"I'm gonna be reborn in a million men."
13 Reasons Why: The Clone Wars.
Kura Does Things in the next season bryce's grave is struck by lightning, and when it is his consciousness leaks into the minds of millions in the nearby area, leading to a mass hive mind force. The characters are quickly chased out of town, towards the nearby lake area where they must deal with the apocalyptic society they now inhabit. Eventually they befriend a wise fisherman, and he shares his final catch before the outbreak: the gun stash the kids had hid in the lake. The next 4 episodes is them taking back the town and saving the world

Tyler is actually a Tiger Mafia sleeper agent.
Thirteen Reasons Why Season 4: Hannah Baker was alive all along, the person who actually killed herself was her long lost twin sister, Henna Baker who Hannah met shortly before the suicide and decided to swap lives with
Pretty Little Liar vibes
Oi
I wouldn't be surprised if this happen.
Season 5: hannah actually raped brice
From the Book of Hannah, remember that
i can't believe this show is supposed to be
"a learning tool for young people to starting having a conversation"
the main characters are literally murdering people, framing others and hiding guns
they're criminals with no moral code
Yeah, at least season 1 ATTEMPTED talking about mental illness, even if it did it horribly.
Right it seems like they choose which people to help seemingly at random. They decided to forgive Tyler for literally trying to shoot up a school but didn't forgive Bryce for raping girls. Obviously, neither should be forgiven and both should receive the punishment they deserve, but they didn't do that and decided that Tyler did nothing wrong and he was just a poor troubled boy. They(the writers) even made Zach seem like the asshole for wanting to turn Tyler in, even though that is the completely sensible choice.
richhobo1216 With Tyler they wanted to highlight that if schools actually stopped bullies instead of punishing the ones who are bullied and actually implement a good mental health system at the schools things like school Shoo*ings could be prevented. They also wanted to show how just being a friendly person towards those in need you can actually make a huge positive impact on them.
Kshatriya Right and it also pushed the message that you should try to talk down school shooters, endangering not only your life but the whole school.
@@kshatriya1414 yes, showing that being friendly to other can have a positive impact is a good message; but did they really had to do that with a school shooter? I mean, if Tyler was at the point to shoot the entire school and didn't plan to make it alive, he doesn't only need friends friend, but a profesional therapist. The idea that mental illness can be cured by teenagers is a bit dangerous.
Wasn't this show supposed to be about a girl's suicide?
Hannah could be taken out entirely and hardly anything would change
Without Hannah none of this would have happened
Fijiivibes And yet the show tried to continue without her.
Shayla Nash I think they wanted the show to be about the aftermath of her killing herself. Like how her death caused a domino effect and changed everything. I don’t think they wanted the whole show to be about her
Fijiivibes Well, to be brutally honest, this would never happen in real life even if 13 tapes were distributed to people who wronged the victim. The show makes it sound like suicide is a form of revenge (which it is not). And the way they treated Hannah’s motivation to kill herself is unrealistic too. Constantly the show says that bullying and peer pressure is the problem but it’s not just that. Mental health and family life are much more important for a child’s psyche.
@@zachbetz6326 she killed herself after being raped, not exactly a stretch
It's a well established fact that once a series is completely out of idea's that there's ONLY one place left to go: SPACE!
Or a road trip.

They could bring Bryce back as a zombie
The one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism!

Murder, rape, and other illegal activity. Any remember these memories from high school? No. Neither do I.
I mean one of the local high schools in my area has a bit of a gang and drug problem but damn it isn't like this
It's like Crimes for Babies or Crime Jr., not... murder.
We had overdoses, suicides, literal pedophile teachers and gang violence at my old high school so it does exist. But definitely not to the show's extent at least. Mine's probably a rare case lol.
Someone was murdered at my high school. There was a bit of gang violence since it was an inner city school, but besides the stabbings it was pretty normal.

