Jeff Jassby great guy for sure. Check out the other video with him and the out takes.
you need some leg extensions upgrades :)
hey man just an honest critique. i dont even own a truck but i know that a f250 will not drive as well unloaded as loaded because the spring pack is so stiff in the back that it needs weight to feel more plyable when hitting small bumps. alot of bigger trucks are this way.
Amerikanski sure. That’s the way a lot of trucks used to be. I was really aiming just to inform consumers of the ride difference between trucks. Not trying to say the F250 rode horrible. Funny to me how people are focused on the latter.
I could really go for a mean tweet and some $1.73 a gallon gas right about now...
Right!
🤣🤣🤣 I really miss those mean tweets more then the gas ⛽️
@@patsnation3221 agreed. Good gas prices are great but when you president gets a terrorist leader killed and then tells the whole world he died like a bitch… that’s priceless

Nah. Lots of other trucks fit the bill!
Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk you realize this is a work truck right? You don’t buy these to expect luxury you expect to get work done.
@@Rippersshow not anymore. Status symbol
Lol. At 410 overall height i been knowing of it is out of my reach. Lol. Truck life.
How would that be the solution? or funny for that matter...
I could care less how fast a work truck goes , or how many gadgets it has !
I'm interested in longevity and how it performs under a load
To each their own but rams are ugly trucks and fall apart like they were made in China. Their only redeeming quality is the Cummins engine in their HD trucks, but I'd still prefer an international.
You could care less huh? So you do care to a certain point how fast a work truck goes, and how many gadgets it has.
Best true comment.
*COULDN'T*
Then you should be looking at toyota
You want to smooth out the ride? Put 600lb in the box. A truck should feel like a truck. People are getting way to pampered.
Can't wait to buy this truck in 2030 at a lower price. 🤞🏻
Mean 4g63
It’s a V8 naturally aspirated pushrod. How simple do you want? Are you saying you’re too dumb to figure even that out?
@@francesco1998 no he means all the damn electronics these new trucks have on them now that people who actually use the trucks for dont use need or want on them.
@@eristeogarza2290 That is proven wrong , otherwise people would be buying fleet trucks. Also there is the stx available.

I have always wished cat would make a solid work truck!
just bought a 2021 f250 and I absolutely Love this truck! I understand the ride quality isn't as smooth because of the solid front axel but if you want a truck that will last you for decades this is the truck for you! Will never sell this truck now that I have one. Remember Ford is the real American Truck! great review!
Ford 10 speeds are junk, lawsuits have been filed, look it up... just like the rest of the junk they build
Our ancestors rode horses and walked across a continent and now people are winning about.
Its too hard and its too rough 😭😭😭😭😭😭
But they didnt pay $40-60k for their horse.....even with inflation adjusted....😂
Wait? I was whining?!?
I agree who buys a 3/4 ton truck for the ride... That's like buying a smart car then bitching because it's to small.
@Robert Condon What does that have to do with buying a truck??....😂😂😂
@@Pickuptrucktalk nah, he said winning, you are winning not whining...
I own a 2019 crew lariat diesel, I lowered tire pressure to 60 psi , removed Rancho shocks. Installed bilstien 4600 shocks all around . Big improvement
I can see that. Glad I’m not alone in the ride comfort criticism.
Ron - check out the Carli 2.5 Pintop suspension system with the King shocks. Expensive......but, makes the Ford Super Duty or Dodge Heavy Duty ride almost like a Cadillac........rides way better than a Chevrolet or GMC Heavy Duty.
I put bilsteins on mine and it's a drastic improvement on quality.
I put 5100's on everything, the 4600's are stock for most Toyota trucks and SUV's.
I have the Bilstien 4600 shocks on my Tundra. Would replace with the same
Yea I bought a big block for the mpg said no man ever
Randy Jolly I agree I have a big block Chevy 8.1 (496ci.) for the pulling power 450 lbs of torque And I still have my Chevy 6.0 (360ci) 375 lbs of torque . I love the pulling power and the sound of the big block.
Blame the truck for being short.
I currently drive a Dodge 2500 QC 4x4; it is a tall truck for an 2008 but the bed is 36" off the ground, which made it a challenge to hook the gooseneck trailer. The trailer tires were flipped but it still rides at an angle. I'll sell it one of these days and not worry about it.
$3.48 a gal now in 2022. It’s a killer. Love to go back to $1.78 you paid
Keep it coming...the fact that you even have a phone charger (wireless) in a truck that actually is build to perform = priceless. Complaining about the ergonomics of such an unneeded feature...also priceless.
That is more stuff than I can ever imagine wanting. This has confirmed when mine finally dies I'm ordering another base model.
Maybe a Ridgeline would suit your needs better :)
MAYBE! LOL. Yeah, no...
