I like the fact that you see social anxiety as a holistic problem. You don't see this with a lot of coaches and psychologists, they only look at the symptom, not the root causes.

This is absolutely amazing, I loved all the detail from your external situations to your inner thoughts at each stage. Have you heard of ACEs (adverse childhood events) and Complex PTSD? You have a lot of ACEs in your youth. You mught find Pete Walker and Dr Gabor Mate interesting, I have found them v helpful. I'm currently in a low point myself after a lot of bereavement and loss and I want to really improve my life. I actually went to a Buddhist centre last night and got massive anxiety doing the group meditation! But I liked the place and the people so I want to go back. Let me know if you have any thoughts on reducing group meditation anxiety. I'm glad I found your channel.

Hey Kate, sorry for the delay in replying. I appreciate your thoughtful comment. I'm not familiar with Pete Walker, but I been a fan of Gabor Mate for a long time. What do you find challenging about the group meditation setting? Some people can find the silence very oppressive. It would be hard to give you any advice without more context. If you wanted to have a quick chat about it, you can email me at: ed@thesocialanxietycoach.com

Amazing powerful video, depicting the strength of the mind, self awareness and self improvement. Came across this video because I watched a video on eye contact as I am on a journey to being more charasmatic and improve my social comfort or reduce the superficial social anxiety we create in our heads. And now I leave this video with a self realisation that although I may not be as bad as others I still have a lot of changes that I can make in my life, in order to be a better version of self.

I have watched your videos for years. I have tried some things such as lying down in public but think I need more guidance to overcome my social anxiety. I messaged you. I hope I can chat with you one day.

But genetics also play its role here, agree?

Very small role. Research only 15-20%

Social anxiety disorder (or social phobia) is a common and heritable psychiatric disorder that is driven by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Until now, genetic studies on SAD have been rare. According to the researchers, "This is the largest association study so far into social phobia."@@indrakamalyadav2921

It's role in what? You would have to elaborate for me to give you an answer.
What I do know though, is when people want to play the 'genetics card', it's generally to try and persuade themselves that the person presenting whatever idea it is, has some kind of genetic gift or unfair natural advantage.
Therefore, the information isn't applicable to them, which gives them an excuse to stay in their comfort zone and not push themself through any of the pain and effort that the person presenting the idea has gone through. It's usually symptomatic of a learned helplessness mindset.
