    Lyrics:
    Crystal clear
    Just like envy
    All our skies turning green
    Rising wind
    Bristling trauma
    Search for shelter
    Heed the storm
    Crystal clear
    Like an obsession
    Darkened clouds
    Air so cold...
    And all that we wanted
    And all of those plans
    Small and cramped
    Head for the bottom
    Now crystal clear
    I am Envy
    Lacking trauma,
    I’m the storm
    Wasted hours
    Turned to seasons
    Now a lifetime...
    What to show?
    Rest my head now
    On the frigid glass
    Condensation
    Watch the landscape pass
    Steal some shut eye
But time won’t give itself back
    ...And all of those plans

GENGHIS TRON make their return with their highly anticipated new album, Dream Weapon! The band’s first new studio outing in over a decade, GENGHIS TRON’s Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky are now joined by two new collaborators: vocalist Tony Wolski and Sumac/Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn. Together, the lineup perfects the unique mix of extreme rock and electronic music GENGHIS TRON has pioneered over their storied career. A melding of hypnotic rhythms and densely layered synth soundscapes, Dream Weapon was recorded and produced alongside long-time collaborator Kurt Ballou at God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, with additional production and engineering by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe) and JJ Heath (Rain City Recorders).
Lyrically and conceptually, Dream Weapon picks up where Board Up The House left off.
“That album’s closing track, ‘Relief,’ was about how humans have become a burden to the planet, and how Earth will endure long after we’re gone,” Jordan explains. “There is sadness at the end, but some relief-and beauty-too. Dream Weapon is, loosely, an album-length meditation on that theme.
From the ethereal, almost robotic vocal phrasings accompanying the industrial attack of “Pyrocene,” to the chaotic, pulse-pounding drumming acrobatics and cyclical guitar patterns in the album’s triumphant title track, Dream Weapon is not just a nod to GENGHIS TRON’s celebrated past as a metal/progressive/experimental outfit. The new album redefines what these genres, sounds, and musical elements can achieve. Dream Weapon is a record that captures GENGHIS TRON at a matured, focused state; the ebbs and flows of the album are just as hard-hitting as they are dreamy, soaring, and meditative.
Seasoned GENGHIS TRON listeners will find Dream Weapon to be both excitingly fresh and reassuringly familiar. “Though it sounds a bit different than our previous albums, I don't think we approached Dream Weapon any differently than the others,” Jordan explains. “Michael and I take years to write and trade demos, with about 80% of our ideas landing on the cutting-room floor. Once we have a rough song idea we both like, we write dozens of drafts of a song over months before we end up with a final demo.”
“I think one difference in our approach for this album was that we had a strong sense from the outset of what kind of vibe we wanted to create,” Sochynsky adds. “Something more cohesive, meditative and hypnotic."
Through the album’s inventiveness and rejuvenated approach, Dream Weapon marks another bold step forward in the wildly creative career of GENGHIS TRON, and cements the band's legacy of groundbreaking, genre-defying innovation

Yo, that's EXACTLY what I thought. I was trying to consider if it was necessarily taking from a more recent synthwave tradition, or if they were in some way indebted to the older German acts for this record. It sounds very progressive in the way that earlier stuff was.

Honestly it's not really something compare though. It's been over a decade. You can't really expect a band to come back a decade later and sound exactly how they used to. Their inspiration just grew over time and that's exactly how this song sounds. I definitely know from experience how the music I made 10 years ago is way different than anything I come up with now. Dead Mountain Mouth will always be my favorite but I'm super excited about this one. Those synths were incredible.

I'm a huge fan of old Genghis Tron and will be one of the disappointed fans. Where are all the musical spices that made Genghis Tron so great back in the time? It's cool as an electro kraut track but this scene is so much over filled with so much sounding like these track that it got no particular savior, no kind of artistic signatures. If it was'nt from GT, i guess this track would simply be lost in the Internet profusion. Vibes here are cools but intensity can't compete with tracks from Board Up The House.

Somehow you have to disassociate those albums. I was listening to BUTH last week and switched over to Dream Weapon this week. It took me a little while to appreciate the differences. Now I'm hypnotized by Dream Weapon. The first few times I listened to Dream Weapon I thought it was boring as shit...... But that's what kept me coming back to it. It has a hypnotic quality to it

    • @leonardsimonis2376
      @leonardsimonis2376 3 роки тому

I have to disaggree. For me, its similar to what happened to "SWANS". Listen to their first few albums, especially "Filth". And then listen to "White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity", which is far more better to me, because it has different and distinctive songs that don't sond all the same and melodies you can somewhat remember. It's still dark and it's still SWANS, but it has more musical output to offer to me. SWANS retired in 1998 only to return in 2010, and their album "The Seer" is dark and hard as fuck (not fast, they're not speed metal, they are rather slow. but that makes them even harder and darker), and another musical exploration. Also, their female vocalist didn't return.
But the new direction is even bettern than the "White Light" era.
What I wanted to say is that new takes in music are always good (The cult of luna album with Julie Christmas comes to my mind, but also Fleetwood Mac), even if one doesn't like them. Because if you like them, that's great, and if not, it can't be changed but it makes you adore the previous sound even more. And new ideas and different explorations are better than a band that releases the same album every few years (a bit like AC/DC)
