For me Eric Embry was the greatest heal to ever live!!! I’ve never hated a wrestler in my life as much as him and his I’m from Texas angle lol……..and I was a kid. He had me glued to that tv every week. White heat ! There will never be anything like him again. MJF is the only thing close these days but with the way wrestling has changed it’s just not possible to create the atmosphere Embry created. Thank you for this interview Steve. You’re a hell of a wrestler yourself with much to be proud of. Kept it old school .
Believe it or not, Embry electrified World Class. He was more real than the myth of the Von Erich’s except David. He could talk and he knew ring psychology as well as any of the greats. And the Texas fans loved him as a face and hated him as a heel. Wished his career had lasted longer.
I was sucked into this interview in the first minute when Eric said he learned to love wrestling from his grandmother on his mother's side. I had the same thing happen to me when I was six or seven years old. My grandparents would come to our house for supper every Saturday night. We had to be finished eating by six pm so she could pull the rocking chair close to the tv and watch Studio Wrestling from Pittsburgh hosted by Chilly Billy Cardille from Night of the Living Dead fame. My grandmother would put me in her lap and we'd just watch the magic. That's where I learned about Bruno Sammartino, Dominic Denucci, Jumping Johnny DeFazio, Battman, Baron Mikel Scicluna. and George "the Animal" Steele. I've been a fan for life and I'll turn sixty this year. Unfortunately, there's very little footage of this footage left because I heard they would use the same tapes over and over and didn't save anything.
Great social dude. Respectful of all things wrestling. Crazy creative. Have to say he is a hero. Even though I didn't grow up with Eric. UA-cam stuff is enough to show his outstanding sense & flamboyance
This wasn't just an interview; it was also a documentary. A humble lunchpail guy who learned, grew, taught others, and got over.
Eric Embry & Tom Prichard were a very good tag team
Eric was an incredible heel in Memphis. He was so obnoxious! He worked hard to be that annoying. Great work.
Loved watching him. The stuff in World Class against Akbar and in USWA with Prichard against Lawler and the other good guys. Just wrestling gold..
