Dont listen to anyone hating, you have some good sheetmal, wheels, trim pieces, dash etc, itl take fabrication, but its a project worth doing, and a story worth remembering!
I’m glad there is someone else as crazy as me out there lol! I have a Model A I found in similar condition & I’m in the process of piecing it back together.
I was a VW parts manager in the early 70s, first job out of the Army. Also, my first car was a 1957 VW bug. still, love them. Best of luck. Also, my last duty station was Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.
I saw on UA-cam a rescue of a 23 window bus. I believe it was the only existing vehicle of its type and age. It is even in worse shape then your bus. They have it stretched out on tables with labels, just pieces of old rusted metal. It's going to take hundreds of thousands of dollars to restore that bus but I guess it's worth it.
Hey Junkyard life! This is VW Life and we're subscribed! We can help you with your journey. Kombi is short for kombination. It was the base model of the bus that included a removable. The idea was that you could use it for commercial purposes during the week and recreational activities on the weekends. Hence combination...
if this 1965 vw kombi beach boy bus... was outside in the wilds in britain.it would of rusted away 20 or 30 years ago due to our cold wet damp climate .with only the tyres and engine remaining .amazed its still in one peace after 45 years
Cool! Even though she is rough, it could still be saved! I have saved worse.....One nice thing, TONS of parts available for these, as well as the prices are through the roof!
That one is a parts bus in 2019, if it was a barndoor it would be restored or even a 60s 21 or 23 window would be worth it. Im sure in that condition in another 20 years someone would restore it but right now it would be a money pit. Still worth the effort to get the parts.
southernfriedhippie the back is clearly broke you could see the door gap opening up when it was sliding off the truck bed, the only thing holding it together is the roof skin.
Looks like a job!!wish you lot's of luck!! You said the undercarriage was beetle with bigger motor so underneath not too bad that can be replaced the body would be the problem.. you can get panels fixed or replaced. Would be nice to see back together. Wish you luck an hope to see update soon..
I'm all with you! I feel a little sad when it comes to restoration in such extend, as the end product is not the same one entity as it was before, like saying restoring a hammer by changing its handle and then the head. Would be nice to see you do something with this, and in fact i'm waiting for it!
Kinda surprised that it wasn't riddled with shotgun bullets like everything else in Alabama. You should've collected a few of those cans! Those are 70s 80s vintage!!!
Love that original dove blue colour. We have multiple vw buses but sadly I don think this is worth fixing. I’ve seen many rusty buses but that one is extra crusty :)
Junkyard life..On UA-cam go to "slipkungen" out of Sweden he pulled an Desoto Diplomat out of a creek. Its is in the same shape your Vw is in.Watch his videos this guy doesn't giveup...Good Luck
That baby can be built just need to find a frame....Look at the frame..then axle.then sheetmetal.Keep the whole bus out of your mind it can be built in section..gd luck.
me n my dad pulled a bunch of car out of a woods on a property he bought about 12 years ago. one was a 56 belair 2 door that looked a lot like this bus. it cam apart the first time we pulled on it. i daved what i could on it n scrapped the rest
There's hardly anything left to restore but I've seen worse brought back to life. I would think Mustie1 could have it back on the road in a couple of weeks.
I Know is hard to admit but she was better of in her resting place there's nothing to do she past the point of no return let go dude be strong life goes on
Not trying to be a jerk but do you thing it is worth all the time, effort and money. With all the rot and not much left. I enjoy old vehicle rescues and restoration. I have a 68 f250 that I am going to fix up.
2 10 ft 2x8s nailed to plywood making a sled jacking the thing up and sliding the sled under it... would have made that pull easy and would have taken one day.
Dont listen to anyone hating, you have some good sheetmal, wheels, trim pieces, dash etc, itl take fabrication, but its a project worth doing, and a story worth remembering!
Wishing Y'all the best with this old girl. I have a 67 15 window and 62 double cab and love them both.
I’m glad there is someone else as crazy as me out there lol! I have a Model A I found in similar condition & I’m in the process of piecing it back together.
10 years old when it was parked/left to rust. I was 14. Man, that hurts.