LMAO
Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk everyone is giving you flack but you gotta review what the truck has it just so happens idc lol 😂
Now that's some funny shit. 😂
Haha not my style but the ridgeline is actually what most people need!!
As for the ride of IFS vs a solid front axle, the reason Ford continues on with the solid front axle is because it is a truck. It is used for truck things, like hauling a heavy load. Put a heavy load in the bed of an IFS truck and you'll change the caster and camber of the front suspension. Not so with a truck with a solid front axle. The more you know, the more you know Ford.
Excellent Comment!!! Plus the solid front axle has much better axle articulation off-road compared to the IFS axle. Read article in Four Wheeler magazine - Frontend Fued - IFS vs Solid Axle.
But, if you get the death wobble in Super Duty you will never forget it and you will cuss the solid axle. I still can fathom why Ford hasn't resolved this...
When i was riding in the back of a six by six with some other fellas' the ride was very stiff and bumpy. After filling the back of the truck with two feet of sandbags filled with dirt, the big five ton truck rode like a cadillac because of the weight of the dirt bags pushing on the leaf springs, while travelling over bumpy terrain. So if anyone has a problem with a stiff riding car or truck, the simple solution is to put some sand bags in the load compartment. For a car , put a sand bag or two on the floorboards behind the front seats. You'll even have more controll in the snow too.
The straight axle up front serves as the reason why Ram and Ford are the towing vehicles of choice. The IFS may be more comfortable, when you you're towing heavy, thus the truck weight shifting rearward, the IFS setup allows way more sway than would solid axles up front. Plus they generally boast better longevity over the years/miles.
I'm pretty sure this Ford could probably use the FOX steering stabilizer upgrade to smooth the ride over the rough pavement.
Welcome back to pushrod engines, Ford!
Devil’s Advocate. Why do you say towing vehicles of choice? I recently interviewed a Chevy owner who is a camper trailer hauler. He had no problems with IFS.
@@Pickuptrucktalk when towing long range, and over various grades and terrain, it's been my experience that live axles f/r are a bit more poised, particularly in the steering(less wandering, better stability, etc). To your credit, I have not driven a new GM HD, so things may have changed since last-gen.
I like both! The Ifs ride quality is way better especially off road. The straight axle seems to be stronger when a plow is needed but how many people need a plow? Not as many as people who dont! We live in a world now where people say I need that straight axle but I'll never pull more than a car on a trailer or a large toolbox lol
@@czwarlord9243 because it is your preference, that does NOT make any of my statements false. There are significant reasons why Ram and Ford have chosen to stick with solid axles up front, chief amongst them are the trucks strength, durability, and long-term sustainability, particularly for a vehicle that is always put to work, like an HD should. I'm not opposed to an IFS, particularly on a 3/4 ton application, but for serious hauling, you will need the stability and reliability of a solid axle.
@@Pickuptrucktalk I’m a heavy truck mechanic, and do get to work on little trucks down to 1/2 ton. Included in that is the ever present overloaded gm one ton utility truck that has enough front end rebound and overweight steering to feel like your trying to control a monkey humping an accordion
Again, priceless...you answered the fix for a tall truck by pointing out the running boards. I will say no more.
As a taller person that has gained weight over the years I really appreciate the larger trucks and the higher up they are the easier they are to work on as they age. So I love the jacked F250 big trucks and getting into them.
For a shorter person having to go thru the tailgate to get something all the time will be a big pain.
You get it. Different sizes and trucks for different folks.
@@Pickuptrucktalk We get it, you need a Lowrider...some of us need ground clearance...
That axle your complaining about will be there when the chevy is in the junkyard
😂 good comment.
Truck with a solid axle will also tow better putting more weight up front.
After 10 years of fleet repair, pickups are the small end of what I have to service, but the solid axles do a great job and they at least last. If I wanted my truck to drive like a car, I'd have bought a car. That being said... trucks have gone and basically turned into cars these days anyway. I'm glad I bought the last one before everything went powered.
Awwwww pudding go bk to your safe place kid
Must be a Chevy towing the POS ford to the junk yard then
Thanks for posting. The MPG was about what I expected, although I was hoping it would be better for highway with no trailer or load. At 2:25, it shows with a full tank, the range was limited to just 322 miles. At 13 MPG, that says the gas tank is only 25 gallons. My 2017 F-250 LONG BED has a 48 gallon tank - makes a huge difference.
