She probably had a morality clause, which disney and other kid-friendly networks use, that she was in violation of. So it's not necessarily the drinking but just her lifestyle & image she was projecting.

In other times, it’s completely justified. When you have a job, you have a responsibility.
But then what happened? Obviously she didn't get fired, they must have worked things out, but it would have been interesting to find out how they got from firing her to keeping her on in the best TV show there's ever been. I don't understand why they don't make a reboot of it, not a dark gothy one like has been done, I mean one like the original, perhaps with Sabrina with a magical son, and Harvey gets magic powers, and Salem of course.
When Melissa signed on to be Sabrina, she wasn’t just under ABC’s control, she was also under Archie Comics’ (the actual makers of Sabrina The Teenage Witch) control. And when she signed on to not only be the face for Sabrina on behalf of the TV show, but also comic books and merchandise wise, she was strictly prohibited from ever posing naked as Sabrina, along with a couple of other stuff on both Archie and ABC’s guidelines. And because the magazine cover said “SABRINA” instead of “MELISSA” she got in trouble with Archie. And with all of the 18+ topics she was discussing in the magazine, she got in trouble with ABC. In the end; she didn’t get fired because both companies agreed she had a pretty big fanbase and was doing both, the network and the Sabrina comics very well. So it would’ve been dumb to get rid of her anyway.

What a shame that she wasnt allowed to live her life honestly and still perform. She clearly did a phenomenal job in that role. Big error on their behalf in my opinion. Can we get a reboot?
I mean it makes sense that she got fired from her show because she was talking about how much she can drink and how she had 12 tequila shots in 2 hours. And Sabrina the teenage witch is a show that’s family friendly and a kid friendly. So your image has to represent that and you have to have a squeaky clean image. Are we bringing back E THS?!?!!?!! Finally!!
Click bait doesn't say anything about being fired until end with no explanation
I loved this show and I loved all her outfitsss
She wasn't fired.. She was ALMOST fired. the shoot happened in 1999.. I still have that Maxim issue.. and the show ran until 2003. I remember hearing how she got into trouble.. It was not just the party that was the issue. She referenced the show in the Maxim shoot and talked about taking a shot of liquor whenever the cat talked.. Ya, it's a family show.. and she was being too edgy for them.. but not too edgy for me!!
😂👍
Ha ha. Didnt know that. Funny lol.
I loved that this was a lighthearted "slice of life" live action "magic girl" series Sabrina, and that manga/anime genre drawing from Bewitched.
you know it's funny I actually said somewhere else that it's a shame that Elizabeth Montgomery didn't hold on awhile longer she could have made an appearance on the show (she died a year before Sabrina premiered)
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit she played a bit part in Batman: the Animated Series (which makes a great series greater), but I would've loved to see Montgomery on Sabrina. Maybe as the voice of reason on the Witches Council.
When you are enslaved with a contract to Hollywood, you must obey their every request/demand. That is common knowledge. You don't work for a network and go out and booze it up knowing full well there will be public pictures showing your exploits. Especially if you are someone playing a character in a "family sitcom". That's just common sense. And thirdly.... you don't EVER go to the Playboy Mansion and sit anywhere. No sitting. You'll end up pregnant. Everyone knows that.
you sound brainwashed by hollywood. you should be able to be a human and have fun without those restrictions when you’re a full blown adult.
@@honeydew1678 I think it is you who’s brainwashed. The way you say “full blown adult” sounds like you are not an adult yet or still immature. Whatever job you are working for (famous or not), if you go against the company ideals, you risk getting fired. It’s as simple as that. Sometimes it’s unfair, which in that case you can fight for. In other times, it’s completely justified. When you have a job, you have a responsibility.
The original sabrina😍😍😍😍 i grewup reading all sabrina novels with her photo on cover. So imagined sabrina with her face
Omg yesss
@@princealex6826 Thank you. Whoever is running thus channel needs to pay you a cheque for actually giving us the True Hollywood Story. Thank you.
@@princealex6826 Also, not entirely true. Archie Comics decided not to terminate their contract with her, however, ABC did. Drive Me Crazy’s release coincided with season four, which was also the last season that it aired on ABC. The show got picked up by another network (the WB) for three additional seasons. Had they not picked it up then Sabrina would have just been over.
@@TimothyRichard12345 See now that part i did not know and it finally solves my question of why ABC chose to cancel Sabrina on season 4 and leave it on a cliffhanger before The WB picked it up. Thank you! I originally thought they just wanted to cancel it for the same reason they cancelled Clueless due to budget/views.
Strange looking up that she was 27 years old when the show ended in '03. Now of course I knew about her from Clarissa but I never knew how much older she was then me. To be honest, I did some growing up (cough, cough) during those Sabrina years.
Og Sabrina is way better than the dark show. Too spooky for me 😱
I love that show. I hate when Hollywood tries to keep you too young. Dang let her speak on being grown a bit.
That's not what happens.
