Have you ever been on a cruise before? What was the food like? This was both of our first times on a European cruise. We didn't know what to expect, but we knew we wanted to try all of the food! haha If you enjoyed this video, you may like: We Survived a Week on the WORST RATED BUDGET CRUISE! Remember all your food was likely made and served to you by staff who are paid penuts as normal EU payments agreements do not normally aplay to your cruise ship despite you are traveling in the Med. It is in martime terms and in legal terms called a flag of convience - but at least you got feed - a of people around the Med did not tonight.
We were on Costa Smeralda Nov 2023. Group of 17 people. We purchased an interior room for less than 500 USD per person for a Mediterranean cruise from Savona to Rome. They upgraded us all to balcony! The cruise was awesome. There was always a show every night. Plenty of things to do onboard. The ports of call include Barcelona, Marseille, Palma de Mallorca and Palermo. Plenty of food options onboard. We tried one of their specialty restaurants and the service was top notch! I know about the Costa Concordia fiasco prior to booking this cruise but I still gave this cruiseline a try. I’m so glad I did.
This was so fun to watch! Also, that view from the bedroom was stunning! I hope you guys are gonna do more cruises! 😊 And I’m also team dessert, haha! 😊
I've never been on a cruise but I feel like coordinating the meal time with avoiding crowds and lines would cause me a lot of stress! Haha! You guys did great and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the culinary options! Deana's dessert obsession is adorable 🥰🥰
If you don't want to deal w/ crowds and lines, there are restaurants where you can make a reservation for every meal but they usually cost extra. There's also room service. On some ships, it costs extra too. I sailed Holland America. The room service was included w/ the cruise.
Lunar New Year is a Asien thing only if the news weren't speaking about "Chinese New Year" 99% of people would not evee know when it is. With it it's only 80% that don't know that ;)
I have been loving your videos lately! I always have but more so now, they seem so much more. I am going to Italy next week for the first time and I am even more excited now:) Hope you both are having a wonderful time traveling
You guys are so perfect. With such a different group of passengers onboard, how did the staff handle all the different languages. I noticed Phil's menu was in English. Danke.🤗
i would be interested to hear and see what you thought about the crusie overall…. we were just recently on an MSC trasnatlantic… and the food was horrible… zero entertainment! and management just didn’t care about the guests at all … the workers were amazing though!
Oh interesting with MSC! We are not really "cruise people" this was both of our first European Cruise and we plan on making a video of the overall experience. We'd love to hear about your experiences! We see your videos pop up sometimes! We'd love to meet up if we're ever in the same city/country! haha :D
Cruising seems to be a nice experience after all, never really thought about it, I'm so used to go by car or plane on holiday. A bit scared by sea sickness though. But the food looks amazing. By the way: love all the italian videos so far and the quality of the videos is amazing 😄 always rooting for you guys to be able to keep making these amazing videos 🤘
Cruise ships have very good stabilizers, so it takes a fair bit of rough sea or wind before passengers even notice it. If still being worried, bring anti seasickness medicine so you're prepared just in case. So with that in mind, don't be afraid to try a cruise if you feel like it could be a nice vacation
i went on a four day cruise to nowhere once and not only was 80% of the food free so was room service which had a limited menu of about ten items but, you can order three of the things you like or even more it was all included. This was also the case for dinner which stunned me when i asked the waiter which meal i should have between a porterhouse steak with scalloped potatoes with steamed veggies on the side, or the seafood risotto which had everything you could want in it, it was like a meal for four, and the waiter said , Order them both, and if you see something that someone else is eating and want one of those too, just ask.. All of the food in the buffets and party areas even the pool had a burger bar you could swim up to and sit on a stool in the pool and eat at was all free. there were just three pay to eat at famous chef restaurants onboard but i cannot imagine needing more than what i had and then paying for it instead of free. As i was watching your video when Deana found her spot to read on the ship it looked exactly like where i sat to read on my cruise. It was so beautiful being at sea though i found myself just staring out at the sea and the sky. I met and talked to a few of the crew and listened to