      I would say Vai could keep up with him and Batio too , the problem is these Shred guitarists cant write good music ,thats popular , Yngwie has not had a hit since his first album Rising Force in 1984 so yeah if he had slowed it down a bit and got together with a band like Deep Purple etc he would have had more hit music

      My only gripe with Malmsteen is that his playing is pretty one dimensional. He’s amazing at what he does but he rarely steps out of classical minor key based neo shred. Still a fan tho!

      @epic103 3 роки тому +4

      @@gabedotti3716 - In fairness, that's his thing. What he does is incorporates classical in rock/metal.
      Yngwie is his own category. He has a hybrid style. Yngwie combines elements of rock, metal, blues, and classical into his guitar playing. Even though his biggest influence comes from the classical realm he still incorporates elements of other styles like blues, metal, rock.

    what many haters fail to acknowledge is that yngwie is an original and completely changed the landscape of modern rock guitar FOREVER. there are only 3 other players that can lay claim to this. Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and finally Yngwie. They are the 4 cornerstones of the rock guitar universe.

    Helene here: This is the level of concert pianists, concert solo violinists etc. This is neo-Baroque music, in form much like Bach or Handel or Mozart. The solo he was doing would normally be done by a star violinist. I find this brilliant, breathtaking, awe inspiring and fascinating. But it does not reduce me to tears because of its beauty, the way DAvid Gilmore does every time I Listen to him play the solo from Comfortably Numb. And I say that as someone who has sung in classical concert choirs for decades and love that music. It is interesting to me that something can be gobsmacking but still not reach my heart, whereas something much more “simple” can.

    Yes, now that you're stepping into this territory I'd really recommend Jason Becker - Altitudes. He was a guitar virtuoso in the 80's and just like Yngwie was a phenomenal neoclassical metal artist that unfortunately was diagnosed with ALS and couldn't even speak by 1996, but he managed to create his own legacy by then.
    After you hopefully check him out you need to see the tribute a lot of legendary guitar artists did called Jason Becker - Valley Of Fire. They came together to honor him and it's so melodic and beautiful.

You know Malmsteen is one of the pioner of shredin , and in neoclassical style he is the father. His way of playing is unic. and his vibrato top ! Very unik. So, show some respect for Malmsteen

      @@scottdavey3804 I feel sorry for Becker. But this video has nothing to do with ALS. I love so much the way Becker plays guitar ,and his album when he used to play is just fantastic!. I also like his composition after been paralized from ALS. Malmsteen is another matter is not only about his playing but for his contribution in neoclassical rock. You can find dozen of guitarist today how can play hundred time faster and better the yngwie and becker etc, but it is all about what you compose and what you contribute , Malmsteen haa influenced many guitarist included Becker . Malmsteen was in the right plays in the right time. He is the firts who played with orchestra as being part and melt with classical music. However I totaly respect both. As a guitar player of some 36 years, let me give you my opinion on how he plays that fast. When you play, and you keep playing, you get to a point where you can almost do it blindfolded, for Yngwie, as odd as it sounds, he thinks about it like how you change gear in a car, you just do it without thinking, not only is it fantastic, it's effortless. When you start playing, your head is full of things you want to learn, and you have no technique, but then years later, you get to a point where, you have all the technique, and can't think of anything to play, sadly, it means your heroes, aren't your heroes anymore, but that's another story.

    He plays fast by having a short picking action, plus he employs “pull offs” and “hammer ons” (means some notes he doesnt need to pick with his right hand.

    All other copy him ^^
    He play this since early 80th and he had a bad bad accident and was in coma for while

    Yes Yngwie is truly amazing and when he burst on the scene in the 80s he just blew everyone away and changed the shredding game for good. For while everybody wanted to play like him. But here’s the problem, he does the same thing every album. His first two albums are the best imo. They are a must have for any respectable collector. But after that he kinda repeats himself ad nauseum. When you first hear him you might wonder how anyone could every get tired of his playing. But after a few albums it just gets tedious. You just go ‘ok he’s doing these riffs again.’ No wonder he’s so fucking good at it, it’s all he does. As someone else suggested check out Jason Becker with Cacophony. Jason doesn’t play anymore because of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. But in his day he was just as impressive as Yngwie and 10 times as versatile. As a gag he used to play Eruption by EVH with one hand while a yo-yoing with the other. Check out his album Perpetual Burn. It’s fucking insane. Not dissing Yngwie, btw. Much respect for his playing and influence. He is a hell of a showman too. It’s just that he hasn’t done anything really different for decades.

      @@simonedangelosericola5742 Nope Talking about Yngwie. His first two albums are stil his best. Amazing. And then he just repeats. And the blues are an artform of expression and tone. A good blues player can say more with five notes than a shredder can say with a hundred.

      @@IYAMNI oh man, I've been misguided by your words "...same thing in every album" and "...reapats ad nauseam", I mean, it sounds like you were talking about blues. You now, same chord progression, same scales, same things since its birth... and the fairy tale "feelings" to compensate for the lack of skills... 😅

      @IYAMNI 3 роки тому

      @@simonedangelosericola5742 Oh you're misguided alright, but not by my words.... that word doesn't mean what you think it means. Yngwie is a great and influencial guitarist, but he hasn't done anything new since the 80s. That's just a fact. He literally plays the same solo three time on Trilogy. Everybody knows that. And you don't understand the blues. Anybody who plays guitar is kinda laughing at you.

      @@IYAMNI I play guitar, even if I'm not a Maestro, but good enough to understand that basically blues is quite boring and there are 5-6, maybe 7 musicians who play it in a different way compared to all the others. Feeling is a word used to justify its lack of creativity, and it's completely subjective. For example, I find "Criyng" way more full of feeling than any blues track. Obviously it goes without saying than the feeling in something from Vivaldi far exceedes that boring, irretrievably static chord progression and phrasing, IMHO...

    there are a lot of amazing guitar players out there. Yngwie is one of the finests... You should check Steve Vai (Building the Church is an amazing song, but you could also check For The Love of God, live with orchestra also), John Petrucci from Dream Theater, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan, Kiko Loureiro...

    You are right, all the greats believe he might be the greatest technician ever recorded, however he also is not the best song writer as voted by the public, as in the gold and platinum records tell that tale. But you can pick any guitarist in the world at a premium level and ask them what they think of Yngwie's playing and they will get a 5000 yard stare in their eye as if to say, 'some mountains are not for mere mortals to climb.'

    I can't imagine how shocked you're going to be when you discover Yngwie is not the actual final shred boss. Just when you think you've conquered the game you get surprised by the Joe Satriani and Steve Vai levels. Both those guys have every bit of Yngwie's technical ability, but combine it with more rock and roll feel (Joe Satriani), and out of this world genius creativity (Steve Vai). You're in for a treat when you check those guys out!

    • @bitdevice

      Taste is different but neither Vai or Satriani can compare to Yngwie's first two albums. Satriani can write some groovy songs but I feel nothing when I listen to Vai, too much whammy bar non-sense. I would rank Tony MacAlpine higher than both, especially when it comes to composing music.

      @@bitdevice TONY MACALPINE!!! How could I forget Tony - good catch!
      It is all about taste - I've heard stuff that I absolutely love from ALL those guys, and I was blessed to have attended a G3 concert when Malmsteen, Satriani and Vai all went on the road together. And then here's the kicker - Vai had brought Tony MacAlpine on tour with him as second guitar! We had no idea until he came out on stage, and just early that day my buddy and I had been talking about great guitar players and MacAlpine was one of the guys we discussed, and then we got to see him play live as an unexpected bonus - best surprise ever!