Tim, I normally like your reviews but this one I feel you were somewhat off on a few items...particular the 5 dis-likes. You probably needed more coffee...and a heat wave LOL. The ride differences between the Solid axel and IFS...the Solid will ride stiffer...I agree. No question about it. I drove both GMC/FORD before I bought, adjusted the pressures to 60 lbs on all 4 corners and much was improved on the solid axle truck. If I am a betting man you probably had close to 80lbs and with colder temps made the situation worse. I have always been more of a GM guy..sold all my diesels and now went to a Gas truck. Probably be my last truck before retirement. I decided the Ford was a better fit over all and just felt like it was built better. More substantial. The Seats were more comfortable, ergonomics appeared better, power felt much better and I liked the 10 speed. Both dealers even let me tow my 13k load....the 7.3 was clearly more powerful and the torque was impressive, even down low. The Ford felt more like a heavy duty vs the GMC a heavy 1/2 ton. Fuel mileage is around 12.9- 13.4 job site to job site....and I am now getting 16.4-6 as an average at 74mph on cruise control. Height and getting in was about the same with both trucks having the same 20's. I live in the south which helps my review....LOL....it's warm Thank You....and flat here. Take Care.
Damn cold temps! I think we are mostly in agreement reading your comments. And sure, dropping the tire pressure will soften a ride at the expense of wear and some fuel economy. I test them as the manufacturer set them up so no changing tire pressure.
FWIW, I bitch about GM’s 2500 being tall as well.
I liked the 7.3L and the seats. No argument from me. I just don’t understand why you need a damn ladder to add oil!
Jeff - does your Ford have 20 inch rims? If so, you might consider an 18 inch rim.....more tire sidewall equals a little bit softer ride and better off-road performance. If you have the 4.30 gears in the differentials, you might want to check out a Carli 2 1/2 inch leveling suspension system .....the 2.5 Pintop with King shocks and Goodyear DuraTrac 285 / 75R - 18 tires.....which are 11.2 inches wide and 35.1 inches tall......same tire on the new 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor. The leveling suspension system just raises the front...not the rear. Hellwig offers an air bag if you decide you want the optional Carli rear leaf spring packs which are made by Deaver Spring.
@@15Jeep I am waiting for Dan at Carli to release their gas/7.3 suspension lift which will be a coil over shock vs using the heavier diesel coils and set up. Supposedly 3rd quarter. I do have 20's and I agree on your comment on the 18's. I almost ordered a Tremor but decided on the Lariat Sport package do to I am mostly on the road and didn't need the more aggressive tires and a few of the stuff the Tremor came with...plus the 4k price tag. My last truck had 37 12.5 20, and on this truck I am taming it down some...LOL.. and going to stick with the stock wheels..order some 295 65 20's which is a 35.1-35.4 x 11.6-12.0 depending on manufacturer and the Carli lift. I already changed the front air dam and fender wells from Ford to the same as the Tremor ...This way it will look like the Tremor when I get done with better road manners and definitely better off road...just wont have the locking front diff and a few other things. Thanks for the help.
How is your fuel economy while towing with that godzilla?
@@15Jeep With the standard tires the sidewall is the same on the 18" and 20" on a 2020 SD. 18" runs 275/65/18, 20 runs 275/65/20. However on a 4x4 with 18" wheels you can get the *optional* 275/70/18s...
My 2020 XL STX 7.3L Supercab, same color your testing, had horrible fuel mileage when I bought with 8 miles (purchased April 11, 2020) on the odometer. Averaged 12.8 mpg hwy for the first 500 miles, mpg increased once I passed 1000 miles. Upgrade tires at 1600 miles to Toyo AT2 Extreme (285/75/18) and averaged 15.5 mpg at 75 mph, all highway, from San Antonio TX to Oklahoma City OK. I now have 5100 miles and average 14.8 mix city/hwy driving. Just pulled a skid steer (10.6K lbs.) with our 14K 22ft PJ trailer (3300 lbs.) averaged 10.1 mpg at 70 mph. The truck does the job well.
Sounds like my results are fairly close to yours. Thanks for sharing.
“wargh my truck is too big!! wargh the phone holder is too inconvenient!!!!”
The highlight of this video is how low that “price per gallon” of gas was
I'm 6ft 2, easy to get in, ride, awesome! I like the bouncy truck feel of the truck.
Couldn't help but laugh at the Diesel Warranty on the sticker at 15:10
It's an awesome truck, we love ours. Toughen up!
Know this = 50% of any vehicle's ride is in its tires. Yes, the tires. Take off whatever came from the factory and replace them with the best Michelin tire for your application. By doing this one thing, you will improve the ride of your vehicle. I drive a Ford Excursion. With me and some of my junk in it, it weighs 8000 pounds. My last set of Michelin LTX MS 2 tires lasted 110,000 miles - verified at my Ford dealer. Smooth and quiet ride, Load range E. I did go up one size, from 265/75/16 to 285/75/16. You will not find a better riding tire than a Michelin. Period.
Yep, the million mile Ford I had on this channel was riding on Michelin tires. That owner swore by them. I can see different tires really helping the ride quality. Thanks for commenting!