their stories and really enjoyed meeting them more than the other passengers. o and thats another thing, that ship was so huge and nothing was crowded but dinner but dinner was so well staffed that we never had to wait long to be served and zero wait to be seated. I was also invited to the captains party one night which was before dinner in a room outside of the dining room. They had waitstaff circulating with tiny versions of all sorts of cocktails and horderves and if you saw a tray that you liked you could ask for them to give you the whole tray and they would for free. I bought three drinks during the 4 day cruise and they were all the drink of the day and they were two dollars for a foot tall drink in a commemorative glass that not only could you keep it, but when you finished drinking it they would take it from you, scan your wrist band and then it would arrive with the staff that cleans the room cleaned and wrapped in paper in a storage box ready to take home. It was a Celebrity Ship and it cost me about $300 plus i tipped at the end for all of the service and hospitality another $150. But many tipped $50 which i thought was awful. All together me and my roommate tipped $450. But she had money and really wanted to give the staff a smile. This was around the year 2000 but from what i have read the prices are not that much more expensive. and the free everything is still the same on their cruises.
Costa cruise food has detiriated so much in the past ten years,, What used to be in the main dining room of Sirloin steak/Salmon is now Spag bol, Carbonara, all pasta dishes, nothing to do with Italian style it is because Pasta is a quarter the price of Pime meats You can go to specialist dining rooms at an extra £20 pppm for meats and fish
I usually find the buffets better than the specialty restaurants. Because at least on the buffet you have so much to choose from. But that pistachio dessert did look excellent
Interesting video. I can only travel vicariously, so I enjoyed that. The range of choices for breakfast was impressive. I was a bit surprised it was such a struggle to find a table to enjoy cafeteria meals. Complete agreement about food waste. Some people are just a bit foolish about wanting to try everything, but most probably some other people just don't care, which is wrong. Chocolate chips on pancakes??!? Never heard of that and, um, no. But to each their own.
Yeah, Costa and MSC would be my last choices if going on a cruise. They both just have too questionable reputation either due to incidents or poor customer service (or both) Costa has the Costa Concordia fiasco, not sure how they are when it comes to service and such. MSC is notorious for meh food at best in the complimentary venues, language issues, being overly crowded and packed with children and poor service (the latter is really not the crew's fault, I think they're just understaffed in the relation to number of passengers) Both cruiselines are budget lines, and the general consensus I've seen from cruise content creators, is that you often get what you pay for... It fits some people of course and MSC has stunning ships if you like a lot of bling and it can be a good cruiseline if you don't mind crowds or noise and don't care about how the food is onboard and just want a cheap getaway with a lot of freedom (unlike most or all other cruiselines, MSC doesn't have a set day for embarkation and disembarkation, people can take a longer or shorter cruise so theres passengers embarking or disembarking in every port call. The norm for cruises is a set itinerary where all passengers embark and disembark on the same days)
Wow!! Now I know why many of our friends who do cruises say they gain weight. The food looked amazing and what a test for self-control which I would fail. Cannot wait to see your next video to see what other activities are available besides eating. 🤣
yes, an important question ! if it really is only 50€ all inclusive, and all year round, this would be 1500€ per month, and how much would such meals cost per day in a normal restaurant ? when subtracting that much excellent food from the total price, the cabin was almost for free, in contrast to my appartment at home ... no wonder that there are people who live on a cruise ship permanently instead of a senior residence (if health permits), if it really is that cheap.
I don’t like crowds so usually take small ship cruises, but for great food I go on Costa, I only eat in the dining rooms though, buffets are simply too crowded for me.
I've never been on a cruise but my DD-214 says I have been underwater for 365 days on submarines 🙂 Costa would be on my list because they use a good flag, Italian flag, instead of Flag of Convenience like most cruise lines (including European ones like MSC). Plus it would be easier for me to afford, lol. 🙂
Looks like a good deal for an inexpensive cruise. I love how they serve everything for you instead of the traditional germ-swapping buffet. Lol. Too bad the food wasn't better. I guess you get what you pay for? 11:53 mark: Absolutely! Why take so much food when you know you can't eat it all? I hate waste like that.
