    nice video, ive rewaxed barbour jackets umpteen times since i was 12 years old (48now), ive tried different methods and the one ive found best, is to use a sponge to apply the wax, use a cotton cloth to remove excess, and that is the key, you put to much on and it takes forever to dry. use a hairdyer to sink in the wax, hang for 24 hours. As you say it is labour intensive, Ive done every jacket in the barbour shooting and riding range, from short riding jackets to the long Burghley half horse cover.
    great videos

    thanks for taking the time to film this....i also have a merlin jacket, and was a bit hessitant to rewax it due to it having a slightly rougher feel to it than say a belstaff, it is quite new tho and its just starting to get the shine, they call it patina nowadays dont they .anyway im off to buy a tin of wax now, thanks again

    • @ToniReviews
      @ToniReviews  3 роки тому +1

      vaudiw1 no problem... good luck 🤞. Make sure you allow the jacket to fully dry before plying the new wax... something I didn’t do completely so had a few damp patches which made it harder to apply. But it’s fairly straight forward and should help continue to keep your jacket in tip top shape. Mines still going strong.

      thanks. Hope it helps... it's currently still curing/ sweating. Ill leave it for a few days before giving it another wipe over with a dry cloth to remove any last excess. Thanks for the watch and the time to comment

    Great video, thx for sharing it. Question - did you wait for the jacket to dry after you cleaned it before applying the wax or did you apply it when it was still wet? Thx

      Hi. Yes I allowed it to dry before adding the wax. Sorry this wasn’t too clear in the video. Hope this helps. 👍

    Does it have to dry after you wash it? before putting on the wax?

    • @ToniReviews
      @ToniReviews  3 роки тому +2

      Maxwell Portlock preferably yes allow the jacket to dry, before you apply the wax to the jacket.

    This is all very well, but how about a video that combines motorcycling, surfing, drumming and baking a cake all at the same time. Only you Toni, can pull it off!

      Obviously I've seen your other videos Toni and sometimes I think you're spreading yourself too thin with all these other interests.
      I had to laugh at the cake baking contest - you only had to win the damn thing, even if it meant trampling on all the little people. 😊😉@@ToniReviews

    forgot to hairdryer or heat gun it to melt it right into the cloth.

    • @ToniReviews
      @ToniReviews  Рік тому

      Yes you could do this, however I prefer the wax to seep in naturally, but I will give a hairdryer a go next time and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for sharing

    infact cold water does not do the job

    • @ToniReviews
      @ToniReviews  2 роки тому +1

      Sometimes using a hotter water I’ve found melts the old wax into the jacket fibres, so I found the cold water first allows you to wipe off the outside residual dirt without melting the older wax into the fibres. I would be interested to see how hot / warm water compares, but as you can see from the video the cold water does remove a lot of the outer grime, even if it does sound a little weird or counter intuitive.
