I was wondering what potash is. You explained it perfectly. Its sad that someone would accuse you of sending sand🤦♀️ that just shows their lack of knowledge on the subject.
Thank you for your kind comment Rhonda.

Potash is white and hard as a rock until dissolved..its not like sand at all ..go to African market its a mineral used to soften meat
Okay Mimi, potash is mined from all over the world and looks different in various forms. Potash can be made from wood ash or mined in rock form so please do not miseducated. There are several free videos on UA-cam that shows how wood ash potash is made which always comes out in a texture like sand. There is no one standard potash.
Wow! I never knew that traditional ABS is a paste.

hi there, there is an African Market in my area, the owner is from Ghana and I called to see if he carries the Potash but he then said the word 'alum'. I told him I didn't know it by that name but I need it to make soap and he said Alum is another name. Are you familiar? I just wanted to be sure b4 I drive all the way over there. Thank you.
Hello @Ava alum is not potash but aluminium salt. It won't saponify oils. You need either botanical potash or organic potash to make true black soap.
ok, thank you so much for this.
Any idea what the item is that he has?
Ava Maria No dear Alum and potash are 2 different things