I completely agree.......almost. I have had Michelin LTX.....both the M/S and AT2 tires on my Ford Super Duty trucks since 2002. I have Michelin XPS Rib tires on my horse trailer. However, I am now using one of my trucks considerably more off-road......in both mud and snow conditions, and Michelin does not make a tire I need. By far the most popular tire seems to be Toyo. However, for both mud off-road caused by snow melt...and snow packed paved roads, I like the Interco TrXus tire and the Goodyear DuraTrac tires. Goodyear makes a 285 / 75R - 18...which is 11.2 inches wide (narrow width is great for snow) and 35.1 inches tall. The tire has great mud lugs...cleans the mud out well and siping on the lugs for great traction on snow packed roads. The 18 inch diameter tire has more side wall than a 20 inch tire.....therefore, a softer ride both on and off road. If Michelin made a comparable tire, I would probably buy it.....but they don't.
"8 inches seems so small these days"
That's what she said!
Lmao
I drove a 2018 F350 regular cab long bed my fire department bought for a brush truck when it was empty before we outfitted it and it drives way better than my 94 F150. Easily.
Of the 5 things you like, the engine is what I agree with. It seems like a more simple design with less stuff to go wrong. The convience features seem like more stuff to break. I want a truck to keep for 30 years, not a denison of the dealership that I will want to get rid of as soon as the warranty is up. I really dont want an otherwise reliable truck that is always in the shop getting the heated seats and tailgate actuators fixed.
Good review Tim. I like this truck a lot. Great engine & trans. Rougher ride as this is a true 3/4 ton & equipped to tow. Also has LT tires.
Thanks!
What driving mode were you in and drivetrain selection for the 0-60?
Normal mode for entire review.
Thanks for the video...currently looking at an F250 for longetivity.
Check back on 5-7 years. :P
My guess is the 7.3 and the front axle will still be there, the 10 speed will probably crap itself, and as for the aluminum body, well, at least it won't rust lol.

Do you think the heavy diesel models helps the ride up front? Also this truck is about 1 inch shorter than the outgoing models.
My 2017 f350 rides and runs perfectly with 1500 lbs in the back. Love everything but the constant warning chime
My 2019 F250 rides and runs perfectly as well. It's designed to haul weight and pull.

this guy should not have a 250 ...
This is a good ford motor. I believe it will be great. Getting rid of all that ohv triton twin turbo shit that has made fords P.O. Shits for 20+ years is the way to go. Solid front axle is the way to go for plowing snow, ford always had good transmissions and diff's and now with a solid motor its going to be a beast.
Well the 5.4l in the f250s has always been good theyre slightly different than the f150s but the changes made it better, personally i like my 5.4l f250, my next trucks gonna ve a 6.0l build though
The one thing everyone missed; your not supposed to use E85 fuel in the 7.3. 87 or higher is what the manufacturer requires.
depending on elevation.
Plug your phone into one of those gadgets you praised.
Crying because the truck is tall is asinine. It’s a truck
ahh the good ole days of $1.78/gal gas. Here we are at $4/gal
I got a 2019 350 with a 6.2 and I love it. I was a loyal gm 2500hd person (owned 4 of them) and I didn’t know what I didn’t have. But I’m used to driving class 8 trucks and it feels like home. All in what your looking for.
I can see that. Taller truck equals semi like ride and visibility in my book.
I have the exact same truck.......2019 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Lariat Sport - 6.2L - SRW 160 .......and it is awesome! Check out the following - 1. Carli suspension - the 2.5 Pintop with King Shocks; 2. Eaton e-Locker for the Dana 60 front axle; 3. Dynatrac - Heavy Duty Free Spin Hubs - DynaLoc. The Goodyear DuraTrac 285 / 75R - 18 is an awesome off-road tire...and great on road too. This is the exact same tire on the new 2020 Ford Super Duty with the Tremor package.
Finally...agreed! The Super Duty series, in general, could benefit from the aftermarket kits available for ride quality. Ford needs to learn something here.
The IFS from GM is a winner in my book. Rock solid and a comfortable ride. Edit* I do wish the GM had an actual locking rear diff.
Thanks for the review. Quick question, what kinda holder do you use for the phone when recording?
It is a really basic, no power or bluetooth needed plastic rig, link below. I used to use a gimbal, but had so many damn problems with it, I gave up.

Chevy has a bounce when hitting bumps, I prefer solid axle for hauling, plowing
I had a 2500HD and I prefer the IFS over the solid axle in my F-250...and especially over the death wobble. I still don't understand why Ford can't get the death wobble resolved.

I couldn't agree with you more about the height of these trucks, not to mention the higher center of gravity!!
