Another guy with it that I know has absolutely destroyed his hands due to how much hot water and bleach he uses to clean them with, medication doesn't help him.

Monica was like that becoz of her childhood issues with her mom. Her mom never treated her right and always thought she was good for nothing. That's why she made sure that whatever she does should be perfect always.. Childhood traumas really haunt you forever 😢
Mine was not my Mother but from my siblings. I went to a therapist once and he said to me, "Why do you feel you have to be perfect?" Of course, I felt no way near perfect, but obviously he gleaned this trait about me from our session.

It is caused by genetics, imbalances in brain chemistry, and the environment. Usually individuals are not even aware they have it. It can cause great discomfort and stress, which can lead to depression, anxiety, problems sleeping and can cause issues with work and relationships. It is a real documented problem.
