This'll be a great first project for me to try. Thanks for sharing.😊
That sign technique from Ryan is great. Looks like you spent a long time working on that sign, but really didn't take very long. I'm going to have to give it a try! Thanks for the vids! 👍👍

Enjoy your videos and I also watch Ryan Cook. I used to watch Chainsaw Chad but he suddenly stopped videos would you know why??
Keep up make videos!!
@@rickedwards6604 thanks ! Yeah they are two awesome guys . I spoke with Chad a couple weeks ago . I don’t wanna speak out of turn in regards to his videos . I like his content. If your a concerned fan he’s a real chill guy you could always reach out to him .
Great video! I’ve been looking to make some carved welcome signs from some reclaimed wood, but have had a hard time with the wood splitting and the bar chattering back and forth when making initial plunges for the letters. Does this sound like an issue with the wood, or maybe I need a finer tip like your saw? I appreciate the info!
What type of chainsaw are you using as well as the other tool and where did you buy them
I believe I was using the Stihl msa 200 which is a batter saw . Then a die grinder from harbor freight and a flame bit carving bur from saburrtooth.com
Hey buddy 👍🏻
Why the loose chain tension? Ever fall off?
If it’s the dime tip bar there is no sprocket in the nose so you run the chain loose as to not wear it out prematurely
What model of stihl battery chainsaw is that? And does stihl have a dime tip bar and sprocket for the battery powered? Or is that the bar it came with?
Why I ask, I was looking at the stihl cordless today and I noticed they had what seemed to be maybe a quarter sized tip.
I'm just moving up to larger sized pieces and looking for the best combo to use to carve inside(climate controled environment.)
Great questions! If tomorrow works in my favor I will make a short video going over the battery saws I have and their set up . Hopefully post it this weekend .
Very informative video! It looks like a small bar is the way to go for sign posts? I think the one in the video is a 12 incher? I'm about to purchase my first chainsaw. I wanted to start simple with signs. I was planning on getting the Stihl MSA 200 for some flexibility when I move on from signs but that's a 14 inch bar. Awkward for this type of stuff? Thx for the help.
You can put a 12” stock bar on that saw . That’s what’s on mine
If you look up the Stihl MSA200 on Stihl.com it says it comes with a 1/4 pitch .043 gauge 14” bar . This means you can fit a 1/4 pitch .043 gauge 12” bar you could also at some point put a dime tip bar on this saw with out having to replace the sprocket as it’s already a 1/4 pitch . If you were to get a detail bar / dime tip bar they usually have to be ordered at which time order the .043 carving chain to go with it and get the proper files
@Kyle Hall woodworker I see. Thank you Kyle!
love your work. what kind prices are these worth
Around $50
Thanks again for all your help. I watch you and Ryan Cook, and love the work you guys do. I live in Indiana. I've been carving for about a year now. I'm retired and it's something fun for me. Thanks again for you do. Alan
Hey Kyle, I cannot figure out how to do a lot of letters of the alphabet in the block style of sign you did in this video. I don't suppose you could do all the letters of the alphabet for us. Just on a piece of paper would be fine. I want to make signs but can't figure out a lot of the letters. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!
I will see what I can do
@@KyleHallwoodworker awesome thanks
Where a can buy the bar for the chainsaw. Thanks
