We met Sonny and Hoa on this cruise. Extremely nice couple, friendly, approachable, and funny! I had never heard of him prior but watching this video…he is very genuine and very much like this in person. Congrats on your success and it was a pleasure meeting you both and hanging out with the penguins!!

I worked offshore for 8 years pretty much all maritime crew and galley staff were Filipino.
They keep the maritime world running and are some of the hardest working people I have been lucky enough to work next to.
I wish the industry would treat them the way they deserve, instead of a cheap captive labour force.
We used to do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. I could go home between multiple shifts working with the same Filipinos that may have been onboard for up to a year without a break. Offshore it's 12 hours a day 7 days a week no days off.

Minimum I do is $5 maximum depends on how I feel🤣 I once tipped a guy $100 for $40 meal cause I feel I should. Only one of the restaurants charged for the food, and it was caviar (with vodka), lobster, foie gras, lamb, truffles, berries - the works.
Also, the money was for more than a week in that nice room, with impeccable room service, plenty of booze and snacks, fresh fruit and ice everyday, a multi-service touch screen. Also, entertainment, including a scientific conference, trivia games, a cosmetics demonstration - all of that scheduled for one single day. The next video is about excursions.
All of that in the vicinity of Antarctica, in a boat with as many crew as passengers.
Yes, it is expensive, but it is worthwhile.

    • @gray8640
      @gray8640 6 місяців тому

@@DrZedd169 Well it's the ONLY restaurant that charges at all and I'm guessing there aren't many $40,000 rooms, if I'd have to guess, usual cruises with the same quality can cost anywhere between $2,500 to $8,000 on a budget. Now antarctica isn't exactly the trendiest place to be, with how little interest in comparison to other cruisers in hotter and more popular places, you'd have to probably go out with $10,000+ minimum. This isn't the same btw, the cruise in the video after a google search is one that houses 200+ passangers and costs a shit ton of money, the cheapest rooms are $15,000. (I'm not sure I found the right one but I think I did.)

The people who make it to Antarctica are exclusive bunch, you either got to have excess money or a scientist. Normal cruise ship can't go through the drake passage as the sea can be very rough, and the danger of hitting iceberg is real so they have smaller ship (icebreaker?). Glad to see Sonny got to live it up and enjoy a nice honeymoon with his wife. But maybe help people who are in need with their extra money instead of wasting it on such a short trip (kids in mountainous region, poor people in Vietnam). BTW, I do enjoy this new channel more, there's an edge to it.

UK bacon is part loin and part belly. American bacon is all belly (called streaky bacon in the UK) Muesli is basically a unbaked version of granola often with less sugar. Most granola's in the UK have been baked with a coating of added sugar, honey or maple/syrup.

I absolutely love your videos and follewed your culinary adventures of many counties, so when i say this i only want to make the viewing experience for everyone a bit nicer:
The music is this video was quite prominent and loud at times
Sometimes the volume fade down was a few seconds to late, so that the loud music and Voice over seemd to overlap
    Love from Germany :)

positive criticism: i noticed the music playing in videos are becoming more and more hectic. i used to love it before (months ago), now it sounds rushed, forced, and hectic. it disturbs the flow of the video. music on your videos used to be an extension of the content now it sounds so forced to the point where i have to turn it all the way down to get through it :( its not too bad in this one, but on some other videos its so awful. i truly care that's the only reason im sharing this with you :) i follow both channels.

This is a HUGE Mandela Effect for me. ** Just years ago while going down a rabbit hole about Antarctica there were no tourists permitted there. Now I see there are luxury lodges, camping in wildlife areas (what wildlife? There was no wildlife either) , and of course this cruise line as well as others. I’m telling you this was absolutely not the case seven years ago on my timeline. Now there’s even a guy who makes videos from there and posts here on UA-cam.
Hide your drinking? Wealthy people drink not at all or a lot. Mostly a lot. 😂😂😂 I have to say they are not rowdy like us regular folks. Mostly a lot of talk about politics wandering in history, then ancient teaching and spirituality. I was not rich, but my exes family is and I’ve had many incredible vacations thanks to their generosity. And listened to many crazy stories, many I am not permitted to share.
** Don’t bother trying to tell me it’s bs, it’s not your life, don’t worry about it. 😂

It's Worth it. I worked in a cruise before. Each staff has to work almost 10 - 12 hours a day without a day off for 3 weeks. They only allowed shore leaves when docking, if the staff on good behaviour. Of course, they also get a handsome salary too. The accumulated leaves will earn a month or two to go back home to their own country. There are pros and cons working on cruises especially hard for married people. 😅