Season 1: Hannah
Season 2: Life after Hannah
Season 3: RIVERDALE
that's an insult to riverdale
Riverdale takes a murder mystery plot, takes multiple hallucinogens, and then starts writing. That show goes freaking everywhere, from a board game drug cult to brainwashing churches. In other words, Riverdale is interesting.
Don't do that Riverdale like that compare them to this garbage and river days just entitled to 2 time because if you want to waste your time fucking staring at the wall because staring at a wall for 30-minutes makes as much sense as that showed us Riverdale and 13 reasons why I am speaking about.
Chaoz 73 badly written and clumsy =\= interesting
Riverdale is an actual dumpsterfire but at least you get some masochistic pleasure in cringing at every scene. 13 reasons is just kinda bland in comparison, and way too edgy.
It's gross that fangirls started stanning Monty simply because he's gay and has an abusive dad. Neither of those things change that he was a monster and deserved what he got.
THANK. YOU. They see one scene where he’s disrespected and they go: moNtY x wIlSToN mOnTY X wIsToN! Like....one sad scene doesn’t make him a good person. It really doesn’t.
Still, his arc was ended so shitty that I really was mad that he had to die.
Like, just leave him in prison, why the fuck does he have to die?
It fascinates me how some groups of people can be so starved for characters like them that they will leech onto the first character they see that is remotely like them, ignoring awful things they do just because they get representation.
I'm a huge LGBT supporter, but there is a very fine line between "This character is what I am therefore I shall stan" and "This character shares something in common with me, but I won't support them because they raped a guy with a broomstick."
Yeah, the only people that genuinely like this show for what it is are dumbass teenagers.
YES the whole “he’s like this because he’s gay “ arc is terrible
''He was a human being''

Relatable as hell.
This show tackles a lot of societal issues: bullying, suicide, school shootings, depression, rape, murder, and other negative behaviors
*And it somehow manages to give the wrong opinion on ALL OF THEM*
It doesn't really give any opinions at all.
📠 Fr tho, they "start a conversation" and by doing that make the character's do stupid and awful things but still have them be... Protagonists? 🤦🏿♂️👎🏿
Jay Asher is a hack
They're just trying to be controversial. In season 3 they also covered abortion, immigration, repressed homosexuality etc. I'm sure Season 4 will cover any remaining sociopolitical issues.
Charles Calthrop season 4 is out, you are correct
Clay has a mental illness, in season 1 his mom mentions his medication, and then they never talk about it EVER again. So they're going to feel like the best writers when they finally bring that back up.
@@Brocolli_Pizza They kind of forgot about the mental illness
NOT TO WORRY, DEAR VIEWER!
The final season's main story is Clay going to therapy and the therapist is Lt. Dan himself, Gary Sinise.
I wish I was kidding. They are actually going to find a way to ruin the concept of going to therapy and getting help for your mental health problems.
Final episode clay wakes up, looks at the pills on his bedside cabinet, smiles it was just a dream but it’s not over, he smile fades remembering the party last night he gets out of bed. Cut to clay busting out his houses then cut to clay running into Hannah’s house bursts into Hannah’s bathroom there she is with the razor bear her arm, she looks at him through tear filled eyes. Clay takes her hand and whispers “I’ll never leave you again” Run by Snow patrol starts playing in the background Hannah’s parents start clapping from outside the bathroom door and slowly are joined by the other characters, they begin to kiss slowly the door closes in the final shot is the door ‘The End?” The title reads.