Borrowed a friends 2020 f250 last weekend. I was shocked at how dim the headlights were driving home at night. I haven’t had headlights that dim since the old sealed-beam days.
Sounds like decent mileage for a cold day, but seems like the 7.3 and 6.2 get basically the same mileage. I was really hoping the ten speed transmission would make a big difference. Maybe you'll only see it on long highway trips unloaded. I use these trucks for patrol trucks and don't buy diesel for those because we depreciate them way too fast to justify the additional expense and cost of maintenance. I miss when diesel trucks lasted longer.
I gave GM a hard time over the IFS but it’s actually good. I overhauled the IFS in my 2008 and it’s beefy, not Dana 60 or sterling solid axle but it’s tough. I don’t think it rides any better than solid axle. 2011+ IFS do ride better though.
Reason #1 that you do not want a long plastic oil filler neck sticking out from the valve cover is the outside temperature difference you get from the valve cover to the plastic neck causes major condensation that results in a build up of that milky-white oil-water sludge that ends up dripping down into the engine, and over the period of what I'm guessing is a 8000 mile oil change interval, can build up significantly. I had the same issue on a Jeep I owned years ago with the 3.7L. Oil filler neck always had to be flushed out at almost every oil change.
The wireless charger should be in the indent on top of the dash, maybe w/ a smoked cover to keep some of the sun off the phone. That way the phone can actually pick up a GPS signal while you're using Google Maps or Waze w/ the Android Auto built into Sync 3.
Very cool. On my list! Does this affect the warranty?
Your complaints (if you want to call em that) make me feel even better about the truck lol. Did y’all even notice how much room there is in that engine bay. Talk about easy to work on
5.0L f150 is great engine bay, access is easy, can't be critical of this heavy duty truck, used super duty for 10 years in the mining industry, low operating cost. Thanks for review
Yeah that’s looks delightful compared to the 04-08 f-150 with a 5.4😂😂 they’ve improved so much. I feel that this motor will be a very good motor and will be very simple and easy to work on and maintain.
@@popeyeandstraussmx4165 I have an 04 F150...I didn't get the 3V 5.4 because it was "New" for 04...after hearing all the issues...I couldn't be more happy with the bullet proof 4.6L...Granted 70hp deficit makes the truck gutless...but life is tradeoffs... My 2008 F250 had 3V V10 has been bullet proof as well...
Mister S what’s your point? They never had issues from 2009 and up but, either way I actually own a 5.4 3v as a farm truck and I’m now turning into my daily, it’s a great motor it was owned by a cop and another farmer before me and has 165k miles and has sludge built up in the heads form oil changes being neglected... very inderrated engine. Wanna know how to “bulletproof” a triton? Bigger oil pump. That’s it. As long as the other issues haven’t started the oil pump will save them. The 4.6 is literally identical to the 5.4. Same heads, cams, the only difference is the intake manifold and displacement. The oil pump was simply too small on the V10 and 5.4 to feel the top end, it would do fine if you took care of the oil changes but this is America nobody does that. So oil sludges up clogs ports and the oil can’t go through because of the weak oil pump made for a smaller engine
@@popeyeandstraussmx4165 Um no...My 4.6 is 2V...and there are literally 1000's of V10s 2V and 3V with 300-500K on them with routine maintenance... Use the correct oil and change at 5000 like your manual states...and no issues... I don't know anything about 09+ trucks... I don't buy the first year of ANY engine. FYI the 2V 5.4 in the econoline has ZERO issues as well...the cam phaser was a SHITTY idea. (There were people that were having their truck routinely serviced at the dealer, and had cam phaser issues, some even during the warranty! - It was a bad design, everyone knows this)
I was really hoping it would do a little better on fuel. Those mpg numbers are about the same as the old V10/460.
But the $8k difference between the PSD and the 7.3 Godzilla will buy a lot of gas....depending on the driving, it would take about 10 years to make up the difference in fuel cost.
I like to watch the reviews on the new truck's. All the gadgets are nice till they stop working. Sure hope the 7.3 gasser holds up.
Till then I'll keep my 01 f250 7.3
Just did a 980 mile trip with a 700 lbs motorcycle and carrier hanging on the back of the old Ford . I do have a triple reciever hitch. And got 17 mpg. Of course it's tuned. And 2wd.
What a great review & just when I'm looking at trucks too. Being old, I like simplicity. Also after 30 years as an Instrument/Electrical Journeyman I have learned the most smallest and inexpensive component can shutdown a self regulating, complex chemical process (why I tolerate but do not like to fly) losing thousands of dollars in revenues per hour. Simple is good especially if your out of cell tower range on a lonely stretch of road in those beautiful western states. I think I will like this hard riding beast (aftermarket cushion). I would just hope nothing rattles loose (hate rattles w/o great audio to drown out). I feel the points you made are valid. Had a early jeep, hot coffee in the crotch would wake you up more than drinking it but I love the old girl. With the Ford a slide in camper should dampen things out. Austin Butler hit it on the head, that solid axle is just that solid....Again thank you for "YOUR" perspective. Gonna see one of these Monday. Be safe & thanks for feeding us who do not farm (had horses or I should say they had human$$$$).
