I spent HOURS researching this topic. This is what I did for my precious Roland Sands - Ronin jacket in tobacco color: //1\\ Obenauf's cleaner //2\\ Obenauf's Leather Oil for (conditioning and protection). Woooow what an incredible result, really restored the color depth and it smells like the interior of an exotic car. And MAN my 7 year old jacket was dirty!
@@Anthony-du5uf No I didn't use it for the interior. But turns out a lot of the "dirt" that was coming off wasn't just dirt, it was a brown/tinted protectant that was on the leather from the factory. It removed a lot of the gloss that I liked on the original finish from the jacket. So I would NOT use the leather cleaner. I have purchased the Saphir brand (best polishes in the world, especially for shoes) - Canadian Oil from them. It came recommended by Saphir to restore the shine, protection, and color to large items like jackets, purses, briefcases, etc. That product is available in all kinds of colors. Let me know if you have any other questions!
A lot of professional car detailers and home cleaning/restoration people use Lysol for deodorizing. I learned that secret years ago and....it freaking works! Smelly sneakers? Hit them with Lysol. Smelly car vents? Don't pay for those expensive deodorizing kits. One can of Lysol will do it! (Search UA-cam for some How To vids) Old, smelly leathers or work gear? Shoot the inside with Lysol. It deodorizes and kills mold/mildew, etc. Seriously! Try it for yourself. I typically go with Lemon Breeze scent. If you don't want any scent, don't worry. It typically fades after a week or so and you can't smell it any more.
I found that using rubber gloves gives you more leverage and coverage when rubbing in the conditioner and cleaner. It also saves on the amount of product you're using, because it doesn't soak into the gloves. Put the jacket on and rub it in using the gloves. When doing the back of the jacket, simply put the jacket on backwards. Give it a try.

Why not just turn it inside out, and throw it in the washer? As long as you use the right kind of soap, and not la8uundry detergent, it won't hurt anything. Just dry it out for a few days, conditioning it once a day, and at the end, when it's completely dry. Works way better than just spraying it down with stuff that won't get the salt and sweat off.
What if the armor on my jacket, Rev'it Stellar, is non removable in the forearms which will prevent me from turning it inside out? (also is it safe to use these products with the armor in or will they damage the protection provided by the armor in any way?)
Try mixing up 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth and wipe down the bags (including the insides if necessary). If there is visible mold or mildew, you can use a soft bristle brush with the water/alcohol mixture to lightly scrub affected areas in a circular motion. Then let the bags air out for at least a couple days. Once the odor goes away, use a leather conditioner. -DrewZilla
Generally, lamb leather is more delicate than cowhide, so you should try to find a conditioner specific for lamb leather. Unfortunately, we do not carry any conditioner for lamb leather. -DrewZilla

Don't use those on your seat, it will be too damn slippery to sit on and you'll have to wipe it off unless they have changed it's composition from the 70's. It looks great on everything but be careful.
Like we discussed in the video, when we talked to Anthony's they stressed that you really shouldn't be using conditioner more than once a year. So if you are going to clean and condition once a year and then spot clean with baby wipes you should be fine. If you are looking to detail clean your leather hear a few times a year you should probably consider using a cleaner and then the cleaner and conditioner once a year.

I believe Belstaff sells their own wax dressing directly from their own website or their own retail stores. For cleaning waxed leather, you might want to contact Belstaff directly about their own care instructions. -DrewZilla
That's it? What about cleaning the jacket on the inside?
Try using Febreeze or a mild disinfectant spray. Avoid bleach though. -DrewZilla
I recently pulled a leather riding vest from storage and it smells like its been there for ages. I have aired it and placed it under the sun but it still smells like storage. Can I use Febreeze on the outside leather itself or is there any other alternative?
Yes, you can try some Febreeze, but that's better for fabrics. You might try a de-salter like Spurgeon uses in the video. -DrewZilla
Hello my friend, I'm from Brazil and I would like to know what kind of product I could use in my macao to moisturize and soften the leather
Thank you
Everyone has their own favorite products, but we recommend Anthony's Leatherworks most commonly. Check them out at the link below. -Kraus-e

