What i love about ps2 is that youve got 150 games ive probably got about 95 and between us there was probably less than 10 that we both had. The ps2 library is so vast.
Slightly sickening seeing prices on games I had when I was younger that I would have sold for a fraction of the prices in this video, and would be so expensive to rebuy
I would of been a good idea to add all the info to the spreadsheet of all your games and then you could price track the whole collection. also you could then do a update video each year
So I've done the same test with my ps2 collection, I have 84 Ps2 games and by Cex standards it is worth £548.50. My most valuable game is Spawn: Armageddon, which sells for £28 😮 I remember buying that for £6 back in the day 😂
i still kept my copy and i have manhunt 2 mint and haunting ground, rule of rose, just to name a few 😎 oh and i have ultimate Spiderman limited edition, mint 😉
5:34 the fellowship of the ring is based off the books. I think it came out before the movie did. On the bottom it says "based on the literary works of J.R.R Tolkien".
I remember as a kid going to multiple shops with my mum trying to find the game, i had towers and ROTK, eventually got it and was so hyped to have all 3.
And there's also all the extra time put into it vs just dumping them in the store and coming back when they've told you what it's worth. I find CEX has it's place, certainly for lesser value games that I can't be bothered to go to the effort of packing up and taking to the post office etc. But definitely steer more towards other places for higher ticket items.
I totally agree with you never take the cash price in CEX. Worst case scenario trade all your fodder in ( sub £10 ) and take the voucher then buy something of value. 3d all stars on switch for instance and sell that. You’re only selling 1 item and paying 1 lot of postage then too.
@@jsteadman9262not necessarily. I traded in some blurays and used the voucher to buy a rare Evercade game that cost £60 credit. I sold it for £80 cash.

Ok stumbled across this video and really enjoyed watching it as a fellow UK Ps2 collector so have liked and subbed. Learnt quite a bit as well.... 1) I never even have heard of Vinted so will have to see if we can buy or sell some stuff there in the future. 2) Really nice framed God Of War game set on the wall. Is that something you created or an unknown rarity a bit like the Singstars ones I have seen. 3) I own a lot of the games you have as I have been collecting for around 8 years and I am surprised how some of the games have shot up in price from CEX so it was good to see how much some of my games have shot up. Unfortunately when you own 1300 PS2 games, there is a lot that CEX don't have a price for and that includes probably around 40 singstars that I own. Keep up the interesting content and you were spot on about CEX not giving much for the value of the games.
about 20 quid remember when i took my megadrive and all games to gamestation around 2002 when dreamcasts were 20 quid each and the games/vmu's were a quid. best trade ever
Keeping in mind that you lose 15ish to 20% of the price of a sold game due to fees and postage around 50% trade in value for cash is actually quite good. I would say it's above average really. Video game stores in the states give you anywhere from 10% to 30% usually and sometimes higher depending on the game. Like a Pokemon game they sell for 50 bucks that'll go out the door the next day they may give you 30-35 for but a $20 game that will sit on the shelf forever they may only give you a dollar or two for.
Was that PS2 copy of Kuon from CEX in Devon, Exeter ? I live in Exeter, they had a copy of it in the front window. Looks to have been sold, no longer instock.
I spent a few years amassing a huge ps2 collection and a lot came from CEX. I'd trade in other stuff for vouchers then buy loads of games starting with cheaper ones and once i had those went for bigger stuff. I'm basically done with it now and have over 650 PS2 games. Ill never go for those games worth hundreds. Most i paid was £70 for Secret Agent Clank.
Let's be honest that's more than expected, over half of what they sell them for. They need to make a profit then wages out of that. £1,600 isn't too bad but if you can sell them yourself for over £3k then fair play.
The thing is, that for collectors it's similar to antiques and they aren't seen as antiquities due to their age. Rare video games can be hard to find and people love challenges to find that rare item and are willing to pay for it. Yes, sometimes there is crazy values and shilling which can raise the value of games to a ridiculous point especially when they are more common than realised i.e I seem to Rule Of Roses everywhere. However, when you own something like I do being the Starwing Competition Cartridge for the Super Nintendo where only 2000 were made and given out for a promotional gaming competition, even a manual alone can fetch over £500 let alone the game itself. I mean the emulator comment...I get it if you just want to play the games for cheap but I can't stand anything that isn't original personally especially repros which imo ruin the purpose of game collecting. I see it as an achievement...and the best thing is you can still play these games.
There always is some difference in price. Better eith the voucher. I do a wee bit of buying snd selling snd get tid of dome of the clutter from a bundle zi bought in CEX then sell the rest privately. I remember I bought 2 xbox 360's for £30. Came with extra controllers and games. I went straight from me buying them to CEX and got my money back on a controller and a couple of games. Gave me time then yo clesn the consoles up and sell them.
When i was a kid i never managed to play many ps2 games coz my dad wouldn't buy me any. Anyone whose even played 5% of these games must've had a amazing time. I wish ps2 had a record like ps 3,4 & 5 of all the games you've played and trophys you've collected.