Thanks. Great story about the coffee. Let me know if you buy one.
What gears I’m looking at the Lariat 2020 7.3 in the 3.55 gears
I really do like the solid live axle on my (older) Super Duty. I agree it takes some getting used to but it doesn't bother me anymore, I just really like the ruggedness and low maintenance.
That's decent MPGs for an engine that size. That's a little better than what i average w/ my 5.4L towing.
Just what the world needs, another guy judging a work truck by car standards. Some of us need trucks to do truck stuff. That axle you are incessantly crying about is one of the trucks greatest attributes. Maybe you would be better served at your local Lincoln dealership.
😂 just pointing it out. Don’t think it’s that terrible.
if your thinking of buying, check out the forums, also make sure you inspect every inch of the truck, door alignment, box alignmemt with cab, They are nice trucks, but they have problems right off the lott,
I just ordered one. Your dislikes where trivial to say the least. Remember we are buying a truck. If you dont like the ride buy a car...
Enjoy your new truck! Probably taking my comments a bit too personal.
Thank you for the height reference; being seven inches taller than the host makes the stock-ride height seem average to me.
Glad I could help! 😂
That thumbnail paint scheme looks sick (even though one half is just a black and white image).
Damn, that's lighter than my 04 F250 6.0 powerstroke and mine's a REGULAR Cab Long Nut.
You get used to the rougher ride in no time and it will hold up WAY better than a gm. IFS has no place on a superduty class truck.
Completely Agree!!! Moreover......install a Carli suspension 2.5 Pintop with the King shocks.........and the Ford will now ride way better than the GM truck........and also have superior axle articulation resulting in superb off-road ability over the GM trucks. IFS axle is only good for high speed off-road racing. The Solid Front Axle is much better for a daily driver 4WD vehicle that is used for recreational off-road use and or for people who live off of non-paved roads.
neither does aluminum...
@@bicdaddy Respectfully Disagree! The sheet metal (steel) body parts and panels have been very thin for decades. There is virtually no difference in the ease to dent the steel or aluminum body parts. That said...aluminum has a BIG advantage.....it does not rust like steel. Chevrolet and GMC trucks have had a "rust out" history of body parts and panels. Aluminum is a better choice.
In addition, Ford trucks have a fully boxed frame.....that has e-Coat. The GM truck frames are still coated with wax. GM engineers just cannot build a good 4WD truck. Great LS V8 engines.....but poorly designed and engineered little girl "car like" trucks...only good for hauling groceries and a few items from home improvement stores. In short, GM 4WD trucks are junk!
Mike Marler I’m not arguing about the benefits of aluminum! I get the point of it... but if you want to understand the issues of it, talk to ANY body shop. You can’t repair aluminum panels... and they crumble like beer cans. It can turn a $1k repair into a $10k+ repair in a heartbeat.
@@bicdaddy You are correct about the repair of aluminum body panels. However, not many steel panels are repaired because the labor cost of repair and materials exceeds the cost of a new panel and materials.
The big difference is the replacement cost of steel panels compared to aluminum panels. Currently, the cost of replacement aluminum panels is outrageous. The costs of replacement aluminum panels will come down as more trucks end up in salvage yards. I have heard Ford is also the only supplier.....which keeps costs high due to no competition.
When it get's below freezing my doors won't shut and latch until I turn on the heat for 20 minutes full blast. Other than that it's a beast.
Ouch! That would not work for me (MN)
even with the "slow" 8.5 0-60 times, does the 7.3l make the truck at least FEEL faster than it is?
Not really. No turbo makes a difference in that regard.
@@Pickuptrucktalk thats fair.
I've had a few trucks in my day, not a lot but a few. Ifs in a half ton is fine if you want the ride, I moved up to 3/4 ton for the payload, give me a solid axle! If I had a half ton I'd still want the solid axle, it's a TRUCK! After a gutless 5.4 for last 12 years I love my new Godzilla. Best gas motor I've driven since the old v-8 400 in the early 80s! I like the 10 speed, but I miss my clutch.
Your truck is a crew cab 6.8 ft bed 4x4 in what looks like XLT or lariat trim . It should be around 6560lbs curb weight, the way I figured this is by adding 100lbs to the curb weight of the same truck as yours equipped with the 6.2 gas v8 which is about 100lbs lighter than the 7.3 godzilla. Fun fact the 6.7 powerstroke is a full 700 pounds heavier than the 6.2 making it 600lbs more than the 7.3.
