@@jesusdiazzz6369 Which truth? And on what basis do you make the claim that Catholicism is fake Christianity?

    • @dakota9862

@@jesusdiazzz6369 Catholics pray to Mary to ask her to pray for us to God. It's no more idolatry than asking a living Christian to pray for you.
Catholics don't believe Mary will give us salvation. They believe that salvation comes by accepting the grace of God and carrying out the will of the Father on Earth.
They don't worship the statues. They (the statues) serve primarily aesthetic purposes. However, just from my own experience, it's incredibly helpful when praying the rosary to have these things around. For example, it helps when I'm meditating on the sorrowful mysteries to look at a crucifix. This is not worshipping the crucifix, only using it as an aid in my worship of God. To my knowledge (and I've not yet gone through RCIA so I'm relying almost entirely on the Bible and various online resources to make this claim) there's nothing sinful about that.
As for the commandment, I don't know enough about that to have a point. I'd like to point out though that if it is true that the Catholic church changed one of the Ten Commandments to justify their use of religious art, it pales in comparison to Martin Luther removing seven books from the Old Testament and attempting to remove at least three more from the New Testament.

The book “The Warning” changed my life. I was a Catholic that had been away from the church, was living a very sinful life (I lived in fornication for 11 years, had a 10 and 8 year old with no baptisms no sacraments.) I was blind from sin and reading the testimonies of the 10 people in this book really took the scales off my eyes to see the sins the life that I was living was not pleasing to God and now I am married through the church I have 4 children they’re all baptized the two older ones have all their sacraments we go to church every Sunday we try to pray the rosary every day and my life is a lot better now. I was very suicidal before and my depression is pretty much gone. The author Kristine Watkins is convert herself. She hated Jesus and Mary’s names before she converted! So for her to write this book says a lot! Also there’s prophecies from saints and mystics of the illumination of conscious that they believe will happen in our lifetime and we must prepare our souls for it! It’s so good! Please please read it!

The Life of Christ by Fulton Sheen I love this book to read on its own as well as a way to deepen meditative prayer or meditation while praying the rosary. He does such an awesome job digging into the gospels and poetically painting the life of Christ for the reader. It’s thick and can be intimidating, but I highly recommend a chapter a day read alongside the corresponding gospel chapters/verses.

Abby, I second your opinion on "Life of Christ," it's one of my absolute favorite books - I've read it twice before and am reading it again for Lent this year! Fulton Sheen writes so eloquently and beautifully, and with so much insight. "Life of Christ," like most of his writings and talks, really does feel like he was under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit when he wrote it. I've had so many enlightening moments while reading it, and it really has helped to bring me to a deeper understanding of the Gospel and a more intimate relationship with Christ :)

I love, love, love The Great Adventure Catholic Bible! Just got it last week I love the layout, the color codes on the pages, and the leather cover. The print layout is easy to read. It’s not a large print Bible, but it seems easier to read for my 61 y/o eyes. 😉 Jesus’ words are in red, and this helps, too. It’s also easy to hold when reading-some Bibles are not (like, they need to be placed on a table to read, or it wants to flip closed all the time, etc.). Also has two ribbons for bookmarks.

Have been reading the IC daily since I was 14, so, over 55 years. Chapter per day. Never gets old & always find something new in it. Received the Diary for Christmas, hoping to begin this summer. Love St. Therese’s work. She also wrote exquisitely beautiful poetry-great to pray with. Just to challenge myself, went through the entire CCC as a study. Took over a year but was well worth the effort. Thomas à Kempis also wrote a wonderful little book that is great for Lent, especially as one approaches Holy Week, entitled On the Passion of Christ (Ignatius Press).