Why not just turn it inside out, and throw it in the washer? As long as you use the right kind of soap, and not la8uundry detergent, it won't hurt anything. Just dry it out for a few days, conditioning it once a day, and at the end, when it's completely dry. Works way better than just spraying it down with stuff that won't get the salt and sweat off.
i dont turn it inside out but i do throw it in the washer useing tide soap then lay flat on a towel 1 day dry time works great never had a problem
Simply apply the leather black shoe polish and bamm you go
What if the armor on my jacket, Rev'it Stellar, is non removable in the forearms which will prevent me from turning it inside out? (also is it safe to use these products with the armor in or will they damage the protection provided by the armor in any way?)
If you cannot turn the jacket inside out, then just do your best to clean the inner forearms without turning the arms fully inside out. -DrewZilla
My saddle bags have a musty smell from being down cellar, what should I use
Try mixing up 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth and wipe down the bags (including the insides if necessary). If there is visible mold or mildew, you can use a soft bristle brush with the water/alcohol mixture to lightly scrub affected areas in a circular motion. Then let the bags air out for at least a couple days. Once the odor goes away, use a leather conditioner. -DrewZilla
Will this method also maintain a white leather to stay white? Because white leather tend to go yellow-ish after some time
Yes, this method will also help white leather to stay white. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla white shoe polish?
will this work on lamb leather
Generally, lamb leather is more delicate than cowhide, so you should try to find a conditioner specific for lamb leather. Unfortunately, we do not carry any conditioner for lamb leather. -DrewZilla
Is leather water proof? Ive been stuck on wanting to get a real nice leather jacket or something more "versital" as my main riding jacket.
Generally, no, leather is not waterproof, and a lot of leather can be damaged by water if not properly maintained. However, you might consider a leather/textile hybrid jacket that's also waterproof or just a waterproof textile jacket. -DrewZilla

Good habits help leather to last longer!
Good stuff!
What do you recommend for buffalo leather?
If it has a similar sheen (not a natural rough finish or suede), then you can use the same process. -DrewZilla
No info on how to clean the inside stench of a motorcycle jacket that cant be removed.
Is conditioning the same thing as waterproofing?
No, they aren't the same thing. Conditioning leather means to clean the leather and maintain the correct moisture/flexibility of the leather, so that it doesn't become brittle and crack. Waterproofing just means to attempt to waterproof the leather. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla thank you so much for replying. For about a month and a half Ive asked several channels that are specifically for leather care and no one has replied until you did. I have another question. What about Armor All? Is that bad for a leather jacket?
We do not recommend using Armor All on a leather jacket, especially a motorcycle leather jacket. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla i didn't think so but sometimes you never know. I did read a couple of places that (unscented) baby wipes were good for periodic cleaning. The logic of it makes sense, in that if its ok for a baby's skin its safe for leather, however, im not 100% comfortable with it. There are so many different things on the market and im sure that there are some home remedies that are safe.

if i dont want to wait for shipping time to get that exact de-salter, whats an alternative i can buy from like Walmart or sumthing? Would a regular stain remover on the liner work too?
We don't have any Wal-Mart recommendations, and we cannot guarantee how a regular stain remover might affect the leather on the interior of your jacket. You're welcome to try whatever you want though. -DrewZilla
I actually just ended up ordering Anthony's De-Salter. In the mean time i just bought some fabreze with gain and it smells fresh now. I'll just wait it out to get the desalter to i guess deep clean the liner. Thanks for the vid!
RevZilla of course he's welcome to use whatever he wants lol
Is there any special tricks to cleaning white leather? I just picked up a used dainese suit and its 90% white. Seems to be in basically flawless shape but I want to give it a thorough clean and condition. While being an essentially brand new suit that was never used, its still 5yrs old.
How often do you condition a sheepskin leather jacket? Or clean it for that matter? Thank you (ps this is not a moto jacket - too soft)
You usually brush it when dry and/or use a specific sheepskin conditioner. Some suede/nubuck conditioners/cleaners might be usable. -DrewZilla
RevZilla awesome thank you!
Lemmy Kilmister?
What about my fur coat I ride in?
Try some champagne and caviar... -DrewZilla

Which jacket is being used here for the demo?
It's the REV'IT! Red Hook. -DrewZilla

