Great review. By the way, the Anglicised text means that the spelling of some words is changed to reflect British/Canadian/Australia (etc) spelling, for example favour and honour instead of favor and honor, or realised instead of realized, so it is not actually changing the words, just the spelling
I watched this video years ago and ended up buying this Bible. Favorite Bible I've ever had, and the only one I've had as a Catholic, still use it! Thank you for making this video!
Wonderful channel! Thank you! Yes please tell us about your favorite translations, least favorite translations and why ... Compare and contrast please I would love that.
Great review thanks! Would you please consider reviewing the new ‘Ave Catholic Note taking Bible (RSV2CE) 2nd Catholic Edition’? It was published (in UK) April of 2021. It looks really nice but it’s quite expensive (for me as a single Mum anyways) so I’d love to see a review before I spend a lot. Many thanks 😊
Thank you forthe review. I have been curious about journaling bibles, but I didn’t think there were any Catholic ones. Yesterday I learned of one printed by OSV, but I haven’t found an inside look yet. Also, I love your illuminations! I’m a watercolorist and now I have inspiration to try out the gouaches I bought!
When you really start looking, you will be amazed at the difference in what is available to Protestants, and what is available tomCatholics... Protestsnts have so many options in so many areas. I am a Catholic convert....who spent several years working in avCatholic Zbookstore. Our selection of Bibles....and options for those Bibles was embarrassing...it still is..
I am reading The Great Adventure Bible & The Catechism of the Catholic both by Jeff Calvin’s (Asention Press) and love it. Find both interesting amd hooked. Although I should be journaling/ note taking I don’t. But I would do my notes 🗒️ on a seperate notebook 📒 because when I write something it takes up more than margin space. This a nice Bible and love the idea of note taking in the Bible itself. 22:48
You might want to look at some of the Bibles coming out of the UK. The newest is the Revised New Jerusalem Bible (which, despite the name, is no longer affiliated with the French school in Jerusalem) and its predecessors The Jerusalem Bible and The New Jerusalem Bible.
I hope to take a closer look at the entire Jerusalem Bible family in the future! Really fascination group of translations. I think the RNJB could be a great Bible if they revised the footnotes & perhaps released a wider range of covers etc
Sorry to revive this old comment, but I'm new to faith and want to buy my first Bible. Should I get the NRSV Catholic Edition, or the Revised New Jerusalem Bible?
All the "leathersoft" bibles I've gotten are immitation leather, including from this publisher, and are advertised as such even on amazon. I've had several start crumbling after just 4 or 5 years. In my experience, bonded leather bibles last much longer. It's a pity as many of these bibles only come in immitation leather "leathersoft/trutone etc" and the design on many is otherwise very nice. It's also disturbing that so many "bible publishers" advertise with misleading names like "alpha cowhide" etc.
Tks for your review. I was looking for a catholic journaling bible with the aprocryhea . Ordered one cannot wait for delivery 🚚. As a Christian I have other bibles that don’t have the extra books in the Bible . Tks again for review. They should have more Christian journaling bibles .
Yes I agree! This one is very nice to work in. The pages feel thin but handle media much better than I anticipated. I also hope to try out the Inspire Catholic Bible someday, which is another Catholic Journal Bible but one which has pre-existing designs worked in.
Catholic Bible Reviews oh yes I have the inspired Catholic bible for coloring, but not enough space for note taking or prayers . I also like the fire bible . Gospels ,. Good review. Cannot wait to get my hand on it when it’s out . Beautiful 🌈🇮🇪
I have one if these. I like it but was very disappointed that there were no maps. I believe all Bibles should have maps. So first Bible lve bought with no maps.
Methodist here and I am one who in past have not given the NRSV much thought other than I never considered it a reliable translation.(ignorance on my part). I am not looking to grab a copy. Would be interested on why you had a change of mind on the translation.
Thanks, the other bibles are nice but I'd really rather just see a good, solid review of the NRSV Catholic bible, I'm very interested in getting this bible, can you just show us the bible more in-depth?
Thank you for your review.. I had a question regarding the size of the print. I was going to place an order through Amazon but a lot of the comments say the print is very small.. what do you think? Compared to the Great Adventure Bible (which I have)?? Hope to hear from you 😷☺️ Thank you 🙏
I don't find the print to be small, but I do think that it's a little bit cramped. The lines are closer together and the letters sit closer together. The Great Adventure Bible to me, is one of the easiest Bibles to read. I will take a side by side photo of them and post it in my stories in Instagram (@ScriptureScribblr). If you want you can check it out there and see the side by side. 😊 I wish I could post pictures here! If you are reading a chapter or two at a time, I don't think it will be a problem. But if you are sitting down and reading 6 to 10 chapters at a sitting, I think your eyes will get a little exhausted. it's hard to say for sure because of course it's all relative but that's my impression.
@@catholicbiblereviews5581 Hi it's ME again 😷 I really want to get a note taking Bible I was looking at NRSV Catholic Bible Journal edition (thanks again for your review) and Catholic Notetaking Bible by Our Sunday Visitor but I can't seem to find a review on it.. have you had a chance to review that one? My main concerns are the print size and spacing. I really like your reviews 😊 maybe you can suggest a good notetaking Bible? Hope to hear from you soon 🙏✝️
@@marialozano6891 unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to see that one yet -- it's on the list though. I can also say that if you visit my IG I've been using a Little Rock Catholic Study Bible and I've been VERY impressed with the margin space, even if the pages are a bit thin. It's not quite as wide as something like the NRSV-CE Journal Edition but wide enough I'm able to take notes writing across the page, not up and down like in my Great Adventure. You can see it at instagram.com/scripturescribblr 👍
So the RSV was published in the 1950s as a revision of the ASV. It was part of an attempt to bring the Bible into a more modern and accessible language. The NRSV was an update of that version released in the late 80s. The NRSV really sought to be accessible to a wide range of Christian believers, but that aspect has perhaps been clouded by the decision for the translation to use gender accurate/neutral language. That's the broad strokes of it. RSV maintains "thee's" and "thou's" when referencing God. NRSV does not. NRSV maintains inclusive language when masculine words have been used to denote mixed-gendered groups or realities (i.e. human/mortal/person instead of "man" to denote a human person in general or all of humanity). RSV does not. I hope that helps a bit 😊
I prefer the RSV...because the Second Edition does the awkward gender neutral language. No thank you... The print looks pretty small...,I need large print... The Bibkd looks pretty nice... Does it come in a premium leather?
The Thinline edition of the NRSVACE is 10 point font, larger than the personal size and this journal edition. While the Large Print NRSVACE offered by Catholic Bible Press is a very readable 10.5 font.
It's pretty new, part of Thomas Nelson and Harper Collins. Everyone I've spoken with who has bought one so far has given great reviews. I'm still loving mine!

Be careful now, your translation maybe missing that verse. That’s another golden nugget only found in the KJV to prove God’s inerrancy and it shows how He preserved his word in universal language of the last days. The original manuscript can’t even produce such phenomena.

I would definitely be interested in hearing why you changed your views on the NRSV!
A review as amazing as your artwork! Thank you!
Your review helped me decide to purchase the Bible of my dreams.
I really like your art work. You have significant artistic talent.
You might also consider reviewing the new ESV-CE from the Augustine Institute. I believe it has been produced by the Indian Bishops' Conference.
Your artwork is beautiful! ☺️
