It does annoy me that protestant bibles can be $10 but not for Catholics.
Comparative Protestant Bible are the same price.
I like that it’s genuine fake leather, and not fake fake leather!
I'm not real fond of the cross-references taking space away from the note-taking area. I like my notes to be more or less right beside the Bible verse. With the Bible text going all the way to the bottom of the page and the note-taking area only going part way down the page, you can't have your notes align with the text. They should have put the cross-references across the bottom to allow the text and note-taking areas to match.
Ok, right off the bat you 0:44 got me with “Genuine Imitation Leather. That’s pretty funny.
I found a guy on Etsy who makes Bible covers. I sent him dimensions and he made an awesome dark brown vegetable tanned leather for this Bible. It fits “like a glove.” If interested I’ll send you a picture what it looks like and the vendor. It was $80 for the cover.
Could you make a video on it? Thank you.
I would love to see a photo! You can email me editorjlb @ gmail.com
@@JeffBurden I’ll send over later today. Thanks.
Thank you for this great review! Thanks to your video I am now thinking of buying this Bible to go along with Fr. Mike Schmitz’s The Catechism in a year podcast next year.
It would be perfect for it!
Great review. I bought the same one for my wife last night. I’m thinking about getting it too. I use the GAAB and doing Fr Mike Bible in a Year. It’s the same translation and I appreciate the note taking option on this one. I chuckled at the “genuine imitation leather” description.
PS are you in a zoo?
Great review, brother. Subscribed. Incidentally, since the price point here seems to be about the same at various retailers, for those who try to avoid that behemoth of a place named after a river, it can also be purchased directly from the University of Notre Dame via their online bookshop. But huge props for recommending getting it straight from the publisher as well. God bless.
I truly love this Bible! It’s beautiful, feels great, paper is wonderful, font is nice… It’s an amazing Bible. Thanks for the review on it.
You’re welcome! It’s still one of my favorites!
What is font size ?? Ty ...
The only problem i have is no red letter
I do love red letters!
I just don’t like the lines. Give me a plain, wide margin.
Thank you for the great review and showing us what’s under the hood! That is exactly what I’m am looking for!! Please take care of you!! GBY!!
Thanks for the review. I know you mentioned you were not happy about the imitation leather. May I ask if imitation leather will peel or crack over time? Is this why you don't like it?
Nice review; I rather like the look of this.
Is it my imagination, or do I hear a budgie or parakeet or the like, in the background? Because I have that issue when I'm recording here.
Yeah it’s obnoxious. I’ll usually try to move them from the room before I start recording but forgot to do so here. haha
@@JeffBurden sounds like home to me. Many of my own videos feature that too-loud-to-be-real chirping and screeching.
Again, very nice review of what looks to be a fine bible.
Thanks for this video, Jeff. Is the text of this bible anglicized?
You are welcome. It is not.
When Jesus speaks is it in red?
No, all black text
Great review!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video! What kind of pen did you use for notes? Ball point, felt tip, etc.? I just bought this for my husband as he mentioned wanting to take notes in a Bible. He is a no-frills guy so I'd like to just go with a basic black one if possible.
Never mind, I just heard you say "ball point." Lol
@@jenniferberry8253 - Yeah, he'll really like it! The paper is fantastic!
Not sure if it's a new thing with Catholics but I was taught to never mark up a bible. This practice could be a carryover of those who converted from Protestant to Catholicism. For whatever reason Catholics (not all of course) don't delve into the bible like Protestants. We get our readings (get fed) from the Daily Missal and Liturgy of the Hours if you're into that.
We’re all supposed to be “into that” according to Vatican II. Pretty recently I started a Bible study and it’s been incredibly enriching to my faith. It is our Book after all.
