Rusty make yourself some spread load boards for when hauling soft/squashables/shrink wrapped multi boxes on a pallet like you have on board where straps bury themselves inside when tightening.
To make get some webbing Seat belts etc and something like pallet boards four per unit or more so 48" long you wrap webbing over and under and fasten to each board with a gap between each board to fold up/fit round things there a bit like sand boards. So when strapping loads to stop falling over/moving stand on ends pull one strap round/across then do second adjust so both straps are over boards plus if narrower loads you can strap from further back so no moving!
That way when done up the strap pressure is spread out over your load and the boards fit round the load that way peace of mind when on the road.

The def level sender does have a built in heater. Those tend to go bad. Check wiring first. It just heats the def with the engine coolant when it gets to freezing temps.