Would you do a Malaga tour??? It's a perfect walking city. Food is good, a nice cinema, a big hill to traverse ending in a kind of fort. A perfect walking city = maybe a 400.000 city population, but you can get around nearly everywhere just using your legs.
Yes you do have viewers in UK…? Well me born in Poland then after university long time in the states and now enjoying breezy life in Edinburgh Scotland so yeah love your videos and if you ever in Edinburgh hope to meet both of you:) Amazing video as always
Lots of Pasta lot's of fish tiny salads ! If you want Pizza or Burger you must pay - The guys in the restaurant has no clue how to make a ceaser salad ! Think that's ugly wait till you see the water policy - they have dispensers for water but they switch them off when the restaurant is not working and always warn that ship don't alow you to fill bottles of water even tho you already have drink's package. You are given 1 bottle of water a day 500ml rest you must either buy or ask for a glass of water every time you are thirsty !
Lots of cruise vlogs are so delicate and careful with their towel animals. I love seeing Phil decapitate yours. That was fun. Fun seeing you guys on a cruise. Regular cruise vloggers are so deeply into cruising. It's hard to know if they are indoctrinated or really objective about costs and experience. Cruise indoctrinated? Anyway . . .
Ok, let's face the dirty truth. I would get fat aboard this ship. I can't express how jealous I am of you and this wonderful food. But, I begrudge you with all my heart. I wish you continued bon appetit.👌
We have done more than 55 cruises, two of them with Costa. The last in December 2023. I can only say never never again!!!! We live in Europe and get all those super low price Costa ads. Flying to Italy, France or Spain is so easy and does not add much to the already low prices of a cruise with Costa. Will we cruise with them again??? B E W A R E The food was lousy - if you could get a seat at all of the many overrun eating places. Lots of the restaurants are at extra costs, making the ones that are included in the fare way too crowded. You have to know that mediterranean people love to gather for food, moving tables together for 8, 10 and even more, loving to sit together for a long time after the meal and discussing the worlds problems, finally to leave a completely messy area behind when moving on. The line ups for getting into the restaurants are significant. Sometimes they even close the doors and send you to another venue! Plus nobody is interested in washing their hands, crew is not enforcing it and couldn't care less. Everything is loud, noisy and rude. We invested in a balcony cabin. Big mistake... Couldn't enjoy it because of people smoking like chimneys on their balconies next door. Entertainment was mediocre, if you could get in and get a seat! Etc etc etc. I could still go on.... So you really want to waste your hard earned money and throw it into their throat??? Okay. Do it. You will regret it. The whole cruise long.
Greetings from Finland! I love buffets in ferries/cruise ships. From Finland you can go to Sweden from three different cities (Helsinki, Turku and Vaasa) and i just love the see food buffets. There is so much of a seafood in starters 😍😋. Starters are mostly cold except boiled potatoes. Of course the main dishes are warm, but i usually eat those yammy starters so much that there ain´t much of room for main dishes or desserts. You can also bet beer, white and red wines from the tap as much as you want to drink. Last time i were going on low budget to Sweden to my aunts funeral so i didn´t go to the buffet. It would cost 55€ to eat in there so i took something less expencive and i also had three boiled eggs that i took with me from home to the trip. While comming back to Finland i took a little bar tour at night and ended up to eat kebeb with sallad. It costed 18€ at the night time and were little bit of a disappointment for the value. There also goes ferries from Helsinki to Tallin, Estonia. I just haven´t visited there even that i really should go there some time.
No "lady like" bites here🤭 would have like to see/hear some info on the pricing. Or quick map view even on paper where it went? Too many people 😮, cool hand washers.
You mentioned this is the cheapest cruise you guys found for Mediterranean but fail to list what you guys paid for the cruise. So wow much was the cruise for the 2 of you guys?
The food seems really good, but the crowded buffet restaurants would make me instantly turn around and run away. Even the more decent "special" restaurants with reservations seem quite noisy.
Have you ever been on a cruise before? What was the food like? This was both of our first times on a European cruise. We didn't know what to expect, but we knew we wanted to try all of the food! haha