You are a man of extreme vision. They say if have to ask why you don't get it, so I won't ask
This guy's is a Legend He likes old cars and classical cars wow salute for you Mr!!👏👏👌👌

Totally restorable. Let the fun begin.

Cut it in half length-wise for an awesome man cave wall hanger, backlight it through the windows.....NICE ONE!!!

Thanks! I will be checking out VW Life, we can use your help ;)
@@Junkyardlife sounds like a plan! You're going to need a lot of help!
That’s a ton of work there. At least reproduction parts are easy to find. Hope you get it done! Good luck with the project.
In my opinion respectively out of my experience this rescuing mission and especially the unloading couldn't be done more worse!
🎉9:19 Your passion for barn finds really shines through. Keep it up!

Don't be one of those first and last rescue videos. We root for you, good luck guys! :)
yep you can do it!
Can't wait to see the progress!
awh this is so cool, I've always wanted to own one of these
I think the wheel base grew a ft.
I like restoration of vintage vehicles 😍😍
Hell of a lot of work to do
MUSTIE 1 wouldn’t even attempt that one.
MUSTIE 1 has never seen car in bad condition...
Kombi is a common name across Europe for Station wagon. I even saw Volga station wagons in Russia years ago refered to as Kombis.
Cool! Even though she is rough, it could still be saved! I have saved worse.....One nice thing, TONS of parts available for these, as well as the prices are through the roof!
yeah you could prolly make a new old 1960s van hehe
I think these old VW Vans out west will be rusty but usually not as bad as this one is
That one is a parts bus in 2019, if it was a barndoor it would be restored or even a 60s 21 or 23 window would be worth it. Im sure in that condition in another 20 years someone would restore it but right now it would be a money pit. Still worth the effort to get the parts.
Big project, the plus side is they are only going up in value and every piece is available in the afternoon to.
Shouldve chained or strapped the front beam to the rear beam to stop the spreading
Amazing! Exotic Old Car
Can't believe it didn't break in half! It was close. Might just be too far gone. :( *sniff*
southernfriedhippie the back is clearly broke you could see the door gap opening up when it was sliding off the truck bed, the only thing holding it together is the roof skin.
G. G, I saw it. I meant totally broken in half.
Bet your wife’s gonna love that at the house!
Nice story sir from aircoler for life from 64vw of nj
Let's make it to a "Flintstones" mobile. They can run through the rusty floor board on this antique 1965 VW Bus. Also there are 4 flat tires.
Looks like a job!!wish you lot's of luck!! You said the undercarriage was beetle with bigger motor so underneath not too bad that can be replaced the body would be the problem.. you can get panels fixed or replaced. Would be nice to see back together. Wish you luck an hope to see update soon..
Man that’s a pile . Good luck !
That's the way I did it big bucket and a broom and scote Brite and a vacuum cleaner and a big clean
Also love how he says he doesn't want to see it ruined. I think its beyond that bud
Poor bus, should have let it rot in peace, it looked very comfortable there in the woods, this was sacrilege, like disturbing a grave
Yes, but a falling tree woulda killed that vibe pretty quick.
Great looking bus 🚎 thank you for saving her 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍hopefully it back on the road
😂
He actually paid for this thing. I would pay him to get this eyesore of my property.
My Wife Would Kill Me, But I Woulda Dragged That Beauty Home Too!! Some V-Dub Yard Art!!
Would love to see it on the road
I'm all with you! I feel a little sad when it comes to restoration in such extend, as the end product is not the same one entity as it was before, like saying restoring a hammer by changing its handle and then the head.
Would be nice to see you do something with this, and in fact i'm waiting for it!
Thanks for the rescue ............ gettings from germany
Please restore it and relieve it on the street
Kinda surprised that it wasn't riddled with shotgun bullets like everything else in Alabama.
You should've collected a few of those cans! Those are 70s 80s vintage!!!
Got a couple that survived the banzai wrecker ride.
This VW was used and abused... good job restoring it.
I’m a panel beater from the 70s era...
You would need a chassis to start with... good luck restoring it buddy.
Love that original dove blue colour. We have multiple vw buses but sadly I don think this is worth fixing. I’ve seen many rusty buses but that one is extra crusty :)
Subscribed to see how this goes. I'll be amazed if you managed to get this on the road!