The cat took me out 😂
I got to meet MJH at a comic con in Chicago in 2019. She was very friendly and down to earth. Definitely meet again.
I didn't know she got fired
It’s okay cause a different network picked up the show and it kept going.
What they mean was Sabrina going to be canceled after season 4. The WB picked it up.
Where is the rest of this interview????
I remember having a crush on Sabrina in the 90's, really the only reason I watched the show, lol
Partying from 18-25 is perfectly normal and any stupid network trying to pretend it isn’t just part of growing up and figuring out your life are dumb
Clarissa explains it allllll, I love Melissa Joan Hart!
I absolutely hate that these execs think that the public can’t separate someone’s personal life from the character they play. I don’t give a hoot if the ADULT actress they hired to play a teen goes out and does adult things… she’s an ADULT!! It’s totally fine!! Smh
Does anyone know where I can watch the full version online in Australia, even if I have to pay?
Omg this is my favourite show still of all time xxx even at 29 I listen to it to help me sleep xx lol
I love Sabrina I've been binging it with my family
wheres the rest!?
This is my favorite show!! I was such a huge fan. I did not know she was fired 😡.
There is no Sabrina without MJH ♡ and Salem of course lol
Melissa Joan Hart wasnt fired from Sabrina The Teenage Witch after the MAXIM photoshoot. The series got two more seasons after that.
Yoo this was my shooooowwww🥰
Kind of a weird place to cut off the clip.
Loved her in Melissa & Joey.
Someone once told me she was in rehab with her and she was really annoying lol
The show didn’t end for three more years after that it just changed networks
Where the rest of the story?
I absolutely loved Melissa Joan Hart!!! When I was young I couldnt wait for Friday's TGIF so i could watch Sabrina it was my favorite show!! And when Britney spears was featured in Sabrina a couple times i loved her even more!!! And i loved her "Drive me Crazy" movie!!
Never seen the show till I saw a rerun on fuse channel months ago and saw a talking black cat. Now I’m hooked, obviously. I didn’t know she was fired? The show lasted a while didn’t it?
do you know where can I watch it these days?
Hulu!
@@msbien521 omg thanks!
It's sold on DVD.
Well..now the rabid ending of the show makes sense..I felt like the end was so rushed. But now I get why..She was being fired. What a shame that she wasnt allowed to live her life honestly and still perform. She clearly did a phenomenal job in that role. Big error on their behalf in my opinion. Can we get a reboot?
The shoot and interview was in 99. The show ended in 2003. Rushed ending had nothing to do with this, and she ended up not getting fired.
Melissa was the reason I watched
Lol for me it was Salem and the aunts. Never cared too much for Sabrina herself.
Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch were two of my favorite shows growing up.
Lovvvvved this show!!!
What is this from
Omg they bringing the series e true Hollywood story???!!!! Omg 😃 I grew up loving these behind the scenes
They been back since last year x
She did not get fired from the show. Click bait
Yes she did. It just got picked up by another network.
@@TimothyRichard12345 I must have misread an article, thank you for the correction.
So you can’t be talking about how much you partied or how much you drink when youre on a family sitcom because it’s not gonna reflect well on the show
Wasn't her mom a producer on that show, Fired?
Didn't that series end
The unsung hero's of sabrina were the wardrobe & hair dept. 😍
I loved Melissa as Sabrina. Although she wasn't what I had expected to b Sabrina she brought a wholesome aspect to it. Or at least the network had a wholesome storyline. Back when the 90s were simple and innocent. I really don't like the new version coz it was sexualized. The horror theme was fine but the actress was terrible and the sexualization was unnecessary.
The 90s were a quieter and peaceful time. I loved Harvey too. Too bad the new version didn't focus on Harvey.
Sabrina was okay but the show was Salem the cat and Aunt Hilda. Lol
The biggest cliff hanger dont exi…. 😐 1:52
Melissa joan hart is best witch!
My favourite show😊
imagine getting fired from a huge popular sitcom because you want to be a drunk club chick. only in america.
If she had been a man that would not of happened. Love you Melissa!
What stupidity is that? Had she been a man, she'd have been fired more quickly.
@@kittygranollers6232 for partying?? No. There is this expectation that girls in those shows keep an almost virginal persona, but for guys, it adds to them for them to be a player. That makes u a Hollywood heartthrob
@@ohemaa_ang not at all. Seen tons of men getting fire over wild parties.
@@kittygranollers6232 please name a few. Im curious
@@Just999Me James Remar in Aliens, he had to be replaced by Michael Bean; Charlie Sheen; Mandy Patikin & some others... i used to read those teen magazines a lot when growing up & i like show biz a lot... they sure protect their investment.
Sabrina is still my fav show. She’s a witch with a cat 😂 always loved witches and cats are my fav.
This show was amazing
The show continued for another four years after 'Drive Me Crazy' was released so I don't think she was sacked 😂
I would watch this again, yesterday!