No cruises for me. I would look green like the hulk
I am going to this ship in the summer holiday. allready in 3 month

I cannot believe that cruise was only $50 a night including food. What a bargain. I would be on there all the time❤

Hahaha, Deanna describing a dish as not too shabby is the most German thing ever.
Great video as always guys ;)
We were on the Costa Firenze in September, and we really enjoyed the food in the main dining room
Man, I just wanted to say that you guys' thumbnails have been looking SO good! Really like what yall are doing 👍🏻
Thanks!! We're trying to switch it up and improve!
This was so fun to watch! Also, that view from the bedroom was stunning! I hope you guys are gonna do more cruises! 😊 And I’m also team dessert, haha! 😊

From your Canadian fan, bakes beans are popular for breakfast in the province of Quebec and parts of Ontario. So the brits are not alone. :)
Ohhh interesting. good to know! We'll have to include parts of Canada for the baked bean breakfasts next time!
Go British Columbia 🎉
Not sure if you guys celebrate but happy lunar new year all the same! Your videos always emanate Gemuetlichkeit and I'm thankful for that ❤

you two are the cutest couple on UA-cam - great content too 🎉😂❤

OK. So you got me subscribed for the baked beans. ☺️👌
I enjoy your opinions. Your are honest yet kind.
Damn...that cruise was a "steal"!!! Great review guys! Thanks!
Costa looks good. I knew Phil would love the dining Nice mama came along.
Mama coming along is one of the main reasons we booked this trip!
The bites on the fork (close up) look so big, and then Deana fits it right into her mouth. haha! Thanks for the video. Hope you had fun!
I love experiencing the world of food through your videos!
Love your videos so much! Thank you for uploading
Too funny! For the Queen's people - now the King's people!
I had no clue there were cruises this affordable. It looks great!
You guys are so perfect. With such a different group of passengers onboard, how did the staff handle all the different languages. I noticed Phil's menu was in English. Danke.🤗
The crew speaking so many languages was one of the most impressive things on this cruise!
🙄 That’s what we do in Europe. I speak 5 languages daily.
Always so informative and makes me hungry!! 😋
I would want to try all of the different pasta of the day if it's an Italian cruise!
All of them Meals also Desserts looks Delightfully Delicious 😋🍽😋🍽
I'm British and love watching you two!😊
The restaurant at the back would be amazing view during a storm with large waves
just came back from a 30-day cruise, after two weeks of cruise food we were so happy to have local food at every port.
Enjoy every thing and have a super duper time 😊😊 see in the next vlog
When I hear "Costa Cruises" the first thing that comes to mind is still Francesco Schettino and the Costa Concordia ...
i would be interested to hear and see what you thought about the crusie overall…. we were just recently on an MSC trasnatlantic… and the food was horrible… zero entertainment! and management just didn’t care about the guests at all … the workers were amazing though!

Deana you read my mind! I was wondering where the desserts where 😅
hehe! I'm glad someone is with me! Phil says we need nutrients in our meals... ughh! haha
i went on a four day cruise to nowhere once and not only was 80% of the food free so was room service which had a limited menu of about ten items but, you can order three of the things you like or even more it was all included.

It's so good to see you both again!!
I dont know if you mentionned it but there's also kind of team Tea time between 4pm to 5pm . It's a sort of buffet
You Two are powerful duo. ! Greetings from Pomerania
Deanna, I am with you if I could order dessert for dinner I would! So fun!😊💗
You can order just dessert on cruise ships. They are happy to bring you anything you want.
Costa cruise food has detiriated so much in the past ten years,, What used to be in the main dining room of Sirloin steak/Salmon is now Spag bol, Carbonara, all pasta dishes, nothing to do with Italian style it is because Pasta is a quarter the price of Pime meats