I think the 7.3 dually 4x4 4.3 axle ratio regular cab 8.2 ft bed would be an incredible snow plow vehicle with some good dedicated winter rubber (nokian hakkapelittas) would be the ultimate setup.
$1.73....fast forward to 2021 and it’s $4/gal or more in some areas. Since this is Nebraska maybe they are around $3.50
its been in the 80s and 90s here in south Florida the last two months
Oh don’t worry. I’ll bitch about the heat soon enough. 😂
Your number 1 complaint is: Oil cap out of reach, well, you shouldn't have to put oil in it, its a new truck! I never have, and at Ford an Oil change and tyre rotation is $53🙂
When pulling a trailer it rides like a Cadillac. So use it for what it’s meant to be and it’s a great truck
Right. The vehicle is designed to tow/haul well over a ton in the bed or tow up to 15k. In order to be stiff enough to do that the ride quality is going to suffer when it's empty. Load it up and it rides great because all that stiffness is doing its job. Take the tires down to 50 psi when it's empty and a lot of that harshness goes away. No one buying this truck should be running it empty a majority of the time, there are a ton of cheaper, smaller, more comfortable trucks for that purpose. This is a work truck or a toy hauler.
I think all of his dislikes are subjective to the driver. Other folks may love the truck the way it is. Obviously is isn’t too bad because he’s still driving it.
Glad I bought a powerboost 2021 f150 and can still tow 12000 and run around town with 24 mpg. Ya, towing will use use more, but we only tow a few times a year. And, tow a 7500 pound trailer.
For the f250 and ram 2500 look into Carli suspension
so something stood out to me when i rewatched this. the octane rating ur filling it up with is below the min reccomended of 87 octane. im wondering if its impacting your mpg and power ratings. supposedly u can use 91 octane gas for increased performance but i havent found anything saying by how much.
The higher the altitude the lower the octane rating can be. Most states with higher altitudes (CO, NM, WY, MT) use a lower number but it works the same as 87 at sea level.
I am running a 2019 F350 with 6.2L, 6spd & 4.30 axle, otherwise same configuration as yours and in a similar test I averaged 3mpg better.
If buying today I would want the 6.2L & 10spd for even better economy only I would want it in an F250. But for some bizarre reason you can only get that combo in an F350. I dont understand this? Is the 6.2L heavier than the 7.3L? I have know other thought as to why?
That is weird. I have no idea, sorry.
2020 Ford Super Duty.....not sure the 10 speed transmission is available with the 6.2L engine. At least I was not able to build one on the Ford website 3 weeks ago. I could build a Super Duty with the 6.2L engine.....only with the 6R140 G .....the 6 speed transmission.
@@15Jeep Try building an F350 and you will see the combo is available.
0-60 test... that is funny... shots fired TFL, lol. JK. Gotta give it up for a good review, even ruffled some Ford fan boy feathers... love it👍 Merica
Oh I’m good at pissing people off. 😂
The turning radius stinks too. I have the same truck, but I love it.
No complaints on my 2020 FORD F250 sport with the 7.3 Godzilla so far . I have had it since January.
Good to know!
What kind of mpg are you getting? I just bought the same truck (with sports package) back in March.
TBSN Mudcrew I would say it averages 12.9 mpg around town . Best I’ve got is 15 mpg on Hwy!
It's not a truck. It's a
low rider. Should be higher up for ground clearance like a real truck should be.
It’s a diesel? I thought it was gas. I’m confused. 7.3L diesel was an old engine, so they brought it back? What’s the black cap next to the fuel cap behind the fuel door?
It is a gas engine. The black cap is a dummy cap for the DEF fill up. The gas fill is the same design for both gas and diesel, they just put a black cap on it if it is a gas engine.
One thing I noticed when he showed the spec sheet on this truck is that it has a payload downgrade (only 10,000 GVWR)...which will make for a nicer ride unloaded, but it also had the 4.30 rear end. The gas mileage would be a bit better with a 3.73.
That truck was built to tow...not drive around empty or with anything close to heavy in the back...I bet it's max payload is less than 2500 lbs.
I thought all pickups had a max of 10k gvwr?
@@markhopkinsphoto7257 you can get the payload increased up to 11,500. Some do the payload reduction for state registration fee reduction.
