hours?'". You absolute moron. It takes roughly $50 of leather for the boot and I've seen how long it takes to make one. I think they are making a killing. Maybe not, I could be wrong. But that's how it looks to me.
I think that people are missing a pretty important point when they are bashing on Wolverine for these boots in the chat. Price. You can buy at least two pairs of Wolverine 1000 miles (3 if you find a good sale) for the price of one pair of Nick’s boots. OF COURSE the Nick’s boots should be better (and they are). For the price bracket they compete in, I think that the construction and materials on the Wolverine’s are fine. I think that Wolverine should be commended for still building well constructed boots here in the US, rather than selling on name alone.
Your kidding me. How is it possible for me , buying another pair of boots than Nicks after watching this clip? Love your brand, best wishes from Germany.
Amazing idea and craftsmanship. I just ordered my first ever Nick's boots a few weeks ago and I'm so excited for them to arrive. I love your shoes and I'm grateful for your very helpful UA-cam channel 🙏
Badass! I'm a retired union ironworker. If the was still working I would have to get some of Nick's boots. Here in Arizona I'm now a tennis shoe, flip flop, sandal kind of guy. Lol
Those are some serious upgrades. Even though that stitch down construction is incredibly rugged and utilitarian, if this was my pair of boots, I probably would have kept the welted construction method, just for ease of many future resoles. They look great though. It's always very satisfying to see boots get upgrades when they are recrafted. I'm planning on upgrading my 1000 Mile Boots when the time comes.
Awesome videos from Nicks…! I have a pair of 1000 mile boots but not built like the ones Nicks rebuilt here like the “Rock of Gibraltar”..! Love to watch Nicks skilled, expert artisans work on these boots… These guys and girls are all American bad asses…! Love it! G2… IN
Absolutely love my 1000 miles. First boot that I've ever bought that I can take to a cobbler and they don't tell me it's not worth it or kinda impossible to fix them because of cemented construction nonsense. Great video! Hope to get some Nicks boots someday
Excellent and extremely extremely impressive. Masterful Rebuilding to far better boot with all the upgrades. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🥳🥳🥳🥳 The should really enjoy them 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
😲 "Iconic Rebuilds" will become a serie❓ If so, may I suggest some iconic boots to rebuild : Alden Indy, Trickers Stow, Redwing Iron Ranger, R.M. Williams Gardener...
I was gonna say at some point you might as well get a new pair but these boots ended up better than new. You couldn't buy those boots new if you wanted to. Great video, there is something satisfying watching true professionals apply there craft.
If I could afford Nicks I would love to buy a pair of those….. great video.! lovely neat pair of boots made with proper materials… great idea for a video…
They look great. My only complaint is that Vibram sole will wear down at pretty much the same rate as a normal 1000-mile boot. With converting them to stitch down they're going to be a pain in the rear end to get your local cobbler to resole them again. I would have rather kept the goodyear welted design
That’s awesome. I didn’t know you work on other boots. I would love my iron rangers to fit like my Builder Pros and ND1s. I have to put 8-9 oz vegtan in them just to make them almost fit with super thick socks. The issue is I have a 10.5C. Or 10C in my Nicks. I wonder if your companies skill could somehow make them a bit more narrow or build up the insole or something.
I'm sorry but at the time we do not rebuild boots that are not originally made by Nicks. The boots in the video are an exception that was made for one of our employees... Our lead times are already quite long, and adding other rebuilds would stretch that to crazy lengths
The Wolverine 1000 Mile is a relatively light weight boot for walking around city streets, offices, residences etc... Nick's boots are heavy weight boots designed for outdoor work and, or, off road hiking. I own both Wolverine 1000 MIle and Nick's Boots and don't consider one "better" than the other.
Obviously entertaining to watch and I loved seeing all the leatherwork - but these were Goodyear welted and are now a stitchdown construction from what I can see. What led to that decision?
Guess they don't want to retain the fabric gemming, damn thing comes apart. Nick's does a stitchdown constructed on all their boots and they hold up very well. There are positives and negatives to both forms of construction.
I bought a pair of Red Wings like these. After months of daily use, the sole remained very hard and very stiff. the interior is too hard. These boots are very uncomfortable. the worst investment i have ever made in expensive shoes
I recently bought a pair of Urban Drifters. Love your boots!! Any models that might be coming out that are not as rugged. More business casual, navy blue blazer oriented, like a 1000 mile might be? A Nick’s version of that?
Great video. Assuming those are Nicks Leather Masters (Mr. N) Wolverines? Would explain why he opens and closes vid and Nicks only rebuilds there own boots. Entertaining thanx
@@zrnagle that would depend on the boot. Iron rangers are about 400 in store right now, and there's no leather midsole. If my IRs needed a resole, I would definitely have this done vs buying new boots, and I'd have a better boot than I bought brand new. Now, if you have a ctappy boot like ariat or something, then I don't see the point.
Its roughly the retail cost of a new pair of wolverine 1000 mile boots ($300-$350). To be fair though, the rebuilt Nicks 1000 mile is a far superior product to the stock 1000 mile. Its a bit like comparing a stock car to a NASCAR track vehicle.
Beautiful rebuild but it should be renamed the 50 Miler because there's's only 5% of the original boot left! 😂 Wish I'd bought some Builder Pros when my size was in stock in the ready to ship. 🥾🥾🤩👍
That wasn’t a rebuild, that is a brand new pair of custom boots. Great looking boot that will last this guy a heck of a lot longer than that pair of Wolverines he had.
I love my Nick's 6in Moc Toe boots, with the exception of one thing, the 1/4 in thick midsole. The midsoles are so thick I developed plantar fasciitis on both my feet and bone spurs on both my heels trying to muscle that boot to bend during the break-in process. I've never felt pain like that in my life and had to go to the Dr. to find out what was wrong with me. I told my cobbler about my purchase and before I said anything about my problems he said to me, "the midsole gives many people problems and if you want bring them in and I can remove the slab of leather and resole them." After I got em' back, they fit like sneakers. I stopped wearing them until I got lucky enough to have my cobbler know and recommend this fix out of the blue, otherwise they sight still be collecting dust still.
Love how Nick's solution to most of the rebuilt parts was leather, more leather, and even more leather
Gotta use our favorite material)) And it breaks in so much better than inorganic materials
@Nicks Handmade Boots I wasn't complaining- I'm here for it! 🤌🏽