About a 3rd of what it's actually worth sold 2nd hand. For example, brand new ps5 games at argos for £36 are £32 at cex but they will give you about £12. Have you noticed that CEX have no Grade A stock!? Funny that, because they mark down even grade a to rip you off. I know all too well having some ordeals this year with CEX, who also cannot adhere to there own policy of testing goods. I've had 3 faulty goods in 9 months from them.
LOL good luck putting away all those games, it will do you back in, i have over 200 PS2 games that CEX will never get their grubby hands on, you are right they are a rip off, half of that profit will go into their pockets and those sticky labels were giving me OCD vibes, i never leave them on my game cases with how much damage they can do 😥 nice collection of games tho, it's nice to know my PS2 collection is worth a bit 😎

Do you use any applications for organising your emulated game on your PC? Id recommend launch box if you’re looking for something that keeps it all well organised and visually great also. Great as a back up to my physical discs
20:08 honestly, no, it just isn't worth the time to list and ship every single game compared to simply sending it all to Cex and getting the trade in value. Part of what you lose on the trade in is the convenience and ease of doing it. Maybe put some of the higher value games on eBay, but anything under £20 isn't really worth it. You need to take a picture, then you need to find the value, then you need to wait, then you need to get a jiffy bag, then you need to pay for and print a label and post it, then eBay takes a final value fee, then you have the risk the buyer decides to scam you and say it doesn't work or whatever.
Only thing I don’t agree with is they will give you cash for stuff which is fine but then they go and sell it for 60 percent more than what they gave you for cash. Like I know they need to make a profit but 50-60 percent profit is ridiculous
Yeah how dare a business give you half the value and then have to sit on it for maybe years to sell for double...it's pretty standard for any store like this. They have many overheads too. Sometimes they give way more than 50% if they know it will sell immediately like ps5 consoles.
Mad that… Not many people know that the ps2 was difficult to develop for. But easy to emulate. Where as the ps3 varies. Coz of the spilt in power. of games like uncharted 2(demanding pc probably) but something like cod 2, look like a ps2 game, that can run on a low spec pc. I gather emulated max Payne will run smooth compared to the ps2. But never played them. Only reason 360 succeeded was halo. (Just know it’s popular) Fable would of came to ps2/ps3 eventually. Otherwise ps3 would of dominated from the start. But maybe gaming wouldn’t be where we’re at. Well I've come back to say I was more or less right with what I said in my first comment about it being a pittance. Lets not forget these games will be collectors to some people somebody may just buy the whole lot in one go. I think its terrible the way CEX operate its not just games its everything they sell. Try swapping out a product with a problem or try getting a refund see where it gets you. Thats why I take my money elsewhere these days to places like GAME they have a much better code of conduct. At GAME when you have a legitimate problem they swap out whatever it is and grant you a different one straight away. Try doing that at CEX and they'll bare face lie to you and say nothing is wrong with the product and that you'll have to take a credit note or go back home. Credit notes usually are something like just over half of the initial price you paid somewhere around there so ya not getting your product whichever way you cut the cake unless you put you're hand in you're pocket to make up the difference. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
Wow my mum owes me over 1,000 pound as she threw out some of my ps2 games😭 only one left i think is worth anything is Suikoden 2 for PS1 no idea though if it still works as cant test it not scratched at all though, its just sat here gathering dust 😂