A book all should read is "My Daily Bread - A Summary of the Spiritual Life" by Anthony J. Paone S.J. of the Confraternity of the Precious Blood. It's a must read for every Catholic. It starts with a section on "The Way of Purification". The second section is called "The Way of Imitation" and the final section is called "The Way of Union". Each of the sections are broken down in short chapters that begin with an example of the Lord speaking to you. Then a small personal reflection of yourself thinking about what the Lord just said to you. And finally a short prayer at the end of each chapter asking the Lord to help you and be with you to be the person He wants you to be. It is 430 pages long but once you begin reading it, you won't want to put it down. I am an active and practicing cradle Catholic involved in many ministries but once I started reading this book, it awakened me to things I never thought of before. It spoke to me in a way that no other book has affected me. It has helped me devote much more time to prayer, reading of scripture and yearning for my desire for a life in Heaven with the Lord. PLEASE, if you are seeking to grown in your faith and relationship with the Lord, read this book. You can usually find it at any Catholic book store or website. God Bless!

I enjoy reading “My Daily Bread” by Anthony J Pasone, S.J. - Confraternity of The Precious Blood.
They are such short chapters but include a message, a reflection and a short prayer. I find it helpful to read at night before bed or in the morning before my day begins as it brings peace to my soul.
I do want to read the Dairy of Saint Faustina in the near future as well as The Imitation of Christ.

    He and I
The diary of Gabrielle Bossis Gabrielle Bossis, a French nurse and playwright, as she hears the inner voice of Jesus in the core of her being. Recorded in her diary from 1936 to 1950, their tender exchanges capture Jesus's enduring presence in our daily lives.
And this one great also another diary. In Sinu Jesu: When Heart Speaks to Heart -- The Journal of a Priest at Prayer
Makes a great gift for your priest also!
Both books have the nihil obstat, Imprimatur.

Came across this just now and found it very interesting. A need of the hour for the present generation that gets hooked on to the mobile or tablet playing video games or watching all kinds of stuff leading away from Our Blessed Lord and Saviour.
I have sent this video to my extended family, and specifically to my Godchild who reads a lot but none of those recommended by you.
As for Jeff Cavins, I am following Fr. Mike Schmidt's Bible in a year and came to know of him and hear his talk with Fr. Mike. It has brought me or rather is bringing me closer and closer to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour.
    God bless you abundantly.

I recommend that Catholics cut their teeth on the Catechism of the Council of Trent first. It is so much more accessible and readable. Very short sections. I also recommend the new Catechism of the Catholic Church of course but it has more a reference book feel and is enormous. The Catechism of Trent was the basis of all catechetical material for 400 years. Countless saints and popes drew great fruit from it.

I think they did a better job back then unfortunately the new catechism, although an excellent idea to help deal with the confusion I think they did only a C minus job, covering the sacraments prayer and apologetics they had a golden opportunity to answer most of the protestant objections, showing where they are in the scripture how the catholic answers them and they didn’t do it instead we got a lot of words I don’t say too much. That’s why I wrote my small catechism called “a scriptural catechism.” it has sold quite well. I’m working on a bigger version though, but I can never reach the numbers with my little book that they can with theirs. Hopefully the catechism will be revised sometime down the road.

It’s just SO beautifully spoken, and when I listen to it, I really feel like Jesus is speaking directly to me because throughout the book, there’s a conversation going on between Jesus and his disciple. I love this book And I love the Hallow app as well … highly recommend them

I don't really have many Catholic books. I have one about the history of the religious habit of the nuns a book by Mother Angelica a book called a quiet place with Mary a book about the Rosary but Catholic Prayers compiled by Thomas A. Nelson has really helped me the past couple of days. My grandfather fell trying to get into the shower on Thursday night he was sickly to begin with Gramma Linda said that they said it wasn't the fall that killed him but the internal bleeding. He was the patriarch of the Wojciechowicz side of my family. My family that is Catholic. So the prayer book helped me a bit. He is going to laid to rest on Friday in St. Mary's cemetery.

Hi Catholic Mom! Try reading The Life of Mary as seen by the mystics by Raphael Brown. It's a compilation of private revelations and visions of 4 Catholic mystics. I sometimes pause for a while after reading one page and read it again. That's how interesting and informative (as far as I'm concerned) of her life from her birth to her assumption to Heaven. In fact it started from St. Ann and St. Joaquim's story. God bless ❤🙏🙏🙏