The 13 Lessons I Learned from 13 Reasons Why
1. People suck and High School sucks.
2. Keep secrets from everyone.
3. Everyone’s problems should be your business.
4. Lie in court.
5. If I want to escape my problems, then I should do drugs.
6. If I get depression or have thoughts of self harm, I shouldn’t do everything in my power to seek help, but blame everyone.
7. If you disagree about someone’s political/religious views, label them as either crazy or something negative.
8. Embrace stereotypes affiliated with the type of person you are.
9. Rapists with no redeeming qualities or guilt for their actions are people too.
10. If I want to stop a school shooting, I should walk outside and confront the shooter.
11. If I want to get away with murder, I need the right crew.
12. Never learn a goddamn thing.
13. Avoid writing annoying characters like Ani and that one chick with glasses.
(In all seriousness though, please do the exact opposite of all these lessons that the show’s clearly sadistic writers gave, minus the last one.)
Well... the first one is true, though.
You're 99.9% right. This show does not know what to teach teens, but... I'd have to disagree with two points: while yes, people who commit heinous acts *deserve* to not be redeemed, but the sad almost depressing fact of life is... even the most horrible people on this earth are still people, and they should be treated with as much professional help as possible. On that note: the school shooter scene:
I will say, going up to a school shooter and talking to him while he has a gun in hand ready to shoot you is a dumb idea, but again, maybe that could work. I'm saying you should do it, don't do it, but maybe, just maybe talking to him and listening to his problems could work. By that I mean it could also end horribly.
Those are just people, and I wish this series handled the issue of mental health way more properly.
@@frightening_volleyball1231 Seeking professional help isn't the same thing as implying that those people are entitled to any form of forgiveness or reintegration into their former community.
Wuh oh we already got some homies who entirely missed the point of #9. I know damn well if someone I knew went up to a rapist and started treating them as kindly as their granny I would never interact with that person again, lmao
#10 couldn’t be more accurate
Season 1: The group of kids who were mean to a girl who killed herself and tried to cover it up and avoid responsibility for their actions are the bad guys.
Seasons 3-4: A group of kids who killed a man in cold blood and framed someone else for it to avoid responsibility are the good guys.
What is even going on anymore
So true lol.
Season 4 is still like that? I didn't dare to watch because of how the ending of season 3 upsets me.
Woah woah Bryce deserved it he literally raped mad people why are people trying to give him any type Of leeway
@@nanalove3819 Season 4 was pointlessly chaotic. Writers had no idea where to go next so they just threw a bunch of random stuff in. They barely even addressed what happened last season.
"Killed a man" - Killed a violent rapist
"Framed someone else" - Framed an even worse and much more violent rapist.

The writers of this show should really be ashamed of themselves. When they’re not doing logistic gymnastics to justify continuing a story that ended two seasons ago, they’re making clumsy attempts to promote positive social attitudes (executed so poorly they end up communicating the exact opposite) and endorsing outright criminal behavior. That might be okay if they admitted the show was a trash opera and embraced it like Riverdale (or Dynasty, for the old folks), but acting like it’s some kind of PSA and they’re doing the world a favor by bringing these “important issues” to light is disgusting and unconscionable.

I dont think its realistic. Every character is either a rapist, been raped, a murderer, drug addict, drug dealer, illegal possession of fire arms, lied to police or lied under oath or done something illegal. It makes no sense. I can only think of Tony who hasn't done something wrong, but even he keeps secrets for people that he knows are illegal.
Tony has insane anger management issues and constantly acts out in very physical and damaging ways. Every character is so over-the-top flawed they just become caricatures of every stereotype ever.
Instead of being interesting characters who've gone through serious shit they're all just one note and defined by a single personality trait. Instead of being people who bad things happened to those bad things are all there is to them.
Exactly, there’s nothing mild, like “oh they just party every now and then and like to smoke a bit” instead its “oh they go to school fried and party till they blackout”
Yknow id say that at least a lot of the characters started out as normal but flawed people, and then they became so messed up because of the situation involving the people around them such as Hannah and Bryce etc
Sounds like it's got EastEnders syndrome
This show was literally about a girl who killed herself who made 13 tapes for certain people blaming them because of it....idk wtf is going on now.

