So it's like... telling people that Silent Hill is just a mere movie that they're filming, it isn't real. But seriously Silent Hill series should've made this as their signature thing to apply in every series, kinda wish every series including the spin-offs have this (SH2 Mira ending could be count)
This song is so sad... and the part where Lisa truly understands what she is is really sad too... when Cybil becomes possessed at least you can save her but you can't save Lisa at all. I like when you read through Lisa's diary and it tells you a bit about her backstory with this song still playing in the background... it's only when you enter another room that this song starts to slowly stop playing.

Easily the best scene in the entire game. Left me utterly speechless and heartbroken. Silent Hill is a great game throughout, but this scene alone brings it to masterpiece status. Everything from the movement to the music is perfectly executed and ended up as something I will never forget.

The town of Silent Hill has the ability to create SENTIENT LIFE, so who's to say some of these monsters aren't also terrified of this entire situation. Imagine waking up and realizing that your entire body is wrapped in skin and the only way you can call for help is by spitting acid through a gash in your chest.
Yes, SH has that sort of power. However, it's possible that these manifested beings exist only within Fog/Otherworld reality. It's a bit ambiguous though, since James supposedly leaves the town WITH Maria in one of the SH2 endings

My mom died this year after fighting cancer and...I used to like the SH games so much for their depressing psychological horror and I related to the sad mood of songs like this one; but now my nightmares and some memories feel as if they'd fit right in and I never thought this strong feeling of twisted fate and doom which SH inspires would ever feel this real to me

Its been 10 years since ive seen any of my best friends. I haven't spoken to them in over 10 years. As time moves on, ive started to forget what they look like, sound like. Lisa's story has always broken me. The way she realizes she's a "monster" too is so hurtful as she tries to wordlessly beg for comfort in a moment of pure distress. Lisa wasn't truly a monster, she was a broken woman used by those who should've helped her instead.

As a five year old kid who's watching his dad and his brother play Silent Hill, I could never understand why they couldn't save her. And when I played it for myself, I was devastated at the fact that there's nothing you can do to save her.

Everyday I hope I’ll see the tommorow, a next day. I’ve been battling this disease since I turned 19. I can’t even stop it or prevent once it‘ll burst and gives me inner bleeding. Doctors cannot help me because it’s too high risk of bursting and gives me inner bleeding (it’s a 7 cm of very thin skin in my main artery, the risk of exploding is already at around 4,5 cm) Only thing I can do is just stay calm, never get angry, carry anything and just hope doctors will soon help me out. They did say they may be able to replace it with a plastic alternative. But until then I just wish I could stay fine I will try and update this comment in the near future. Everyone stay safe
I can relate to Lisa a bit. I’m a nurse, and an addict, who was introduced to drugs by a violent sociopath. I’m free from him now but the trauma remains and I don’t know how to save myself.

I just don't know how to describe that moment fully. Sad, scary, ugly... traumatic? It was one of the most horrible things I'd ever seen in a game. I couldn't do anything to stop it. I was so helpless and so was she, and she begged for help I couldn't give... it horrified me.
I played through the first SH a month and a half ago and I was using a guide since I've never played it before, thankfully it was cryptic enough to not spoil anything major, but I did not expect what happened to Lisa to happen. To listen to her cry out from behind the door only to go in and see she's no longer anywhere to be found was... haunting, to say the very least. Man, what an incredible game...

I think the lesson when Lisa pulls Kaufman back into the distortion is that Kaufman might have made the right decision when he decided to help at the end, but he was still a sinner, and to me, that’s one of the more heartbreaking moments in all of the game.

Lisa's story has always broken me. The way she realizes she's a "monster" too is so hurtful as she tries to wordlessly beg for comfort in a moment of pure distress. Lisa wasn't truly a monster, she was a broken woman used by those who should've helped her instead.

Bueno, por experiencia puedo decir que, al menos hasta donde he visto, la canción es usada más que nada con creepypastas que no solo traten del terror en sí, sino que tengan historias más desoladoras y deprimentes, con las cuales la canción sí que pega bien. La Explicación Menos Satisfactoria y el Origen de Kagome Kagome son unos ejemplos de ello.
Concuerdo, igual hay ciertos soundtracks de Silent Hill que son más deprimentes que aterradores, o relajantes. Ejemplo, The Day Of Night de SH2, Restless Dream de SH2, Resting Comfortably de SH4, Breeze In Monochrome Night de SH3, White Noiz de SH2, Heavens Night de SH2, este soundtrack del SH1, aunque en general SH2 es el juego que más soundtracks deprimentes usa

I remember my first playing this game and hearing this tune. It was during winter break of my freshman year in college and I was experiencing depression for the first time. This tune resonated with me as it just seemed to describe my whole mindset and feeling.

This song is like life itself. Mostly sad, but with the small signs of happiness and hope.
Lisa is a wound in my heart that never healed 22 years later. Lisa Garland is my very first encounter with a character that you can never save no matter what you do. As a five year old kid who's watching his dad and his brother play Silent Hill, I could never understand why they couldn't save her. And when I played it for myself, I was devastated at the fact that there's nothing you can do to save her.
The utter power silent hill has to make these somber songs instead of scary ones is amazing. Akira is a genius for making this music

Mixed with the second ending to the game where you have to kill every enemy and get hit by each of them at least once where Heather kill Douglas and goes off to leave Silent Hill.

Everyday I hope I’ll see the tommorow, a next day. I’ve been battling this disease since I turned 19. I can’t even stop it or prevent once it‘ll burst and gives me inner bleeding. Doctors cannot help me because it’s too high risk of bursting and gives me inner bleeding (it’s a 7 cm of very thin skin in my main artery, the risk of exploding is already at around 4,5 cm)
Only thing I can do is just stay calm, never get angry, carry anything and just hope doctors will soon help me out. They did say they may be able to replace it with a plastic alternative. But until then I just wish I could stay fine

I never played silent hill but somehow my old classical piano teacher made me learn this song about 12 years ago. She probably thought ah young guys and theur videogames and searched for a video game song to learn...... After 12 years it is still my favorite song to play

Silent Hill music is so good that even when used in memes, people will eventually ask where the song is from and eventually fall into an Akira Yamaoka rabbit hole.
I just don't know how to describe that moment fully. Sad, scary, ugly... traumatic? It was one of the most horrible things I'd ever seen in a game. I couldn't do anything to stop it. I was so helpless and so was she, and she begged for help I couldn't give... it horrified me.
I have so many sad memories with this soundtrack. Yet, I find comfort in listening to it.

I played through the first SH a month and a half ago and I was using a guide since I've never played it before, thankfully it was cryptic enough to not spoil anything major, but I did not expect what happened to Lisa to happen. To listen to her cry out from behind the door only to go in and see she's no longer anywhere to be found was... haunting, to say the very least. Man, what an incredible game...

This will never not be the most effective song in Silent Hill. The entire franchise all comes back to this song for me. A reminder that deep down Silent Hill is not just a horror story. It's a tragedy that keeps repeating to so many that can't find their way out of their own purgatory.
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it in my first playthrough of Silent Hill so long ago.

I think the lesson when Lisa pulls Kaufman back into the distortion is that Kaufman might have made the right decision when he decided to help at the end, but he was still a sinner, and to me, that’s one of the more heartbreaking moments in all of the game.