Nice! Thank you for responding!
Mink oil is not a cleaner. Its used to condition the leather
I use armorall leather wipes
Don't use those on your seat, it will be too damn slippery to sit on and you'll have to wipe it off unless they have changed it's composition from the 70's. It looks great on everything but be careful.
Great video….but I must say, that jacket looks like it just came of the rack.
The Anthony's product says its a leather cleaner and conditioner. Cant we just use that?
+Paul Valakelis Yeah, the one-step cleaner and conditioner works pretty well on its own. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla hoping you dudes stock it soon. My jackets need lurv
Silicone spray works well for me...it kinda waterproofs the jacket
What about sweat in jacket how to that
You can use a de-salter and/or Febreeze on the interior liner as well. -DrewZilla
Why the fuck do people that make tutorials and informational videos ramble on and on and on about their personal stories or explained the title of the video? I don't need to know what you wear your jacket for just tell me how to clean it and all that. I don't need to know the title of the video because I clicked on the video because of the title, I don't need to know what happens to your jacket I just want to hear about cleaning and protecting my jacket.
Obenaughs or peccards or Leather Honey are the only products to use.
What jacket is this?
It's the now-discontinued REV'IT! Red Hook Jacket. Here are some similar options. -DrewZilla

Well when leather gets wet, it's impossible to dry it.
One thing works: patience
☆♡▪♡☆ HANDSOME STUD!!!
I can't stand when people turn 5-minute videos into 10-minute videos. Get to the point bro I just wanna know how to clean my leather jacket. 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah it's easy to clean, when it's already clean.
That is very accurate observation!
The key to cleaning things is to not let them get dirty.
how do you clean makeup off of your leather jacket??
You should be able to use a standard makeup remover, as long as the makeup remover does not contain petroleum distillates. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Okay! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
no mink oil? I think mink oil is univeral
Well.... he said mink oil is a big no no. Causes discoloring.
I had some boots I used mink oil on back in the early 70's and they never rotted, they stayed real soft and were water proofed, my Dad suggested I use mink oil, never had any problems so I don't know why that person stated the info. I've also used the oil on leather gardening gloves that got wet and the oil brought them back to life, they were real stiff, I've used the oil on cold weather gloves and riding jacket just this year, only time will tell and finally found some two inch flourecent tape to put on my black riding jacket and gloves so I will be seen, going to put it on my black BMW too in specific places, black bikes are damn hard to be seen, I've had some people almost pull out in front of me in day light so I'm trying to make my bike easier to see, BMW does not cover their 1200rt sport touring bikes with nearly enough lights like Honda does to their Goldwings, you have to do that your self.
What if you have genuine imitation leather? (I'm kidding)
FLUSHABLE BUTT WIPES to the rescue!!!
What of if just a lady & got $20 sale at Charlotte Ruse & I just want to disinfect back spot or all area just incase, cuz touched nasty bus back & I don't want it with look. I want it to look new.
It says to wash in machine cold, etc. I don't think so ! 😂 Stupid sticker. It says hang. I always do. It has removable red fur collar too. I want just wash the cloth liner under arms and hang up at home inside and the leather. It won't get dirty, but I want just to disinfect right now.
It will never get real dirty, cuznot a biker chick, etc, so just cleaning under arms for the sweat inside,& wipe outside. I'm worried if was with water will ruin leather inside. & rot. I will only be using fall holidays & my B-Day, so wear g twice a year.
I would like to use organic natural not chemicals, so could you please find out for me. Your video too loud and I turned it down. My ears hurt. My cell has no front speaker & crazy ZTE brand that has issues on other videos, but hours is loud. Good thing I wasn't on earbuds or headset. Gee Wiz😂
Anyhow, just want to know how to store. I have 3 months still or so in this bad effs appt, but once move to new clean place, cleaner air & actual flow, no mold, mildew, bugs, etc not have to keep nice clothes in totes, real closet I can hang it up in cloth bag, or should I keep in bag in tote anyhow ?
I want it where the air, etc won't ruin it like other stuff I've had, shoes, etc the skin flaking off. So sad. Like if was out in the sun, but it's months after or few yrs after not wearing them like Sandra's had out in the open, but hidden covered up behind tote on a rack by closet by head of the old adult bunk bed made into day bed.
I went to wear them, cuz hit other day to be easy on off go get toe nails done for New Year's Eve & saw it on a spot at thestraponthe right side one I think. I don't need for that to occur to the jacket like other clothing I had in the past. May it never be Amen ! ! ! Sorfy my ear sensitive today as well. Anyhow. I don't like nasty funny smell baby wipes, etc. I try to find natural version. Even other wipes suck. Do you know some that smell candy like or nice or no fragrance. I will just keep asking at health grocery stores.
I don’t washer it will shampoo
My bikers armoured leather jacket is that heavy its nearly as heavy as A human adult😐😐🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
Too much talking
Its going to help the wick sweat away @
Smash on some kiwi. BOSH. Job done.
No need for all this fancy stuff I just use a damp cloth when it gets dirty! 🤦🤦