Marcus Chang It’s a play on a quote from the show.
Seth Belfort No I’m not
Why couldn’t they have just stopped with Season 1? It pisses me off so much that they promote themselves as this great show with great messages, yet they’re unnecessarily dragging the story on just for money.
I liked season 2. Its existence made sense: it was the trial following the crimes committed in season 1. I don't think season 3 was necessary at all but these characters are so popular Netflix didn't want to let them go. Instead of having a whole new season of 13 episodes, season 3 could've been an hour-long epilogue showing us the characters' lives after the trial. Did we need another 13 episodes? No.
I'm one of the few to admit Season 1 was so good and actually had something to say. After that, it just became the melodramatic, edgy nonsense everyone claimed it was from the beginning.
I think so too! Season 3 was so unnecessary
It was superficial garbage from the start, it portrayed people with mental problems as melodramatic egoists who wallow in their despair so lovingly, they create a podcast about it. Its "messages" prompted numerous mental health experts to warn the public of how harmful it was, and that backlash is the only reason they started adding those mental heath PSAs later on. That show is a slap in the face of anyone who actually struggled with mental health.

Feel free to tell me otherwise, but if I remember right Jessica hated being with him until he opened up about the ... incident.
That's the thing I had forgotten about with Tyler and the rest of the crew. They've essentially disliked him since season one, when they learned he was a stalker and took the photo of Hannah & Courtney (going so far as to omit him from the pact several of them made to keep Clay from finding out about Bryce raping Hannah via the tapes). Then, in season two, most of them don't even give a second glance to Tyler after he testifies in court about the goings-on at the school and he's almost forced into making new friends (cue the stereotypical punk rock-loving anarchist kids with an axe to grind about the establishment).

It ends with season 4.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT how do you feel about that
Gave me an evil laugh
More like: 13 seasons?? Why????
I feel like this season would’ve been better if Bryce didn’t go through a redemption arc and the season instead focused on a detective trying to solve the mystery of who killed him.
Think about it: the show built up Bryce as a throughly unlikable person where practically everyone has something against him, whether it be tormenting them, beating them up, and even raping them, all the while escaping major punishments thanks to his untouchable status.
This would give the detective a difficult case to solve as he or she would have a big list of suspects that all have a reason to off Bryce, some bigger than others.
But that’s just me anyway.
You. Netflix NEEDS to hire you!
I think that the reason Bryce's joke of a redemption arc was doomed to fail this season was because of how ridiculous it was in regards to the consistency of the character. It was as if he had an entirely different set of writers in season 3 compared to the last two, because the shift from narcissistic serial rapist without conscience to misunderstood kid who made some mistakes and just wants to make amends was...unexpected, to say the least. This did not feel like an organic change in any way, shape or form and just made for uncomfortable viewing.
There is nothing wrong with writing a redemption arc for an antagonist, when it's done well, that is. I think Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Legend of Aang is my favourite example of how one can successfully write a three dimensional villain or anti-hero because from the very beginning we were shown Zuko's humanity, whether it was through his insecurities, his mistakes, his motivations, the love he had for his uncle, etc. This added nuance to the show and ultimately allowed for an organic character development that lead to a successful redemption arc because the show forced you to look deeper than what you could see on the surface with not only Zuko but all of its main characters.
Now, Bryce Walker on the other hand could never have worked as a multi-layered, complex anti-hero by season 3, because it was so clear in seasons 1 and 2 of 13 Reasons Why that *he was never supposed to be one.* He was completely one dimensional with no nuance, just a very easy to hate, easy to swallow villain. We were never given any indication that this guy was anything other than a monster, nor were we given any insight into his thoughts, emotions or any other human facet of his character. It's not a villain trope I'm particularly fond of since it's pretty shallow but it is tried and tested, it works if that's what you're going for. So to establish someone as a cookie cutter, all around evil villain for 2 whole seasons, only to all of a sudden decide to make them human? It just can't work, you can't force in nuance that was never there in the beginning. The thing is, I genuinely really liked Bryce as a character in season 3, or rather, I would've liked him a lot more/felt more comfortable liking him had it not been so fucking weird and next to impossible reconcile him with the comparably unrecognizable version of him in the last two seasons. Bryce should've been just left alone as the awful rapist in this case, even though I think writing more than 1 season of this awful show was a mistake in itself.
Side note: Maybe this is tOo PoLiTiCaL but...I actually think that making Bryce an entitled, spoiled but otherwise human and most importantly, potentially redeemable character *from the get go,* as in, from Season 1, would've actually made the entire show more interesting since you're creating more opportunities for the show itself as well as up a relatively untouched point of discourse. But that's just me, I like when shows explore the grey in what appear to be black and white issues. *I'm not defending rapists but at the same time, the media doesn't really discuss the grey areas when it comes to some instances regarding consent, eg: inebriated or intoxicated sexual encounters, change of mind mid-intercourse and other often unclear cases of whether consent was given or not, and all I'm saying is it would've been interesting to see a show tackling this, that's all.* But we didn't get any of that because the plot was never written intending to explore any interesting avenues. I think I probably expected too much from a Netflix original based off a crappy book lmao.
Same. I'm not against a redemption arc, but the way it is made... it is just... stupid? Like, I'm supposed to believe that the guy who proves in season 1 and 2 that he has no regrets, that he doesn't care about anyone but himself, will suddenly feels regrets? And why, because being bullied open his eyes? If that type of person is being bullied for their bad actions, they will think it is unfair, not that they may have done something wrong.
That's the problem when someone creates a character that is meant to be a stereotype or has only one function (here, be the villain), and all of a sudden decides after a few seasons that the character should not be one-dimensional. I'm not saying it is impossible, but realy hard, and needs a quality of writing that they probably don't have if they created this type of character in the first place (except if their writing improved, but in this show... no).
It's sad because it was actually an interesting question (is there people that can't change or don't deserve redemption?), but the way it is made can't work.
@@nanalove3819 you never know how people's mind work. If I'm somehow go to the same school as them, if I have heard about Bryce, I actually would try to be friend with him and help him. I would still doing it even if he have bullied me multiple times