Tim, I am a first time viewer and overall, I liked your video. I am a long time 4WD off-road.....both pickup truck and Jeep Wrangler enthusiast in the sense of getting me tocamping, fishing and hunting spots. I am from the Show Me state, but have lived in the Cowboy state ( btw...that is not Texas ) and in the Centennial state. I was raised on a farm / ranch with Chevrolet and GMC trucks. However, I have owned Ford trucks after I left Missouri and Ford Super Duty trucks since 2002. There are several reasons why Ford and Dodge (never be a Ram to me) trucks along with the Jeep Wrangler still use a Solid Front Axle. I am sure you know about axle articulation which can be measured…..Ramp Travel Index. On the other hand, IFS axle has shown to be better at higher speeds…off-road racing. I have had both trucks and Jeeps off road in the three states mentioned above…..and the axle articulation is way more important attribute in very uneven ground in mud and snow. I have seen Chevrolet’s and GMC’s get stuck in the mud and snow all too often…way before a Ford or a Dodge. I have seen the GM trucks high center many times…..the frame rails hang down very low. Two more thoughts. First, there is a great article in Four Wheeler magazine - Frontend Feud - IFS vs Solid Axle…..both have advantages. That said, for the average daily driver 4WD vehicle…used for outdoor recreation or someone who lives off of non-paved roads, the Solid Front Axle would be a much better choice over an IFS axle. Second, it is possible to have a very comfortable ride in a 4WD vehicle equipped with a Solid Front Axle…..just costs money. Check out the Carli suspension - 2.5 Pintop system with the King shocks. The Ford Super Duty or Dodge Heavy Duty with OEM stock suspension already performs better off-road than a Chevrolet or GMC…..add the Carli suspension and the Ford and Dodge trucks will ride better than the GM trucks…..and the off-road capability…second to none. Add ARB lockers or Eaton e-lockers to greatly improve traction with good mud lug and snow siped tire like Interco TrXus or Goodyear DuraTrac which is on the new Ford Super Duty Tremor.
I 1000% agree and have told people if you want a smoother ride, get the off-road version of any truck. The suspension is softer albeit with more truck sag if you haul. I think it is a good compromise imo.
Yes, if you are looking for an off-road truck then my comments aren’t as valid. I’ve seen some IFS trucks handle off-road, but the solid axle is better for more extreme conditions. I’ve read the 4 wheeler article a few times actually and have written for them in the past. Great group of guys.
Thanks for watching! Go Pokes!
@@Pickuptrucktalk Regarding "sag if you haul".....maintaining factory GVWR. Carli suspension offers the option to keep the OEM rear leaf springs or add Progressive Add-A-Packs or Full Progressive rear leaf springs made by Deaver Spring. The Full Progressive springs reduce factory GVWR. However, that can be overcome by adding air bags. Carli offers "long travel air bags" for the 4 1/2 inch lift, but not the 2 1/12 inch level system. However, another company...Hellwig offers air bags for the 2 1/2 inch level system. Watch a Carli video show casing the suspension on both Ford and Dodge trucks. The suspension with King shocks is both amazing and awesome!
I'm surprised you didn't mention the top of the cup holder sliding toward the driver seat to expand the amount from 2 to 4 cup holders.
You are right, I should have!
That’s an impressive 0-60 for a small block f250.
I thought so as well. It is really a lot quicker than you would imagine.
That should have been my "Top 5 first world problems" lol
LOL. Sure. It is nick picky.
Glad he mentioned how short he is as I assumed he was tall. My wife is 5'9" and I thought she'd have trouble with this truck as I'm buying a new one on Monday.
Thanks for assuming I was tall!
TO be fair, Doug Demuro is a tallboi and when he reviewed an F-250 he was dwarfed by its size as well. It's just a big truck.
You have pretty good payload. Is it because of 10,000 gvwr package? I took f250 for a test drive last week, it had only 2400 lbs :(
Number one thing wrong with this truck is its 50k over priced... oh wait so is chevy gmc and ljst goes on... !!!
3/4 Trucks are basically designed to have more spring and suspension to be able to be compressed to the right level when towing. Same issue for 1 tons on driving one around and complaining about the ride quality with no load. These are works trucks, not your grocery getter. I'd rather have more of a stiffer ride, without a load to ensure what is being towed is efficient.
Any problems identified with the 2020 f250s?
None so far to our knowledge.
Can you take a photo of the yellow payload sticker in the door jamb? Post it here.
Sorry they took the truck back last week.
@@Pickuptrucktalk In the future, please post a picture of it. Many of us need the information since we may be hauling heavy loads. I use a truck camper which weighs 3200 pounds when fully loaded with stuff. I'm upgrading to a F350 soon, but I need the heavy load capacity.
@@Harry-zz2oh yup. I missed that for sure. Lesson learned.
I trust the IFS more than the death wobble that Ford has had a problem with for a while now. The death wobble will make you crap your pants not having control of the steering and wanting to get a different truck. Ford needs to take customer and public safety more serious.
Good morning. Here in California we are SNOW IN! Damn global warming. Great VID by the way. Roy, So Cal.
