  • We can make ourselves sick emotionally and even physically when we try to 'fix' or 'heal' the people in our lives. This can be if they have an addiction such as alcoholism, or any other behavior that is harming them. When we surrender to the truth that we don't cause, can't control and can't cure others unhealthy behaviors, we can finally work on what we do have control of...ourselves. In this episode I share how I have and am still working through the 3 C's in my own life with my family and how I have found healing by letting go.

As the former wife of an alcoholic..I thought that severing ties with my husband would make my life easier.. better even.
Low and behold.. our daughter is now showing signs of alcoholism. I can't walk away this time. She's a single mom to an amazing little girl. That little girl needs me.
I'm buckled up. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
I'm loving discovering the three C's. I've been blamed for her drinking.. by both her and her ex. (Father of grandbaby)
I will admit.. that my recent health crisis and inability to work might have made her life a little more difficult, but it's not an excuse to drink uncontrollably.

I appreciate the shorter time clip when I don't have an hour plus to listen. The Rev. has a soft voice and articulate speaking.

I raised and had my.childern sober and yes it our behavior and attitude. I did relasph after 20 years and it is a choices. However the thinking that cones with drinking is the reaction.

I need it this so much. Thank you so much for the information that you provided. Also, thank you so much for your perspective. I needed to hear the AA side of it. I'm quite sure that my loved ones would agree with everything you said about how an alcoholic acts and thinks. My higher power brought me to this today. And I really needed to hear It. Thank you. If you do more Al anon stuff, I will be back.

My Soul Recovery journey has been influenced by Al-Anon and for that I am so grateful- it has created what I call Soul Recovery, which is not intended to speak for, or replace an Al-Anon program- but to add to your 'spiritual awakening'. My hope is that Soul Recovery offers a broad spectrum of spiritual tools and studies, not just for those effected by addiction, but for anyone looking to follow a spiritual path to a happy and healthy life.

      Kindly, Rev Rachel