I am not against people expressing their opinion ( despite how stupid they may be) bit can you stop putting it in every comment in the section. I don't need you hear your bullshit more than once.
The plot of the season should have just been "Bryce is dead. Who killed him?" Not flashbacks implying that his parents not loving him somehow made him a rapist even though it didn't. He chose to be one. The show acting like him hypocritically calling out Monty for raping Tyler, standing up for his mother against his granddad, banging Ani and crying during a yoga session somehow made up for him raping multiple women was sick. And you're right. Him going from remorseless serial rapist who got boners at the mere thought of it to a supposed "misunderstood victim" was a retcon not character development.
Tbh I don't think we can put Bryce Walker and Prince Zuko on the same plane. I absolutely loved Zuko's redemption arc, but it isn't hard to forgive him when his only flaws were being an edgy teenager that was angry at the entire world because he tried to do something good but ended up getting burned (literally) for it. Bryce is an entirely different story; he raped dozens of girls and traumatized them forever. He drove one to suicide and was just a complete asshole all around. He was comically evil, as some people described. It's difficult coming back from that. The creators definitely could have made Bryce more complex and likeable, but I see no possible way to give him a proper redemption arc, because he cannot be redeemed.

I'm so tired of movies, tv, and even society seeming to think a tough childhood is an excuse to be awful. I have always been very empathetic, compassionate, and have a very good sense of right and wrong, despite both my parents being animal and child abusers, and racist. I witnessed and experienced a lot of horrific things but the only time those are used as an excuse for my behavior is when I burst into tears randomly or seem a bit too emotionally guarded with those close to me. Seriously fuck bullshit shows like 13 reasons why.
Everyone: 13 Reasons Why
Me, an intellectual: 13 Seasons, Why?!?
I think the big reason why the “horrible people are still people” argument usually falls flat is because, while bad people often come from bad families, not everyone that comes from a bad family becomes a bad person. Some become VERY good people because they don’t want to put others through what they’ve been through. Saying “they became bad because of bad families” not only does a disservice to the people who became good despite their families, but it also encourages people to succumb to their poor upbringing. “It’s okay if you’re bad, you came from a bad family after all. Blame them for all your bad actions instead of blaming yourself and possibly learning to be a better person.”
Yet another horrible lesson taught by this “educational” show.
Good analysis, but I wouldn't call it "horrible people are still people". That one seems more to have more to do with compassion or not "sinking to their level", whereas the argument you describe is more in line with moral determinism, where people are believed to have no choice in the kind of person they'll become, resulting in them just being a product of circumstance.
@TrolleyXLakers __ You bring an interesting point. People usually take the circumstances approach only in trauma, as if bad experiences automatically make you a bad person (which is an obvious strawman), but in reality, circumstances affect you in many different ways, they teach you lessons and instruct you in the way you act.
Winged Mirage This is a bad point. Yes, most people who come from bad families don’t become rapists. But that doesn’t make environment any less of a factor. You’ll see what I mean if I use smoking as an analogy. Most people who smoke cigarettes don’t get cancer but that doesn’t mean smoking doesn’t cause cancer. It just means that there are other genetic and environmental factors that determine whether or not the smoking will cause cancer in that specific person.