I'm a brit and love baked beans
i fullyx understand people who dont eat breakfast i onlyx eat between 12 to 18 a clock
Thanks for this. Looks fantastic. Some of those dishes don't look so approachable for kids. Was there a more basic kids menu?
I like Phil's new hairdo!
Ithink waiting for the highlights of the day/meals is way cozier on a cruise than in the hospital 😄
Happy Valentine’s Day 💙🩷🫶🫶

can't believe what huge bites she takes!
The shipping company "Costa" has been on everyone's lips in Europe since the sinking of the "Costa Concordia".
Captain wanted to wave to his Mum or something 😮. That might be why it's 50€ pppn...🤔.
Yeah, Costa and MSC would be my last choices if going on a cruise. They both just have too questionable reputation either due to incidents or poor customer service (or both)

Those poor people died within view of shore and in survivable water temps. I'll never take a cruise.
The ship went down. The captain went up.
@@DT-wp4hk The ship didn't sink. It ended on its side in shallow water.
Wow!! Now I know why many of our friends who do cruises say they gain weight. The food looked amazing and what a test for self-control which I would fail. Cannot wait to see your next video to see what other activities are available besides eating. 🤣
What’s the German way for your bed blankets 😊
You two made the days at sea look bearable 😂Early bird definitely gets the worm 👍
50€ per night? I didn't think you could get a cruise ship this cheap, is that some fill-up last minute price?
yes, an important question !
if it really is only 50€ all inclusive, and all year round, this would be 1500€ per month, and how much would such meals cost per day in a normal restaurant ?

no wonder that there are people who live on a cruise ship permanently instead of a senior residence (if health permits), if it really is that cheap.
Nice review. Never seen hand washingstation in th Us😊😊
I wish my stomach were big enough to make it worth paying for a "eat as much you want" buffee. That food looked really good ;-)
I don’t like crowds so usually take small ship cruises, but for great food I go on Costa, I only eat in the dining rooms though, buffets are simply too crowded for me.

Hey guys, we are watching from the UK. Surely other people must eat baked beans for breakfast? It can't be just be us! 😂
Yeah, some in western USA eat baked beans or pork and beans for breakfast. BUT they are LEFTOVERS from dinner!
Sweet couple stay blessed ❤
Ciao, many greetings from brunswick in germany and please stay safe 🙃
Looks pretty awesome for the cheapest choice!
Btw Phil are you trying to grow a mullet?😉
Did they have Speisequark zum Fruehstuck?
It looks beautiful the buffet looks a lot like a casino buffet in the United States. They look almost exactly the same❤
Hi guys I love your videos ❤
Should we pay for water?
Wow! 50 euros a night?
Great content u always make me laugh 😊 ✌ 🇬🇧 ❤
Oh my gosh! The food was horrendous on our cruise in the Caribbean. I'll say fruit cocktail and spaghetti o😅

We live in Europe and get all those super low price Costa ads. Flying to Italy, France or Spain is so easy and does not add much to the already low prices of a cruise with Costa.
Will we cruise with them again???

The food was lousy - if you could get a seat at all of the many overrun eating places.
I heard that they have also the cheapest captains - always leaves first XD
I love the cruise ship food
Ich vermisse denn Strame Max
Phil... you and your ptatoes... you crack bem up!
Love your videos 🙂🇩🇰👍
How much weight did you two gain on this trip? 😅
No "lady like" bites here🤭 would have like to see/hear some info on the pricing. Or quick map view even on paper where it went? Too many people 😮, cool hand washers.
Phil loves his potatoes!!
Do the staff speak English on the ship?
I was wondering what Daniel Radcliffe was doing writing Cruise Ship Reviews.
Pancakes in the morning its a USA thing in Scotland Pancakes are a dessert 😂😂 I would still eat them though nice content guys
Looking very nice.😊
You mentioned this is the cheapest cruise you guys found for Mediterranean but fail to list what you guys paid for the cruise. So wow much was the cruise for the 2 of you guys?
The food seems really good, but the crowded buffet restaurants would make me instantly turn around and run away. Even the more decent "special" restaurants with reservations seem quite noisy.
An einem Buffet will ich mich selbst bedienen. Das würde mich echt wahnsinnig machen.
cant get cheaper than costa msc for ocean cruising; arosa nicko viva croisi in rivers ; most common feature english is not main language;