What a shame. The only thing that makes me feel better is that it will eiher be restored or become part of another restoration.
Yea that’s way more work then I would do , good luck
Get some inflated tires on there -- it would go a lot easier (if the brakes aren't locked too)
Junkyard life..On UA-cam go to "slipkungen" out of Sweden he pulled an Desoto Diplomat out of a creek. Its is in the same shape your Vw is in.Watch his videos this guy doesn't giveup...Good Luck
Fantastic ❤ 👍 💣 💀 👊
Amazing it didnt get ripped apart. That is a lot! Of rust
Nice work ❤❤❤
Moved from one grave to another
You're right the transaxle is all that's left there's no bus left
You are right about the German word 😁 greetings from Berlin
I don't hardly say this but....
She's gone.
You haven't seen car which is really gone.
Bro we still have that in guyana😂😂
Pimp out🔥🔥
Where is the complete restoration?
That baby can be built just need to find a frame....Look at the frame..then axle.then sheetmetal.Keep the whole bus out of your mind it can be built in section..gd luck.
Wow that’s crazy!
Well this is impractical project.
Ain't they all? why fix something with all the fat chewed out? just because we want to.
me n my dad pulled a bunch of car out of a woods on a property he bought about 12 years ago. one was a 56 belair 2 door that looked a lot like this bus. it cam apart the first time we pulled on it. i daved what i could on it n scrapped the rest
Anything can be fixed and put back on the road
Nice project for a rat rod or a hillbilly bus
11:30 Golly this is hard to watch
just like I thought good yard art😃
Perfect candidate for a resto mod with a WRX drive train :) or a nice lightweight TDI to blow some smoke. ;)
Just checked autotrader for VW bus prices- 1960-67 VW buses are anywhere from $50K-$125K - a good resto might be worth it....body parts are available
yep they are desirable
É de cortar o coração, uma relíquia de kombi se estragou toda. Ainda bem q vão restaura la.
obrigado
Um salve do Brasil são Paulo quando restaurar mandar vídeo.
There's hardly anything left to restore but I've seen worse brought back to life. I would think Mustie1 could have it back on the road in a couple of weeks.
If you like some parts, you can came to Brazil and find a lots.
You can see we need lots. Start a parts pile for us. Thanks!
Almost no rust, nearly perfect 👍
I Know is hard to admit but she was better of in her resting place there's nothing to do she past the point of no return let go dude be strong life goes on
;)
Steam clean it, throw a motor in it, good to go, I want the Grand Am in your driveway
Dizem que o brasileiro é apaixonado por carros kkkkkkl brasileiro só sabe remendar, americano sim ama carro 👍👍👍
No part 2 because this bus was toast long before part 1.
So when do you think the car restoration will happen? That is what rescuing means.
Nice bus
Not trying to be a jerk but do you thing it is worth all the time, effort and money. With all the rot and not much left. I enjoy old vehicle rescues and restoration. I have a 68 f250 that I am going to fix up.
Monetarily no, but sometimes you do things just to prove you can. I see value in this old bus in what it can give me not what it takes.
Plzz Upload part 2 ... waiting for see a new look
Man, I don't know. Personally, I don't even think Her Doktor Frankenstein could bring this one back from the dead. Good luck!
2 10 ft 2x8s nailed to plywood making a sled jacking the thing up and sliding the sled under it... would have made that pull easy and would have taken one day.
Sure coulda and woulda used that advice ;)
If you came to Brazil you can bring many vw bus like that !!! But still work and ride!!!
Alright, I'm loading up right now! See you soon
Крутой видос!👍
Спасибо (Thanks!)
Its toast,Put it back on the flat bed and send it to the wreckers..
Woohoo woooow amazing ........man. ....when you upload next video quickly I'm waiting for watching
That was hard to watch. Cringe moment after cringe moment. I am excited to see where it goes next
Any other car in that condition would be scraped, but not a split screen transporter, get that back on the road in no time
It's just a wash that gets brand new ....
Interesting work
Nice one..👍🇬🇧
Thank you! Cheers!
Jack up that steering wheel and put a new bus under it!