First of all it’s important to note that “bad family” is an extremely broad category. Not all bad families are the same. A household with a father who molests the children is different from one where the parents are drug addicts which is different from one where your older siblings are gang members, etc... These are all “bad families” but each will influence the kids differently. So saying that you know someone who came from a bad family but didn’t become a bad person doesn’t tell us anything because every “bad family” is different.
Next, people respond differently to similar environments. Why is this? Part of it is genetics and part of it is itself more environment. Someone who’s genetically more resilient will deal with abuse better than someone who isn’t. For an environmental example someone who is getting abused at home but has good friends has a better chance than someone who is getting abused at home and has no friends.
And this doesn’t just apply to people who end up bad. This is also for people who end up good. Good people are just as much products of their environment as bad people. And for the people who were raised in bad environments but turned out good, there will be other factors that explain why despite having some bad influences they were still able to overcome it. An easy example is maybe you grew up in a shitty home with shitty parents and a shit education but you had a sister who cared about you a lot and was a role model and looking up to her allowed you to overcome the other bad influences. It’s a combination of different factors.
I think if two people had the same genetics and exactly the same environment and life experiences, they would end up exactly the same.
It also gives genuinely awful people ammunition to use against others. "Look, it's not MY fault, my mommy beat me/I was molested/I missed the ice cream man that one time!"
Sad fact is, some people are just inherently no matter how good a home life they had.
Agreed! Especially in fiction, when a character acts, they should ideally earn either reward or punishment. Having a bad guy, who is never convincingly redeemed, never be punished, and have the narrative treat him in a rewarding manner? That’s really frustrating for an audience. We want people to be held accountable for the good or the pain the inflict on others. It’s just bad writing

Complicated characters like that "dAmAgEd" Joker
Lmao. I was searching for someone to comment on this.
Because the characters were complicated. You domt have to like the movie, but the characters themselves were good
*2030:* "13 seasons why???"
“13 reasons why I met your mother”
Is the next epic cinematic universe
Line up crossover
"He was a human being" is such a weak excuse when you think back to human history and the absolute horrors humans have unleashed on the world and each other. Humans are F-ing terrifying, don't try to downplay the evil they commit just because it wasn't quite murder level or something.
13 Reasons Why Season 4: All kids will be trapped in high school and a mastermind behind a killer bear will force them to kill each other.
Please. I need more Danganronpa.
The mastermind would be Clay being manipulated by Hannah's ghost.
I wonder what the executions would be like 👀
Oh I Wish
Danganronpa: V13 trigger happy Hannah
The way they made Bryce more “rounded” makes it seem more like they’re just “romanticizing the bully”
Even worst 'romanticizing the serial rapist'
The message of "serial rapists are people too 😔😔😔" is gonna be a yikes from me, Todd
@@TwighlightLugia It can be done well but the show did it in the worst way possible
Y
*romanticizing the actual criminal
Everyone is a human being. That doesn't excuse inhumane actions
"I'm trying to better, but the fucking world won't let me"
How? What is holding you back?