Wow! It's like rebuilding a house that has burnt to the ground, then using better materials! The Wolverine's been "Falconized!"
Love to see you do that to a pair of Doc Martin's. With a honey vibram sole.
yeah i have a pair i would send in for that.
Still wouldn't be as good as a Nick's rework.
Great upgrade. He made brand new boots!!
Jesus . You basically build a brand new pair of boots . Beautiful. Now I want a pair of Nick's Boots .
Pure craftsmanship
Look at those hand-cut vamps!
Great video! Can’t wait for the next episode!
This Wolverine will last another 10000 miles ❤
*Nicks-i-fied* ... making them 100,000K Mile Boots! 💚💛❤👊
Absolutely amazing!
Awesome video! I can’t wait to see more like this with other well-known boots.
Wow this was a pleasure to watch
Beautiful.... I'm still contemplating the double welt stitch. To me, it makes the boot less dressy....
no welt there in the rebuild. Just Sole. I do agree it doesn't look as dressy but reinforce stitching increases the boots' lifespan.

I’d check out Nicks Heritage collection.
Chapeau à vous, du grand art !!!

I didn’t notice any welt being added to the boots though…honestly it looks like a much better rugged and well finished boot…
No welting! We use a stitch-down method instead which we believe is stronger and longer lasting (also allows us to rebuild)
You should do a pair of Corcoran Jump Boots next
