Im a collector myself (of pokemon cards/plushies), and i just found your channel! Its nice to watch other people hunt for and get the things theyre looking for :)
I have a lot purchases which i regret (cause i am stupid and often dont look closely at the stuff i buy .... ), last time i bought a Zelda: Links awakening for the Classic Gameboy for 150€ and didnt checked the stuff inside the Box, so i got a UK Box with a 5/10 english instruction (ripped and creased) and a german cartridge. well a few months later i got an other one in 8/10 condition but at that time i was pissed.
An incomplete copy of Magic knight Rayearth for Sega Saturn. It was disc and manual only copy for about $860.00. It was an impulse buy and I later found a complete copy for only a little more. I ended up buying a high quality reproduction art work to finish it off, but it's not the same due to it being a Working Designs game.
Yes, twice. One time I auctioned in a copy of Catherine: Fullbody for the Switch on an online auctionsite, I was promised a physical cartridge, got a code in a box. And my biggest regret from years ago a copy of Windwaker with the OoT bonus discs. It was a "new" copy. However after opening it when coming home, the discs were both scratched to hell as well as broken.
Haha. I love the ending. I have been there before. I once bought a horror book of short stories four times. I must love that collection. Great video and I love your channel!!!
That ending. 😂 I’ve had the reverse happen to me where I wanted the greatest hits because it had additional characters, but when I bought it my disk was the black label. Grr. Would you guys ever do a “top 5/top 10 lists” of games? Any kind of list. RPG characters, RPG music, RPG bosses, ect. I think there’s a lot you could do with that sort of thing and I don’t know about everyone else but I’d love to hear you both talk about such things. 😊
Man I can't believe you guys found all those grails at SoCal expo. If I get a FF figure it'll be for Vincent Valentine. I like Cloud but Vincent is my all time favorite in the franchise. I love the clip with Rectwizard that made me laugh
0:0:41 Hey, my booth got its own segment on JRPGLife!!! It was awesome hanging out with you both at the show... I think your footage is actually the best look at my booth before the games were gone--I was too busy to take many pictures that first morning! -Ted
Dude so many strategy guides are $50+ these days, pisses me off because I'd rather have a physical guide. And I can't fit every one of my consoles close to my computer.
JRPG life I have seen all from 1980-Now I have every RPG for all Nintendo Sega Sony and Microsoft consoles love the Super Nintendo PS1 and PS2 RPGs the most
aw man.. that ending.. now that I think about it, I should recheck a lot of my ps2 games. I bought a lot of my ps2 collection Used from Gamestop and it is possible I have some labels that dont match the game (like your SH 2). Thanks for the weekly content!
Those Resident Evil figures were BAD AZZ! I remember back in 1998 or 99 can't quite remember, I got it for N64. I would try to play it late at night by myself and I would get so scared and would have to turn it off and start playing Spyro on PS to relax. Mind you in 98-99 I was already 18-19 years old and I felt like the biggest puzzy ever 😂! 👊😜👍
That moment when if you know, you know 😂. Insane purchase with a proper title card as a glimpse into that poor man's future. I've shared a similar experience, pulling the trigger on the elusive Snatcher. In person buy at a game store a few years back. We'll worth the admission and sometimes you have to just go for it, re inert that title card 😂. I had no idea about silent hill 2 and the difference . I'll have to take a look at mine. ☝️💪🙌
I used to have those game guides back in the day, they're now all lost in the shuffles of moving for so many years. Which is amusing since I never had a SNES.
No regrets from us yet. I have gotten close a few times like when I bought what I thought was a CIB Wii resort black console to come to find out it had a white console inside thankfully didn’t payed too much still came out ahead. Also don’t want to spoil the video for anyone else so I’ll just say: lol on that ending
Glad to finally see some content from so cal! wish I could have gone! Also I found my old psp the other day and did an lcd screen mod in it, do you guys have some recommendations for rpgs on it? just snagged PoPolocrois!
Awesome! Man, there are so many good RPGs on the PSP! The first few that come to mind are: FF Tactics: WOTL LEGEND OF heroes: Trails in the Sky Star Ocean 1&2
On the plus side I think the Xbox version of Silent Hill 2 has better resolution than the PS2 and you can sell that copy for at least what you paid for the Xbox version.
That twist ending though! Whoops! The booth with all the Strategy guides makes me drool a bit; I love that kind of additional media. I don't have a TON of them, maybe 50 (compared to 400+ games), but each one is a showcase of art and design. For a lot of games, those are the only physical media they ever got that properly showcases the concept art. I've never really undestood why everyone craps on Greatest Hits and the like; before mandatory internet updates, those were the only chance devs had to release versions with bug fixes and adjustments. Most if not all of my PS2 collection is originals, but that's really just because the games I enjoy don't often get GH versions. So this is a genuine question: What, if anything, actually makes the black label games more desirable?
Great question! I think there is a lot of intrinsic value in owning an "original" version of a game. You are correct, though; sometimes it's best to get the later release 😀
@@JRPGLife (and -wife) Thanks for taking a minute to answer; even though I pretty much knew the answer, it is nice to get confirmation. No one ever really addresses it, and I think it's pretty interesting that as collectors we might prefer a technically inferior product for a bit of extra ink and shelving continuity. I've actually been thinking of contributing to The Manual Project; I grew up in the 80s, and most of my earliest game experiences were rentals, which didn't include more than basic controls. As a result I spent a lot of time talking to the folks at the Nintendo hotline - I must have been a menace to them, because I lived locally to NoA and called directly rather than through the 800 number!
