Of course it will fire up. 300 Tdi, excellent componentry and workmanship, 26 years later and a few mods they are still going very strong. Did the externals and plumbing on mine recently and it's like new. Love it!
Enjoyed this video. I have an ex MOD 110 soft top and foolishly replaced the under powered 2.5NA with a V8 from a Disco with Edelbrock carb and straight pipe exhaust. It’s sounds like a TVR and does 15mpg.
Hey Juice so happy I’ve found your channel as I’m getting ready to purchase my first Defender 110 here in Italy with the intention of swapping in a Cummins diesel once back in the USA. The buyers guide video you made was an excellent help in sifting through a few junkers! Have you ever done a Cummins or American Diesel engine swap?
I think it’d take way longer labour wise, the easiest part of any conversion is the fabrication and mechanical side, the tricky part can be the electronic side (having a standalone ecu so the engine thinks it’s still in the original vehicle etc) with an electric motor it’d be insane to try and work this side of it out without expensive software, if we use a Tesla setup (which is the one you’d want) the Tesla is constantly sending messages between its modules and BUS system, you’d need to sniff these codes and emulate them back to the ECU for it to work without reduced power/faulting - a whole different world of pain. We’ll do it one day…
Hi guys, just watched all your vids about the 300tdi swap into the MOD 110. I’m in the process of doing one too. What high temp sealant do you use please? My next job is to change the T seals and oil pan. Thanks
Great job there 👏 , considering doing same thing... did u need to modify the engine mount or it's a direct fitting... what about the gearbox mounting ?
Great video Might as well take the head off none of the valves will be sealing can guarantee it due to lumps of soot from the egr ,you can clean rest of gunge out of inlets and regrind value seats
No need to at this stage, the gasket isn’t leaking, the motor runs well. We’re just giving it a refresh not a full rebuild, if we remove the head, we’ll need to skim etc at that point it’s only the short block so we might aswell do that too. Maybe on the next one!
The ratios on the LT77 are identical to the of the R380, there’d be no noticeable improvement or “feel” we want to keep as much of the original MOD as possible on this one, and we organised all our parts based on the shorted LT77 input shaft so it sits further back 🤩
Great video guys! I was considering a v8 swap in my 1983 110 county station. It currently has a 2.5 td that smokes more than John Wayne. This has got me thinking what would be best 🤔 ....
Hi all, a question for everyone and anyone. Has anyone ever fitted a 300tdi from a discovery to a defender with a 300tdi bulkhead loom please? I am having real issues connecting the looms. Cheers
@@juicemotors Hi,thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have the defender engine loom as vehicle only came with the bulkhead loom. I really don't want to fork out for a new defender engine loom if i can help it. I'm just having trouble finding out what to do with all the wires, including the ones that aren't used e.g alarm and egr. Many thanks, Matt
LT77 has the same ratios, there’s be no difference to the drive, we want to keep as much of the original car as possible - just the engine swap for this one ☝️
I always found it interesting the die hard 200tdi fans - the 300 is Land Rovers improvement over the 200tdi but I can appreciate the 200tdi for its simplicity and robustness - it’s just not got the legs for the modern world in my opinion
@@juicemotors haha most definitely not die hard. I ran 200 & 300 for large generators delivery’s. 200 would always be the choice for all the guys. Just pulled better
A tremendous amount of work and your attention to detail is fantastic. I’m looking forward to seeing the foot wells getting repaired 👍🏻🏴
We did it that way in the 80s at Aston Martin they never leeked I still do it that way on all engines
We had a converted 110 back in 1983 while I was in the military, went like butter off a hot shovel.
My first time seeing the ocean as a toddler, my mother told me I spread my arms in amazement, and yelled, "JUICE!!".

Outstanding.
Love a Rover V8 in a Land Rover. I get 19mpg out of 109 Stage 1 on a long run, which isn't as terrible as I was expecting.
Nice work lads, enjoyed that one. Look forward to hearing it fire up 👍🏻
More vids of ex mod builds/changes… superb defenders
Great work lads , you need a parts washer .
Would have liked to see more of the footwells repair
Another good one, thanks. LOF clutch - yum. 😀
Brilliant work guys I am loving this one
Great video, really enjoying this series.
Thank you!
I'm surprised you haven't got an ultrasonic parts washer yet.
Great stuff guys looks like new !

Nice job, well done.
Amazing work!
Yes guys 🚜
Every time I see one of those interesting engineering videos, I wonder when the first fully electric car will make it to the JIUCE STORE …?!😀
Haha one day! I’ve been thinking about it 🤔
Love it ……question: would doing a battery/electric conversion be just as labor intensive?
It would also be a crime against humanity.

You could have taken the backplate off the 2.5 NA and fitted it directly to the 300 tdi
No need, this one bolts up with minor works 😊

Brilliant mate
Excellent video and impressive attention to detail there. 👍 What engine paint did you use?
Have you got a link for the hi temp sealer you used in place of the t seals ?
Sam, are you going to change the motor shield, it's rotten from the left and from the right !!? 11:29
Think you mean the lower bulk head footwells? Yes, next episode 🫡😇
@@juicemotors Well, great! And then you have to slow down with your feet! )))
Why don't you use the R380 gearbox out of the disco, the top plate off the LT77 and the conversion from ashcroft and bring it right upto date 😉
The ratios on the LT77 are identical to the of the R380, there’d be no noticeable improvement or “feel” we want to keep as much of the original MOD as possible on this one, and we organised all our parts based on the shorted LT77 input shaft so it sits further back 🤩
Hello
Nice swap,
if you need some upgrade on the injectors or ve pump it's my work😉

Buy a V8 110 county😁😁
J/M. Was one going to bolt a 200Tdi exhaust manifold with hybrid turbo ? This should offer up to 25psi boost, without leaking outside oil seals ! V.
Who did you get the 300 tdi frame mount kit from ?
This is exactly what I want to do with my '88 ex-RAF 110.
You guys look like you are doing good work.
Do you source the engines for a swap yourselves?
We certainly do! Check out part 1 where you can see where the engine came from!
Juice - the sound blows on this episode. You've done something different with your sound?
What engine was in it before 19J… I put a disco rear axel on mine
Watch part one, it’s a 2.5 NA Leyland engine I believe
do you guys machine the flywheel?
No need to, bolts straight up and is in great condition 👍🏻
After over 40 years a Auto Election wearing overalls..I can’t get used to you all in shorts
But still enjoy the show
Haha thanks Paul! We do get covered from time to time!
Hi all, a question for everyone and anyone. Has anyone ever fitted a 300tdi from a discovery to a defender with a 300tdi bulkhead loom please? I am having real issues connecting the looms. Cheers
Use the defender loom and plug it all onto the disco engine 😉

Anyone know if he uses a specific spray paint for the parts or is it literally just silver paint out of a rattle?
It’s engine aluminium enamel, high temp and made for high temperatures 😇
what turbo you use?
CHRA Billet hybrid 🙏🏻
@@juicemotors what company? Online shop link? iwould need one for my 300TDI
Wooooooo

Should of changed main and big ends.
I think t seals replacing with silicon is a good idea
No need to, we’re simply refreshing this Tdi engine. It runs well, we have to draw the line somewhere otherwise we’d be fully rebuilding the engine 👌🏻
300 Tdi …. Mine is a 300Tdi , why not a R380gearbox
